Chapter 18

"Let's go over to Dartmouth today," Anna suggested to her distracted husband. Robert has his first appointment with Dr. Trevor Fulford tomorrow and she knew he was having a hard time relaxing. "We could take a ferry ride across the harbour and spend the day there just being tourists. We need to do something different. We can't just sit in our room for another day."

Robert grinned over at her, he knew Anna was tired of being here. That she wanted to be back in Port Charles just as much as he does. "I think that sounds like a wonderful idea. I could use the distraction."

"That's what I was thinking. A day out would be a nice change of pace." Anna started gathering a few things she would need for the day. "Can we just be us today? I don't want to think about why we're here or what you're still dealing with."

Robert was by the balcony door, "I'd like that very much. I'm just not sure I can shut it off. It's frustrating, I should know more by now."

Anna put down her purse then walked over to Robert and leaned against his arm as her other hand stroked his back. "We are going somewhere neither of us has been before. The only reason we are going there is to enjoy a new place and to have a nice time with the person we love. You could think about that."

He tilted his head toward her, "I could think about that," he agreed with a nod. "You're trying to say today we should just live in the moment."

"I am."

"I can do that."

"Good, let's go enjoy our day." Anna turned and started gathering her things again. "We'll have to ask about what kinds of things there are to do in Dartmouth. I'm sure we can find something we'll both enjoy."

Robert was already waiting by the door for her when she was ready. "I'm sure we will." With a smile on his face, Robert realized one of his favourite things to do is, live in the moment with Anna. It always leads to amazing things.

With a confident smile on his face, Sugarhi strolled into the hotel suite of his employer. "Make my words, you are going to be delighted to see me today, Mr. Sinclair. I have another picture for you, better quality and I know where that one was taken."

With a look of disgust on his face, Faison reached out his hand. "Show me what you have. I'll let you know if it's what I asked for." He took a drag of his cigar as he looked down at the offered photo.

"That is a better picture of the woman the WSB is interested in." He handed over the photo with a cocky smile, he was positive this would impress Sinclair. That this was what he was looking for.

Faison was now studying the photo closely. This very well could be Anna. He turned the picture slightly as he tried to get a better angle of her face. The quality of the photo still wasn't that great but it was better than the last one he had brought. "Where was this taken?"

"I am still working on narrowing that down but so far I can tell you both came from Nova Scotia, Canada. I'm still working on pinpointing that but since I did find the proof that they were from the same area I knew I had to show you the second photo."

"Thank you." He was still studying the photo, maybe it is her. How would she have gotten to Nova Scotia? Who is she there with? If the WSB is looking for her could she get that far without help? If she does have help, who is it? What had happened to Anna after the tanker explosion? In all that chaos, where had she gone? "Do you know if the WSB has made any arrangements to recover her from Nova Scotia?"

"I'm not sure, I hadn't even looked into that. I was more focused on finding the source. I can do a little digging into that for you now if you want. So far they haven't seemed to notice that I'm looking around."

There was an arrogant air about him that was annoying Faison today. "Don't get overconfident. There is always the real chance they know and are watching every little thing you are doing. Remember that."

"Right, of course." Sugarhi agreed but rolled his eyes at the same time. This guy thinks he knows so much. If he did he wouldn't be paying him so much to get this stuff for him.

"Go find me more information," he said then he started talking quietly to himself as he continued to study the photo. "This is good, this is almost all that I need. Once I'm confident, once I know that is her. I will only need to know when it's safe for me to go after her."

"Later," he said at being dismissed. "I'll be back when I know more." Sugarhi didn't need to be told twice, when it was time to go he never hung around. That man, Sinclair, gave him the creeps but the money was good so he didn't let it bother him that much.

It had been a few days since she had last been in and they knew tonight the other agent was watching Robin. With that in mind, Sean had asked Tiffany out on a date night at The Outback. They were seated and were already enjoying their meal. Conner was singing tonight so there would be dancing at some point. Tiffany did not need to know that Sean would be chatting with another woman tonight, that is just part of the reason for coming here. They do need to know if she's on the up and up though. Mac had agreed, Sean had to be the one that determined that for them.

They were finished their meal and were already on the dance floor when Ronda Norris arrived. She looked around the room and then made her way to the seat at the end of the bar that had become her usual spot. She hadn't seen Mac yet but hoped he'd be there to flirt with a little. She didn't think either of them thought anything was going to come from their flirting so she saw it as a little harmless fun.

Without her having to order one a gin sour was brought over to her by the bartender. "This one's on the house."

"Oh, well thank you." She glanced around but still didn't see Mac anywhere but assumed that was who would have sent the drink over to her. Not seeing him Ronda got a little more comfortable, then picked up her drink. She was turned so she could see the stage and watch the people on the dance floor. She really did like the atmosphere here, the music was always great. The people here always seemed to be enjoying themselves. It was a fun place to escape to.

After being there for a little while Ronda noticed someone walking toward her. That is Sean Donely and he is definitely walking toward her. A quick scan of the room and she saw that Mac is now dancing with the woman Sean had been dancing with. He came and stood at the bar close to her. "You keep watching the room while I order drinks. We don't need to draw attention to ourselves."

"Alright." She didn't move at all, just kept watching the people on the dance floor.

"You know who I am, correct?"

"I do," she said as she took a sip of her drink, casually watching the room.

"I would like another round for my table, please. Can you just send it over," he asked when the bartender approached. When they were alone again he said, "You aren't the type of person to use a young girl in some twisted plot are you?"

"I am not. What I am telling her I feel is important. If I was to take it to anyone else they would either have way too many questions or dismiss it. That won't help the people that need it. She will take the information to the people that want it and will use it."

"Yes she will and she has. Does Ross suspect you?"

"No, I don't think he even notices me most of the time."

"Alright, that's good. I am going to go rejoin my wife so there is no reason for him to start taking notice of what you do." Sean started to turn but stopped when she looked over at him. "Thank you, Ronda. We all appreciate what you are doing for them. Keep doing what you're doing." Then Sean walked away, he didn't go back to his table but over to another table where he asked a blonde to dance. Ronda smiled to herself then turned back to the bar and put her glass down.

So the little team here helping Anna and Robert know who she is, what she looks like and that she's been in contact with Robin. Sean Donely didn't have to say any of that for Ronda to know it. This had not been a chance meeting, he had been here tonight in the hopes of talking to her. That was fine with her. Besides, if Ronda is picking sides then this is the side she wants to be on.

Their day had been wonderful, the weather was beautiful all day. They had walked a lot just exploring the city. The art museum they found had been amazing. Robert knew they would be spending time there and he had even enjoyed it, well, he enjoyed watching Anna enjoy it. She could have spent the entire day there and been perfectly happy. They had gone out for a romantic dinner, then a little dancing before returning. After a soak in the tub, they had made love and should both be sleeping soundly.

They should be but Robert couldn't sleep, he couldn't relax at all. There was something bothering him but he couldn't figure out what it was. There was something on his mind but he couldn't pinpoint why it seemed so important. They hadn't thought about any of this all day. Not what he was dealing with. Not the possible threats that could still be out there. It had actually been a much-needed break. So why is it bothering him now?

Here he is, unable to sleep. Unable to stop his mind from trying to figure out, something. That is what is frustrating him the most at the moment. He can't remember what it is he is trying to figure out. Does that make sense? No that's not what it is. He knows something, he knows he does. It's something important but what is it? How can he figure this out if he can't even be sure what he's trying to think of?

Robert was sitting in a chair out on the balcony. It was a nice cool night and this way he wouldn't disturb Anna. It was as he lay in bed trying to fall asleep that he was hit with this feeling. Something happened, he had seen something or maybe he had heard it but he knows it's something that happened and he needs to tell Anna about it. So why can't he think of what it is?

"Why don't you come back to bed?" she asked sleepily from the doorway. Anna didn't know what time it was, only that she had woken up in bed alone.

He looked over at her, "I didn't want to keep you up, Luv."

"You not being there is why I'm up." Anna wrapped her arms around herself then walked over to Robert and sat down on his lap. He smiled and put his arms around her. "Do you want to talk about whatever's on your mind?"

Robert sighed, "I wish I could but I don't know what it is." He paused and looked out at the night sky. "I know I need to tell you something. It's right there and I know it has to be important."

"Are you worried about tomorrow? About meeting this other doctor?"

He shook his head, dismissively, "I don't feel worried, no. More than anything, I think I'm more impatient now. I want some answers. What kind of time frame are we looking at. What will it take to get my memory back completely? Hopefully, tomorrow I will know some of those things. I can't sleep because my head is trying to tell me something but I'm not healed enough to make the right connections. I know it's important. I feel like not knowing could be dangerous for us. I just can't figure out whatever it is."

Anna could tell how agitated he was. No wonder he couldn't sleep. "We can talk it out, maybe that will help trigger the right memory or something."

"It's worth a shot."

"Alright." Then she leaned in and kissed his cheek making him grin. "What do you know? Why do you think this is important?"

"Well, I can't shake this feeling that I need to tell you something and that it's important. I also think it's about something that happened since you found me."

Anna slowly nodded as he spoke, "Alright." Anna reached up and touched his cheek so he would look at her again. "I thought you can remember all that, can't you?"

"I do. Well, I think I do. Anna that's part of what has me so confused."

Anna ran her fingers through his hair, she could see how much this was bothering him."What happened since we found each other that you can't put your finger on? Was there something that happened that made you uneasy? Did a location we were at, stick with you for some reason?"

"I'd remember that wouldn't I?" he sighed again, "See Anna, it doesn't make sense that I can't remember this."

Anna nodded, he was right. This should be something he remembers. What does she remember? Anna started thinking back over everything that happened on their way here. Then it hit her, "There was that man, remember? I can't think of where we were but it was crowded and there was something about it you didn't like. You told me we had to leave because of a man you saw. You became very uneasy about being there."

As she spoke it started to make a little bit of sense to him. "That's right." Robert started trying to focus on who it might have been. Trying to remember where they were and what had been happening. After they had both sat thinking for a short time he said, "It was after the first boat ride, so Panama. It was crowded but I saw him and knew we had to leave. I saw him."

"Who?"

Robert thought about that a little more. Now that he can picture the situation it was a little easier. Anna was talking to a woman about a car and he was watching the people around them. He was scanning the crowd and that's when he saw the man at a different counter. All it took was seeing his profile and Robert knew they had to get out of there. They couldn't let that man see them. They couldn't stay there and risk Cesar Faison seeing them. "Faison was there! I saw Faison. I don't know if he saw me but that was why we had to leave, Anna! He was in Panama."

His breathing was now rapid and Anna knew he needed to relax. "We left straight away. I don't think he saw us. You made sure we got out of there quickly." Could he have seen them? Anna was now replaying that day in her head as well. Had they been followed? Even as she was reassuring Robert, Anna wondered if it was possible.

One hand was on his chest, her other in his hair. He would have taken her away already if he had seen them. "He would have been here by now. Messing with us if he knew where we were. The fact he is or was in Panama is important, right? But I think it was something we just had to know. We need to be aware but that doesn't mean he is an immediate threat." It was his turn to reassure her.

"I know." Anna grinned at him. "The fact you got us out of there before he could see us without even knowing why is very impressive." Anna leaned in and kissed him, "How long have you been up trying to figure this out?"

"I haven't slept, so a while."

"Then we should go get back into bed." Anna got up and took his hand pulling him out of the chair. "We can talk a little longer but as nice as sitting on your lap is, laying in your arms would be better."

Robert grinned and let her pull him back inside. "Now that I know it was Faison, I can see it. I can think about it and see him there talking to the person at the counter."

"All we had to do was talk about what you were thing about. Maybe that is the kind of thing they are going to have you do to help get more of your memory back."

That should be a comforting thought but it actually made him feel a little uneasy. "How is that going to go? Let's talk about that, oh we can't but I can't tell you why I can't talk about it either even if I'm not sure I remember it."

"Robert they want to help you heal not work you over for information," she said with a little laugh as they got into bed.

"How do I talk about things I'm trying to remember and not talk about things I can't talk about because it would be treason?"

Anna tried not to laugh at that. He is struggling with this and it isn't funny but the way he put that didn't help. "They aren't going to be looking for detailed information, they are going to hopefully give you tools that will help you or suggest a treatment plan best suited for you."

"I know. I guess I am a little worried. Trying to focus on one thing for so long and getting nowhere then for it to suddenly click. What if I'm talking to one of these doctors and I start talking about a mission and don't even know it?"

'If you do, they aren't going to know that, are they? If you figure out you've started talking about something confidential just stop. Move onto something else. If they push tell them that you don't want to talk about what you just remembered because it's too painful or personal."

Anna's head was now on his chest, Robert sighed as he started to stroke her hair. "I guess the stress of this is weighing on me and I didn't even realize how much.."

"This can't be easy. Especially if you're struggling with partial or mixed up memories." She looked up at him, "Robert these are doctors studying the kind of injury you have. They want answers to the medical stuff. They want to figure out the best ways to treat people with the kind of injuries you have and help you. That's what they will be focused on. You will be patient fourteen or something and Mr. Conner is just another subject in their study."

He let out a little laugh as he relaxed a little. "I guess you're right."

"Of course, I'm right," Anna said as she put her head back on his chest. "Now let's get some sleep."

"You know what would help me sleep?" he asked as he tilted her chin up.

Anna didn't need any encouragement. She slid up closer to him, then grinned. "We should do whatever it takes to get you to sleep then." She leaned in and kissed him passionately as his hands moved downs her back, pulling her closer.
