Note: Now that I've done a chapter for each of the new Loonatics in 100 Oneshot Stories, I am now able to continue the story. Before we move on, I have something to say to a recent reviewer.
Ron: There already was a character based on Foghorn Leghorn, so I wouldn't be doing anything new if I made an OC based on the rooster. I hope that this doesn't deter you from reading the story.
Alright, here comes chapter four!
Chapter 4: The New Team
Ace walked down the street, keeping his eyes open for someone who would join the team. That was until he heard some chatter. Getting a closer look, the rabbit saw some police officers loading some thugs into a cruiser. Before he could greet the officers, Ace saw a young man with dark hair approaching him. He studied the young man with his eyes, noticing a strange aura coming off of him. Whoever this person was, he had powers.
"Excuse me." Ace greeted.
"What is it?" The young man turned around to him.
"Were you the one who caught those thugs back there?" The rabbit asked.
"Yes," the human answered, "I hope I'm not in the way of you and your team."
"You're not. You're more or less another individual who seeks to clean the streets. I have to admit, you would make an excellent hero."
"I've always wanted to join the Loonatics. After all, our ancestors knew each other."
"We'd have to speak to Zadavia about that, but, other than that, it would be great to have you on the team."
"Can you show me around your HQ?"
"Just as long as you're not going to collect intel on us, you can."
"Cool!"
Ace and the young man began to walk to the Tower. That was until they saw Zadavia and Slam.
"I see you found a new recruit." Zadavia noticed the young man.
"He caught some thugs by himself." Ace stated.
"Interesting." She said before looking at the young man. "What is your name?"
"Jack Nova." The young man answered. "I'm a College student who is working on a degree in biology."
"What are your powers?" Ace asked.
"I can conjure fire, control plants, move stuff with my mind, and fire blasts made of my aura." Jack said. "Want a demonstration?"
"We'll see how you use your powers on the battlefield." Zadavia said. "Now follow us, we'll show you the team's former headquarters. You might even see some more of the new recruits while you're there."
Meanwhile, Tech and Rev were heading for the Town Hall. The coyote and the roadrunner felt weird standing on Acmetropolis again. However, they dealt with it, knowing that there were people who were happy to see them and the other Loonatics again. As they walked, they saw a fennec walking towards them.
"Excuse me," the fennec greeted, "are you guys members of the Loonatics?"
"Of-course-we-are!" Rev said. "I'm-glad-you-noticed-us-while-we-were-looking-for-people-who-would-be-willing-to-join-the-team!"
"You'll have to excuse Rev, he's quite energetic." Tech said to the fennec.
"I can tell." She said.
"Anyway, what's your name?" The coyote asked.
"Lori Clark." The fennec answered. "I was just going to greet you guys while you and your teammates were back in town."
"Well-it's-nice-to-meet-you-Lori-my-name-is-Rev-Runner!" Rev excitedly said. "The-coyote-in-front-of-you-is-Tech-but-you-could-have-already-guessed-that! Also-he's-the-man-I-love!"
"While we're at it, do you have any powers?" Tech asked.
"Yes." Lori said.
"Show-us!" Rev pleaded. "Show-us-your-powers! Show-us! Please-show-us! We-really-want-to-see-what-you-can-do!"
Lori focused, creating a force field in her hands. She then made another, bringing it closer to the first one. The fennec combined the two force fields, creating a much larger one as a result.
"You can create force fields." Tech noted. "But is that all you can do?"
"I can turn invisible too." Lori stated. "As for my force fields, they can be used as weapons."
"You-have-to-show-Zadavia-when-we-introduce-you-to-her!" Rev smiled.
"Do you think that there is a spot open on the team for me?" The fennec asked.
"You can ask Zadavia." Tech said. "Come with us."
Tech and Rev turned around and began to head back to the ship with Lori following them. The fennec smiled, knowing that she would not only encounter the rest of the Loonatics, but more recruits for the team.
Lexi and Duck were heading north of town, keeping an eye out for anyone with powers who would be willing to join the team. As they walked through, they heard something.
"Jack!"
It sounded like a girl calling someone's name. Turning her head, Lexi saw a young girl looking around. The girl was roughly thirteen years of age, looking four-feet-tall. She had dark hair and blue eyes. She was wearing a black jacket, a violet shirt, jeans, and tennis shoes. Even though the girl looked human, Lexi could see an odd aura coming off of her. This aura looked demonic, almost like it was possessing the girl.
Before Lexi could nudge Duck, a mailman came up to them.
"Good to see that the two of you are back." He greeted before looking at Duck. "This is for you, Mr. Duck."
Duck received an envelope that was addressed to him. He looked at it quizzically, a smile growing on his face.
"Fan mail, eh?" The arrogant waterfowl spoke. "I take it that someone wants to meet me, the almighty Danger Duck, in person?"
"Well, open it." Lexi told him. "I'm going to go talk to that girl over there."
"Do that while I read this letter." Duck said before opening the envelope.
While Duck opened the envelope, Lexi approached the girl. The younger female looked up at the doe, having a quizzical expression.
"Didn't you move to another planet with your teammates?" The girl asked.
"We came back to look for some new recruits." Lexi answered.
"That checks out." The kid said.
"What's your name?" The doe asked.
"Klara Nova."
"Nice to meet you, Klara. What are you doing out here?"
"I'm looking for my older brother. He usually gets out of College at this time, but I can't find him anywhere. I swear, this is the third time in the Semester he hasn't come back home immediately after being let out."
"I'm sure he'll be back. He is your brother, after all. Take it from me, Ace is my brother."
"He's your brother? I always thought that you two were dating."
"A lot of people get that wrong about me and Ace."
Duck approached Lexi and Klara, having a shocked expression on his face.
"What's wrong, Duck?" Lexi asked.
"Turns out, I have a sister!" The mallard stated.
"What's wrong with that?" The doe tilted her head.
"Nothing's wrong, I'm excited!" The waterfowl happily said.
"Good to know. Mind if I introduce you to someone?"
"You mean the kid you were talking to? Does she want to join the team or something?"
Klara chuckled and said "I couldn't! Even if you guys said 'please'!"
"Why not?" Lexi asked. "Do you not have powers?"
"I do," the younger female said, "but they might be a little too dangerous for the team."
"What can you do?" Duck asked.
"I can manipulate rocks, soil, and clay. I'm also able to create gemstones by simply thinking about it."
"You're not dangerous if you use your powers for the right reasons." Lexi told her. "We should let you speak with Zadavia, I'm sure that she can mentor you."
"While you take her to see Zadavia, I'm going to go meet my sister." Duck was ready to walk away from them.
"And I'm right here." A feminine voice rang out behind the mallard.
Turning around, Lexi, Duck, and Klara saw a yellow duck approaching them. This duck had brown shoulder length hair, green eyes, and an orange bill. She was wearing a sky blue shirt, black dress pants, and gray boots.
"Long time no see, Daniel." The female looked at Duck.
"So you're Duck's sister?" Lexi asked.
"Teagan Duck, at your service." She introduced herself. "I worked for the government, but now I'm able to work with you. Before you ask, my powers include electricity manipulation and control over lightning."
"We should let you guys meet Zadavia." The doe stated. "She's probably waiting for us near our former HQ."
Lexi and Duck then walked down the street with Klara and Teagan following them. The two potential new recruits were somewhat happy, given how they were meeting the Loonatics themselves. One could only imagine how they would react to meeting some more of the new recruits.
As Ace, Slam, Zadavia, and Jack walked up to the HQ, they saw an Arctic fox vixen and a gray hound waiting near the building.
"Zadavia!" The Arctic fox greeted.
"Well, I see that you're here, Diane." Zadavia responded to the white vixen.
"I've been waiting ever since you arrived with the team." Diane stated. "I came here while you were walking through the city."
"Hi." Slam said.
"Hello." The gray hound responded to the Tasmanian devil.
"You should introduce yourselves to each other." Zadavia said to Ace. "After all, Diane is willing to join the team."
Before Ace could talk to Diane, he saw a stag walking down the street. He looked quite angry, his face in a scowl.
"Who is that?" Ace asked.
"John Feliciano." Diane told the rabbit. "He has the ability to manipulate dark energy."
"Isn't he the guy who lost his sister nearly two years ago?" Jack asked.
"Yeah, but I wouldn't mention it to him." The gray hound stated.
All of a sudden, John began to walk towards the Loonatics. Ace had no idea what to say, knowing that the stag looked like the kind of guy who would cause harm. However, he stopped when he was roughly two feet away from Zadavia.
"Good morning, sunshine." Ace greeted.
"Cut the greetings short, I'm here to join the team." John stated.
"So am I." Jack said.
"Alright," Zadavia spoke, "now that we've got four new recruits, why don't we let them introduce themselves?"
"Go ahead, guys." Ace said to the four who wanted to join.
"Jack Nova." Jack introduced himself. "I can move objects without touching them, I can conjure fire, I can turn plants into weapons, traps, and utilities, and I can fire blasts made of my own aura."
"Diane McAllister." Diane stated. "I'm a telepath who can fire energy attacks."
"Simon Grey." The gray hound spoke. "I can turn my own bone marrow into armor."
"John Feliciano." John looked at Ace. "I can use dark energy for both offense and defense."
"Nice to meet you all." Ace said.
All of a sudden, Tech and Rev came up to the group. Behind them was Lori, who was struggling to keep up with Rev.
"Rev, slow down!" Lori cried.
"You-won't-outrun-me-Lori!" Rev boasted. "I-am-a-roadrunner-after-all!"
"At least give her some time to catch up, Rev!" Tech crossed his arms at the roadrunner.
"Who's the fennec, guys?" Ace asked.
"My name is Lori Clark." Lori greeted as soon as she got near him. "I can turn invisible and make force fields."
"And here are the other new Loonatics." The rabbit gestured to the four beside him.
"We've got five new recruits?" Tech spoke. "Interesting."
"Make that seven!" Lexi said as she walked towards the team with Duck, Klara, and Teagan.
"And who are the two with you?" Ace asked.
"Klara Nova." Klara greeted. "I'm Jack's younger sister and I can manipulate rocks, soil, clay, and gemstones."
"Teagan Duck." Teagan looked at Zadavia. "I have control over electricity and lightning, but I won't harm any of you. Also, I'm Duck's older sister."
"We have a lot of catching up to do." Duck said as he blushed.
"Now that you're all here, you are now members of the Loonatics." Zadavia said to the seven new recruits.
"There's one problem with that, Zadavia." Tech stated.
"What is the problem?" She asked.
"There isn't enough room for all of us to be on the same team." The coyote stated.
"Rats!" Jack cried.
"Sorry guys." Ace said.
The recruits were about to walk away until Lexi spoke up.
"What if there was more than one team of Loonatics?"
"Good idea, Lexi!" Ace stated.
"But they need a mentor to help them get better mastery of their powers." Tech said.
"What if one of us visited the recruits every two weeks to mentor them and keep them in check?" Lexi asked.
"But who would be the first to check up on the new recruits?" Zadavia asked.
"You're looking at him right here, Zadavia!" Duck said. "Under my watchful eye, the new members of the team will get the job done! After all, I have some catching up to do with my big sister."
"By the way, what would we call ourselves, Miss Zadavia?" Klara asked.
"From this point on, the seven of you will be called the Mighty Loonatics." Zadavia said to the new recruits.
"Permission to change that name?" John asked.
"Not at the moment, John." She said. "Now, get your things together and prepare to move in. From this point on, you will be Acmetropolis' protectors in place of the original Loonatics. Welcome to your new life, Mighty Loonatics."
Note: Now that the new team is assembled, there will be new threats for them to fight. As for Duck, let's just hope that he doesn't get any of them killed. What did you guys think about this chapter? Let me know when you leave a review or give a constructive criticism stating what you like and what you don't like. Until next time guys, this is Newcomer24, signing off. Peace!
