Chapter 6
JD had told them to gather in Rhea's room when they will be back at the hotel. He decided to share the car with Finn and nobody else to keep his idea a surprise. The car ride to go back seemed long as they all wondered what he was up to, everyone coming with silly ideas.
- "Maybe he is going to make you become a wrestler" Rhea tried. They all laughed at that idea.
- "Maybe he wants to marry you?" Dom asked, making Rhea burst in laughter. JD getting married was an awkward idea.
- "In any case, you are coming to the show tonight, I promise you won't be disappointed" Damian chuckled. "Maybe the Judgment Day is going to kidnap you".
Mina didn't know what to think, all these ideas seemed crazier than the others and she was scared about the two Irish men idea. She focused on the road in front of her. Damian had insisted that she took the passenger seat as they shared the same music tastes, so nobody could complain about the playlist. "Perfect alibi." He sung happily during the ride as some Rob Zombie tracks were playing.
Back to Rhea's room, they were all gathered on the bed as JD took place on the chair, Finn proudly standing next to him.
- "I called the boss" JD started. "I talked to him about our Mina and… he agreed to give her a job!" He continued with an excited smile.
- "Wait… Don't tell me you are actually going to make me become a wrestler!" Mina shouted, looking at Rhea with fear on her face. She flexed her biceps to show how poorly muscled she was, no bump appeared on her arm.
- "Sorry Sweety, but I don't think that job is for you" said JD trying to hold back a laugh.
- "Are you scared you would be able to lose against her?" Damian teased with a mischievous gaze.
- "Mina! Please help me! The big guy is mean to me!" JD pleaded, pulling Mina in front of him as if to hide behind her. "Seriously, her jackets are a total success in the locker room and our old dress maker Bonnie went to retirement two weeks ago, her place is vacant."
- "Isn't it a dream job for our Rapunzel?" Finn finished.
Mina's eyes widened in surprise as she heard her friends' idea. Of course, that would be a good opportunity for her as long as she could pass the job interview. It would also allow her to leave the city and be safe from Greg.
Rhea, Dominik and Damian applauded at the idea. "There is not only thin air going through this big head".
- "It means that she will stay with us and follow us everywhere!" JD shouted, hugging Mina from behind.
She was feeling like a puppy who would just have been adopted, but she was infinitely grateful to her friends who did so much for her.
The next day, the six of them headed to the arena. JD took Mina to another entrance so the fans gathering next to the doors would not bother her by creating a buzz on the social media. It was her first time in an arena, she was so impressed by the size of the building, the number of corridors and doors they had to pass through to find their friends that she had to hold JD's arm. All together, they crossed two corridors, climbed stairs walked to another corridor to finally come in front of a closed door.
- "Ya ready to meet the Boss, Sweety?" JD asked her, putting a hand on her shoulder.
Ready? She was not sure. She had prepared her reference book and her Curriculum Vitae, dressed with a light purple shirt under a black blazer, straight black pants completed the look so she seemed as a serious business woman. Rhea had helped her taming her hair into a huge bun adding hair clips, so it didn't look too messy. She had not attended a job interview for ages, one of the good points of having your own shop.
She felt a big warm hand putting something in hers, raising her gaze, she saw Damian smiling at her. Opening her hand, she saw the little leather clover which had started all this adventure. "For good luck" she read on his lips. Her heart grew stronger as she answered JD.
- "Ready!"
JD knocked on the door and opened it.
- "Hey Boss, I brought Mina, the dressmaker I told you about on the phone."
- "Nice to meet you, sir I am…" Mina started but was interrupted by the man standing in front of her.
- "I will make it quick, are you able to work fast and efficiently? Here you need to be quick and discreet. Wrestlers will come to you with emergency repair to do in a few minutes, it is a show, not a retirement home; they need to be perfect for the public, so you have to be creative. You will have to keep your mouth shut outside of the arena and come everywhere we go. If you are not able to do that, you're wasting my time." He said with a hard tone and a cold glare. "What a jerk"
Damian was ready to reply but Mina outpaced him.
- "Sir, have a look at my reference book, these are all the outfits I created. I ran my own shop for several years, so I know how to take orders and to sew. I heard that you really need a new dressmaker and here I am. Do you think I would waste your time if I was not sure of my skills?"
Her voice was soft but sounded firm. The office went silent as the boss and Mina entered a staring fight. The whole Judgment Day was stunned at how confident she looked towards her skills in sewing, this was a new Mina they discovered in that office. Her emerald eyes were sparkling with her strong will and she stood straight, not ready to give up on anything about her skills and experience. Sewing was her art and this room was her arena. The silence broke when Gunther slammed the door open.
- "Hunter, we have a problem, there is no tailor anymore and my suit jacket is torn." He said, holding the said jacket in one hand, a hole in the back. "There is no way I sign this contract tonight with a torn suit".
Hunter sighed and pinched his nose with a hand.
- "Listen, Gunther…." He started.
- "Excuse me Herr, would you allow me to have a look at your jacket, I might be able to help you" Mina said with her soft voice, examining the tear. "It looks like the central seam broke; I can fix it within a few minutes. Would you agree bitte?"
Gunther gave her his jacket with a puzzled look. He saw Mina taking a sewing kit from her purse and pick a thread that would fit the colour of the garment. Her gaze went focused as she skilfully stung the needle through the fabric.
- "You speak German?" Gunther asked.
- "Just a few words I learned here and there" Mina calmly answered while examining her work before tying the last knot and cutting the thread with her teeth. "Here you are, it should do it but I advise you to avoid doing to much big gestures with your arms. I also suggest you buy your next suit one size bigger."
- "Danke schön, Fraulein…?"
- "Mina!" Hunter answered "She is signing right now to be our new tailor. I'm going to print your contract".
Mina's eyes sparkled with surprise and joy; she had made it, she had put the first stone of her new life with her skills. "What a girl!" Her friends were behind her, supporting her and giving her the biggest smile when she faced them. Hunter came back with the contract and after reading it she signed it, politely thanked her new boss, and headed back towards the whole Judgment Day. Proudly holding her contract, she jumped in their arms as they all cheered her before leading her to what will be her new office.
After being introduced to the crew and repairing minor damages to various garments, she obtained from Hunter to assist to the show for this time to gather ideas for new garments for bigger events. She joined the Judgment Day in their club house one last time before the show. She thanked them from the bottom of her heart and hugged everyone of them, finishing by Damian. She took his massive hand to put the little leather clover in it.
- "For good luck" she whispered to him "Thank you so much Damian." Then she faced her other friends. "Good luck guys, please be safe." And left the club house to head to the seat that was booked for her. "She will drive me crazy".
The show started and Mina was amazed by the atmosphere, the music and the wrestler's performance. She saw Gunther signing his contract with his opponent, his suit perfectly repaired. Then Rhea came in the ring, talking about her title and how she was the best when Nia Jax stormed in to hit her. Seeing her friend in so much trouble scared her but she new Rhea was alright. Then came the Judgment Day, wearing the jackets she had made. Damian's deep and powerful voice echoed in the arena, making her shudder, she noticed the clover hanging at his belt and smiled. She didn't expect the match to be so brutal and screamed in horror when she saw Finn be thrown through a wooden table. JD being sent flying across the ring was also spectacular but quite amusing. Mina wondered what kind of fabric was used to craft their briefs, so nothing never comes out of it. Blushing in amusement she kept cheering on her favourite team until they eventually win the match, their music thundering through the stadium.
As the arena slowly emptied, Mina held her accreditation card to a security guard to go back to the locker room and get her material ready to leave the place. She was surprised to see some garments on her sewing table, having a look at it, she saw the little sign on the pile saying "to repair". Her washing machine was already packed, ready to be transported to another place for the next show. She got lost in the corridors while trying to find the Judgment Day's club house; Gunther came to her rescue, helped by a younger blond man.
-"Fraulein Mina, thank you for the jacket. Here is Ludwig, if you need any help, you can ask him."
Mina quickly explained how she got lost and where she was heading to. Ludwig offered to guide her to her friends with a disappointed face. He didn't really like the Judgment Day. He left her in front of their door.
- "Did you like the show?" JD asked as Finn was driving to the hotel. Rhea and Dominik were going back with Damian.
- "I loved it! It was amazing! How are you guys able to perform all this stuff?" She answered with sparkling eyes.
They chatted during the ride and separated in front of the rooms. Dom was more than happy to spend another night with Rhea as the two of them entered Dom's room with a dirty smile. She showered quickly before putting her pyjamas on. Spotting Damian's clothes on the bed, she remembered she had forgotten to give it back to him. The black-haired lady was about to go to his room when she heard a knock on her door. Finn and Damian came in, asking her how she felt, if she will be okay tonight.
- "Don't worry about me guys. Are you injured? You took some nasty hits."
- "Don't worry about that." Finn answered. "We are more worried about you and how you feel after, you know… all that." He said, trying to explain himself with his hands.
- "Don't worry, really. You know, it was not my first time being raped by Greg. I just thought that this time I was going to die and it was frightening. I am used to my body not really being mine, you know. I'm okay." Her eyes went empty. Finn hugged her tightly and whispered some comforting words to her ears.
- "You are stronger than you look Rapunzel. Never forget we will always be here for you." He left the room after telling her they will be leaving early the next morning.
Damian was about to follow him when she grabbed his arm.
- "I-I forgot to give you back your clothes" she said giving him the shorts and T-shirt.
"Dammit" He took the clothes and hugged her tight, stroking her hair. He felt her body through the fabric of her pyjamas and had to focus to remain calm. "Fuck! Calm down man!"
- "No song tonight?" He asked teasingly.
- "You must be tired, maybe another day. Goodnight, Damian."
- "Goodnight Mina, sleep tight and hit the wall if you need anything".
He left the room and went directly to bed, the clothes he had given Mina laying next to his pillow, gently sniffing her smell until he fell asleep. He didn't hear the faint scratching noise on the wall behind his head.
