Note: As we're nearing the end of the year, I feel that it's necessary to get as much done before January. Before we move on, I'd like to thank those who have written other Loonatics stories, which includes authors such as Grant Crose, pastelpandora, Annabeth Rowan, and Shneetah. You guys have somewhat inspired me to write this story, which I want to admit due to having spent a year on here trying to get my stories out there. I'd also like to apologize to the authors on here who I had angered or upset with my past behavior. I hope that the whole lot of you are doing okay. Before starting this chapter, I would like to say something to a reviewer.
Ron: Actually, John's situation is more like a Venom situation, as John struggles to prevent his inner darkness from taking control, like how Spider-Man struggled to keep control of the black suit, which became Venom. Thanks for the review, though. I hope that you enjoy this chapter.
Now that I've cleared that up, it's time for chapter thirteen.
Chapter 13: Girls' Night Out
A day had passed since John had killed Jaffe, and things were somewhat slow. In fact, there was no crime alert at the moment. Inside HQ, the Mighty Loonatics were sitting around in the living room, feeling bored. Lexi had left to take a walk a few moments prior, so the team was waiting for her to come back. That was when Jack spoke up.
"Hey guys," the young man said, "do you think that our next battle will be easier than the last one?"
"That's not the kind of attitude you should have, Jack." Klara told him.
"But we're heroes, shouldn't we be in anticipation for exciting, dangerous battles?" Jack retorted.
"Having a carefree attitude to being a hero isn't something that you should have 24/7." Diane pointed out. "You need to be more careful. If you aren't more serious about heroics, you could get worse than a severed arm. You could die!"
"Gee," he said, looking down, "now I feel stupid."
"It's okay," Lori spoke, "none of us are as used to being superheroes as we like to think. It's not easy to take the place of a team who had protected Acmetropolis for quite some time."
"Besides," Simon said, "we'll gain experience through later battles, just as long as we survive them and remember to study the villains that we fought in order to find out how to beat them."
Lexi came into the room a few minutes later, wiping sweat off of her forehead. This got the attention of the Mighty Loonatics.
"Man, that was one hell of a run!" Lexi said. "It's been a while since I've done stuff like that, especially since being on Blanc means that you don't have the time to do what you want! Being a hero is serious work, after all!"
"Yeah, we kinda know that, Lex." Simon stated.
"Being heroes is something we're learning more about." Teagan added.
"And you've still got lot to learn, which is why Zadavia is having us come to you guys to give you a hand." Lexi stated.
"Speaking of which, who will she send next?" Lori asked.
"Can't you wait before my turn is up?" The doe asked, somewhat offended.
"You'll have to excuse her, we're all bored at the moment." Jack said, hoping to ease tension. "Don't worry, it has nothing to do with you."
"Thanks, Jack." The rabbit said. "If any of you need me, I'll be in the training room."
As Lexi walked by, the Mighty Loonatics went back to talking to each other.
"Lori, you were being hella rude!" Simon said.
"I didn't mean to sound like that guys," Lori said, "it's just a really boring day."
"That still didn't give you the right to say that to Lexi." Jack stated. "She's one of the members of the main team."
"Jack, I know that, I just think it's kinda dull how we're being looked after like toddlers." The fennec said.
"Well, it's not like we can just take down each of our enemies without proper training and mentorship." Klara said. "If anything, working with the previous Loonatics is giving us plenty of experience."
"In other words, we have to put up with it for a while." Teagan stated.
"What do you guys think?" Lori asked, looking over at Diane and John.
"I really don't care." John said. "The Loonatics are heroes, they can do what they want."
"Besides," Diane spoke, "it's nice to speak to everyone from the original team. Teaming up with them doesn't hurt either."
Knowing that she was outvoted, Lori only shook her head and smiled. After that, the Mighty Loonatics continued to speak to each other, carrying on with their business.
Meanwhile, Lexi had just finished up in the training room. She had went through a session that involved fighting several heavily-armed men. Now that she was done, the doe sat down on a bench, taking out a bottle of water. Drinking from it, the Loonatic thought about what was going on at the moment. To her, it was a bit of a surprise that she was chosen to look after the Mighty Loonatics, seeing as she felt that Ace would've been a better choice. Nonetheless, Lexi was now in charge of the new recruits.
Speaking of which, who will she send next?
Those words went through Lexi's mind as she put her water bottle down. The doe could not help but sigh as she thought about what Lori said. While the rabbit could understand that she was bored, that gave the fennec no right to say what she said. Getting up from the bench, she decided not to join the Mighty Loonatics. Rather, she went to the room that used to belong to her during her time on Acmetropolis. Upon reaching it, Lexi opened the door and saw that her old room was completely empty.
"It sure has been a while since I've been here." Lexi spoke.
Entering the room, Lexi sat down on the floor. While sitting, the rabbit decided to relax for a little bit. As she did so, she thought of a way to bond with the Mighty Loonatics. While she knew that there were team-building exercises that she could do with them, the veteran Loonatic decided to focus on a single member or two. After a few minutes, Lexi got up from the floor and decided to leave the room. She then began to walk down the hallway, thinking to herself.
I hope that they'll like this idea.
Two hours later, and the Mighty Loonatics were in the kitchen. They were simply waiting for Lexi to arrive, seeing as they hadn't seen her for quite some time.
"Where do you guys think she could be?" Klara asked.
"I don't know," Simon said, "maybe she's out jogging again."
"I hope she comes out, I want to say something to her." Lori said.
"Is it another rude question?" Jack asked.
"No, it's just something that I want to tell her." The fennec said.
"Well, you'll get your chance, because she's coming." Diane said.
"Right, I forgot that you were a telepath." The long-eared vixen said.
All of a sudden, Lexi came into the room. This got the attention of the Mighty Loonatics, who were happy to see her. To their surprise, Lexi wasn't wearing her uniform. Rather, the doe was wearing a black cocktail dress and black high heel shoes. Her yellow fur and green eyes complimented her attractive outfit, with her eyes having a seductive charm to them. The new recruits were speechless, having not expected Lexi to dress up in such a way.
"Hey guys." Lexi greeted.
"Wow, you look beautiful!" Jack spoke.
"Thanks, but I'm not dressed to attract a mate." The doe said. "After all, I have a boyfriend."
"Then why are you dressed like that?" Simon asked.
"I just want to spend some time with the girls." The Loonatic said.
"You mean a girls' night out?" Klara asked.
"Yep." She said. "What do you think about that?"
The question was directed at Diane, Lori, and Teagan. The three looked at each other, expecting one of them to answer. After a few seconds, the Arctic fox, the fennec, and the mallard looked at Lexi.
"That's not a bad idea." Diane spoke.
"It would be nice to get out of here every so often." Lori stated.
"We did just take down a villain." Teagan said.
"I'm glad to hear that, guys." Lexi said.
Lori looked over at Klara.
"Hey, did you want to come with us?" The fennec asked.
"No," Klara stated, "a girls' night out is not really my thing."
"You're just going to hold down the fort with the others while we're gone?" Lexi asked.
Klara only nodded, letting her gestures speak for her. As for Diane, Lori, and Teagan, they stood up, looking at Lexi.
"Shall we dress up for the evening?" Teagan asked.
"You guys can wear whatever you want." Lexi answered.
Upon hearing that, Diane, Lori, and Teagan left the room. This left Lexi alone with the rest of the Mighty Loonatics, who allowed her to sit near them. A few minutes later, and Diane, Lori, and Teagan came back. Diane was wearing a light blue evening dress and high-heels. As for Lori, she wore a pink dress and some dress shoes. Teagan didn't dress like them, however. Rather, the mallard was wearing a blue dress shirt, dress pants, and high-heels.
Once they were ready, Lexi, Diane, Lori, and Teagan walked out of HQ, taking the elevator down to the street. After that, the four began to walk down the sidewalk, looking for somewhere to stop. While they did so, Diane used her telepathy to scan the area for anyone who would attack them. While she didn't sense a would-be attacker, the Arctic vixen kept her telepathy on. As for Lexi, she was looking around, scanning both sides of the street with her eyes.
"So, what do you guys want to do?" Lexi asked.
"I don't know where to go during this time of day." Teagan said.
"It's better for you to make the decisions, Lex." Lori said. "After all, this is your idea."
"In that case, I know that a movie started showing in Acmetropolis." Lexi said.
"What kind of movie?" The fennec asked.
"It's some action movie that the kids are talking about nowadays." The doe said.
"An action movie, eh?" Teagan asked.
"Yeah, but it's got a few funny moments." The rabbit said. "At least, that's what I heard."
"Want to check it out?" The mallard asked.
"Yeah, but only to see what we can get from the film." She said.
Teagan turned her head to Diane and Lori.
"Do you guys want to check out the movie Lexi's talking about?" She asked.
"It might be worth a few laughs, so yes." Diane said.
"Yeah, let's give it a watch." Lori said.
"Good to know." Lexi said. "And it's great that you gave your answers, because we're almost at the movie theater."
Upon reaching the entrance to the theater, Lexi went up to the ticket-taker. Diane, Lori, and Teagan stood near her, letting the ticket-taker know that Lexi didn't come alone. The doe then pulled four tickets out, handing them to the ticket-taker. He let the four Loonatics in, allowing them to go up to the concession stand. From there, Lexi bought a big bucket of popcorn and four sodas. Once that was out of the way, Diane, Lori, and Teagan followed the rabbit down to the room where the movie was being shown in.
"Man, you're really well-prepared, Lexi." Lori said.
"Actually, I bought those tickets two months ago." Lexi said. "I just never thought that I would use them."
"What was your original plan with the tickets?" Diane asked.
"Well, I was going to take Duck, Tech, and Rev to see the movie." The doe said. "That opportunity never came, though."
"But you had a new opportunity." Teagan said.
"Yep." The rabbit said, giving a friendly smile.
Upon entering the movie, Lexi, Diane, Lori, and Teagan took their seats. From there, they looked at the screen, watching the film as it played. The movie began with a monologue explaining the backstory of it, complete with listing who the protagonist was. As it went on, the film showed the protagonist, a former marine, having to save his wife from a criminal organization. However, the wife had a few moments where she outwitted her captors and fought back, and the protagonist was even joined in the rescue mission by his daughter, who happened to be a skilled hacker. The film ended with the protagonist's wife and daughter getting the drop on the main antagonist, as the protagonist gave them the opportunity.
By the time the movie had ended, Lori was ready to leave. However, she decided to wait for the others to get packed up. Once they were ready, the fennec followed Lexi, Diane, and Teagan out of the room. As they walked out of the theater, the Loonatic and the three new recruits talked to each other.
"Hey, Lexi, I have something I want to say to you." Lori said.
"What is it?" Lexi asked.
"I'm sorry for what I said earlier." The fennec said. "It was a dumb thing to say, and I didn't mean it."
"That's okay." The doe said. "I'm actually glad that you said that, as you gave me the idea for this girls' night out."
Lexi, Diane, Lori, and Teagan continued to walk down the road. However, Diane's telepathy began to pick up a threatening signal. The Arctic vixen gasped when she felt it approach them.
"Lori, behind you!" She cried.
All of a sudden, Lori was grabbed and taken aside. Looking behind them, Lexi, Diane, and Teagan saw a man holding the fennec at knifepoint, having her pinned to the wall of a building.
"Let go of me, you creep!" Lori hissed.
"Not until you give me your money!" The man said. "Hand it over, or you'll have a hole where your jugular used to be!"
Teagan approached the scene before her, intent on dealing with the mugger herself.
"Let her go." The mallard spoke.
The mugger didn't let go of Lori. Rather, he turned his head and saw Teagan. The criminal only flashed a wicked grin, believing that he had the high ground.
"So," the mugger spoke, "you're going to try and help your friend here? I might as well kill the both of you! It will be what you get, you dumb girl!"
Teagan didn't show fear, letting out a chuckle instead. After that, she stared at the mugger.
"It's not wise to say brainless insults in front of someone you don't know." Teagan calmly said.
The mugger didn't say anything, letting Lori go. However, he kept his knife out, willing to use it.
"I used to work with the government, partaking on rescue missions and helping take down scumbags who have done worse than you." Teagan said. "So, what makes you think that I won't be willing to use my training on you?"
"Do you have a screw loose or something?" The mugger asked. "Am I supposed to know what you're talking about?"
"Not quite," the mallard told him, "but I'm only going to say this once: Those who hurt my friends need to pay for their actions!"
Before the mugger could react, a jolt of electricity knocked him down. After that, Teagan had Lexi call a police officer to come by and arrest the mugger. When the cops arrived, however, Lexi saw an officer she had never seen before. This officer was a gray squirrel with brown eyes. He was the one to put the mugger in a police cruiser, watching as it sped off with the captured criminal. Lexi, followed by Diane, Lori, and Teagan, went up to the officer.
"Excuse me," Lexi spoke, "but who are you?"
"I'm Dustin Vaughan." The officer spoke. "But, you can call me Officer Vaughan. I'm new around here, and I'm looking to help keep the town clean. Don't let that keep you from going about your day. Have a good evening, Miss, and welcome back!"
Officer Vaughan got into another police cruiser, allowing it to speed off with him. After that, Lexi, Diane, Lori, and Teagan were left alone in the street.
"So, what do you guys want to do next?" Lexi asked.
"I hear that there's a tiramisu place around the corner. Want to go there?" Diane spoke.
"That sounds good." The doe said.
"Yeah, tiramisu is pretty good." Lori said.
"I haven't had it in a while." Teagan stated.
"Alright, let's go!" Diane said.
The four went to a tiramisu restaurant, where they enjoyed what they had ordered. After that, Lexi, Diane, Lori, and Teagan went back to HQ, concluding their girls' night out. The rest of the team hadn't done anything while they were gone, so there was no trouble. The night went by peacefully, with nothing major going on for the remainder of it.
Note: I admit, this chapter was kinda hard to write. I can blame that mainly on my tendency to lose my focus while writing something. Nonetheless, I hope that you have enjoyed this. Until next time guys, this is Newcomer24, signing off. Peace! Also, have a happy new year!
