"Remus! Quit daydreaming! That customer's been waiting for ten minutes." James snapped, throwing a paper cup at Remus. He sighed and rubbed the back of his head while apologising to the long queue in front of him. James was always short-tempered and stressed during the Monday eight forty-five rush of everyone getting their coffees before work. Still, just because it was busy didn't mean that James could go around throwing cups at people.

Remus couldn't help but notice the customer's wild red hair and dazzling emerald eyes. He felt like he was staring into her soul by how wide they were. Though, obviously, from the colour of her hair, he wasn't sure if she actually had a soul. "You're staring!" he mentally yelled at himself. "Uh, I really am so sorry. Welcome to Buck's Coffee, what can I get you today?"

"Can I get a mocha frappe please?"

Remus nodded, "Coffee and cream?"

The redhead smiled. "Yes, thank you, and to go."

He gave her a mock salute. "Coming right up! So what are you going to do today?" Remus asked while preparing her drink. "Got any nice plans?"

"Just work," she laughed. "But I am going on a date tonight. He works at a coffee shop too! He's got brown, curly hair and a really cute smile. And he wears glasses!"

"Oh, nice. What's his name?" After blending, Remus finished off the drink with a dollop of whipped cream and chocolate sauce. He was so busy trying not to squirt the sauce all over himself (again) that he nearly didn't hear the girl's reply.

"James. His name's James."

Remus blanched. Well, he hadn't been expecting that.

"Say something," his mind snapped.

"James Potter?" He asked, just to make sure.

The girl nodded and Remus lit up. "What a surprise — James and I are friends."

She grinned. "Nice to meet you then. I'm Lily."

"Remus," he held out a hand.

She shook it with a small laugh. "What a coincidence."

"Oi, Remus– oh, hi Lily." James gave the redhead a small wink, to which she blushed.

"Hey, James. Excited for tonight?"

"Remus, I'm going to take my break now…" James said, eyes locked with Lily's. "Don't burn the place down. Please."

"Fine," Remus muttered, handing Lily her mocha frappe. "Have a nice day."

A tear prickled Remus' eye. He had never been so jealous of James. James usually went out on dates quite often, but Remus had never even managed to get another boy to look at him. He even started this stupid job at James' coffee shop in the hopes that he'd have some fanfiction-type romance. But no. Nothing at all.

"Hi, are you okay?" Remus looked up to see a handsome man with grey eyes and black, curly hair, softly smiling at him.

"Yeah, fine, why?"

"Because you were crying, I think." He gently wiped a tear off Remus' cheek, and his hand softly cupped his face. It fit so perfectly.

"Are we? Is this?" Remus' eyes widened as the man leant in slightly. Remus coughed violently and pulled back. "Ugh… Well, what would you like to o– order?"

"One caramel latte please. For the name Sirius. And could I get a pastry with that?"

Remus nodded, barely paying attention. "Uh huh, uh huh." He had just realised that this man was wearing a leather jacket (in the summer? Hot!) over a tank top, which showed off his toned body.

"Are you going to keep staring at me and saying 'uh huh' or actually make my coffee?" Sirius teased. "There is a long line behind me."

"Oh, um, right. To go or eat in?"

"To go… But I'll be back later, I'm sure. To get some other sweet treat." Sirius winked.

Remus flushed and, with an awkward cough, turned away from Sirius.

True to his word, the man was back once he'd finished his coffee and pastry, standing in front of the till with an annoying smirk plastered on his face.

"So…" Sirius drawled.

"Hmm?" Remus didn't deign him with more of a response, frustrated that Sirius wasn't giving him any leverage here.

"So, where are we going, then?"

Remus turned to Sirius and raised an eyebrow. "What on earth do you mean?"

Sirius scoffed. "I mean, I think you're cute, and you blushed earlier. I'm single; I assume you are too? No matter. I'm taking you out. So where do you want to go?"

"The cat cafe?" Remus responded, too shocked to say anything else.

"Ah, sounds good…" Sirius paused, leaning on the counter. "I never got your name," he muttered, seeming a bit embarrassed.

Remus chuckled. "Remus. Are you free next Saturday?"

Sirius gave him a short nod. "Three PM," he said, turning to walk out of the cafe. "I bid you farewell, Sir Remus!"

"Bye," Remus replied, a small smile tugging at his lips.

"Excuse me? I want to order!" A middle-aged woman was snapping her fingers at him.

He sighed, returning to his work. Saturday was a few days away, afterall. "What would you like?"

Saturday came far too slowly for Remus' liking. He didn't have Sirius' number so they couldn't text, and James was busy, between the cafe and Lily.

Remus placed the paper cup beneath the coffee machine as the man waiting for his cappuccino bobbed his head to the song playing through the cafe speakers.

He was in the last ten minutes of his shift before his date with Sirius and Remus could not wait to be done.

After the cappuccino man, there was a lovely old lady who ordered lavender tea and another complaining woman who did not seem to understand that there was such a thing as kindness-

Oh, look at that!

Remus, after a signal to his co-workers, headed to the back to take off his badge and apron. Shrugging on his denim jacket, he left through the back door, starting to make his way to his date and, ultimately, to Sirius.

If it was possible – because Remus wouldn't have thought it was just the other day – Sirius was much, much hotter.

Oh god, and he was dressing down.

Remus almost fainted on the spot but managed to keep it together.

"Hello," he said, sidling up to the black-haired man, who was leaning against the wall next to the cat cafe.

"Hi, Remus." Sirius smiled. "You look good."

"Likewise," he smiled. "Shall we go inside?"

Their first date was a success. As was the second, and the third, and all the rest.

And every time, Remus fell deeper for Sirius.

Until the man was down on his knee, holding out a ring for Remus to take.

Of course he said yes.

A few months into their engagement, Sirius brought up the idea of opening their own cafe. Remus laughed it off before he realised that Sirius had been teaching himself how to bake and brew.

They bought an old property close to the cat cafe where they had their first date, fixed up the place a bit, and had an official opening.

The cafe thrived.

James, as one of Remus' oldest friends, left the cafe he worked in previously to work with Remus and Sirius. He had married Lily just a few months ago, and they had a child on the way not even a year later.

Remus and Sirius, married by that point, were named as godfathers of Harry James Potter.

They couldn't be happier.

"Uncle Remus! Uncle Remus!" Harry called out, running up to him behind the counter, chubby child hands held fast around a cup. "Look! I made Uncle Sirius!"

Remus took the coffee to examine the design. It looked… nothing like Sirius. But he wasn't about to tell the kid that.

James stood behind Harry, trying hard not to laugh.

"Very nice, Harry," he congratulated.

In fact, it looked a bit like a dog.
