The song "When we are kings", belongs to Jack Murphy and Frank Wildhorn form the Musical "The Count of Monte Cristo"

Guardians and the NFC East Rusherz

Part 6: The Search for Liberty- When we are kings

Canton, Ohio; near sunset...

The six Guardians had regrouped in Canton, having found nothing on where Liberty was or a sign of him. They were back in their normal outfits and outside their Guardian armor, sitting around the stadium outside the Hall of Fame.

Ish: -sighs- This is insane, Where in the world is Liberty?

Ash: I know. It's not like him to just vanish like that, something is going on.

The group pondered on this mystery...when Troy eyes widen at a thought.

Troy: Hold on...what if Lord Zatu sent someone here, and he's the reason he's missing?

That got their attention as they turned to Troy.

Tua: You think he might of sent someone after us when we escaped?

Troy: No reason as to why not. We beat him, repaired the Anti-Core, helped his rebellion and Nephew, and freed the Rusherz.

Marty: So, you think he sent someone and ran into Liberty?

Ricky: That does sound like what could of happened. For all we know he might be imprisoned.

Ish eyes shrank in horror as another thought came to him this time.

Ish:...What if Liberty was told they were coming and went after them solo?

...They all paled in horror at the realization as the facts and events all came together.

Marty: Oh man then if that's the case he's in way too deep! He and the other Rusherz are still recovering their energy and Soar just got out of the hospital!

Tua: *all get up* We gotta find him fast!

Troy: Tiny we don't even know where he is! We haven't found any signs of him!

CHIRP!

All turned to the side to see...a cardinal. The bird was looking at them.

Ash: A cardinal? I'm surprise we didn't scare it off with all the loud noises.

Ricky: Yeah, that is strange.

The cardinal flew over to them, landing on Ish's head and gently pecking it.

Ish: *wincing a bit* Okay, what is with this bird.

Tua: I have a feeling, it want's us to follow it?

The bird flew in the air at that, almost as it if was answering yes.

Marty: I think it does.

Ricky: Well, do we follow it?

Ish: It's the only thing we can do at this point. Mind be weird but it's better than sitting around.

With that the bird flew off at a good length as the heroes ran after it, following close by.

Troy: Following a bird to somewhere while a being with large powers is MIA, yep sounds like the usual with us at this point!

Ash: Let's hope it can lead us to a clue on where Liberty is!

.

.

The six ran with all their might, despite the fact they saw they were heading into ANOTHER CITY.

Troy: Okay! I'm literally surprised we manage to cross-country this!

Marty: I know! This bird got some energy! Where are we?

Ash: I think we're in Columbus Ohio!

Ricky: WHY ARE WE IN COLUMBUS?! WHOSE IN COLUMBUS!?

Ish: I think i know! But..he's been gone for decades!

Tua: Are you talking about Joseph Carr?!

Ish nodded as all six continued to follow the cardinal.

...

Finally, the bird vanished as the heroes reached a sign. They panted as they went to their knees.

Troy: Okay, got a taste of the intense dash trails of the Combine. Nice to know.

Ash: Yeah...*looks around* It's gone, so..what now?

Ricky looked up at the sign, pointing to it.

Ricky: There, St. Joseph Cemetery. If that's not a sign I don't know what is.

All got up and looked at it, Ish typing the location in his NFLR.

Tua: That's gotta be where Joseph Carr is buried, Freefall mentioned that he and Liberty were close friends when he was alive.

Marty: So, Liberty might of gone there if or when he got done with...whoever Lord Zatu's sent was sent off.

Ish took a breath, nodding.

Ish: Everyone...prepare for anything we might see. I have a feeling...we won't like it.

With that they got their second wind and ran off to the cemetery.

.

.

St. Joseph Cemetery, sun setting...

Liberty panted as he limped to the entrance, looking up.

Liberty: *absolute agony* He-hehe, -sighs- I can't believe i didn't visit him after the first day of the draft. Then again, we were...preoccupied.

Liberty winced as he limped forward, overhearing some young folks.

Actor 1: Alright! This is one of the big scenes of the show, when Faria's passes away and Edmond must continue forward to Monte Cristo. You two get in position and let's try this one more time.

Liberty: *absolute agony;weak chuckle* The Count of Monte Cristo...interesting choice there. T-Though...i don't think i-I'll be able...*shakes his head* -takes a raspy breath- G-Gotta get to you.

With that the music began from the radio..and the voice, was heard.

Joseph Carr (echo): You must go on

For the world waits before you

Leave me to rest for a while

Liberty slowly limped into the cemetery, the ghostly voice of Joseph filling the air and not of the intended singer.

Look to your heart and remember our lessons

And when you think of me

Smile

Liberty looked around, a small smile forming.

Now I will leave one more treasure to you

Learn to live

And forgive

He sighed, closing his eyes as grabbed something to steady himself.

Liberty: *agony;musing* I will return

With an army to find you

Breaking this place stone by stone

Rubies and gold will bedazzle and blind you

Liberty continued on, his mind continuing to make him hear the voice.

Joseph Carr (echo): Riches the world's never known

Crushing the dungeons with wealth unsurpassed

When we are kings at last!

Not that Liberty minded, he couldn't help but smile despite the blood coming out of his mouth.

Joseph Carr (echo): Feed the poor, protect the weak

Liberty: *agony;smiling* By the justice that we seek

Joseph Carr (echo): Leave the past behind in mercy's name

Liberty saw where his destination was at last, as he limped over touching the tombstone.

Liberty: *agony;smiling* When we are kings, we'll make the world as true as you

My friend, when we are kings

What's ours we will reclaim!

He gripped the tombstone with all his might despite being in pain.

Joseph Carr (echo): Sails made of silk

Bearing ships full of silver

Diamonds like stars in the skies.

Liberty looked up at the sky in pain, his blood pooling around the area..

Liberty: *agony;smiling* Mountains of gold

Full of emeralds and opals

More than a feast for the eyes!

Liberty felt so tired...

Joseph Carr(echo): Suffer no more fortune's arrows and slings!

Why did his body feel so heavy?

Liberty (Joseph Carr): *agony;eyes fluttering* Living like men (Living like men)

Liberty (Joseph Carr): *agony;shaking* Free once again (Free once again)

Liberty(Joseph Carr): *agony;trailing off* Finally when we-

Liberty...finally slumped onto the ground.

Joseph Carr and others: are kings!

The voices and he thought he heard and the music that played was fading, other voices that were now appearing sounding so far way.

LIBERTY!?

OH MAN LIBERTY! HE'S DOWN-OH MAN HE'S BLEEDING HARD!

ARG...WE'LL GET NEW SHIRTS BUT HELP ME STOP THE BLEEDING!

ONE OF YOU GUYS CALL 911!

LIBERTY STAY WITH US! JUST HANG IN THERE!

...That was the last thing Liberty the Giant Rusher heard as everything went silent and dark around him.

.

.

and when he woke up in the silvery blue plane...HIS LEG WAS CHAINED.
