Lincoln looks out of the window of the UH-60 that had picked him up he looked down to see refuges moving along trying to find an new place to live or at least wait until the war was over.
" It happened so fast" Lincoln said a he began to narrate " After Lola and Lana knocked over those boxes that held those filled out ballots" Lincoln said as he remembered that day " the news spread like wild fire soon voting polls began to be raided by people who were wanting to know the truth and when they took the lids off those boxes they were shocked and then it all fell apart"
" Breaking news from Dallas Armed civilians have stormed the Federal building taking hostages" "This is coming in From the windy city the Mayor of Chicago is dead." " Members of the 'Squad' Have captured by the people of Michigan"
" Left wing politicians have fled towards the the western states of America" "Mid western states have seceded from the united states government." " the mayor of New York has fled towards Europe" " Southern states have once again form there own Government Known as the Southern Alliance" The news channels are turned off.
" The country broke apart practically over night" Lincoln stated
"North and South Dakota,Nebraska, Kansas,Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, Wisconsin,Illinois, Michigan,Indiana,Ohio Formed the Mid Western Federation, West Virginia and Virginia were part of what was left of the United states which where the northeastern states. States on west side of the country from Montana,Wyoming,Colorado,New Mexico towards Washington, Oregon, and California became known as the Liberal Union where people who were part of the far left movement reside" Lincoln said.
" The year is 2030 For six years The Mid Western Federation and the Southern Alliance have fought together against the US and the Liberal Union resulting in a stall mate like that of the first world war but three months ago that all changed three months ago" Lincoln stated

Lincoln exits the Helicopter and makes his way towards the command center where the colonel was talking with other officers " Alright get those men ready to move out once the resupply is done" The colonel said to the officer "Yes Sir" the officer said as she saluted the colonel and exits the command center.
" Colonel " Lincoln said as he saluted his superior officer " At ease Staff Sergeant" the colonel told Lincoln as he stood at ease. The colonel looks up from the maps that he was looking at and see's Lincoln waiting to talk. " Do you have anything to report son?" the colonel asks " Nothing out of the usual sir just another Three man patrol " Lincoln told his commanding officer.
" Must have been stragglers from that failed offensive in May" the colonel said as he came from behind the table. " Doesn't matter are forces have broken through as of last night Pittsburgh and Erie have fallen" He said.
This caught Lincolns attention Pittsburgh and Erie where to only two cities that were stepping stones to take the capital. " What about are forces Fight the L,U,?" Lincoln asked " Are boys in the Dakota's are throwing everything they have at them from Montana to Colorado. The southern Alliance is taking care of New Mexico" The colonel said to Lincoln.
" We take these states we'll end up driving the L,U, right in to the Pacific" He said. Lincoln simple nodded. The colonel looks towards Lincoln " Are you ready for your next objective son?" the colonel asked " Yes sir" Lincoln replied.
" Good cause I'm sending you to the Carolina's with the Thirty second to help the cut through US Defenses in Virginia from there we can take the state and move north towards Maine" the colonel said.
This caused Lincoln to look at him in confusion " Maine sir?" Lincoln asked with a raised eyebrow " Are intelligence reports that the president and his generals including his advisors have moved there location to Maine to direct the war effort in case there offensive failed" He told Lincoln.
" they moved closer to Canada so they had somewhere to fallback and know that we can't cross the border" Lincoln concluded knowing that would be the only reason to move north from D.C.
The colonel nodded " We can't let the president get to Canada " the colonel said. " Gather your gear your shipping out at Dawn".
Lincoln is in the barracks getting his gear set to leave for the Carolina's as he starts packing he notices a picture that was on a night stand the picture was of him from two years ago With Clyde, Rusty, Liam, and Zach they were part of the Twenty Second Michigan they had join the infantry division while Stella opted to be a pilot.
A small tear escapes his eye and rolls down as he looks at the picture the the memories began to flood his mind.
Two years ago the front lines
Lincoln, Clyde, Rusty, Liam and Zach where in the trenches that had been dug due to the fact that buildings were far and few from each other. Night had fallen and being with it being the mid west the winter nights were harsh to those who weren't any were close to a fire.
Rusty was shaking from the cold air even with a blanket around him he and the others where huddled together to keep warm. " Why did they have revoke are passes to head home for the holidays?" Rusty asked not liking the fact the the holidays had come around and the passes they had were revoked because they need more men for the front lines.
" Will you stop complaining already Rusty?" Zach asked getting real tired of his friends complaining. Just as Rusty was about to say something a female officer approached the group " Loud?" She asked getting Lincoln's attention. " Yes ma'am ?" Lincoln asked " Your turn to watch for the enemy and as for the rest of you" She says as she looks at the others " there's Hot chocolate and fresh baked cookies over at the mess hall tent better grabbed them while you can" She said as she walked away from them.
Lincoln sighed as he got and grabbed his rile " See you guys in a couple of hours" Lincoln said " same here buddy I'll try to save you a cookie or two if I can" Clyde said to his best friend " thanks Clyde after months of eating MRE's I could really used a cookie" Lincoln said and then waved good bye to them.
Guard post
Lincoln sat with another soldier who was keeping watch though it was night and all he was starring at was Darkness " Why are you looking at the Darkness?" Lincoln asked him " Kid" the soldier said looking back him " I'm a history buff I've studied and still studying wars that This country has fought before all this" the soldier said as he sat down looking at Lincoln
" During the first Civil war between the north and south one of the battles which was the battle Wauhatchie that was part of the campaign to take Chattanooga Tennessee" the soldier stopped to inspect his rifle making sure that it was ready of action "They attacked at night because the confederate soldiers never anticipated a night assault that resulted in a union Victory" the soldier said as he looks off into the distance then back at Lincoln.
" What about you kid where are you from?" He asked "Royal woods Michigan" Lincoln said to him." Michigan huh?" the soldier asked with Lincoln nodding " Sounds nice I moved to Wisconsin in August of 24' before everything went to shit" The soldier told Lincoln as he looked back up out into the darkness.
" Really where are you from?" Lincoln asked " the Broken State California" He said.
Lincoln looked at him with a confused look on his face " I thought California was called the 'Golden State'?" Lincoln asked.
" It was 'Golden once' But after years of politicians who make empty promises and then don't act on them when they take office made me realize that it wasn't worth staying there. Hell I was born there in August of 99 but I need to make a move that would better me ya know" the soldier said as he let out a sigh.
Just as Lincoln was about to say something the soldier held up his hand signaling Lincoln not to talk, this caused Lincoln to become nervous.
The soldier looks at him and mouths ' Get ready' Lincoln gulps nervously and takes the safety off his rifle. The soldiers grabs a pair of night vision goggle's and looks through them in front of just about three feet away US troops began to creep towards him " Gotta ya" He said as he opens up on them
" CONTACT!" Lincoln shouts as he fires his rifle. In the trenches M,W,F Soldiers who were trying to stay awake jump to the feet and raised there guns and fire the calm darkness soon came to life with gun fire going back and forth.
With Lincolns friends They had just sat down with Hot chocolate and warm chocolate chip cookies when the fighting started " Are you kidding me right know!" Rusty shouts as he grabs his rifle and looks over the trenches and fires and ducks for cover " Enemy soldiers are in the trenches I repeat enemy soldiers are in the trenches!" A A soldier shouted over the radio.
Clyde was struggling to reload his rifle because this was his first combat experience of his life. The magazine falls out of his hand the he began to break down and tears began to fall " I don't belong here" He said as he looked up at his friends " I- I wanna- I wanna go home" Clyde told them Rusty, Liam and Zach look at clyde with Sadness in there eyes.
Then a whistling sound was heard and it began to grown louder that's when there eyes widen " Move!" someone shouts and everything go's black.
Guard post
Lincoln and the soldier were taking cover as artillery fire began to rain down on them " Stay Down!" A voice was heard the barrage lasted about ten minutes. Once it stopped the soldiers in the trenches looked up " Get ready here they come!" Someone shouted Lincoln grabs his rifle and aims down his sights.
The soldier who was on guard duty with Lincoln taps him on the shoulder " short round burst don't waist your ammo" He told Lincoln who nodded. Flares were launched over there heads the flares produced enough light to see soldiers crawling towards them and firing at them.
Lincoln fires his rifle at them but notice multiple Bradley fighting Vehicle's with US infantry men following behind them " We have to move!" the soldier shouted towards Lincoln. without missing a beat Lincoln follows the soldier " Fall Back! Fall Back to the secondary positions" the soldier shouted to the others who listened to the orders. Lincoln runs for his life with bullets flying over his head.
" This way!" The soldiers shouted as he lead Lincoln towards a munitions area " Quick Grab a Javelin " He said To Lincoln " Okay now what?" Lincoln asks " Okay we gonna go up to the watcher tower that's literally three minute from here were gonna go up and take out those Bradley's That's gonna stop there advance and by sometime until reinforcements arrive" the soldier tells Lincoln.
He places his hand on Lincoln's shoulder " Hey your gonna survive this trust me" He told Lincoln. " come on" He said the two exit the munitions area and rush towards the tower as bullets are flying past them three minutes is what it took but for the two of them it felt like three hours.
" You four!" the soldier shouted at a group of four who were rushing towards the front " I'm gonna need you the four of you to cover us" He said gesturing towards himself and Lincoln " Were gonna take out those Bradley's but we need support in case the enemy rushes understand?" He asks the soldier nods "good " He and and looks at Lincoln " come on" .
Lincoln and the others follow the soldiers lead and make to the watch tower " okay one of you man the 50 cal the rest of you hold this position" the soldier ordered the rest nodded and took defensive positions in front of the watch tower.
" Okay here we go " the soldier said as he lifted the Javelin. As he looks through the sights of the Javelin and locks on to the Bradley signature and fires with in seconds the light armored fighting vehicle is destroyed in an explosion. " Okay your turn" the soldier said to Lincoln who nods his head Lincoln lifts up his Javelin and locks on to another Bradley and fires resulting in it being destroyed.
The soldier looks at Lincoln and smiles " Not bad kid Not bad "the the soldier said as pats Lincoln on the shoulder. " come on we got two more" the soldier " Reload your Javelin and fire " the soldier said as he fired and destroyed the third vehicle Lincoln fires and destroys the fourth one " Good now let's get done there and get back into the fight" the soldier said.
Lincoln and five other soldiers move into the trenches as the sounds of gun fire was every where Lincoln takes cover from gunfire a group of US soldiers charged them. One of the pins Lincoln to the ground and begins to choke him. Lincoln struggling to break free from the enemy's grasp as he struggles to brake free from being chocked he see's a hammer from that was laying on the ground from a new section that was about to build.
Lincoln extends his arm to reach for it as the soldier continued to choke Lincoln. Starting to loss consciousness he tries even hard until he he reaches it. Lincoln Grabs the hammer and bashes the soldier in the head knocking him off of Lincoln.
Lincoln then gets on top and beats the soldier to death with the hammer by the time it;s over Lincolns face was covered in blood and pieces of brain.
" Hey Lincoln" the soldier who was on guard with Lincoln asks getting his attention " You ok?" He asks him Lincoln slowly nods. " Okay come one this isn't over not by a long shot" He said to Lincoln.
When Morning Came the US charge had failed but the casualties had mounted M,W,F infantry and Air support stopped the advanced and sent them back to there lines. Lincoln had separated from the group that he was with to find his friends " Clyde!" Lincoln shouts his friends name " Rusty! Zach!" he shouts "Liam!" He shouts.
Lincoln continues to call out there names until " Clyde are you - guys- al" Lincoln stops as he arrives at the location before he left of guard duty he had hoped they had survived but what he found was the body blown to pieces from the artillery barrage his friends his brother were dead. Lincoln Falls to his knees and lets out a cry of anger.
Present day
Lincoln is brought of his thoughts when he fills someone tap him on the shoulder " Hey Lame-o how's it going" Ronnie Anne said to him.
