The team had just arrived in the Metropolis of Prime Earth. While the world was nearly identical to theirs in terms of appearance, something in the air made them know that it was nothing like their own.

That fact was made obvious when a horde of large gorillas wearing human clothes and sporting human hair came hooting down the street. Led by none other than Gorilla Grodd.

Crimson Eagle cracked her knuckles and said, "Different earth. Same old villains. Let's kick some ass!"

Knightshade shook his head, "Going against Grodd's forces with brute strength is suicide. He's got us outmatched, outnumbered, and likely knows this Metropolis better than we know our own. Grodd is also telepathic, he'd know our attacks are coming before we make them."

Brianna asked Knightshade, "Any ideas?"

Knightshade activated his rocket boots as he turned to the others, "Try and find what de-evolution device Grodd used on the people. If we can turn them back to normal then we only have to worry about one monkey."

"What about you?" asked Eagle.

" I'll hold Grodd off and buy you some time." he said before taking to the sky and hovering over to where Grodd was. He pulled out a pair of flintlock pistols and aimed them at Grodd.

"Dance monkey," he said, and then began to fire. From his new vintage point Knightshade pulled out a pair of flintlock pistols. Despite the age of the guns their design for ball bearings made them perfect for firing seeds loaded with different toxins. Toxins he could activate that to his powers as vines erupted from the seeds and began to tangle around Grodd and the other apes.

The vines did little beyond make the gorillas angry and they roared and snapped the vines with their paws. Knightshade continued to dance around the gorilla's as he fired. Unloading onto them.

While Knightshade kept Grodd's attention Crimson Eagle and Brianna scoured the city for the de-evolution device.

"Any luck?" asked Brianna through her communication device.

"Nothing," replied Eagle. "My ring is not picking up any signs of a device that could be the cause of this situation."

Brianna held her finger to her ear as she activated her com-link. "Hey rich boy, we can't find the device! Any ideas?"

As he continued to jump around and dodge, Knightshade did his best to reply. "Try to find a signal that seems out of order. If the device is being masked it's got to be masked by something. And hurry it up. I don't know how long I can keep this up."

Just as he said that a large hairy arm came hurtling at Knightshade's face. Bending backward he felt the arm sail inches from his face as he tucked into a backwards roll. Trying to get some distance from him and the army of apes.

"I think I see something," shouted Brianna. "There is a warehouse nearby that for some reason is completely lined with lead. Only one reason someone would line an abandoned warehouse with lead." A super speed Brianna took off and zoomed through the city. Crashing through the roof of the lead lined building.

"Hold on!" shouted Eagle as she rushed through the roof of the warehouse. "We need to make sure we turn the people back to normal. Give me a few seconds." Eagle floated down and pointed her ring at the machine. "Ring, see if you can reverse the frequency of this device."

"Scanning."

As Eagle worked to reprogram the device, Knightshade continued to try to fight against the army of Gorilla's. He jumped over a large arm as it swung toward him, then curled into a roll as he slid under another gorilla's legs before leaping up and nailing a third with a swift kick to the face.

Before he could hit the ground, he felt his ankle being grabbed. Before he could react, he was slammed down hard into the pavement.

Knightshade groaned in pain. While his suit had taken the brunt of the damage the shock still reverberated through his body.

Grodd grinned as he stood over the downed hero. "I don't know who you are, or where you are from. But I'm going to use your skull as a warning to all who try to oppose my new empire."

He grabbed Knightshade by the throat and lifted him as he began to choke him. As Knightshade struggled against the apes' steel grip a loud roar erupted among the apes. Grodd looked around as slowly his army of apes began to change back into their former selves.

"What's going on?" asked Grodd as he watched his simian army crumble.

"Hey monkey boy!"

Grodd turned just in time to be hit by two fists flying toward him at full speed. The punch lifted Grodd off the ground and sent him flying into a nearby car that he crashed into.

Not missing a beat both girls rushed toward the stunned ape as Crimson Eagle used her ring to hold Grodd in place, while Brianna used her freezing breath to help.

Knightshade rubbed his sore throat as he walked toward the subdued ape. "Maybe it's time for you to experience life on the other side," he said, and pulled out a different looking, almost futuristic pistol as he aimed and shot some kind of cybernetically enhanced seed right at Grodd's forehead. The seed stuck to Grodd's head as the ape began to scream in pain.

With pain fueling him Grodd broke the ice and ring construct as he screamed. "Wh-What's happening to me!? What have you done!?"

Holding his head Grodd's body began to change. His fur was falling off, and his body structure was changing as well, becoming more human. His spine straightened out, making him more bipedal.

Brianna looked on in shock as the large underwent the transformation. She looked at Knightshade in confusion. "Knightshade, what was in that seed you shot out?"

"Father was working on devices meant to reverse the de-evolution methods Grodd often employs. It scrambles through all known wavelengths Grodd has used to alter humans into apes and reverses them. In short, Grodd is evolving from a super intelligent gorilla to a slightly above average human."

Grodd's eyes widened as he heard Knightshade's explanation. "No! That's impossible! I will not be turned into one an uncivilized excuse for a primate!"

As the transformation completed Grodd fell to the ground, now fully evolved into a human. As he looked at his pink and fleshy skin in horror, the former ape did something no one expected. He began to cry.

Eagle looked at Knightshade. Not entirely comfortable with the extreme methods he had just used. "The change isn't permanent, is it?

Knightshade shook his head. "Unlikely. There are only so many types of radiation that can cause the kind of devolution Grodd uses to turn humans into apes. The ray simply counters and reverses those effects. The only reason it worked on Grodd at all is because his body has been exposed to so much of it over the years. It will probably wear off after a few weeks. Or a few months depending on how overexposed he is. I figured it would make it easier for him to be contained and maybe give him a new outlook on what being human is."

Suddenly, a familiar voice said, "Well, I came here when I heard the gorillas hooting, but it seems I missed out on the action."

The team turned around to see Superman, Earth Prime's version floating above them with a smile on his face. As he flew down, he noticed the S on Brianna's costume. "You… are you Kryptonian?"

Brianna smiled and nodded, "Yes, well kind of, technically half Kryptonian to be precise." She held out her hand and Superman took and gave a friendly shake.

Knightshade was a bit stunned. It was strange to see Superman as a single being again after all these years. He hesitated for a split second before offering his own hand. "It's good to see you, Superman." He mentally reminded himself that though the man in front of him looked like his godfather, the life he had lived was far different. There was no telling what roads this universe had taken.

Crimson Eagle rolled her eyes, "Yeah, whatever. He's not any more special than Superman-Blue in our world."

Superman raised an eyebrow and asked, "Your world?" he questioned, then nodded. "I see. You three must be from a different earth. That would explain why I've never met you. Well, you've proven you're capable of handling yourselves in a fight. But why have you come to our Earth?"

Knightshade spoke up, "We need you to call an emergency meeting of the founding Justice League members."

Superman gave Knightshade an unsure look until Knightshade continued.

"Sorry. It's just we have important information that needs to be shared with you all and it's a bit of a long story. It would be easier to explain to everyone all at once."

Superman nodded, "I suppose if you came all the way from another universe to tell us this, it's important. I'll vouch for you if anyone seems suspicious."

After a quick call the four were teleported to the watchtower where Superman quickly called an emergency founding members meeting.

Being aboard the Watchtower was strange for Knightshade. While his father had told him about it, he had never actually been to it. The tower had been practically abandoned since the peace on his version of Earth didn't have a need for it.

Looking down over the vastness of earth from the room that his father and the other saviors of earth once stood. It truly put into perspective how small a single being was.

As the founding JLA members took their seats in the meeting room, Knightshade suddenly found himself becoming nervous. In his world, many of the members had retired after peace was established. To see them here, in their prime, gathered around in their floating tower as they judged him with their eyes. It was suddenly so easy to understand why the history books often referred to them as human gods.

Superman was the first to speak, standing and instantly gaining the others' attention. "I've gathered you here because three heroes have come a long way to relay important information to us. So let's hear what these young heroes have to say."

John Stewart spoke up as he crossed his arms and glared at Crimson Eagle. "I find it hard to believe that there could be a Red Lantern who's a hero."

Crimson Eagle couldn't help but feel hurt by John's words. "In our world, Atrocitus is no longer in charge of the Red Lanterns. I overthrew that son of a bitch after we all realized he was manipulating us. We don't fight to conquer anymore. We fight to avenge those that have been wronged."

Batman stood up and glared at Knightshade, "It doesn't take a detective to figure out who you are. You may be from another universe, but you're obviously one of my proteges."

Knightshade wasn't sure what to say. For him Batman had always been his father. Stern and hard, but still his father. He had to remind himself that this was a man who was his father in name only. Charles lifted his cloak. Before leaving his father had told him that while it was of the utmost importance to keep his identity a secret, it was also a quick way to gain trust in another universe. "Kind of. My real name is Charles Wayne."

Bruce was somewhat surprised that the boy's name was Charles instead of Damian, but as he glared into the boy's eyes he could tell the young man wasn't lying. "Then let's hear what you came here to tell us."

Charles, Akaria, and Brianna had just arrived on Prime Earth, and after showing their abilities in taking down Gorilla Grodd, Superman has brought them to the Watchtower to tell their story. With the help of the Justice League, will the young heroes be able to stop whatever dark forces threaten the multiverse?
