Charles had been driving his motorcycle to Metropolis in order to meet up with Superman-Blue. Roughly three years ago, Superman had been faced with a mountain of challenges on his plate. Figuring out how to reverse Braniac's effect on the bottled city of Kandor, a wave of villains who had somehow come into the possession of Kryptonite, mounting threats from both supervillains and normal crime that was overrunning Metropolis.
The hero was wearing himself ragged to the point he had no time for Clark Kent, who would disappear for weeks at a time. Overwhelmed Superman sought a solution via Kryptonian technology. Building a device meant to increase one's mental clarity, hoping it would help him find a solution on how to tackle his mounting list of problems. The device did work, but with an unexpected side effect. It turned Superman into two different people, dubbed Superman-Blue, and Superman-Red.
Usually Superman being split into two was the result of some mad villain's plot. And often the result was being split into a good version of himself and an evil version. This time however both versions were the same upstanding and noble hero the world loved. Though they each seemed to have a preference for different color costumes.
With one Superman now two they were able to finally crack Brainiac's technology and reverse the effects of his miniaturization ray. Restoring the city of Kandor to its correct size. The increase in black market Kryptonite actually proved to be a blessing in disguise. Calling in just about every hero on earth the heroes were able to track down and gather all known Kryptonite and use it to create a core to build a new Krypton in a neighboring Galaxy under a nearby red sun.
With Kandor restored to its proper size on a new planet, its people began the long process of colonizing New Krypton. One thing no one expected was Aquaman deciding to move Atlantis to new Krypton. Arthur had claimed that as King he must always put his people first. And a new planet filled with fresh water, inhabited by only a small number of people that still had strong ties to earth would be a paradise for his people.
The last task the Supermen had yet to complete was rid to the Earth of crime. A task Charles' father said was impossible. Their solution was to create what the media had dubbed the anti-evil ray. The ray was attached to a satellite and when activated, it cured villainous tendencies in almost everyone on Earth. It wasn't just criminals either, communists like Fidel Castro had been reformed as well.
Bruce had been furious with what Blue had done. Arguing it was akin to an illegal lobotomy. Superman however argued the ray did nothing but alter the brain to be naturally inclined to reflect more on their actions before doing them. Or as he put it. Strengthening their conscience.
The ray wasn't perfect though. 'Reflecting on actions' or whatever the science of the ray actually did little when those actions were done without thought. Crimes of passion or deeds committed as the result of ignorance, accident, or some outside force clouding judgement. It also didn't seem to affect those who put no thought into their actions. Namely Joker. When the ray failed to cure Joker, the Supermen both agreed that the only way to keep Earth safe from the last supervillain on the planet was to imprison him in the Phantom Zone until they could come up with a cure that could restore the Joker's sanity.
Once crime plumited, which had been the only reason Charles' dad hadn't tried to reverse the ray's effects, Superman-Red decided there was no need for two Superman, and decided to live the life he never had been able to by moving to new Krypton to live the life that had been ripped from him as a baby. He had proposed to and taken Lois Lane with him.
It was hours later as Charles pulled up to S.T.A.R Labs. Even with the speeds his bike could reach it was always a bit of a drive to Metropolis. Charles stopped the bike in front of the large glass doors to the lab and took off his helmet. No sooner had he dismounted his bike when Superman-Blue came floating out to greet him. "Good to see you again Charles."
Charles took off his helmet and walked up to his surrogate uncle, "The last time we saw each other, you and Superman-Red were still one and the same, so I suppose it's good to finally see you again like this. I hope you have a good reason for dragging me down here. My mom was just hit by a drunk driver."
Superman-Blue felt a bit bad for calling Charles out here after hearing that his mother had been involved in a car crash, "I'm sorry to have called you out here during this. If you want I can hold off on this?"
Charles shook his head, "No, if the multiverse is in danger, that's much more important than a few sprains. She wasn't seriously injured."
Superman-Blue smiled, "Good, I'll bring you up to speed." before walking into the lab, where more heroes of Knightshade's generation had also been called to meet up at the lab to discuss the threat to the multiverse.
First there was Akaria, also known as Crimson Eagle, the new crimson skinned leader of the Red Lantern Corps. Knightshade hadn't yet delved too far into off world heroes. Apparently, the Corp was originally led by another alien named Atrocitus who wanted to build a cult of hate to destroy the Guardians of the Universe. Akaria had exposed Atrocitus as a deceiver, and manipulated and overthrew him before becoming the Corps new leader. Very little was known about her apparently waiting to mend ties with the Red and Green Lantern corps. His father had her classified as someone to keep an eye on.
Next was Brianna, Superman-Blue's first cousin once removed. Though she simply referred to Superman as her uncle. She was the daughter of Supergirl and the former Kid Flash. She had the same powers of anyone with Kryptonian blood, but combined with her father's connection to the Speed Force, she was able to fly at speeds that left her parents in the dust.
Akaria was obviously annoyed she'd been brought here, telling Superman-Blue, "You'd better give me an explanation for all this. I have a Corps to run and peace negotiations with the Green Lantern Corps to oversee."
Brianna rolled her eyes and told her, "Do you really think you can do either of those if you don't exist? The multiverse is a big place, and Earth is the center. And that means if the Earth is in danger, that means all of existence is in danger."
Charles nodded, "Agreed. Let's just get through the briefing." before seeing Victor Stone, one of the Justice League's retired heroes known as Cyborg, coming into the room. "What's Cyborg doing here? I thought he retired?"
Victor nodded, "I did, but you're going to need a boom tube to get around the multiverse, that's where I come in."
Akaria told them, "We don't need a rusted-up steam driven pile of junk to get across the multiverse. My ring can-"
Victor was obviously angered by Akaria's comment, "Who are you calling steam driven!?"
Before the two could start fighting, Brianna said, "Look, we don't have time to be at each other's throats! Uncle Blue, continue on."
Superman-Blue nodded, "Right, you'll have to get used to working together for now." before bringing up charts on the super computer and continued, "Earth Prime's astrological movements have been changing. At first glance, most people couldn't tell the difference. But I can. Something is pulling Earth out of its normal orbit, at such a slow pace that nobody has noticed until now."
Knightshade thought for a moment and said, "I have a feeling there's more to this than pulling Earth out of its orbit. There's plenty of supervillains who could do that without breaking a sweat."
Akaria grumbled and nodded, "As much as I hate to admit it, the boy has a point. There has to be more to this than moving a planet out of its natural orbit."
Superman-Blue nodded, "That's right. But I need people on the ground to investigate. We can't do much to help from our world, that's where you all come in."
Knightshade nodded, "All right then, I'm in. I've got my costume and supplies back with my bike. It'll be fun to crack some heads. I can't complain about a crime-free Earth, but it does get boring with nobody to fight."
Akaria smirked, "I'll agree with that, a hero isn't truly a hero without evil to fight."
Brianna smiled, "Well, looks like we're all agreed. Let's go kick some interdimensional ass!"
30 minutes later…
Charles, Akaria, and Brianna were all prepared to use Victor's boom tube to get them to Earth Prime, when Superman-Blue handed them new communicators, "These are prototypes, but they should allow you to communicate with us, even while you're on Earth Prime. Good luck."
The three teenage heroes went through the portal created by Cyborg and soon enough, they landed in their target universe's version of Metropolis. The minute they got on the ground, they heard screaming and what sounded like gorillas roaring.
Knightshade chuckled, "Well, it didn't take us too long to find some ass to kick. Let's do this." before activating the rocket boosters on the soles of his boots and going towards the noise, being followed by Akaria and Brianna.
And so, the heroes of Earth 162 have arrived on Earth Prime, to face the threat to the entire multiverse. Arriving in a world where there were still supervillains running amok, they now face challenges that the superheroes of their world haven't faced in years. Are they strong enough to face them after the years of living on a crime-free Earth?
