Chapter 9

Robert was carrying their bags as they walked up the dock. "How you feeling, sweety?"

"Grateful we are off that bloody boat." They had hit some rough seas the twenty-four hours.

"I know you thought we shouldn't stay here but you need to rest, Luv. We can lay low here. Drive over to Colon tomorrow and Mrs. Thompson will be renting the hotel today."

Since she had spent the better part of the last twenty-two hours suffering from severe seasickness, Robert made a good point. Anna would not be able to handle being in a car right now. The fact he knew it would be a good idea to cover their trial and use the other alias made her happy too. "Yeah, I think Beth should. No need to make this too easy on anyone interested in us."

Robert grinned at her, "Lyle knows a few things still, it's just a little hard to keep all these wives' names straight."

Anna laughed, "That's good. Beth, Roxie and Anna might need help along the way. Now come on, I want to go lie down somewhere that isn't moving." She leaned against his arm as they walked away.

Mac was glad that Robin's mood seems to have improved. He knew none of this could be easy on her but she did appear to be doing better now that Holly is no longer staying at the house. Yeah, he is still often busy in the evening. The Outback needed his attention too but knowing Robin isn't having to stress over when the next time she would be grilled to talk about her feelings gave him a little peace of mind.

Robin had even gone out with her friends earlier. They were going to hang out at the mall. Mac was fairly certain this was the first time she had done that in quite a while. He hated seeing her struggle like she has been.

Mac was sitting in his office at the club thinking about all of this when another thought came to mind. Had one of Robin's parents been here? Could one of them have come here to see her? Sean was right, it was probably better not to ask Robin about this but Mac couldn't help but wonder.

If one of them had been here, how long did they stay? Was it possible they were still in the area? Are they around but in hiding? Mac couldn't help it, he believes his brother is still alive. He never thought those pictures the WSB showed them proved anything. Now they are here watching them, why? What other reason could it be? It had to have something to do with Robby and Anna. He knows it does.

From Colon, Roxanne and Stephen Conner caught a plane over to Jamaica then another over to Haiti. After back-to-back flights, Anna wanted to give Robert a day to rest. Then after that, over three days they move from island to island, by boat or plane eventually, they made their way to the Bahamas. When they arrived Anna insisted that they get a room for at least one night. If tomorrow, Robert still seemed as tired as he does at the moment they will stay another.

"You're overreacting. I'll be fine."

"I know you will be because we are going to rest to make sure we aren't overdoing it. You have a head injury and I don't want to make it worst."

"I just want to get there already so I can see a bloody doctor."

"You will but first we are going to rest. This is not up for discussion!"

"Anna!"

"No. We are doing this my way! I don't know what these flights might have done to you. We have been watching our backs since Panama City when you said you had a bad feeling about the man at the car rental place. I'm tired. You're tired and need to get some real sleep. We can discuss how you feel about taking one last, longer flight while we take a break here."

"Alright, you win." Robert could tell Anna was not going to change her mind and she was right he could use a good night's sleep. Robert reached out and grabbed her hand, they smiled at each other then he pulled her closer. "I'll make you a deal. We will stay two nights to give my head a rest, yes I have been getting headaches a little more often. But you owe me a day lounging in beach chairs in the sun. We've been hiding inside since you found me. I'll rest but I want to do it sitting in the sun with this sexy woman beside me." Robert leaned in and kissed her tenderly.

"I think I can agree to your terms." Anna smiled up at him, "Thank you."

He grinned back, "Let's go get a room then we need to find a bikini for you."

"Oh, do we get to pick each other's beachwear?" she asked with a laugh.

"Um, I think input should be allowed." He leaned in and kissed her nose. Robert already loves this woman he knows that's true but it also feels like he's falling in love with her all over again. "Come on, let's go." They turned and walked off hand in hand.

With her eyes closed, Anna sat soaking up the rays as she listened to the waves. Robert was stretched out in the chair beside her. They were holding hands but neither was talking. It seemed they both wanted to recharge, relax and enjoy the beautiful day.

The night before they had talked and both had said they didn't believe they were being followed. They had been careful and it would have been hard for anyone to follow their trail. It felt good to not be on high alert, looking over their shoulder.

"Mmmm, I'm getting hot. I think we should go for a little swim."

With an arched eyebrow, Robert looked over. "That's a great idea." He stood up and offered her his hand. Anna smiled as she took it, they walked down to the water's edge. It was warm so they wadded in up to their waists then Robert pulled her close and kissed her. "Thank you for agreeing to this. We needed a break."

"Yes, we did." Anna put her arms around his neck and he smiled. Suddenly, Anna screamed then started laughing as he picked her up, cradling her in his arms, then started spinning her around. They have found each other again. When he put her down they started splashing each other, laughing and enjoying the beautiful day. The best part was simply being together.

After playing in the water for a while they made their way back up to their beach chairs. "So we don't do cruises, do we do holidays like this?" Robert asked as they sat down.

"We hadn't yet, but we had been talking about things we wanted to do and beach vacation did come up."

"Then we are making this a mini beach vacation. We are going out tonight. I want to dance, I want to have some fun." There was an excited twinkle in his eyes.

Anna smiled, that sounded like a perfect night. "Yeah, alright. I think we could both use a little fun." She knew the last time either of them truly had fun would have been around Christmas. "We need a night of dancing, we've earned it."

He wanted to kiss her, he wanted to take her back to their motel and make love to her but that isn't going to happen. Robert grinned to himself, there's no rule against touching. "I think I need to reapply your sunscreen. I don't want you to burn."

Anna grinned, "No, we don't want that." She knew what he was actually thinking about because she was as well. She loved having his hands on her and wished they could be together. Hopefully soon, she thought as his hands started moving over her bareback. Anna closed her eyes, his touch is intoxicating. Anna grinned when she felt his lips on her neck. Today there was going to be a lot of flirting, they are going to push that limit a little too far and it was going to be a wonderful kind of torment.

Dressed for their date, in a simple sundress and a pair of sandals, Robert could hardly look away. Anna looks, "Exquisite," he mused. "I am a very lucky man. You're smart. You can take care of yourself and me. You seem to really like me and you radiate beauty. Oh, and you're sexy as all get out."

"All that makes you lucky, does it?" Anna asked as she walked over to him, a smile on her lips.

"It does. The amazing woman I'm talking about just happens to be my wife."

"Oh really?"

"Well that's what she tells me, yeah," he said making them both laugh as they put their arms around each other. Today was fun and flirty, they were not going to talk about what they are facing, that had been agreed on without either of them actually having to say it.

"Do you know what else she tells you?" He shook his head. "It's time to go. We have reservations and this is our first date night in over six months. I want romance, I want dancing. I already have the most handsome man on my arm so what are we waiting for?"

"What are we waiting for?" Robert stepped out of the embrace then help out his arm, "Shall we?"

"We shall." With bright smiles on their faces, they left their room.

...

When they had finished eating Robert leaned forwards, putting his elbows on the table. "Are you having as much fun as I am?"

Over dinner, they had been people-watching. Making up stories to go with the random people that were also at this little restaurant. Robert had started it, shortly after they had been seated. He wants her desperately but they are waiting and because of that he had needed to tone down the flirting some. It was that or he'd be sleeping in the tub so he'd keep his hands off her tonight.

"I am and I'm looking forwards to dancing with you when the band starts playing. Look." Robert turned to see the band was just arriving. "I have always loved dancing with you."

They were at a small table so he moved a little closer, "Do tell."

"The first night we danced, then later when we kissed. That was it, I knew. I think it scared me for about ten seconds but then I just knew you were what was missing. Being that sure, that quickly." Anna tilted her head a little as she thought back. "It was a blast teasing each other. Oh and you wanting to prove you knew what was best, I thought it was amusing. How quickly we reacted to serious stuff like a perfect team. We clicked in every way, and in the best ways." Anna bit her lip, as she grinned.

"You've always been this alluring." Robert knew he had always been captivated by her. She drew him in. Together, they've already proved even now they make one hell of a team. "I want you."

Anna leaned forward, putting one hand on his cheek, then leaned in even closer. "I know you do," she whispered, then nibbled his earlobe. "I don't think there's going to be a lot of slow dancing but I do see a lot of body contact."

"Tonight is going to be wonderful torture."

"For both of us."

Robert tilted his head and planted kisses along her neck. "The most wonderful thing is happening. I get to fall in love with you all over again." They turned to look at each other then he kissed her tenderly. He smiled and wiped a tear from her cheek.

"You aren't playing fair," she told him with a grin. Then Anna sat back, almost laughing. "We did this before the wedding." She leaned closer, "We, I think it was you actually got this idea that we should wait. After we were engaged you made us wait until we got married."

Robert got a confused look on his face, "Why would I do that?"

"I wish I knew, but even with how the honeymoon started," she grinned thinking about everything that happened, "we were well worth the wait."

"Now who's not playing fair?"

"You're right." Anna sat back and picked up her drink. Robert sat back as well, they were both grinning at each other. Anna bite her lip, there was no denying how much she wants him but teasing is all they get to do tonight. "I can't wait till I get to tie you up again." Then she slowly took a sip from her drink.

The images that started to flash in his head, the different scenarios, "How kinky are we?" he asked quietly.

Anna let out a laugh, "A little bondage. Only once did I leave you unable to get out of it though."

Oh, he loved hearing these things, "How did I get out then?"

"Well I came back twice, once I yelled more I'm pretty sure, then the second time I knew if I let you go I wasn't getting away unharmed so I sent a friend to do it. He never told anyone how he found you."

Robert was grinning listening to her, "How did he find me?"

"Shirtless tied to a pillar in your apartment. We started dating shortly after that," she explained with a big smile.

"Shirtless, tied to a pillar."

"Yeah, I stormed out in my underwear the night before. You had said some mean things. A while before this we had gotten into a terrible fight. Robin got sick of it and told us that we had to make up. We took the making-up part much further than I think she meant. That night I think we both finally started to realize what had been there all along. We were both finally single at the same time and a few months later we got remarried."

"So you don't take my crap? You get me better than other people add that to the rest of it. You really are my perfect woman."

"Yes, I am." The band was now playing, a few couples were even up dancing already. "Your perfect woman wants to dance. Don't worry I'll lead if we need."

"As long as I get to have you dancing up against me, sure I'll let you lead. This music is going to make your hips move in wonderful ways."

Anna held out her hand, "Dance with me."

Later that night happily they walked hand in hand enjoying the night air. When they got to their hotel room Anna opened the door. "I had a wonderful time today."

"So did I." She turned to look at him when he didn't let go of her hand. "It felt good being me today. I might not remember things, events but I know I spent the day with the woman I love, who loves me and for today none of the other stuff mattered." Robert slide his hand into her hair, pulling her close, they looked into each other's eyes then he kissed her passionately.

When the kiss ended Anna pushed herself away from him a little. That felt too good, that made her want more. Breathing heavily she smiled at him, "We need to stop that for now." He just grinned at her. "We agreed, once we were back in the room we had to behave."

"I'm not sure we were thinking clearly when we said that."

"We were thinking a lot clearer than we are now. We've done this before, gotten all hot and bothered but knew it wasn't going anywhere." Anna turned and looked around the room, "Of course, we weren't married or sleeping in the same bed at the time."

"Why would we do that to ourselves?"

She turned back to him, "Oh one of the easiest covers we have is being a couple. Happily, we threw ourselves into the role, we like to make sure people really believe we are together. Even if one of us might have been married at the time."

"Sounds like we just wanted an excuse to make out and not have people question it."

Anna grinned, "Maybe?" She looked over at the bed. "How are we going to do this?"

Robert walked over and put his hand on her back. "You are going to get settled into bed while I go have a shower. I will take my time, give us both a little space, maybe enough time to relax some. Then I'll come to bed."

"Thank you."

He leaned in and kissed her nose. "Thank you for today." Then he turned and left her alone in the room.
