Chapter 32
Emma is in bed, tossing and turning just before her alarm goes off
Sean: Emma, honey, are you ok?
Emma: Yea, I'm ok. I just don't feel too good all of the sudden
Sean: Maybe you should stay home today and rest, babe.
Emma: No, I need to go in, If I start getting nauseous, I'll come home
Emma gets up and gets ready to head to Degrassi
Sean: You sure, babe?
Emma: Yea, I think it's just your daughter kicking me like crazy the last couple days
Sean smiles as he laughs
Sean: If you need me to come get you from Degrassi, call me at the shop babe.
Emma: I will, I promise. I love you.
Emma kisses Sean's forehead as he's laying in bed
Sean: I love you too beautiful.
Emma leaves and heads to Degrassi. A short time later she arrives at Degrassi, she heads inside and walks to her classroom, where she's met by Nick
Nick (smiling): Morning, Emma
Emma: Morning Nick.
Nick: Welcome back
Emma smiles
Emma: Just a few more weeks and I'll be having my little girl
Nick: I know you and Sean can't wait to meet her
Emma smiles, A short time later, as her students begin trickling into class, she begins to feel a little discomfort, but she ignores it. After about 45 minutes of discussing Romeo & Juliet, she begins feeling dizzy and starts having sharp pains in her abdomen.
Emma: Mr. Brady, would you mind-
Emma doubles over in pain as Nick rushes to Emma's side to get her seated
Nick (to the Students): Someone go to the office, and have them call an ambulance
One of the students leaves to go to the office
Emma: Go in my desk, grab my phone and call Sean at the shop
Emma holds her hand over her abdomen as she groans in pain
Emma: Kids, I promise everything will be just fine
A few minutes later an ambulance arrives and places Emma on the stretcher and loads in her the ambulance while Nick grabs Emma's Phone and calls Sean
Sean: Hey babe
Nick: Uh, actually no, it's nick
Sean: What's wrong? Is Emma, ok?
Nick: She started not feeling good about an hour into her lecture, then a few minutes ago she doubled over in pain. I had one of the students go to the office and call an ambulance for her. She's on her way to the hospital now
Sean: Ok, Thanks. I'm leaving the shop now
Sean hangs up
Mechanic (To Sean): Where are you going?
Sean: It's Emma, I got to go.
Sean leaves and rushes to the hospital, a short time later he arrives at the hospital
Sean (to the nurse): I-I'm looking for my wife, Emma Cameron, she was taken here by ambulance
Nurse: Down the hall, to your right, first room after you turn the corner
Sean sprints down the hallway to Emma's room as he approaches Emma's room, he sees her laying there sleeping peacefully, he sighs in relief as he walks in her room and quietly pulls up a chair next to her bedside and takes her by the hand
Sean (quietly): You scared me when I got the call from Nick, and when he told me you were taken away in an ambulance, my heart sank
Emma begins to wake up to Sean's voice
Emma (quietly): Hey, what are you doing here?
Emma giggles
Sean: Checking in on you and our little girl, are you ok? Is Rose, ok?
Emma takes Sean's hand and places it over her stomach
Emma: We're ok.
Sean feels the baby kick as a smile of relief comes over him
Sean: I can't tell you how scared I was, when Nick called me to tell me you were going to the hospital, sweetheart.
Sean sweeps Emma's hair back and kisses her forehead
Sean: Babe, you should've stayed home
Emma: I can't stay home every time I feel nauseous Sean, it's a part of pregnancy
Sean: What did the doctor say?
Emma: He said I was going into early labor, so I'm on high risk for early delivery and put me on bed rest duties from now until her due date.
Sean: Then I'm going to cut down on my hours at the shop so I can be home with you
Emma: We'll be fine, I need you to work, Sean. Until I go back to work, you're our only income babe
Sean: What happens if you go into early labor if I'm at the shop?
Emma: Sean, everything will be ok. We still have at least 5 weeks until she's here.
Sean: Have I told you how wonderful you are, lately?
Emma (smiles): It's nice to be reminded
Sean: I love you babygirl. I'd be lost with you.
Emma's doctor walks in
Doctor: Well, Emma looks like we're all set to discharge you, you know the drill, follow up with your primary and OB
Emma: I will. Thank you
Sean: Let's get you home, babe
A short time later, they leave the hospital and head home
Emma: We're going to be ok, everything's going to be fine.
Sean: I know, I guess I'm just over protective already and she's not even here yet.
Emma giggles
Emma: That just means you'll be a great daddy
Sean (smiles): I'll be better than the one I had
Emma: I'm ready for her to be here with us, and meet all our friends and family
They arrive home, and Sean helps Emma in the house
Sean: Soon enough, we'll be bringing our little girl home.
Emma: I can't wait. It's crazy to believe we're going to be parents in just a few weeks
Sean: It's hard to believe how much things have changed over the last year, but I wouldn't trade it for the world
Sean said as he kisses Emma's forehead
Emma: I couldn't agree more.
Emma groans in pain as she places her hand over her stomach
Sean: Easy honey
Emma: She's just really kicking lately
Sean: Well, she'll be here soon babe.
Emma: What do you want to do for dinner, Sean?
Sean: I'll take care of dinner, you just sit back and relax
Emma: You sure?
Sean: Yea, just relax honey
Sean goes in the kitchen and fixes up dinner
Sean: I bet you don't make it to your due date babe, I think she'll come early
Emma: I hope so, As much as I love keeping her protected, I would love if she would stop abusing her mommy so much
Sean laughs
Emma: Honestly, as long as she's healthy when she's born, that's all I care about.
Sean: As long as you both are healthy during delivery that's all that matters honey
Emma: Sean, I don't know where I'd be if I didn't have you
Emma said as she and Sean sit down for dinner at their dining room table, as they continue eating dinner, Sean notices Emma picking at her food
Sean: Is everything ok, Em?
Emma: Huh?
Sean: What's wrong?
Emma: I'm just tired is all, it's been a long day
They continue eating while Sean studies Emma's features
Sean: Babe, are you sure you're ok?, I mean your face is looking a little pale honey.
Emma: I'm ok, I promise. I'm just not that hungry, I'm really tired
Sean: You sure?
Emma: Yes, Sean. I'm just tired is all
Sean: Why don't you go run a relaxing bath upstairs honey. Maybe you'll feel better
Emma: As nice as those sounds, I think I just want to go to bed
Emma gets up, kisses Sean on his head, takes her plate to the kitchen then heads upstairs and gets ready for bed
Sean: Goodnight
Emma (from the stairs): Goodnight
Sean cleans up dinner, goes upstairs to check on Emma, sees her sleeping peacefully, decides to grab himself a shower and head to bed himself, in the middle of the night Sean begins to stir in bed
Emma (nudging Sean): Sean, wake up
Sean continues to stir as he hears Emma's voice
Sean (groans): What's going on?
Emma: You were tossing and turning, what's wrong?
Sean: huh?
Emma: What's wrong? You were tossing and turning
Sean: Everything's fine babe, go back to bed, Honey.
Sean rolls over and drapes his arm over Emma's torso as he falls back asleep. The next morning, Emma wakes up and goes downstairs to make breakfast for her and Sean. A short time later, Sean wakes up, and notices Emma isn't in bed, he gets out of bed, goes downstairs and see's Emma in the kitchen
Sean: Morning, babe
Emma: Hey baby. I made breakfast
Emma said as she grabs 2 plates from the cabinet
Sean: Have I told you, how much I love you, lately
Sean said as he walks up to Emma and wraps his arms around her waist
Emma: A few times
Emma said with a smile as she closed her eyes and placed her hands over Sean's
Sean: You are everything I could ever need in this life and more.
Sean said as he kisses Emma's neck
Emma: What's gotten into you?
Sean: I cant tell my beautiful, amazing wife how much I apricate and love her?
Emma: Oh, I don't mind, believe me
Emma giggles
Sean: Then let me love on you, beautiful.
Emma smiles as she giggles as Sean continues kissing her neck
Emma: You make me feel so loved, and appreciated.
Emma turns around and wraps her arms around Sean's neck
Emma: Even if I am 8 months pregnant and looking like a beach whale-
Sean: Baby, you do not look like a beach whale, you are a gorgeous mom to be
Emma: You've always made me feel so beautiful, and so loved, I'm the luckiest girl in the world and I have you to thank for it
Emma softly kisses Sean
Sean: You've always been beautiful to me, You could be 300 pounds and you'd still be beautiful to me, baby. Nothing will ever change that
Emma: You make me the happiest girl in the world, Sean Cameron. I can't wait to see how amazing you'll be with our little girl
Sean smiles
Sean: I love you, baby. Always have and always will
Emma smiles as Sean's phone rings
Emma: Que the mood killer
Sean laughs as he answers the phone
Sean (on the phone): Hello?
Mechanic (on the phone): Hey are you coming in today?
Sean: I planned to, later. Why?
Mechanic: Well, the building inspector is here and he's not happy, he's asking for you
Sean: Well, have Mike deal with him, he's the assistant manager.
Mechanic: He's off today
Sean: I'm trying to spend time with my wife, whose 8 months pregnant I might add, and could very well go into early labor at any time
Mechanic: I know Sean, and I'm sorry to have to do this, but he's threatening to close us down
Sean: What?! On what grounds? You know what, never mind, I'll be there in a little bit
Sean hangs up
Emma: What's wrong?
Sean grabs his wallet and keys
Sean: Damn Inspector is at the shop, threating to close me down. I got to go see what's going on.
Emma: Ok, Be careful baby. I love you
Sean kisses Emma
Sean: Love you Babe
Sean bends down and kisses Emma's stomach
Sean (softly): Bye babygirl, Daddy loves you
Sean softly kisses Emma one last time as he begins to head out the door
Emma: Bye Honey.
Sean: I'll call you later, Em
Sean leaves and heads to the shop. A short time later, he arrives at the Shop. Sean exits his car and approaches the building, he notices the front door is locked, he takes his keys out of his pocket and unlocks the door. He opens the door and sees no one in the lobby or in the shop, he walks in the back and turns the light on to see all his guys standing in the breakroom
Guys: Surprise
Sean (laughs): What the-?
Mechanic 1: We wanted to do to congratulate you and the Mrs. on your soon to be baby girl
Sean: You guys didn't have to
Mike: We wanted to, so deal with it
Sean: You guys are amazing, seriously. You did not have to do this
Joe: Man, I was in your shoes once, newborns are a lot, but becoming a father is the best feeling in the world.
Sean smiles
Sean: Thanks guys, I take it there was no inspector?
Everyone laughs
Mike: Nah, Just an excuse to get you here
Sean laughs
Sean: You guys suck for that, but I appreciate the gesture. Emma and I are really grateful
Sean looks at the table of gifts and diapers
Mike: Just like Joe said, there's no greater feeling than becoming a father for the first time. All the fears of being a parent go away as soon as you hold that baby for the first time.
Sean chuckles as he smiles
Sean: Honestly, I can't wait until she's here. I'm nervous and excited.
The guys laugh as Mike puts his hand on Sean's shoulder
Mike: You've got this buddy.
Joe: And that woman you married, she's going to need you more than ever once the baby's here, first couple months are full of sleepness nights.
Sean: Yea, I plan on taking some time off from the shop, just before she comes
Mechanic 1: Good plan buddy.
Mechanic 3: You know we're all here for you, Boss.
Sean: Yea I know, I really appreciate it guys You have no idea how nervous I am.
Mechanic 3: You'll be fine, Instincts will come naturally
Sean: Now which one you knuckleheads is gonna help carry all this to my truck?
They all laugh
Joe: Come on, I'll help you
Sean: The rest of you, get back to work
The guys laugh as Sean and Joe carry gifts and boxes of diapers to Sean's truck
Joe: When is Emma due?
Sean: 6 weeks
Joe: You guys have everything you'll need?
Sean: You never fully have everything you'll need when it comes to a baby, but yea, we're as prepared as we're going to be.
Joe: You guys are going to be great parents, and you both have great support systems.
Joe said as they finish loading the stuff to Sean's truck
Sean: Thanks Man, seriously
Joe: Anytime buddy, anytime.
Sean and Joe walk back into the shop, As Joe walks onto the floor, Sean calls Emma
Emma: Hey babe, what's up?
Sean (chuckles): You're not gonna believe this
Emma: What?
Sean: The guys threw me a surprise dad to be party
Emma: Awe Sean that's so nice of them
Sean: They told me there was an inspector just to get me here
Emma laughs
Emma: They tricked you
Sean (laughs): Yea, they got me. What are you doing?
Emma: Just washing more of Rose's outfits and finishing her nursery
Sean: I got more stuff for her from the guys at the shop, and diapers too.
Emma: Oh, awesome
Sean hears something drop on the floor
Sean: Let me let you go Em, I got to see what these guys are breaking now. I'll see you tonight when I get home
Emma: Ok, Love you
Sean: Love you too
Sean hangs up and goes onto the floor
Sean: What are you guys doing in here?
Mike: Relax, it's just the tools falling
Sean: Joe, whose car are you working on?
Joe: Mrs. Westing's
Mechanic 3: Hey Sean, are you ok?
Sean: Yea, I'm fine. Why?
Mechanic 4: You just seem on edge today
Sean: No, I'm fine
Mike: Sean, why don't you take the rest of the day and spend time with Emma
Sean: I said no I'm fine!
Sean walks into his office and shuts the door, a short time later, Mike knocks on Sean's office door
Mike: Hey, just wanted to check on you.
Sean looks over at Mike as he continues doing his work on the computer
Sean: I'm fine, I'm just getting a little stressed out is all
Mike: Everything will be fine, Sean.
Sean: I'm doing the numbers and it's looking like I can't afford to take the time off
Mike: Sean, the guys and I will handle the shop, you need the time off to be with your family
Sean: No, I need to be here and help the shop
Mike: Sean, listen to me-
Sean: No, Mike, the shop is in the hole, big time. A couple more months of this, I'll have no choice but to close for good.
Mike: Sean, it's a bump in the road, we will figure it out. I'll go over the numbers again tomorrow to double check. Everything will work out, trust me. I've worked here for a long time, Tony's had a few close calls before, but he always bounced right back
Sean: I- I don't know man
Mike: Dude, I've worked with you for a couple years now, relax man, just go home, and take the rest of the day off and go be with your wife. You've got too much on your mind and your stressing yourself out.
Sean: You sure?
Mike: Go on, get out of here
Sean: You sure?
Mike nods yes
Mike: Go home, Sean. Come back tomorrow, me and the guys can handle the shop for the rest of the day
Sean: Ok, call me if you need me.
Sean grabs his keys and heads out the door
