Author Note
Hello there and welcome to another chapter of Cursed Eyes.
It has been a while since I updated this story since I wanted to focus on ending 'Regret'. By the way, I placed a poll on my profile regarding my next work, so please help me decide.
Now, before I proceed with the chapter, here is the answer to some of the reviews from last chapter.
Jose19 – Naruto had forgotten about his parents because of the events that occurred. The foundations I was talking about are his own.
Plums – by the way you say it, you expect that Naruto will become a criminal and all of a sudden turn against Konoha.
Matty the shadow of earth – It is a good idea, but it is not what I have in mind for his Mangenkyou Sharingan. It will be similar to how Sasuke achieved his.
Ok that's about it. Here it goes.
Chapter 20 – Consequences of Truth
Beta: Kyuubi123
Naruto decided that he wanted to be left alone for now as he strolled through the rather empty pathways of the hidden village in the leaves.
His peers and even his girlfriend attempted to get through to him, but it was no use. Kasumi tried but Kakashi stopped her. The man knew that right now there was nothing they could say to help his little brother. Considering the state of mind Naruto was in right now and the recent revelations, it was much better that he tried to work things out on his own. Naruto's eyes were hollow, focusing only on the smoothing colors shown in the sky courtesy of the sundown. His mind, however, focused on replaying today's events.
Six hours earlier
The day of the jounin trails started just like any other, with the exception that this time he was ninety nine percent certain that his team would not be sent on a rescue assignment. One hundred percent certainty just did not exist in his line of profession. Like Genma said two days ago, Naruto was scheduled to report before the Hokage with a written consent from the jounin sponsor. The Hokage was busy stamping some reports when Naruto opened the door. He could see in her eyes that Tsunade's focus was divided between stamping reports and drooling on them.
The jounin hopeful released a sigh in consternation. Here he was attempting to receive a promotion that would aid him greatly and he now had to wake the Hokage up. He needed her to stamp Genma's written consent before submitting it to the ones who would be testing him. Usually Genma was called by the Hokage first for the missions, so when Naruto arrived, the Hokage was already awake. He was at a loss of what to do until he turned to see Shizune enter the room with a new pile of documents. The woman didn't spot the blond chunnin at first and instead focused on the fact that Tsunade was once more on the verge of falling asleep in the middle of her work. She then turned to see Naruto there as well.
"Morning Naruto-kun, what are you doing here?" He greeted the assistant with a smile on his face as he showed Genma's form.
"Today is the day of my jounin trials and I need Tsunade-sama to sign this in order for me to participate. However, I don't know what to do now." Shizune smiled as she saw Naruto looking at the sleeping form of her master. It would inevitably become a hilarious situation if the reason Naruto was not able to pass the exams were that the Hokage fell asleep before she signed the authorization. She placed the pile of documents next to the other ones and looked at her master once more.
"Tsunade-sama, we're out of sake." Naruto looked at the woman as if she was crazy, before the Hokage in question jumped out of her chair in alarm and began rambling.
"It's impossible Shizune…this cannot happen…we need to send word to my supplier in Earth C…ountry" When Tsunade paid attention to her surroundings, she saw Shizune smiling and Naruto looking at her flabbergasted. The Hokage then looked at her assistant promising bloody murder for yet another small prank on her part. Saying that her supply of sake ended was a cheap shot indeed. Imagine what would happen if her enemies found her ultimate weakness. Tsunade wisely decided not to comment on the situation and turned to the other visitor.
"So what can I do for you Naruto?" If possible, Naruto was even more surprised at the sudden change in behavior, but he chose not to dwell on it. The Hokage's temper was public knowledge amongst the shinobi.
"Morning Hokage-sama, today is the day of my jounin exams and I need your signature on Genma-taichou's form. Tsunade nodded with a smile on her face as she grabbed the form and stamped on it. So today was the day little Naruto would become a jounin. As she returned the paper with the instructions and saw him close the doors from her office, she imagined how tough it will be when she revealed the truth about the boy's parents. Tsunade was certain that Naruto will pass the exams. He was stronger than the regular jounin and even the middle-class ones in Konoha. One thing she was counting on, however, was that she would not be telling him alone.
"Shizune, make sure that Jiraiya does not leave Konoha until I say so, you hear me. I need him here for a sensitive subject." The woman looked at her master with curiosity, but nodded nonetheless.
"Sure Tsunade-sama, I'll alert the Anbu." Shizune even doubted it would be enough to keep Jiraiya-sama from leaving, but it was the best she could do.
With Naruto
After leaving the office and opening the scroll with the instructions, Naruto casually walked towards his destination. He needed to reach Training Ground #30 in twenty minutes. The Jounin Commander Nara Shikaku will handle his exam. Naruto immediately found it strange. The Jounin commander was very busy nowadays with many threats looming. Certainly, a small thing such as a single shinobi's jounin exam was not worth being on his agenda. With that thought out of the way, Naruto went through a different point of view. The Jounin Commander was known for his keen mind. No doubt, this test would involve more than simple battle scenarios and even regular mission plans.
It didn't take much longer for him to reach the training ground, which to his eyes at least appeared empty.
However, due to his newfound sensor abilities, he could sense someone leaning behind a thick tree that produced a large shadow on the ground. As Naruto approached the tree, he heard someone snoring and narrowed his eyes. Naruto possessed a bit of knowledge of the Nara clan's laziness, so seeing the jounin commander dozing off in the middle of his exam was not that shocking. Shikamaru did inherit his behavior from his father after all. Still, Naruto stopped walking as soon as he took focus on the shadow made by the tree. He did not know if the test had begun already. He simply acted on the belief that stepping into the shadows next to one of the Nara clan was dangerous. Naruto was startled when he heard Shikaku clear his throat before getting up from his resting place. Naruto still hadn't taken his eyes away from the shadow created by the tree.
"Genma did say that you would not be caught that easily. Most shinobi do not have such foresight. Others would simply wait for me to say when the test begins."
Naruto crossed eyes with Shikaku as he got up from the ground, but stood inside the shadow. Shikaku, for his part, revealed a small smirk as he saw that Naruto maintained a healthy distance from the shadow. The jounin commander needed but a second to look at his examinee from head to toe. Shikaku still remembered fondly of the Naruto genin who became a team with Chouji and Ino. It was already obvious that he would become a chunnin ahead of the other two and that his son Shikamaru would replace Naruto. Still, by being with Naruto for a few months, both Chouji and Ino grew up rapidly. Shikaku found it humorous when Ino beat Shikamaru in their first spar.
"Okay, you received points of understanding your surroundings. Now, as troublesome as it is, we need to carry on with the exam." Naruto nodded as he followed the jounin commander towards a specific area of the training ground. Naruto could spot never-ending rows of trees that managed to block the sunlight from passing through the dense foliage. The chunnin figured that as soon as he entered the forest, he wouldn't need to worry about Shikaku using his shadow once more to trap him. Naruto's wonderings stopped as soon as he heard Shikaku speaking again.
"As you know, when a genin is promoted to chunnin, said shinobi or kunoichi becomes a captain in nature, responsible for leading other genin in missions and even chunnin depending on the mission level. Chunnin isn't so much judged on their physical skills or even jutsu repertoire, but rather the ability of leadership and strategy. Your strength and your speed alone are worthless against an opponent who can devise a suitable strategy against you." As they entered the dense foliage area, the speech continued, though Naruto was immediately on edge. Something was wrong. "A jounin requires the same capabilities of a chunnin, but obviously much more. A jounin is also a leader and a captain. However, the mission rank is higher and a jounin is required to lead only chunnin instead. It is required of a jounin to look underneath appearances and work around it." Naruto immediately sensed two presences hidden, but Shikaku just kept walking as if they were alone.
"It is required of a jounin to face the opposition and decide on a suitable strategy in seconds." This time, Naruto sensed two other presences nearby. Immediately working on the sensor department, he perceived the opposition's chakra capacity and even their nature. He kept walking though, as he could not let them know about his discovery. Hearing Shikaku's speech, Naruto managed to find a single word that the jounin commander repeated.
Strategy.
As he walked, Naruto began to think on a plan of action when Shikaku stopped walking and stopped talking, just as a single beam of sunlight invaded the dense foliage. The Nara clan's trademark shadow manipulation needed but a second to trap the surprised Naruto in place. Shikaku turned to face Naruto with a smirk on his face. The boy was good…too good. As soon as they entered the forest, Shikaku was able to spot immediately how aware Naruto was of his surroundings. However, it seemed that the boy hadn't taken into account that he was also one of the opposition. In the end, the boy needed more experience under his belt. However…
"From your action, I believe that the test has begun, right?"
Shikaku perceived Naruto's change from surprised to focused. Something was not right in this picture.
The man saw the Naruto he captured melt into mud and smirked at the perceptive kid. But, how Naruto knew that Shikaku would be attacking him as well, the jounin did not know. Sending a quick signal to the others, the jounin commander used a shunshin to leave the premises. It was up to the others now to attack Naruto. His task was to test Naruto's awareness and fail him if he was captured by the shadow. Seeing as Naruto managed to escape his grasp, it was now up to the others to test how he fairs against the opposition. Hidden from view, Naruto watched as Shikaku left the area. He could not sense the man anywhere, so he did not need to worry about fighting the commander. Using his sensor capabilities, he was able to anticipate that Shikaku molded chakra for a jutsu. He immediately replaced himself with a mud clone and went underground. He presumed that his next test would be to face the other four enemies and win. He managed to attest that two of the enemies had large chakra capacities, meaning that he would have to be on the lookout for ninjutsu.
The other two had chunnin level capacity, but that did not mean that they were not dangerous. Kakashi had the same amount and he is an A-ranked shinobi.
Now came the tough part that was either flush them out from their hiding spot or wait for them to come. Shikaku did not specify anything, but Naruto presumed that the mission simulation was for him to avoid capture. Shikaku did try to capture him twice with his shadow. Sensing the enemies was only step one and Naruto went back underground once more, moving closer to the ones with large chakra capacities first. Naruto emerged from the ground behind a tree as he spotted a couple of Anbu patrolling the area, probably searching for him. Naruto snorted at the choice of using them for the test. They just did not want Naruto to see their identities and use the knowledge in his favor. Of course, his sensor capabilities were still secret for now. A shinobi would not be one, if he did not have a few hidden tricks that he kept it secret.
Madara's scrolls told him that much.
Seeing a couple traps nearby, he activated his sharingan to memorize their locations. It would not bode well for his record if he failed the test because of a trap. Another subject on his mind was what to do. Even if the mission parameter was to avoid capture, Naruto wonder if there was a side mission objective. With the right choices, he could avoid capture without a problem. His sharingan could alert him to any presence and work around it. Certainly, the jounin commander expected more from him than simply escaping from the Anbu team's grasp. Not being caught is actually one way of finishing the assignment, but there was another way that Naruto considered. If he managed to defeat the Anbu team, then he would guarantee the completion of the mission. Steeling his resolve, Naruto casted a disorienting genjutsu around himself as he approached the first Anbu with caution. If he was to defeat them, then he needed to take the strongest ones out of the equation.
As soon as Naruto reached within striking distance from the first one, he unleashed two shuriken and threw it at the tree on the furthest direction. Like he expected, the first Anbu reacted to the sound of the projectile and moved to investigate. The other one went first, so his back was facing the one Naruto targeted right now. The first one was out like a light as Naruto used the hilt of his sword on the Anbu's neck. The chunnin cursed as the man let out a scream of pain alerting the other one. Naruto saw the hand seal sequence and evaded the water whip that came hoping to capture him. The ninjutsu was casted with such speed that surprised Naruto. It was even faster than Kakashi's hand seals. Naruto did not have time to ponder as another water whip came close to grabbing his leg. His senses warned Naruto that the other two were fast approaching. He needed to end this fight fast. Activating the sharingan, Naruto unleashed a grand fireball at the Anbu opponent, who used a water barrier technique to stop it. The steam however allowed Naruto to use his agility towards the enemy. With consecutive shunshins, he moved closer, taking the fight to close range.
With the doujutsu advantage, Naruto had the superiority in taijutsu and quickly gained the advantage on the opponent.
Another quick genjutsu and Naruto appeared behind the enemy and landed a fierce kick on the enemy's spine. Sending a couple mud bunshins to finish the second Anbu, he quickly lifted an earth barrier to block the rain of projectiles. To this day, Naruto had yet to face this kind of opponent. He heard from his girlfriend how fast and precise Anbu's movements were. One wrong move and the match was finished. Naruto now faced the next two opponents. One of them used a great amount of killing intent. Naruto had already faced many tough situations and thus was not affected by it. Deciding to rely on heavy ninjutsu, Naruto went through a long and fast series of hand seals, gathering chakra inside his lungs.
Katon Kaen no Arashi (Fire Release: Fire Storm Technique)
The flames started swirling around Naruto, lifting to the heavens. The fire tornado went after the two Anbu who effortlessly evaded. Naruto used a quick shunshin with his sword and appeared in front of one of the enemies. The Anbu was surprised but managed to parry the sword strike that was aimed at his neck. Still, the impact was enough to bend his shoulders painfully. Naruto was about to flip and land a strong kick on the stomach when he had to evade a few projectiles, while blocking others with his sword. The two Anbu ganged up on Naruto forcing him to be on the defensive. He evaded the Anbu's tanto and managed to gain some distance to pick up his second sword. He could not lose anyone from his sight, as it was the sharingan's weakness. Still, these guys were not playing around. The fact that they were both Konoha shinobi meant nothing at this point.
One of the Anbu took a step back while the other kept the pressure. Naruto saw the one in the back doing hand seals, before gathering air inside his lungs.
Fuuton Kami Oroshi (Wind Release Godly Wind from the Mountains)
Naruto's sharingan saw the air vortex coming at him and the other Anbu who chose the very last moment to use a shunshin to get out of harm's way. Acting quickly, Naruto used earth chakra to form two arm guards. Placing the arms together in a defensive pattern, Naruto blocked the air vortex, but could not avoid being blown back. The other Anbu took the opportunity and threw a couple of shuriken at Naruto. He managed to parry the projectiles with his swords, but could not avoid the strong kick in the solar plexus. They were all fighting on the trees, so Naruto went flying towards the ground. He flipped fast, while performing hand seals once more, just as he landed on the ground.
Doton Doryuheki (Earth Release: Mud Wall Technique)
One second later the protection wall lifted in front of Naruto. Seconds later, a large water dragon exploded upon contact with the earth wall.
When the earth wall crumbled, however, Naruto was nowhere to be found. The two Anbu moved with great speed to surprise the chunnin, but found no one. Both Anbu quickly turned when they saw multiple fireballs coming at them. The first ones they managed to evade, but Naruto kept on creating the fireballs, overwhelming the opposition. Both got hit by the flames. Although they wore chest armor, the pain of the hit was enough to disorient them, allowing Naruto to shunshin up close and finish the job, sending them to unconsciousness. Naruto briefly had his sharingan active in search for more opposition. Naruto left the area soon afterward and reached the tree that he met with Shikaku before, only to find the man once more hanging out. He was looking at the clouds and Naruto could not help but smile at the sight of the future before him.
He could picture Shikamaru doing the exact same thing when he reaches Shikaku's age.
"I guess that a team of fresh Anbu would not be enough to keep you occupied, but then for one who handled Akasuna no Sasori, you sure took your sweet time dealing with them." Naruto nodded.
"I could not use the most lethal techniques against a fellow shinobi. However, it seemed that they didn't feel the same way." One of them had used a rather nasty suiton technique after all. "Should I be worried about being close to you now or the test is over?" Shikaku blinked once in wonder, before initiating a quiet but continued laughter. The boy was good…real good and Shikaku just didn't throw compliments to anyone. It was truly troublesome to do so. The man decided to humor the kid a bit. The exam was already finished, but he now wished to see just what the kid was capable of. If his assumption is correct, then Naruto still believed that the test was not over.
"Oh…now what would you do now, I wonder? There is no way you could escape my shadow being so close to me and there is plenty of light for me to use."
"Well, if I was the real me, then I would be in great trouble." Shikaku blinked once… 'a bunshin huh interesting'?
"Okay, as of this moment, the exams are over…you can dispel now."
Naruto nodded before transforming into mud just as the original appeared from behind another tree.
"Now what?"
"Now I'll present my notes to the Hokage and she will be the one to give you the results personally. You are to present to the Hokage's Office in three hours." Naruto nodded, before bowing in respect and leaving in a shunshin. Shikaku smirked and left via shunshin. Pretty sure a team of medic-nin was at this very moment attending to the Anbu team that Naruto left in the forest, so his job was almost done for today. Now it was just a matter of forwarding his opinion of Naruto and go home for some sake and relaxation.
At the Hokage's Office
"I appreciate for your time, Shikaku…thanks for your input." Shikaku nodded before leaving the room. Jiraiya was there as well as he turned to Tsunade. He knew the result even before Shikaku presented it. Which despite now putting him in a tough spot, Jiraiya could not help but be immensely proud of the kid for pulling it off like this. According to Shikaku, Naruto managed to take care of a four men squad composed of fresh Anbu in about five minutes. Of course, the kid could have dealt with them much sooner had they been an enemy shinobi, but still it was impressive considering that the team of Anbu were ordered to go for the kill.
"We will tell him then." Jiraiya nodded at Tsunade's simple conclusion. She appeared to be deep in thought about the situation but the jounin exam results were clear. The boy impressed the jounin commander.
"You wish to tell him or should I? Minato was my student and I am his godfather. I should be the one to do it." Tsunade understood the man's need, but she would be remiss if she let Jiraiya take the fall for it.
"You maybe his godfather, but I decided that he shall know the truth from me." Jiraiya looked at her surprised. "As Hokage, it's my duty to take care of my shinobi. I ask them to devote their lives to the mission, the least I can offer is this. In addition, you may have forgotten, but Naruto and I share more in common than you do with him. Uzumaki Mito was my grandmother." Jiraiya nodded with a resigned smile. When she put it like that, then Jiraiya could not argue against it.
"Okay, you tell him…" Both of them were surprised when Naruto knocked on the door, before entering the room. He looked at both sannin and bowed slightly.
"Ah…welcome Naruto…I believe you're here to know about the results of your test." The blond nodded, finding himself quite eager to see the results. Something he realized after the exam ended. Just because he managed to defeat a team of chunnin Anbu does not mean that his choices were what the jounin commander expected. Naruto was indeed in doubt about either engaging the team or simply keep on hiding. If he had judged their skills prematurely, it would mean defeat and utter mission failure. "Briefly summarizing the events, chunnin Uzumaki Naruto, sponsored by jounin Shiranui Genma, participated in the jounin trials ruled by jounin commander Nara Shikaku. Your mission, as later explained by the jounin commander, was to avoid capture from an Anbu team that specialized on heavy assault. I have heard from Shikaku-san, but first I would wish to hear your report, chunnin Uzumaki."
If Naruto was surprised with the sudden professional tone, he did not show it. Then again, he did not know how the entire procedure worked. He answered with the same level of professionalism.
"As commanded, I reached the training ground and met with the jounin commander Nara Shikaku-sama, who appeared to be sleeping under the shade of a tree. Even knowing about his position as an examiner, I proceeded with caution seeing as I knew little about the test to make inaccurate assumptions. Jounin commander, after seeing my resistance in entering his shadow reach, commended me before taking me to the forest when the Anbu team was waiting to ambush me. In there, jounin commander tried to capture me once more and I resorted to a quick earth evasion technique." Stopping for a couple seconds to gather his bearings, Naruto continued while Jiraiya showed a smile at what he heard. Shikaku could have captured Naruto easily with his shadow, but the man was an elite jounin and that would defy the purpose of this being a regular jounin trial. Still, Naruto's foresight was impressive. "Once I saw the jounin commander leave and with the mission parameters now clear, I had to make a choice between facing the opposition head on or keep on hiding until I could find the way out of the forest. The second choice appeared to be full of assumptions, because I did not know much about the situation, so I decided to engage instead."
Tsunade saw fit to intervene with a question.
"You were alone and you decided it was better to engage an Anbu team on your own? What if you were unable to read the situation accurately?" Naruto did know this was bound to happen. He explained it.
"Unfortunately, Shikaku-sama's mission parameters weren't very informative. All I was told was to avoid capture at all costs, but not much else. There were many variables unaccounted for such as the number of enemies; the forest limits and where did I need to go in order to complete the mission. Since none of the Anbu team found me, I figured that I had the advantage, being able to reduce their numbers by half. The first one was dealt with rather quickly. I had casted a quick disorienting genjutsu and appeared behind the first one. The second one however heard when the first one was knocked out, so I had to engage. The other two came soon afterward, so I engaged them soon after dealing with the second opponent. Once I defeated the last member, I returned to the same tree that I met Shikaku-sama earlier. The jounin commander was there and openly declared the end of the jounin trials, although he chose to mess with my head one last time." The last part came out in a low tone, but it did reach the sannin's ears, causing both of them to smile.
"Well, Shikaku-san does get bored at times. Well, I will just up and say it then. Shikaku has given me your approval and so shall I…congratulations Jounin Uzumaki Naruto."
It took a great level of control, but Naruto managed to compose himself enough to simply appreciate the promotion and reach for the scroll in Tsunade's hands that quite possibly contained his jounin vest and the certified authentication of his promotion. It was the same when the boy became a chunnin. As soon as he grabbed the scroll, however, he could see the sudden sour look on Tsunade's face as she stared at him, long and hard. Naruto was immediately on edge as Tsunade released the scroll, allowing him to take full possession of it. He just stood there looking at the village leader, waiting for anything the woman clearly wanted to say.
"Now, seeing as you are a jounin, Naruto, there is something me and Jiraiya here wish to talk to you about. You may sit down for this."
Naruto blinked once, as the somber tone in her voice eluded him still.
"It is about your heritage, Naruto." The now promoted jounin looked at the Hokage in surprise. He remembered the discussion with the fox two days ago about this subject. The blond swallowed hard in anticipation.
Kyuubi was hesitant in disclosing this information. From what he perceived of Jiraiya and Tsunade's facial expressions, both of them shared the fox's concern about not telling him.
Actual timeline
Naruto could not allow himself to stay in front of the Hokage once he heard the truth. It was actually the first time he ever felt this angry before. He felt his blood boil and even his body trembled in fury upon being kept from the truth for so long. He now had the final piece of the puzzle that he started investigating with the fox. The Yondaime Hokage aka his father learned the fuuinjutsu that held the fox at bay from one Uzumaki Kushina aka his mother. The man who was responsible for all of Naruto's sufferings in the past was his own father. Everything that made him what he was, occurred because of the Yondaime. The reason he had ventured into the Uchiha Clan on that fateful day was because not only was he an orphan but also someone no one wanted to adopt because of the fox.
From that part on, Naruto received Uchiha Sasuke's eyes and essentially, became an Uchiha in full blood, from what the fox told him.
The boy was even more pissed, however, because the people that knew about it all along deliberately withheld the truth from him, because in their mind, they wanted to protect him from his parents' enemies. That is precisely why he wanted to avoid speaking to everyone right now. Kakashi and Kasumi-neesan, Genma-taichou, Asuma-sensei and even his girlfriend Itsuko, though he doubted if she knew about it, considering that she had not been a part of his life for long. Though being a part of the Anbu and a rather nosy one at gathering information, Naruto did not doubt that she knew about it. Sure, it was Minato Namikaze, the Yondaime Hokage's last order, that his parents' identities became an S-ranked secret until Naruto passed the jounin exams. Such a valid excuse that Naruto could not help but hate the man even more for it.
Not only did he place the Kyuubi inside him, but also forbade everyone from telling him a simple but much yearned information.
The Yondaime Hokage must have had a way to predict the future, because depending on the circumstances, Naruto could have never passed the genin exams or even the chunnin exams. One of Konoha's shinobi was the same age as the Sandaime Hokage and was still a genin in rank, even if he could defeat any seasoned jounin with ease. Naruto met the eternal genin named Kosuke Maruboshi once when his rescue team was deployed to rescue him from a small army of Iwa-nin. At the time, Naruto remembered that Kosuke kept looking at him with a fond smile on his face, while speaking of the time when he worked under the Yondaime Hokage.
Also how did the Yondaime know that Naruto would become a jounin? And if he knew, how could he anticipate the exact date? The majority of the chunnin in Konoha only got promoted beyond their twenties and that only counts the talented ones. There was a reason that genin and chunnin composed the majority of Konoha's shinobi population. Most were not able to pass the exams and there were also others who did not see the need for it. For some reason, Shikamaru's name came up in his mind as no doubt he would find it too troublesome.
The main question was…why only jounin? The line of thinking started out filled with anger, assuming that his father ruined his life even further. However, Naruto could not help but see something hidden behind all this. All the events that occurred thus far…the obstacles he faced…was it all connected somehow? The now promoted jounin stood in front of the house that belonged to his now revealed mother and father. Also the house in which he was probably born. While Naruto just stood outside, wondering if he should go inside or not, the fox inside his gut was busy contemplating what he had just witnessed.
'I do wonder how he will handle this new development.' Thought Kyuubi as the pictures of another specific Uchiha came in mind.
As to his jailor's sudden epiphany, Kyuubi could not help but release a snort in amusement. The anger near the cage was almost palpable. Kyuubi could feel his own chakra leaking towards Naruto's chakra coils probably for the first time. If Naruto was not able to control himself right there, he would have attacked both Sannin instantly. Despite all of it, as he heard his host rambling about such an unfair situation and then coming up with an answer to everything, the fox couldn't help but be amazed by Naruto's ability to see through the circumstances and formulate patterns. Truth be told, the fox enjoyed how his host's brain worked. Perhaps, the Yondaime Hokage did have another goal in mind aside from simply protecting the village from the fox's harm and that second objective perhaps was conditioned to Naruto gaining more experience and more abilities in order to fulfill it.
'Should I tell him what happened in the Hokage's Office?'
Hokage's Office
Both Jiraiya and Tsunade stood inside the Hokage's office perplexed. Sure, they expected this from the kid. Not only had they revealed his parents' identity, which inexorably allowed Naruto to conclude that it was due to his own father's actions, that the fox was put inside of him, but also they revealed Jiraiya's godfather relationship and even Tsunade as a distant cousin because of their shared grandmother. As such, downright anger was the equivalent response they were expecting. As soon as Naruto had heard the entire thing, his body started trembling in clear fury. How could they…how could everyone withhold that much from him…it was his right to know who his parents were and where did he came from. His eyes were closed shut and his teeth grinded with each other. When the boy opened his eyes, however, both Tsunade and Jiraiya started shivering in deep and irrational fear. It lasted only three seconds at most, but they saw it.
It was not the normal sharingan design.
Instead of the regular three tome, now there were black lines centrifugally aligned along the pupil as the lines spread and converged along the edges of the irises, resulting in three intersecting ellipses that resembled an atom model. The sclera was filled with red veins as tears began to fall. Naruto vanished via shunshin soon after, not being able to control himself now. As soon as he did so, the room heard the noise of another shunshin, no doubt being Itsuko's doing.
With Naruto
Deciding to venture into the house, the now promoted jounin was surprised to look at the front door mirror and see a different pair of sharingan eyes looking back at him. The crow that currently watched him from afar quickly flapped its wings to meet the master summoner and relay him about today's events.
Author Note
Okay, I bet neither of you could have anticipate this, huh.
In the end, however, Naruto awakened his MS the exact way as Sasuke did. If you all recall, Sasuke awakened his after hearing the truth of Itachi's history through Obito. However, unlike Sasuke, I don't plan on Naruto suddenly using the techniques of the MS as if he had known all along about it.
See ya.
