Chapter 30
It was almost dusk when a car pulled up and stopped by a big red barn. "Are you sure this is the place?" Ronda asked as she started getting out of the car, looking around as she did.
Robin was already standing by the car looking towards the barn. "Yeah, this has to be the place. Dad said there were a few things here I need."
"This was where he was hiding out last year, right?" Ronda was looking around, it was secluded and no one would notice if someone was out there that quickly. It would be a good place to get the drop on someone as well.
"Apparently, yeah. Right up until he got shot. Then Dad and Uncle Mac join forces and Mom found them shortly after that."
Ronda smiled over at her, she could hear the love Robin has for her family as she spoke, she always could. "So what are we looking for?"
"Dad said it's something I need, that it will help and I will know it as soon as I see it."
"Alright." Ronda's hand moved and rested on her gun, still holstered but ready, she wasn't taking any chances.
They moved closer to the main door. Robin looked over at Ronda once more then slowly opened it. They stepped inside, it was dim but there was enough light to see inside. Looking around, they didn't notice anything obvious that Robin would need.
"Are you sure this is the right red barn?"
Robin stopped and slowly started to turn, looking around as she did. "This is the right place." She could feel it, this is where she needed to be. Robin turned from side to side then walked further in. Then she smiled brightly, she turned and started walking toward the stalls at the back of the barn. That's where she needs to go, she knew it. She stopped in front of the second stall and turned to face it. "Ronda, there's only one thing I need right now. That to see my parents."
The stall gate started to swing open, "That's all we need too." Anna said as she came into view.
She didn't know how but Robin had known they were here shortly after walking in. "Mom! I can't believe this," she rushed into her arms, "it is so good to see you! Where's Daddy?" she asked as she leaned back and looked up at Anna.
"I'm right here." Robert stepped into sight.
Robin let go of her mother seeing her father standing beside them. "DADDY! You're really here!" Tears started falling as he pulled her into his arms. "I've missed you so much. I was so scared I'd lost you." Robin let herself cry in his arms.
"I'm here. I'm okay. I've got you." He kissed the top of her head as she started to relax again. "Mom came and found me, as promised. You knew she would."
Anna put her arms around them and Robert put an arm around her as well. "This is what we all needed," she added. "Our beautiful perfect little family all together."
"I've missed you so much, sweetheart. I couldn't wait any longer to see you," Robert admitted.
"I'm so glad you're here. Why didn't you tell me?"
"We couldn't risk that information getting back to the wrong people." Anna glanced over at Ronda. "Sorry, family comes first."
"I get it. Besides, you really have no reason whatsoever to trust me." Ronda looked into Anna's eye, letting her regret show. Holding Anna prisoner for Ross will always be something she will be ashamed of. Anna gave her a slight nod and then turned back to Robin.
The little family was now talking quietly still holding each other. When Alex stepped out of the stall Ronda noticed. She had been watching the family reunion until she saw movement. The woman looked exactly like Anna, only her hairstyle was different.
"Wow!' Her breath caught for a moment. "Ross really did find a look alike."
"A perfect match actually. Twins, it's been confirmed. Hi, I'm Dr. Alexandra Devane, call me Alex."
"Agent Ronda Norris, WSB. Ronda is fine though." Alex stepped closer and they shook hands.
"You were the one that got Robin away from that madman."
"Well, I got her out of Port Charles. Protecting her is my way of repaying her parents for my part in keeping them all apart even if I didn't know that was what I was doing." Ronda looked down at the floor. Still ashamed of her part in all of this.
"I don't think that matters now. You might not be in the inner circle but I think you are part of their team."
"The inner circle?" Ronda wondered looking at Alex for more of an explanation.
"With this group, I think there are different levels of openness and trust. They only tell the inner circle everything and now I actually believe we are looking at the inner circle."
"From all, I know about them I think that would be a fair assessment. I've learned a little more since I've been spending time with their daughter. There are good and great teams in the WSB then there are legendary teams. The three former agents we are working with are legends. The crazy part is they've done just as much work for the WSB as civilians as when they were agents."
"The night they saved me from Faison I don't even know what happened. I was scared being there with Faison then that guy, Ross got shot. I was so sure I was dead then there was another shot and the man left holding his arm. Then they were there. Treating Ross, comforting me, then we were gone, on the move."
"Apparently with no trace. The officials know someone was there and helped Ross but there was nothing left behind that could help identify who it had been."
"We can't have local law enforcement asking too many questions, now can we," Robert said. He had turned to talk to them. Anna and Robin were still in each other's arms but looking at the other two women as well.
"I don't want to talk about this case at all tonight. If we only have limited time together I want to just enjoy this time," Robin told them.
"Well, I better get the pizza from the car. Anna, Alex, didn't you have a table to set up?" Robert grinned then turned and walked away.
"We're on it." There was a table in the back of the barn and quickly hay bails were moved into place to serve as seats. Sheets were thrown over bails to make a nice seating area for an evening of visiting and catching up.
Robin smiled from ear to ear when she saw Robert walk back in with three large pizzas. "Do you think that's enough?"
"One each for you and me. The ladies can share the last one."
"Sounds good to me," she said with a laugh. There were paper plates and napkins on top so she grab those and started setting their table. As soon as Robert put the pizzas down Robin pulled him into another hug. "It is so good to see you." This made it real. Her parents are both alive! They are together and they are finally here with her.
"I've missed you so much. It won't be much longer, I promise."
"Thank you, Daddy." Being with them she knew it was true, this is almost over.
"Alright, let's be seated." Anna was smiling at them as she moved to take a seat.
Robin sat down right beside Robert, Anna on the other side but on a different bail. Alex smiled seeing that their daughter was positioned between them. She knew it was to be near her but also for protection. The way they move around her position themselves, they are constantly making sure she is between them and may not even realize they do it.
They started grabbing slices of pizza and the chatting started quickly. Soon they were all laughing and enjoying themselves. Any thoughts of what they were in the middle of were put out of their minds. For right now, all that mattered was they are together.
…
Several hours later and under the cover of darkness, Robin peeked out into the night, then turned back to the others. "I don't want to go back to the hotel! she insisted with a bit of a pout. She wasn't ready to say goodbye to them.
"It isn't safe for us to stay here, sweety," Robert told her.
"You were fine here!" Robin pointed out.
Robert pulled her into his arms. "Right up until I was found and shot. Robin, we don't want to leave you either."
"Robin, we need to go so we can put an end to this," Anna said as she stroked her daughter's hair.
"I know," she said into Robert's chest as he held her tight.
"Daddy and I need to finish this."
Robin looked up at her mother, there were tears in her eyes. Anna put her arms around her and Robert pulled them both into his arms. They all had tears in their eyes now. None of them wanted to let the others go.
Alex looked over at Ronda, "Would it hurt if we all hid out here for the night?"
Ronda looked over at the little family of three then back at Alex, "I think they are worried about putting Robin in danger."
"It's already dark, no one is looking for us here. We can take turns watching for people coming. I think they need more time together. Anna told me what they have all been through. They need this time together!" Alex hadn't meant to raise her voice but she apparently felt rather strongly about this. This is her family as well and she wanted them to have a little more time together before they had to say goodbye again.
"Alright, between the four of us, nothing will happen to that young woman." Ronda did have a soft side, even when on the job. Her main focus was still protecting Robin. With her parents here, Robin Scorpio is probably the safest she could be while still in danger.
Anna and Robert believed they had gotten a nice head start on Faison, especially if he was injured. Sean had passed on that more than one blood sample had been collected at the scene so they all assumed that had to have been from when Robert shot Faison. Alex had confirmed he had been injured. If only they knew how badly he had been hurt. A flesh wound wouldn't have slowed him down much but Robert insisted he had been aiming for the shoulder to make him drop the gun and cause the most pain.
"One night here, we can camp out in the hay and watch out for each other. I insist. It will be a little misdirection. Both our travelling parties can be out of sight for a few more hours. I'll make sure my car is hidden. We are all out of sight at least until morning."
Robert had loosened his hold on his family. "No one knows we're here. No point drawing attention to ourselves leaving in the dark from the middle of nowhere."
"Thank you, Daddy," Robin whispered.
"I'm not ready to leave you either." Then he kissed the top of her head. Robert turned and looked at Ronda, "Let's get your car out of sight then we'll settle in."
After about fifteen minutes they had all settled in around their makeshift table. Robin snuggled in beside Anna this time. She had missed her parents so much and now being away from Port Charles, she needed to feel the comfort of having her parents here with her. Take full advantage of what was only going to be for a few more hours.
…
The sun was just starting to come up and they knew that meant it was time to say goodbye for now. Robert and Anna stood beside each other with Robin in front of them. In silence, as nature began to wake, they watched the sunrise. When Robin turned to them she knew she would have to let them go again. That they needed to deal with Faison so they could all be at home together again. Without words, they pulled her into their arms.
Anna leaned back and put her hands on Robin's cheeks. "We will be home soon. That monster will be stopped."
"I know!"
Even though there hadn't been much talk about what was going on it had been agreed that it was time for Robin to return to Port Charles. She needed to get back to her life and if Faison is looking for Anna. He will not believe Anna will be returning to Port Charles if Robin is not there. If the information is out there that Anna and Robert could be alive Faison has to have heard that by now.
This was now their time to call the shots. Move the players to where they wanted them. They had played by other people's rules long enough. If this is going to end it will be ended on their terms and that meant it was time to make a stand.
"Once you are home we can call you. We will be in contact and with any luck, this will all be over soon," Anna told Robin.
"I just want my parents home. I want all this craziness behind us."
"That's what we want too, sweety." Robert kissed the top of her head, then let them go. "We need to get out of here. We haven't been noticed yet but it won't be much longer before people might be in the area."
Ronda and Alex had tidied up the barn and made sure there was no trace of them being there. "I hate to cut this short but I think we should all get out of here," Ronda said as they joined the others.
"Yeah, we have to get going," Anna agreed. "Go for breakfast first then back to the hotel. You should be out of Finger Lakes today as well. Maybe even talk about how you are leaving town when you're at the diner."
"I will make sure no one suspects why we were really here," Ronda assured her.
"Thank you, Ronda. For everything, I mean that."
Then with one last hug and kiss, Robert Anna and Alex hurried into their car and were gone. Robin looked over at Ronda then turned and they walked to their car as well. Robin felt a lot better now. Not only because she had gotten to see both her parents but because she knew they were now the ones calling the shots. Faison may still be out there and he might think he will win but that is not going to happen. Robin knew the Scorpios were now in charge and that man will regret thinking he could ever break them.
