Author's Note:

I do not own Library of Ruina or RWBY. These series belong to Project Moon and RoosterTeeth respectively.

Oh boy, another chapter to publish. This is by far the longest chapter I've written. I'm just glad that I actually finished it. Hopefully, I did well enough.

Reviews:

Orchidbunny - Thanks for telling me this, I have a problem forgetting to either introduce a character or make their appearance more descriptive. Also, the mask and shotgun problem was fixed in Chapter 2.

Argorok - Hey, thanks for encouraging me to continue writing. I don't think I can come up with something interesting regarding the plot line, but I aim to please.

VGBlackwing - I would like to think that bullets in both universes are kinda useless as a joke. My headcanon is that Library of Ruina bullets are weaker than RWBY's bullets because the Head limited the damage bullets caused and RWBY has dust bullets. Either way, a gun is still a gun and guns hurt. Argalia was a special case; he was the only one capable of ignoring bullet damage because it's Argalia, no one else can have that passive.

holygamer123 - Thanks for reading! I remember reading Lushikatomikyarimimo's The Huntsmen and the Librarians and thought 'What if the entire Library was brought here instead of the three.' and was inspired to wing it and make this. Hopefully, the confrontation between the two parties ends well, even though I don't know how it will it turn out. Plus Limbus Company is coming out soon, so I hope you have fun playing it as well!

Raraiki - Hmm, thanks for the criticisms, I kinda need them. I added some more dialogue regarding Team RWBY's first mission and fixed the issue with Roland's gloves. It's been really difficult for me to remember anything I wrote before when I continue writing. Anyways, thanks for reading!

Edited: 3/22/24 - Fixed some grammar; added a sentence to explain why Blake couldn't hear Roland, Gebura, and Chesed talk about Remnant

EMERALD FOREST–

The Library's entrance slowly opened after hours of being inactive. The bright sun shone through the crack of the doors, blinding the three librarians that stepped out of the tower. To the previous employees of the former Lobotomy Corporation, it had been years since they actually walked outside.

"Ahh~, it's been too long." Chesed finally let out a noise while stretching in the afternoon light.

The other two Patrons hesitatingly put their foot on the earth. To Gebura, it had been about 10 years since she actually stepped on grass; whilst to Roland, it had been about a few months of only stepping on wood or metal floors in the Library. Once they planted their feet on the ground, a wave of euphoria hit them. It was just simple dirt, nothing more, but to them, it was a symbol. This was dirt that wasn't soiled or desecrated by the cruel nature of the City. A forest for them to explore, a new world that wasn't filled with corruption or sorrow. The air felt cleaner and more refreshing; it was like they were breathing in crap the entire time back in the City. There was no Head, no City, no violence…just freedom.

Roland, the man who killed thousands of people, destroyed entire crime organizations, fought for a week straight against a blue sicko and his band of weirdos, and became part of an Impurity, shedding a single tear at this sight. 'Angelica. Are you seeing this?'

"…Man, I'll fucking stop smoking if this is what we'll be seeing every day." The lush green forest had stunned Gebura. "This is an experience that can't be bought by anything."

After they were done taking in their surroundings, the three librarians eyed a single path leading away from the Library. It was a very obvious trail that led somewhere, but who knew where it would lead? Roland just shrugged and walked down the path, being followed by the other Patrons. Half an hour had passed and the path seemed to be endless, Roland and Chesed took it upon themselves to start a conversation and Gebura ignored their talk as they walked; however, the red fixer noticed something off in the distance in between the trees.

'Those look like buildings.' The buildings were quite a distance away, but not too far. "Hey!" Garnering the men's attention. "I see something over there."

They left the pathway to push through the leafage of the bushes towards the buildings Gebura saw. Once they got closer, it was painfully obvious to them. 'What the hell happened here?' All of them thought.

It was a city. A big emphasis on the 'was'. Many stone buildings were destroyed; the ground was cracked like something shattered it with a weapon, it was like a war strolled by and wrecked the place. It was obvious that it didn't look like anyone was living here. Partially broken stone pillars lead the trio to what looked like a temple in the distance. As they walked toward the end of the pillars, another sight took them by surprise.

There was a large chasm, bigger than anything they'd seen, with massive stone bridges and towers supported by the stone pillars that reached into the darkness of the abyss. In the middle was a central tower that was partially destroyed, with a few smaller towers surrounding it.

Seeing the destroyed city brought their mood down, Roland noticed this and tried to raise their morale. "Well…This is a 'hole' new problem." He said while having a smirk on his face. Chesed let out a chuckle while Gebura just facepalmed. "Anyways, it looks like people did exist so that's a good sign." The other two Patrons accepted that conclusion.

The exploration team noticed how large the area was and looked at each other; silently nodding to split up and find out what happened or if there was anything that could help them. They went off on their own: Chesed strolled towards the central tower whilst keeping a hand on the pommel of Esther's sword, Gebura searched the abandoned buildings to find resources, while Roland looked back into the forest to play lookout. Despite the relatively destroyed buildings behind him, this was a nice world to live in. The Library was an infinite place of space, he saw some berries and fruits on the way here, and maybe actual clean water could be found. However, his thoughts trailed off as the black-haired man felt one emotion that he knew all too well: bloodlust.

He had jinxed himself. His eyes darted around to locate the intense emotion. It's been a while since he had company find him first before arriving in the Library where the battles came to him. He hastily equipped the perception-blocking mask and his wife's gloves and summoned his own personal weapon: Durandal, a sleek, blackened claymore with a blackish-silver crossguard. There were three belts buckled onto it toward the opening of the sheath as he held it with his left hand while he gripped the sword with his right. In the middle of equipping himself, he scanned the area around him; there was a forest in front of him and a destroyed city behind him. Then, he noticed something in the shadows of the forest. Two blood-red, glaring eyes looked back into his own. 'What the-' Before he even got a chance to say or do anything, he was cut off when the owner of the pair of red eyes suddenly strolled towards him.

A giant, black animal came out from the tree line, it was even darker than Roland's attire because it seemed to absorb all the light surrounding it. Roland saw how big the animal really was when it was about twice his size and most likely four times pissed off. The creature was a very big wolf that stood on his hind legs albeit with a slouch. Covering its face was a pure white skull accented with red markings that acted like an exoskeleton for the creature. Spikes ran along its spine, arms, and legs. Its features screamed fear. Whatever world caused this monster to evolve like this must be a fucked up one. The black fixer and 'Big and Will be Bad Wolf' clone started to circle each other and took a moment to study each other, assessing the best way to approach the fight.

To Roland, this was the first living thing he's seen in this new world; and it was not a great first impression. "Geez, I guess there are monsters in this world too. Give me a break." He let out a forced chuckle as pointed his sword at the black beast. It had been not even a day since arriving in the new world; he was still feeling a bit weak after that hellish week fighting the Library, Argalia, and the Head. He wouldn't just lie down and die because of those excuses; he was a fixer who came a long way, and he wouldn't die from this. His demeanor changed to a serious expression.

Seeing the weapon in the man's hand, the blackened wolf rushed towards him on all fours at full speed. Similar to the wolf's strategy of running at him, Roland started sprinting. The force of their charge picked up dirt and dust. As they got closer and closer, Roland's emotions started to intensify much like they did back when the Library was still operational. Sensing the increase of emotion from the human, the wolf suddenly leaped into the air with its right arm pulling back to release a heavy slash. The experienced fixer raised his black claymore into the air. Both attacks launched almost at the same time, but Roland was faster. The thin claymore sliced into the thick fur of the beast, leaving a black trail outlined in gloss white. It wasn't enough to cut through, but it stopped the wolf's attack in the process. A few more swings from under then another slash using both hands on the handle. The beast was still alive after 'Tch, it's even tougher than it looks.' The fixer thought to himself. 'But I'm feeling a bit stronger after hitting it a bunch.'

The wolf retreated back a little after its attack was stopped short. It let out a bark at Roland before continuing its hunt. Once again, the monster lunged toward him with the same ruthlessness, but a smarter approach. Seeing the same action from his opponent, Roland held up his sword to intercept the attack again. The wolf swung a left attack and Roland swung his weapon at the same time, however, the beast intercepted Roland's attack by grabbing Durandal's blade. Initially shocked, the fixer quickly punched the wolf with his left fist, making the blackened creature recoil from the sudden attack. The fixer eyed his opportunity, he yanked his sword from the vices of the beast and slashed up: removing the animal's left hand.

The fixer noticed his opponent staggering back after his attack. Its dismembered left arm was leaking black smoke as it snarled at him, even though he could barely hear it due to the gloves' properties. 'That is not normal' He mentally noted. 'Guess I'll just finish it.' The black gloves emitted a black mist that surrounded it, revealing a large katana in a sheath similar to the size and color of the previous weapon. Roland held onto the blade's cover with his left hand while holding the handle with his right much like a samurai. Even after being weakened by their previous clash, the wolf charged at him with more ferocity, only to be cut down in an instant by the Mook Workshop blade. Multiple slashes hit the animal, surprising it, considering that the blade never left the sheath. The wolf didn't have any time to process the rest of the fight as the man slashed at its neck, robbing it of the opportunity to kill more people.

"Well, that was simple…It didn't take too long." The fixer simply bragged as he put away the katana back into the gloves. "Well now, I wonder if you're edible." He stared back at his once-living enemy, only for it to start evaporating into a black mist. "What the hell?" The corpse was gone, it scattered into the air much like how the Guests and Librarians did once they fell in the Library.

Frankly, the fixer wasn't all that surprised, just unexpected. He'd seen other eldritch horrors before in the City and in the Library, this was nothing like what he witnessed but it wasn't the weirdest. He looked back at the forest to search for any more of these wolves, yet nothing came out after a few minutes. He was about to turn around to go tell the other Patrons of this discovery until he noticed something zipping through the trees. It was fast, like really fast; faster than him and the deceased wolf.

'Now what?' His luck was really bad today. A red thing suddenly stopped a decent amount of meters in front of him. 'A person. A young girl dressed in red and black. Looks like there are people here after all.' She didn't even look older than Tiphereth. The girl looked like she was cosplaying with all the gothic clothes and a large red cape she had. A red, metal box was attached to her waist. 'Maybe it's her boxed lunch to feed her grandma' He remembered that fairy tale from his grandma. Now that he was thinking about it, didn't he just kill the wolf in that story? There was also that red-hooded mercenary in the Library with a kill boner for her story's wolf. Eh, whatever. She was standing next to a tree messing around with a transparent plate or something, he couldn't tell what it was.

The professional fixer got closer to her to ask a few questions regarding the world they were going to live in. A few seconds later, she suddenly whipped out her metal box and it expanded into a giant freaking scythe. 'Holy shit, that thing is huge.' He mentally gasped. 'O-kay… Fucking Red Riding Hood is a grim reaper.' This world was getting weirder and weirder by the minute. At this point, she was scanning her surroundings looking for something. Roland didn't know how social interactions in this world worked; maybe people killed each other as a way of saying 'Hi'. He wouldn't risk getting attacked without some protection of some sort. The gloves of the Black Silence summoned Atelier Logic's custom-designed shotgun: a massive black gun that was silver in the large muzzle and plate on top of the gun.

PRESENT–

Ruby Rose was internally panicking: 'Who is this? Why are they dressed in all black? What is that mask? Are they some kind of huntsmen? What kind of gun is that? What kind of ammo does it use? How doe-' The rest of her thoughts related to her soon-to-be interrogator's gun trailed off from their original questioning.

The same voice that asked her a question snapped her back to reality. "Are you gonna answer me?" The person said in a serious tone from under that mask. "...Hello?"

"AH! I'msosorryaboutthat! Iwasjustlookingatyourgun! Whatisitmadeofwhatkindof–" She noticed her rambling and quickly shut herself up. "Uhm, w-why are y-you pointing your gun at me?" She asked in the nicest way possible.

The fixer took his left arm off his gun and pointed toward her hands but still kept his right hand's pointer finger near the trigger. The Red Riding Hood look alike dragged her eyes from the masked person to her hands, which were carrying a giant, red scythe/sniper rifle pointed at them. "OH MY GOSH! I'm so sorry!" She embarrassingly apologized as she collapsed her giant, metal baby.

The person in front of her relaxed a little and let out a little sigh. "It's fine, kid. Now te–"

The person was about to lower their own firearm when a familiar voice shouted from the left of her. "HEY! GET THE HELL AWAY FROM HER!" Two shotguns blasted through the forest and a yellow individual slammed into her 'attacker', blasting him away from Ruby.

"AAUGH!" Roland let out a pained grunt as their entire body flew a few meters from its original position. He was punched with so much force that the tree that stopped them was destroyed in the process, splinters flying everywhere. 'Man…Today is still not my day…'

His own shotgun disappeared into his gloves as he took out his gauntlet and dagger combo made by Ranga Workshop. The gauntlets were black and had silver accents, both almost covered his entire forearms, and the fingertips had sharp claws. The other part of this combo deal was the serrated combat knife that had a dark-silverish blade attached to a black handle.

Soon, the rest of Team RWBY arrived at the scene. All of them save for Ruby had their weapons out and ready for combat. Blake ran up to join her partner and Weiss stood in front of hers. "Ruby! Are you alright?"

The white-haired heiress looked at her partner with concern leaking in her voice. "Who was that!?"

The red huntress-in-training was about to answer before another voice, the same one who punched the masked character interrupted her: "WHO THE HELL ARE YOU!" Her sister reiterated Weiss's question in a more aggressive tone and was standing a few meters in front of the team, protecting them from the person who pointed a gun at her baby sister.

"Yang! It's ok! I wasn't hurt!" Ruby tried to calm Yang down, but her words died upon reaching the blonde brawler's ears. The rage at almost losing her sister again prevented her from hearing her little sister's pleas.

After being tossed like a ragdoll, Roland got back up. The pain from being smashed into a tree faded away, but it still stung. Through his mask, he looked at his attackers to determine how he would deal with this situation. 'The blonde bitch is pissed beyond belief, something about the red girl is her sister? The white girl looks like she supports the team, and the black girl looks the most experienced.' His experiences as a fixer made him a very good observationalist, it was required if you wanted to work in the City. 'Hmm…These girls look a little young to know how to fight, but who am I to judge another world's culture.' The City practically conditioned people to kill to live, he wasn't that much different. Although… he didn't want to kill the first people he met in this world as a first impression of the Library, he wasn't like Angela when they first met. "Hey! Let's just chill out okay?"

Those words fell on deaf ears as the pent-up rage consumed Yang and she charged forward at Roland who in turn flipped his combat knife into a reverse grip in his right hand. Blake, on the other hand, took her partner's side as she detached Gambol Shroud into its two forms: the black and white pistol/sickle and the black sheath/cleaver. The faunus-in-hiding took some pop shots at the fixer who in turn sliced them in the air with the serrated blade. Even if the bullets hit him, his fixer augmentations would lessen the effects. As the blonde brawler grew closer and closer, pulling back a right fist; Roland saw the very obvious right hook and unsummoned his knife as he put up his left gauntlet to parry the oncoming attack. As expected, her fist slid off the workshop's gauntlet to the left, making her miss her attack.

This repeated a few times: parrying, blocking, redirecting every attack that was thrown at him. Enraged at how the fight was not progressing and how Yang was missing him over and over, she pulled back another fist, charging for a final blow. The fixer, who was getting a bit tired of dodging and parrying, decided that it would be a great time to end this. As her fist traveled through the air like a bullet to his face, Roland gracefully ducked under the fist. Now that the blondie over-extended herself, Roland pulled back his right fist and instantly connected an uppercut into her stomach.

Although the punch didn't look like it affected Yang all that much, she felt her aura greatly drop. It was like a car had hit her. 'This person is strong!' She recoiled back and put a hand over the area where she got punched.

Blake saw her teammate and partner in danger, she didn't hesitate to protect them. In an instant, she entered the fight, swinging her aura-infused cleaver at Roland from the side. He didn't have time to adjust to the black girl's attack. It connected to Roland's upper right arm, cutting deep into it, leaving blood on the cleaver in the process. "Dammit! Ah, that shit hurts." He jumped back as his blood was dying his black suit a very darker black. 'Great, my right arm's out of the fight. What am I going to do now?'

Team RWBY was shocked upon seeing the masked person's arm limp. 'This person doesn't have aura!' They all thought at the same time. Ruby and Weiss were shocked, it was a lot of blood flowing out of the person's arm. Yang, still having the wind knocked out of her, snapped out of her rage to take in what had happened. Blake, however, was not doing so great: 'I-I didn't k-know.' She went to Beacon to make herself a better person, to show that the Faunus could be equal to humans, and to stop people from suffering from the White Fang, yet the former terrorist still hurt this person.

"Are we all calm now?" The injured Roland noticed how they all froze. "I don't think this was a great first impression for both of us." He took this opportunity to diffuse the conflict, he didn't want to take any more damage than needed. To seal the deal, he stored his gauntlets away and took off his perception-blocking mask.

The girls took in his facial appearance: white skin, black eyes, and short, black hair. This monochrome man was the definition of an ordinary businessman. He would be someone that you pass by on the street and you wouldn't bat an eye.

"The name's Roland. Former 'kickass' Grade 1 Fixer, Patron Librarian of General Works of the Library, and regular customer at HamHamPangPang." He realized that he was in another world. "I suppose that doesn't mean anything to you four, does it?"

Team RWBY was confused once again. This guy was bleeding out and he has the enthusiasm to crack jokes. They all came to the same conclusion: he was crazy in the head. The blonde brawler was the first to speak: "Uh dude…You're still kinda bleeding over there." She pointed to his still-bleeding arm.

"Hmm, so it seems," he nonchalantly said looking at his wound. "Don't worry about it. I've handled worse. What're your girls' names?"

"Uh, the name's Yang." She went with the flow.

"I-I'm her s-sister, R-Ruby," still distracted by the blood on him.

"Weiss Schnee." The heiress thought about how to get this man into an insane asylum.

"...Blake." Still worried that this guy will die from blood loss.

"ROLAND!" A new voice called out to them.

The owner of the voice was the legendary color fixer in red of the City, now rushing towards them as her long coat was trailing behind her. She was carrying a large greatsword that seem to be made out of flesh, with two giant eyeballs detailing the side of the blade. Alongside her was a blue-haired person in a white coat with a concerned expression on his face. As they ran up to the black fixer, they saw the blood on his right arm.

Meanwhile, Team RWBY was staring at the woman. Ruby, for the first time in her life, was scared of a weapon. Its fleshy nature was disgusting to her. Her partner, Weiss, was in a similar state: there was no grace in such a weapon. Yang just felt how strong these people were, she hadn't felt this outmatched since training with her dad. Blake was… well… scared shitless; she harmed the red woman's friend who looked like she could decimate the team of girls instantly.

"What the hell man!? We leave you alone for a few minutes and you're bleeding all over!" Gebura worried for her wounded co-worker/friend. Then she noticed the group of girls looking at her. She gave the girls a scowl, thinking that they caused Roland's injury. And she was right. They just froze at her gaze.

Roland, sensing more trouble, explained. "I got a little bit into a scuffle with an animal, then I found these gals...This cut on me was from that fight." He had lied to save the girls from the trouble that was Gebura. If anyone was going to fight these girls, it wouldn't be Gebura; because it wouldn't be a fight anymore, just a massacre. "So, where were you guys?"

The red fixer just sighed and pointed a thumb toward her blue companion before putting her weapon away…somewhere. "...This idiot started messing around with me back at the abandoned city. I got mad, then suddenly, a bunch of black bears with large white spikes on their backs started to attack us. After we killed them, they disappeared into a black mist." The tone she said it with was like she still didn't believe it even after seeing it.

Activating his Glove's silencing ability to discuss amongst themselves, Roland picked up on a similar detail related to his story: "Hmm, the animal I fought was a wolf with the same description." He put his good arm's hand to his chin to make a thinking pose.

"Hmm~, this world's biology is very intriguing~." Chesed thought about it. "Animals that don't bleed. Are they natural? Or are they made?"

Gebura, noticing the group of girls near them, turned to Roland. "So, who're your new friends?" She signaled to the group of unknown girls with her head.

"Oh, them." He called out their names as he pointed to them with a thumb. "That's Ruby, Weiss, Blake, and Yang. Just met them after killing the wolf." Satisfied with his answer, Gebura turned back to Chesed followed by Roland.

While the trio of red, black, and blue continued their conversation, Team RWBY had their own discussion not too far away from the adults.

"Hey, Rubes, that Roland guy didn't actually hurt you or anything?" Her yellow sister asked. "I saw him point a gun at you."

Ruby let out an exasperated sigh. "Well, he was about to lower it until you punched him into a tree." Yang chuckled with a little bit of guilt. "And I was telling you that he didn't hurt me. But you didn't hear me."

"It's fine now. That guy and his companions didn't look too worried about his condition." Weiss glanced over toward the 'proclaimed' Patron Librarian. "I suppose we should report this to the Professors."

The R and Y of Team RWBY agreed with that as their team leader took out her scroll. Blake, on the other hand, wasn't feeling all too well; Yang took notice of Blake's brooding. The raven-haired team member was casting downward and avoiding looking at Roland. Yang put a hand on her partner's shoulder to help relieve her from an accident. "Hey, it's not like you wanted to hurt him. Look at the bright side, he's still alive."

"But! He covered for me! He didn't need to." She felt guilty about the entire thing. 'Why? He doesn't know me. Even though I'm a faunus, would he still cover for me?' The questions remained in her mind for the time being, she would question Roland when she has the chance to.

As the co-team leader of the greatest first-year team, Weiss could not let the team look weak. "Come on Blake, he had a reason for doing so. You should take it for granted." The ice queen gave a soft smile at their black teammate while Yang still comforted Blake. It seemed to work as Blake gave a slight smile at the Schnee's words and her partner's actions.

"-ight, we'll tell them about you Professor. See ya!" The red huntress-in-training ended the call. "So, the professors want us to bring Roland and his friends along with us so that Professor Ozpin could talk to them." They didn't know why the professors wanted to talk to these strangers, but they had to follow their teachers' orders. The team walked toward the unmasked man and his two companions.

"-ould ask them if they have a HamHamPangPang?" Roland noticed the four girls walking toward them and turned his body as if to invite them into their conversation. "Yo, done with your little chat?" The other two individuals turned to face the team.

"Um, our headmaster would like a word with you three." Ruby sheepishly stated. "But we have to do a mission first, so you'll have to come with us."

The Patron Librarians didn't mind traveling with the girls as long as it provided information, but the title headmaster implied that they were students of some sort. Out of the three Patrons, the two uneducated fixers stared back at the silver-eyed girl. Back in the City, they never had a formal education; only the Nests were safe enough to have schools. They had been too busy trying to survive than study, especially Gebura who grew up in the dreaded District 23: home to Warp Corp. and the "Eight Chefs". She remembered her time struggling to even read before the Library even came into existence; her literacy only got better when she had the other librarians help her, mainly Hod. Roland was forced to learn how to read when he didn't want to pay other people to tell him what some words said or bother his friends when they were inconvenienced. It also didn't help that Angelica was a scary teacher. He shivered at the thought. He was still unable to actually write, only understanding what words meant when he saw them.

"A headmaster huh." Chesed had vague memories of his time as Daniel in a Nest at a private school. "What kind of education are you girls learning~?"

For the nth time again today, Team RWBY was shocked once again. It was rare to find someone that didn't know about the education of the huntsmen academies. It mainly consisted of Grimm biology, Grimm killing, combat, weapon-smithing, and… the torturous history class, except for Weiss, who actually paid attention to it.

Still seeing the person's curiosity on his face, the red leader explained to the blue man. "We're huntresses-in-training, we're learning to protect the people of Remnant from the Grimm," her voice practically brimming with hope in every word.

'Children this young are training?' Chesed's thoughts quickly popped into his head. His face grew into a slight frown. 'While I remember seeing the occasional young fixer work in such a dangerous occupation, it seems like it followed the Librarians to this world as well.' He continued his thoughts on her explanation. 'Remnant…a word meaning a small remaining portion of something. This Remnant is either a place or this world's name. I'm leaning towards the latter but what is Grimm?'

Chesed opened his mouth to clarify what the Grimm were but another voice spoke before him. "What the hell is the Grimm?" The fixer in black confusingly asked. This single question just devastated the team of girls.

"What do you mean 'What are Grimm?' Do you live under a rock or something?!" The heiress nihilistically yelled. "I knew you weren't right in the head, but this just proved it."

Roland and the other two Patrons were just shocked. They realized it was kinda like asking 'What is the Head?' to someone living in the City. "I uh-, I guess this is the right time to say that we're not from around here?" His voice gave away that they didn't know anything.

The girl in white felt like she was done with life. "Where did you three come from then?" The question just single-handedly stumped them. The Library just appeared in the middle of a forest, they had no way of telling them anything without sounding suspicious.

"Well, you see. We came from a faraway place that we'll probably never see again." Roland came up with the most bullshit answer, but it was true, they would probably never see the City ever again. "We don't know about a lot of things."

Much to the dismay of the team of young huntresses-in-training, they actually didn't know anything. As they walked toward the mission area, they answered as many questions as they could regarding the world they lived in. It must have been a backwater place if they didn't even know what dust or Grimm were.

On the other hand, the Patrons were learning more and more about this world. They hadn't realized that they were actually walking toward the Library because they were still trying to process the amount of information that they learned from these girls.

Huntsmen and Huntresses were individuals that took on random jobs, mainly consisting of hunting Grimm. They were similar to fixers in some way, taking on odd jobs that nobody else wanted to do.

Apparently, the wolf that Roland fought and the bears that Gebura and Chesed killed were Grimm: blackened monsters that resembled animals were soulless creatures hellbent on killing humanity. Furthermore, humanity was split into four kingdoms: Atlas, Mistral, Vacuo, and the kingdom they were in, Vale. Specifically, they were located in the Emerald Forest near a city with the same name as the Kingdom. Each kingdom had its own academy run by its headmasters: Atlas Academy for Atlas, Haven for Mistral, Shade for Vacuo, and Beacon for Vale. The team of girls explained that this Professor Ozpin gave them a mission to investigate something that they didn't pry on due to a habit of fixers to not get caught up in other's work.

Dust was another thing, it had the properties of natural elements but in concentrated form. Everything ran on dust: your car, your phone/scroll, your fridge, and even your bullets used dust. It came in a whole rainbow of colors. Each corresponds to an element: like electricity/lightning dust for yellow dust or fire/burn dust for red dust. It was all very simple to understand.

Then came the question of Aura, apparently the physical manifestation of the soul or something. Every living thing that has a soul, everything will have an Aura. It has a wide variety of uses ranging from force fields to empowering a blade to cut into something. Roland figured out that the black-haired girl was able to harm him through his augmentation due to him not having an Aura and her using Aura on her weapon. Moreover, Aura had another property, the Semblance. In exchange for some Aura, it granted the users some unique power that differed between people; some could wield telekinesis and some could gain insane speed. To the former-City inhabitants, the most simple explanation was that Semblances were like miniature Singularities; it didn't make a whole lotta sense, but if it works, it works.

However, it begged the question: could the Librarians have Aura? After all, they were from another world, they could easily not have access to it. As the group of seven was approaching the team's objective, the Librarians noticed a familiar building coming into view. 'Ah shit, they're here to investigate us…' They thought at the same time.

"We're here!" Ruby's voice called out to them. "Roland, you and your–" She paused. The rest of the group just looked at her, confused as to why she stopped talking. "I just realized. We never even got to ask your friend's names."

While her sister was saddened by the fact that she didn't perform proper social cues, Yang just let out a laugh. "Rubes, there's never a bad time to ask someone for their name!" She smirked before saying. "At least the blue guy and red girl didn't shove a dust manual in your face when you met," Weiss remembered that event and cringed at the memory.

"Gods, I wish you had forgotten about that." The heiress spoke with embarrassment.

"No can do Weiss-Cream," The blonde brawler continued. "At least you 'de-frosted' over time." There was a collection of groans amongst the group of girls as Yang laughed loudly.

The blue-haired man chuckled at the girls' antics. "Well, an introduction is in place I suppose~." He tidied up his attire, which was still Esther's uniform. "Chesed: Patron Librarian of Social Works."

"Gebura: Patron Librarian of Language." The heavily scarred fixer continued next.

For the first time in a while, Blake spoke up. "Those don't sound like colors. No last name?" Her question was responded with a shake of the head from the three of them. "Weird, it's unusual to find people that aren't related to a color. Well, you three are color coded." The blue, red, and black librarians nodded in acceptance.

"You guys all said something about being 'Patron Librarians'? What's that all about?" Yang spoke up after trying to figure out what the title meant. "You work at a library?"

"I guess you can say that," Roland responded as sweat dropped from his forehead.

"Then why do you know how to fight? And why do you have weapons?" Yang was still confused as to why a librarian knew how to fight; even as to overpower a huntress-in-training like her.

Roland felt Gebura bore holes into his head. "W-Well, you see! Back in our place, some evil group of people wanted to get our books by force, so we had to learn how to fight to prevent our books from being stolen." It was a simplified and more innocent explanation of their duties at the Library, but an excuse was needed.

"Speaking of weapons…" Ruby trembled and a shadow downcasted over the top part of her head as she spoke, covering her eyes. It wasn't long until her silver eyes turned into a silver star and jumped at Roland. "Wheredidyougetthoseweapons, I'veneverseenweaponslikeyoursbefore? Wherearetheyaretheypartofyoursemblance? I'veneverseenaswordlikethatbefo–" Yang put a hand over her sister's mouth to prevent her from speaking anymore.

Roland, the victim, was taken aback by her talking speed once again. He looked toward Yang who was still holding a hand over Ruby's mouth, still trying to speak to him about his weapons, although it came out as a muffled sound. "Does she…always talk this fast about weapons?"

The rest of the team just deadpanned, "Yes." They understood. They were victims as well.

Yang let go of Ruby who calmed down after a while, "I'm sorry for speaking so fast! It's a habit that happens when I see weapons!" She held a bit of embarrassment in her voice. "And I didn't get answers when I saw your gun for the first time."

"It's aight," The black fixer remembered when they first met. "It's nice to have hobbies." He had his own hobbies as well: cooking was a relaxing pastime for him. Even though he liked cooking, he would kill for a HamHamPangPang toasted sandwich.

"Well, if you're all done talking. We have a mission to do." The cold voice belonging to the Schnee heiress cut through their conversation. "I would suggest that you three just wait for us here while we investigate." The team of girls took off leaving the Librarians next to a very distinguishable tree.

The Librarians all looked at each other. "So…" The black one started first. "How long till Angela turns us into popcorn machines?" The other two shrugged.

"I'd rather not wait to find out," replied the red-haired fixer. "Let's just tell them the truth, it would make things simpler."

The blue one nodded in agreeance. "Well~, they trust us enough to divulge information to a bunch of outsiders~," he concurred before staring at Roland. "Well, most of them trust us; the black girl, Blake was it? She keeps looking away from you, especially your injured arm~."

"Huh… Thought that she wouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth." He explained. "Yeah, she got me using that Aura of hers. It easily cut through."

"Well~, you kinda deserved it after trying to kill Angela yourself~," Chesed smirked. "The thing that matters now is properly explaining yourself to her~."

Roland just sighed, he wasn't paid enough. "Alright, let's go talk to them." They started to walk toward the Library to find the girls and inform Angela and the rest of the Librarians.

OUTSIDE THE LIBRARY, EMERALD FOREST–

"Wow, it looks even bigger in person." Ruby was like a person visiting Beacon for the first time. "It's probably bigger than Beacon itself."

The raven-haired member looked from the top of the tower toward the bottom, "It looks like a dead tree. What could be important about this?"

"Well, we have to find the 'root' of this problem then." The entire team except for Yang just groaned, while the pun-lover just died laughing.

Weiss who was tired at this point wanted to go to sleep early, "Let's just get this over with. We'll spread out in partners to make this easier."

While the girls silently agreed, Yang was not done with the pun-making, "Alright, Blake and I will 'branch' out here and scope the area." Instead of a groan from all of them, she received multiple slaps to the back of the head to retaliate for her puns. It didn't do much to Yang as her Aura protected her and she moved to circle the tree's surroundings. Blake just sighed and walked to follow her.

This left Ruby and Weiss to investigate the tree itself. They walked toward what looked like a giant door at the base of the tower. As they got to the door, Ruby looked at Weiss, and she looked back. A bit of hesitation entered Ruby's mind, who knew what was lying behind this door? She held out a fist facing the door, she gave the door a good, three loud knocks. They both waited a few seconds for something to happen.

Nothing.

The young huntress-in-training turned to face her partner, even Weiss looked a little peeved. Was this really it? She faced the door and knocked again.

Still nothing.

The heiress had enough of this and tried to open the door herself. Yet the door didn't budge. "URG! We came all the way out here for nothing!?" Weiss was pissed, even more so than when Ruby and she blew up. "The Professors better have a good explanation for this!" She was punching the door to let off some steam.

Suddenly, a voice came out behind the two. "Hey now, that door didn't do anything to you." It was Roland along with Chesed and Gebura. They strolled up next to the duo next to the door.

A confused Ruby and irritated Weiss stared at the black librarian who stood next to them. "I thought we told you to stay at the tree so that we can do our mission." The heiress barked. "Can't I just have a normal day for once?"

"Well little Miss Cold, I'd say we're part of your mission," Gebura said with a serious look on her face.

Ruby, who was still confused, spoke up, "What do you mean?"

Roland walked up next to the huntresses-in-training and scooted the two away from the door. He gave the door a look and raised a fist with the backside facing the door. A simple knock was heard and the door slowly opened.

Weiss's jaw dropped at the sight while Ruby became even more confused. 'Why did the door open for him? Who is he?' The door fully opened to reveal the interior of the tower.

It was brightly lit on the inside, a stark contrast to the exterior of the building. Bell-shaped lamps lit up the dark oak wood that lined the floors with the light glistening off of it. The walls were bookcases that were filled entirely. Wooden pillars with golden accents decorated the place. Multiple staircases that seem to go on forever ran off in different directions. It was a very clean place, considering that this place was inside a dead tree, one would not expect it to be so fancy. However, it was painfully obvious what this place was to the duo of white and red. A Library.

Ruby and Weiss turned around to face the trio of Librarians. Gebura was crossing her arms whilst her eyes were closed in a relaxed manner. Chesed was giving them a slight smile. And Roland was scratching the back of his head as they probably should've told them about this.

A snap was heard inside the tower and the two girls turned around to see what caused the sound.

A very pale woman with short, light blue hair appeared out of nowhere. She was wearing a very dark blue coat, a black and white cravat, a black skirt and leggings, and dark blue heels. A large yellow pendant was placed on her cravat that matched the yellow orbs on her heels. A large book with multiple bookmarks manifested in her arms. She opened her eyes to reveal yellow eyes.

"Greetings dear Guests." She repeated the same introduction she had always told guests in her Library. "I am Angela, the director and librarian of my role's namesake."

Author's Note:

If you're wondering what else is next... I have no idea. I'm just making stuff up on the spot and it's...kinda working I guess.

For the scene regarding the Abandoned Temple, I had to skim through RWBY: Ice Queendom to look at all the buildings because it had more details than in the Original series.

Other than that, I just hope that I actually did well writing fight scenes. I never realized how hard it was to express movement in a concise way.

I have some questions for the readers regarding the plot line of the story:

- Should some of the Guests make an appearance in Remnant? (i.e. The Purple Tear, remember she was still alive in the post-credits cutscene in the pre-patch and can jump between dimensions.)

- Should some nuggets be a part of the story? (Mainly nuggets like BongBong)

- Should abnormalities should be introduced?

If you saw any grammar mistakes or any details that I forgot or missed, please tell me. Anyways, thanks for reading!
