To build a nation

Izuku is currently holding onto a feral ghouls head attached to spinal columb as he uses it as a blunt club to beat down on a bark scorpion grunting as he kills it with one gibal swing from the makeshift weapon. Izuku's entire plan ruined by a bunch of fucking ferals and a glowing one beating the satalite to get at the radioactive materials inside. Turning on his heels Izuku heads out towards the mountain pass and going into Novac. As a few raiders make a small ambush shooting a 20mm grenade at Izuku. Hearing the thump from the launcher Izuku reacts as quickly as possible and pulls out his ranger sequoia and with vats targets the grenade shooting it. The bullet nails the grenade and blows it up forcing izuku to race forward and leaps behind one of the cars before ducking back and narrowly dodging a baseball bat to the head as he shoots the female jackal raider in the face. Picking her up he uses her as a shield and pops out of the barrier he's using and shoots the raiders. Groaning in annoyance as they're delaying him.

After that little distraction Izuku walks north following the road towards Novac and runs into the ghouls he helped with the rockets to leave towards their promised land. Speaking Jason Bright Izuku learns what they're doing here and how a legions remnant camp is trying to attack Novac. Izuku hearing that sighs and shakes his head before agreeing and helping them out once again to defend Novac. Hopefully the others would be okay with a slight delay in his arrival time.

The Think Tank

"So what you're saying is that its impossible to fix this damn device without Izuku here and you lost the fucking satellite signal?" Miruko says as everyone else including a barely conscious All-Might.

"THAT IS CORRECT! IT IS UNPOSSIBLE TO FIX THE DEVICE...BY OPPENHEIMER WHICH OF YOU SELF PROFESSED GENIUSES KEEP MESSING WITH MY VOLUME KNOB? HAVEN'T I MADE REPARATIONS TO YOU WITH MY PAST ACTIONS?" Dr. Klein says as everyone is currently watching his robotic body float in the air and light up as he speaks.

"Remember it's 8 who's best at sound waves so DON'T try blaming me again Klein!" Dr.0 says as Dala speaks.

"Everyone of you needs to calm down. We have guests of the courier with us. We're sorry Mrs.Courier but Izuku was the brain child behind the Transportal Ponder. He and us created it sure and we can actually build another one but sadly we only have the needed equipment to build the device. The problem is that we're missing a few of the needed materials that go into its production." Dr.Dala speaks as she watches miruko sigh a bit.

"I get it, what do you need? Me and my mother in law Inko can leave and get them." Miruko says as Dr Borous kicks in.

"It is I Doctor Borous. I have news coming from an ancient contact. Dr Robert house is calling us on the main video screen." Dr. Borous speaks as everyone is confused.

"THAT JERK IS CALLING US? Science damn you robert! I thought i outlived your pompous robotic specialist butt! Hang up on him in the most rude way possible!" Dr.0 says as the screen pops up with izuku's face on it.

"Think tank i need a hand. I know you idiots are there answer me!" Izuku yells. His current attire is the checkered suit Benny wore before izuku literally beat him to death with his own torn off legs.

"Izuku sweety! Oh god why are you at the lucky 38? What happened to the satellite?" Miruko asks as all the students and teachers look at the screen.

"Pack of roaming ferals found the damn thing and tore it apart to get the at the radioactive materials inside it. Fuckers demolished the damn thing. Thankfully i scavenged what i could. I can build another transportal ponder to get me to the BIG MT but i needed access to houses securitron manufacturing base. So i came here to get a digital override code for the base at the old legion camp. Along the way i ran into esther you remember her right?" Izuku asks miruko who blushes some and chuckles.

"course! how's she doing?" Miruko asks as Izuku sighs.

"She's horny and looking to mate. Sad fact is she chose me and you know how deathclaws are sweetheart." Izuku says as miruko laughs a bit before wiping a tear from her eyes.

"Oh god sweety, you pound that deathclaw pussy twice as hard as mine so she gets it in her head who's the damn Alpha. Now, sweetheart the think tank can't build another transportal ponder to home because they don't have the materials here. Do you know where they are so i and the others can hunt them down?" Miruko asks as Izuku sighs and shakes his head a little bit.

"I do but they aren't inside big mountain. The materials we need are pretty advanced and the only other place in the wasteland we could get them is in Boston and the vaults there. Boston has plenty of vaults in it and one that was never even completed. Don't worry sweetheart, we'll be together soon. I'll make my way to Big Mountain via transportal Ponder and we can plan how to get back home together with the others." Izuku says as Miruko melts at his words before All-Might speaks up.

"Young Midoriya, i have heard from these brains and the robotic devices in your room about your past exploits and seen plenty of those holotapes of your abilities. I trust you to get us home in one piece no matter how long it takes. But i have to know the answer to this. Is it true that entire nation was built by you and the route you walked between NCR and the Mojave? I heard it several times but i just can't fathom it." All-Might asks as before Izuku goes to answer a new voice entirely speaks.

"A nation, yes. One built on the back of that man trying to follow in his shadow." Ulysses speaks shocking the others as Miruko smiles at the man.

"How did he build an entire nation by himself just walking between two places?" All-Might asks the man as Izuku watches from the screen as he transfered the call to his pipboy so he can listen, answer in and keep everyone updated as he walks out of the lucky 38 with Cass and Esther beside him.

"He walked the Mojave without a flag on his back. It was thought impossible. Can't walk the long 15 and not have a nations shadow fall on you. Others tested him, thought he believed in nothing." Ulysses says as he walks towards the brains delivering to them a small package.

"Who are you stranger i see that miruko isn't worried but i need to know for my students safety." Midnight says as Ulysses sighs and turns to her.

"I'm a courier. Like courier 6 there. Was a courier before, left to let him come to me after tracking him down for so long. Thought letting Him carry the chip would have ended him. He's got lives in him. Storms, bullets... Sand and wind. Yet still he walks." Ulysses says as he turns to All-Might again.

"Did you help him build his nation?" All-Might asks hoping for an answer.

"Never met him before The Lonesome Road into the Divide. Words aren't the only way couriers meet however. Sometimes it's the paths we walk. We may have never met before then but we've walked the same places. The long 15 to primm. That wasn't the only road we walked. I've been to his home. The place he kept returning to... may not be the place he was born, was the place he gave life to, same thing. People forget couriers keep communities alive...until the day they're gone, and their breath catches in their throat." Ulysses says as he looks into All-Mights eyes whose widen and nods.

"What's your name sir? We only know you as a courier and it would be rude to talk to you like that." Momo speaks in perfect english as Ulysses turns to her.

"Ulysses. Not my given name but close enough, took it from history, found it in a book. It's an Old World name. Ulysses lived a long time before the Old World set fire to itself. He made a mark without being Myth. Had to fight when his world had two flags and he had to make them one." Ulysses says as Momo immediately knows who he speaks of but is beaten to the punch by Pony.

"Oh! You chose Ulysses S Grant! Not the myth Ulysses from his odyssey but the civil war fighter!" Pony speaks as Izuku chimes in.

"He chose Ulysses because of the " Two flags" reference - it was tied to the war in the mojave at the time." Izuku says as he's once again in his newly cleaned Survivalist Riot Gear.

"I see, so it was a symbol for skirmish between NCR and this Caesars Legion. Atleast they were easily distinct symbols to get behind." All-Might says as he remembers what Nedzu had discussed with him about Izuku's file.

"War, called that sure. Especially our part in it. At the time Ulysses wasn't made for the flag he followed. He wasn't made for peace. That was the lesson. If you follow a symbol to the end, ask yourself what that means. More important, ask what happens after it ends." Ulysses says before turning to Pony and answering.

"History, yes. Ulysses walked a hard road. A general, like Caesar and Oliver. He was brahmin-stubborn, gave him strength on the battlefield. He led his side to victory, turned two flags into one. That's when he lost - when the fighting was done, the sickness took hold. Lesson there, if history is to be believed. One he heeded." Ulysses says as he turns to leave as midnight asks him a question.

"Izuku told us about this world sometimes before we wound up here. How often do you couriers have to fight and kill in this world?" Midnight asks hoping to get an answer.

"Us killing? For fun, No... No, we couldn't. If we did, we'd answer for it. Let the land do the killing for you. That's one of the things Courier 6 taught me. Killing is personal - so's vows, promises. Last bits more important to me than the first." Ulysses says to her as He speaks from his memories of stories he heard.

"So wait you were both of opposing nations? Him with none and yours? Is that why you said you let him carry the chip? Were you meant to carry it?" All-Might asks hoping to learn more about Ulysses.

"Meant to? No. Never. His burden. Weight him down long enough to let death catch up to him... but he survived. There was death in that package, and while the chip was important to Old World Ghosts... no, he was more dangerous than that chip could ever be. Maybe why they found each other, little piece of the Old World, speaking to him, waiting for him to wake something else up with it." Ulysses says as he and the others are all sitting in the sink as the call was transferred to the sink central intelligence by Dr.0 so the call is now showing Izuku and his companions as they walk the mojave in a rather impressive 3d Holographic display.

"So you refused to deliver the chip - what, to set Izuku up to die?" 13 asks as it takes everything miruko has to keep Inko from killing Ulysses.

"We all have death following us, only a question of how close. He dodged it - for a time. He's good at that, talent for it. With that chip weighing him down... a burden, lets death move a little faster without me pulling the trigger." Ulysses says as he inko yells.

"If you wanted my baby dead why did you wait?" Inko asks as she agreed with miruko and decided to not kill this man yet.

"Promises to keep. To others. And the Mojave's dangerous enough - left to the land, the land has its way. If i wanted him dead, we would have met sooner. History already had it's way. At the time messages did the job." Ulysses says as All Might speaks up.

"So what about izukus nation can you tell me?" All might hopes to get things back on track as everyone listens intently.

"The Divide... that place is a slice of it. Old military, can still smell thebpride - and the fear. Hope of the Old World, wrapped in fencing, covered in storms. It's got new inhabitants now other than ghosts. More recent...recruits." Ulysses says as he brings up a PIP-Boy of his own showing pictures of the divide.

"The damage there looks like it was caused by underground detonations - on a scale never before seen by anyone." Midnight says as she loons at it.

"America sleeps in the divide - giants, beneath the earth. He saw one locked in the silo beneath hopeville. There's more. Only takes a few of them, locked below ground, to tear apart the earth... And cast dust, sand...ash...into the skies above." Ulysses says as he sighs.

"My god so that is what remains of young Midoriyas nation?" All Might asks as Ulysses nods.

"Many think the divide is only canyon, empty. There was life, a town, father west... Not talking about an Old World town like hopesville... more recent. Something he saw in his lifetime. It had the name "The Divide," too. But rather thank cracks in the earth, it was a road from the West into the mojave, a supply line. Took Courier 6 to make that road. He. Back then, he saw the road with eyes facing East. All roads lead back home. Not birthplace maybe, but home. Home isn't where you're born into this world. Courier 6 taught me that. Part of his message, whether he meant to or not. Can be a place of mind, a moment where you know who you are, the history of it. And they can be places you breathe life into. Never would have known the Divide had it not been for him. The road he made with his tracks, again and again. Courier 6 was the only one willing to make the journey to and from there... a hard road. Kept the land before the Divide alive through seasons, storms... can't have been just a job. Was something more to it. Don't feel for a place that hard unless it's home." Ulysses says as he remembers to show pictures of drawings made of Courier 6 and his triumphs.

"But he was a courier. He could have walked plenty of roads before and after. His path could have meant nothing." All might says as Izuku on the hologram projection is currently ripping the face off a legion soldier remnant attacking Novac as Boone snipes them from Dinky and cass and Esther are fighting in the background.

"It meant everything - even if you deny it, cast it aside, that speaks of what you are, proves what happened there. It was Courier 6 walking that road that kept the Divide alive. It grew from he did. Settlers... camps... filling that Old World city. Chance for a new nation, new begining. New way of thinking. COurier 6 breathed life into the Mojave, bridging East, West. Like hoover dam... but not Old World, something he made. Road was a supply line. NCR saw the worth in that road Courier 6 made. Staked a claim, whether it was wanted there or not - true elsewhere in the Mojave. And where the bear tries to cling to life, the Legion comes... bearing messages. Some brought by blade. Others... by couriers." Ulysses says as he watches izuku charge into a garage infront of Dinky only to come out wearing a full set of X-02 remnant Power Armor and wielding a plasma caster he then slams a fusion core into which spins up like a laser minigun before blasting hundreds of balls of green energy into the charging ranks literally liquefying them the same way Nomu did as the legion remnants fall back towards I88 running from Izuku who gets out of the power armor and stores it inside his pipboy.

"The Divide was destroyed by this Caesar?" All might asks as he flinches back along with the others at the sight of Izuku and his skills at combat and even his diplomacy in how he speaks with others.

"No. Courier 6 delivered a package. Had markings that matched those in the Divide. Not all... but enough. Military markings, from some place the Bear had savaged in the West. Maybe seeing those markings on it reminded him of home... made him carry it. Least i thought. Job, from Brotherhood of Steel, drop off location was a hidden cache for scribes to grab needed supplies. Brotherhood wanted to experiment with the package." Ulysses says as All Might sighs.

"So young midoriya was bringing it from the West coast towards the Divide." All Might asks as he sees Izuku speaking with NCR rangers and officials who know what Oliver was like and is discussing about some items he needs from Helios 1 power farm.

"The package, it was a device, a detonator. One I'd never seen before - or heard before. Courier 6 carried that thing to the Divide. I know because i followed him as he walked the road. Watched him do it. He brought it there, to the community he built. And to me he was responsible for what happened after - when the device opened, started to speak. When it did, the Divide answered back. Those missiles, buried in their silos. They exploded beneath the ground, cracked the landscape. Sand, ash... the dead... the Divide skies became a graveyard." Ulysses says as his memories play of bodies being blown sky high and launched miles away.

"Wait if you saw it happen, shouldn't you have died?" 13 asks as she too is invested in the story as they watch Izuku do his work live as he sneaks past raider camps heading down I88 going towards Cottonwood Cove.

"Should've died there... but the machines there saved me. I was the only survivor, or thought i was. Courier 6's package, the message inside, awoke medical machines... close to the one that shadows him... began to build themselves, then others. They only take what parts they find in the divide, never roam beyond it - can't even leave the silos without a human to shadow, like hounds. Maybe they saw the flag on my jacket, thought i was of America. If so, history saved me. A sign." Ulysses says as he sighs.

"Don't know why he brought it. Device simple machinery outside, electronics inside. Really advanced. First time i heard a piece of equipment talk in the divide. First one with a voice that is. I walked East, Courier 6 walked West more than i ever did. Circle Junction, Reno, Vault City. Word of him at Fort Aradeth... Fort Abandon. Even further west than that. Brahmin drives on the Big Circle. Whatever he saw out there, wasn't enough to make him stay. Maybe the markings on the package reminded him of the road home. Always felt if he had been there when it happened. If he had seen the Divide break, he would know he was responsible. Now not so much. He carries death wherever he goes - if the Mojave itself doesn't know it yet, it will soon." Ulysses says as he smiles watching izuku once again walk the roads of the mojave as he sees Izuku at Cottonwood cove sailing towards Caesars camp. Standing up Ulysses looks to All Might.

"Courier 6 taught me one final lesson after the fall of the Divide. The message he carried. The one in that package, whether he knew it or not. The message that one can kill a nation. How one can kill a symbol. And all that gather beneath it's flag. There was no point in the flags of the bear and the bull. The bear diseased and dying. The bull when reaching the sea would turn on itself and die. Killing one will end both. Courier 6 made me see how one could do it all with his lessons... his travelled roads. Perhaps you'll learn from him as well - just as i did, just as i have. Good lessons to learn, especially for building ones own nation or perhaps planting the flag of a nation you choose. I know wherever courier walks...the shadow of a nation follows, ready to live again. When that time comes... I'll once more see what i can learn... see if i can truly plant my flag and live as i choose. Goodbye everyone, learn well from courier 6. You'll need it." Ulysses says as he walks out of the sink to the think tank and out of the Big Mountain crater.

The holographic display of Izuku dies off just as Izuku enters into the securitron manufacturing and upgrade facility. All Might having a huge amount of new found respect for Izuku even feeling One for All agree with him.

"Young midoriya built a nation simply by carrying messages, packages and helping anyone along the way... His nation was so strong and it's people so hardy, it could have outlived two other competing ones...to have accidentally brought your own nation to its grievous end. My god. That man truly is a hero." All Might says as Miruko laughs a bit.

"Shit yeah he is! Best part is that like a few hundred tribes scattered throughout Nevada, Utah and Colorado all believe Izuku to be a fucking god. I mean i can't blame them, i once saw Izuku go toe to toe with a 30 foot tall fire breathing gecko named Gojira by locals and Izuku beat it to death with a barbwire baseball bat and his own damn hands. He made the thing swallow its own eyeballs before he caved its skull in. It was awesome!" Miruko says as she and everyone else hears the distinct crackle of electricity strike outside.

U.A. Principals office

"So you're saying that you don't know how to make it? That you can't even begin to understand the notes? David, are you joking?" Nedzu asks as David Shield is frantically scribbling down notes and and muttering before answering.

"Nedzu i swear to god that i am 100% serious. This device you describe and the notes you showed me? It literally shatters the very concept of our perceivable reality and calls into question quite literally EVERYTHING WE ONCE KNEW WAS SCIENTIFIC FACT! We recreated the robots Izuku midoriya built for UA... The damn weakest one of the line the Mr. Gutsy model? It raped our security processes and hijacked the entire island calling us communists and started setting any one not registered in its data banks as american ON FIRE! if it wasn't that it shot them with those plasma projectiles and turned them to goop. Nedzu, Izuku Midoriya quite literally shook the scientific world here to the core and shattered every notion of impossible there ever was. We BARELY got that robot working after literally creating all the needed components from scratch Including the operating system, the so called Robco termalink protocols. That child is a genius. I couldn't even begin to understand the concept of what i was looking at let alone build it." David shield says as he rubs his face tiredly.

"We at I-Island have been working on this project ever since you sent that Joshua Graham person over to deliver the notes and blueprints created by midoriya ... No one here can recreate it. Barely anyone knows what they're looking at! As much as we tried to recreate this "transportal ponder" we can't! The closest we got to it was our RD department being able to create a basic teleporter relay. Heres the simple explanation. We've set up a simple EM frequency playing classical music to be a carrier signal for the relay. That station uses specific EM and RF signals and frequencies to transmit data via harmonic frequencies. With the relay we created, when activated, it will turn any matter inside it and turn it into transmittable data which we can send literally Anywhere. Nedzu, we failed to build the transportal ponder and our failure lead to the discovery of functional teleportation travel. Not only that but because of him and his notes we were able to successfully build our own nuclear fusion reactor for I-Island... Not nuclear fission Nedzu NUCLEAR FUSION! As in COLD FUSION! LIKE THE FUCKING SUN! Do you understand how disastrous this information is to the world at large? Izuku Midoriya is the only person able to create that device. We can't help you nedzu... I can't help my daughter. But god damn it if i don't believe that kid Midoriya is able to save her and bring her back to me. Nedzu i have to go. Me and the other execs here at I-Island believe we need to shut down the relay... This technology is too dangerous for us. We're too tempted to recreate it all. Im sorry Nedzu." David says as he hangs up the call making Nedzu sigh as he looks at his desk.

"Yet again that boy midoriya proves just why he is hero material. Even when he isnt here he's helping people simply by his mere existence. Still, If I-Island cant recreate it than we really can only wait. Still its so fascinating to see things like this. They failed to create the dimensional boring device yet the failure lead to teleportation and nuclear fusion being discovered here. Izuku my dear boy, truly words can not describe how far you will take humanity as a hero and an engineer." Nedzu says while looking at an assaultron charge towards a trespassing news anchor only to tase him with a tesla arc canon and subdue him.

"Yes truly humanity shall reach far into the future under your banner. What ever nation you build will truly be a marvelous one."
