Chapter 35
The players in all of this were moving into their final positions. People that needed to believe something was going on, did. This team had pulled off many operations over the years but this might be one of their biggest yet. The people that are in place, purposely don't know more than their part. If something goes wrong they can't tell Faison or his people anything they don't know to ensure they can't risk other parts of the plan.
Mac had made sure Alex was settled in but he was not going to be making a habit of going up to the apartment. His staff had been infiltrated before and he wasn't going to risk making a similar mistake this time. The cover and the smoke and mirrors for Frisco and Felicia's romantic getaway with a lookout is that Frisco is still on assignment but the WSB let him have some time with his wife before the next part but there were requirements. That story was something Faison would see right through but that was what they wanted.
Faison will know they are lying but he may believe they don't know more than they say. To have him show himself again they need Faison to come to Port Charles. Faison wants Anna and if he believes she has returned, then this is where he will end up and that is when they strike.
…
The early morning light warmed her cheek, Felicia let out a little sigh as she started to wake. A familiar fragrance filled her senses, so she snuggled in a little closer. She might not understand why this was how they had reunited this time but she didn't care either. Frisco is here with her and for a little while she gets to have the man she loves by her side. She felt his hand slide up her side. "Good morning."
Frisco leaned down and kissed her. "Good morning."
"We didn't do a lot of talking once we were alone last night."
"No, we didn't." Frisco stroked her cheek. "Was that what you wanted to do?" he asked with a grin.
Laughing a little she leaned in and kissed him, "No it was not. I would like to now, though. Are you in danger? Is that why we had to sneak out of Port Charles?"
Frisco grinned and shook his head, "No, I'm not in danger. I am working but not officially."
"What does that mean?"
"It means the same person that arrange you and Sam getting out here is who I coordinated with to get here. We are now in the place of people that needed to move out of this location. When they show up looking to find the people that were here the cover is simple. We are getting time together but since I am deep undercover I couldn't risk being seen in Port Charles at the time and Sam is just our lookout. A trusted friend helping us have some time together before I have to go back to work."
He had explained their cover story last night but that was all. "If you aren't on assignment," she started.
"I don't know all of it, I think that was done on purpose."
Felicia was starting to get a better understanding, they were not being told everything for a reason. "So the people we are helping."
"No, Frisco shook his head again. "All we need to know is we are getting some time together and that us being here helps other people."
Felicia was quite used to this kind of situation. "And that's all this is?"
"This is me getting time alone with my wife. Now kiss me." Grinning she moved closer and kissed him passionately.
Felicia leaned back a grinned, "If we are sending Sam out into the woods for the entire day I want to make her a nice breakfast. We get the entire day together. She'll appreciate it." Felicia got out of bed and put on her robe then went to get ready.
Frisco watched her walk out of the room, then stretched as he got up as well. Whatever Sean was up to he knew there is a chance of danger. Yes, someone could show up here but their cover should send them away just as quickly. There might be questions asked but hopefully, no one will be threatened once it is clear they are not the people being looked for.
…
Faison sat at a large antic desk, his morning tea forgotten. His people are going to start searching in a rural area. An area that Malcome Scorpio rented a cabin in but according to his sources isn't using. There have been times when his location wasn't known but not for more than half a day. Faison still doesn't know who that woman back in Halifax was but that didn't matter. He was still certain that Anna is alive and by now if she isn't home with her daughter she is in the area.
The painkillers he had taken earlier were finally starting to work and the pain in his shoulder lessened. Whoever was there with Ross that night had to be WSB. Their bullet hit where it did the most damage long-term without actually hitting a bone. Anger started to build in Faison, thinking back to that night. Then the knowledge that Ross was in a coma he is unlikely to come out of made him smirk. Slowly he lifted his lighter. Using his right hand to light his cigarillos was his most recent progress.
Being in Finger Lakes Faison felt certain no one would be looking for him out here and it gave him a base close enough he could be in Port Charles quickly. The people Faison has working for him have no idea who he is. Liesl was the voice they heard on the phone and the one that set up their payments. Why would anyone question a jilted wife wanting to know what their cheating husband was up to? Her devotion to him could be counted on. When he'd had to clean house in the past, Liesl was who he turned to, she would do the leg work he needed to get footing again. She really was handy to have around. The fact she is a doctor and helping him with his convalescences was definitely an added bonus this time.
…
They knew it was mid-morning but with all the blinds drawn it was still rather dark in the little apartment Anna and Robert were staying in. Robert sat at the table with a cup of coffee and the morning paper. It felt great being here, he was himself again. The memory issue might not be completely dealt with but he is enough himself that he knew the other stuff would come. Robert was satisfied with his recovery so for now all they have to do is wait. Soon it will be reported that Faison has taken the bait. He is watching for Anna's return they are all certain of that.
Robert knew he wasn't dead. He believed he hit right where he was aiming. Faison will not be doing much with his right arm for some time. That thought brought a small smile to his face. The end is in sight now. He looked over at Anna who was stretched out on the couch, still in her robe. A cup of tea sat beside her as she read a book. She looked content, they might not be home yet but she feels it too. This is coming to an end and then they can return to their life. A life that might be changing in the near future.
Their return to Port Charles had gone off as planned and they were grateful for that. To have a visit with Robin, then the conversation they'd had last night. Robert walked over to Anna, sitting down on the couch beside her. "We can't do things the easy way do we?"
Anna grinned, "Where would the fun in that be?"
"I love you, Anna. I wouldn't want to go through this adventure we call life with anyone but you."
"We definitely make it an adventure. I wouldn't want to do this with anyone else. I love you so much." He leaned in and kissed her tenderly. Anna grinned up at him, "We are alone."
"Yes, we are." Leaning in he slid his arms around her and swept her up in his arms. Anna put her arms around his neck as he carried her off to the bedroom. The only thing that needed their attention at the moment was each other.
…
Later that afternoon, Robert was in the kitchen making them lunch when their phone rang. Anna walked over and answered it, they knew only a hand full of people had the number here. "Hello." Sean was on the other end.
"Hello, Anna. How are you?"
"Hey, Sean. We're good. Both of us are in good spirits." Unconsciously she put her free hand on her stomach. "Have there been any developments?"
"Nothing yet but just a little while ago, four men checked into that little motel on the outside of Otter Creek. My guy out there will let me know what they are up to and if they are snooping around the cabins in the area."
"It's a good thing we moved when we did."
"Yeah, we've got a solid, if small, group working on this."
"Have there been any leads on Faison's whereabouts?" Anna asked as she took a seat on the couch.
"Not yet. We have been tracking known acquaintances of his and there was one name that stood out as someone we want to look into more. It was reported she was seen in the Finger Lakes area last week."
"Who is this person?"
"A doctor that has been known to help him in the past. If he is getting treatment somewhere, it could be there. Lay low, where no one would bother looking for anyone."
"Then it's a good thing Robin came home when she did."
"Yes, it is."
"Is there anything else you needed to pass on?" Anna asked.
Sean grinned, he could almost picture her wanting to get all the information available. "No that's about it. Alex has settled in and will be out of harm's way while this gets handled."
"Alright, Robert and I are fine here. We'll be ready when it's time to strike."
"Okay, take care of each other. Talk to you later."
"Bye," then Anna hung up. She sat back and thought for a moment before turning to Robert. "It sounds like our little bait and switch has worked. We should be hearing soon if there are people checking the cabins."
"I hope this means Faison is going to show himself soon."
Anna patted the couch beside her. "Sean mentioned a doctor that could be helping him. I think we still have to wait a little longer before we'll know for sure if our plan is working out the way we want."
Robert sat down and pulled Anna close, "Then that means we have some more alone time. I like the alone time." Then he kissed her neck.
"Are you sure we have time?"
"What else do we have to do? The best part of being in hiding with my wife is all the time we have for sex." Holding her close, his kisses moved up toward her ear. "I think I already got you pregnant so we don't have to worry about that."
Anna giggled, tilting her head a little. He is right, this is one the of better ways to spend their time alone.
