I am honestly really sorry this chapter has taken so long to release, but you all know the usual suspects of have been keeping me busy these past two months. Thankfully I think I've worked out a new schedule that should help speed things along. Just a heads-up though, the next couple of chapters are going to be pretty FN palace cast heavy and its not going to be at least a couple of chapters before we see Kazumi and Azula again.
But don't worry too much about them, I promise that the chapters ahead are going to be just an interesting and when we do see the dynamic Spirit Navigating duo again, I already have a very fun arc set up for them that I think you all will enjoy. It has everything you could want in an arc: Death, self-discovery, arguing and a lot of hugs.
:)
To not waste anymore time, let's get right into the chapter!
In all his years, Zuko thought he knew anger. He had experienced it a lot as a kid and as a teenager, not exactly the most healthy emotion to have now that he thinks about it. He likes to think that he's gotten a better handle on his anger in recent years and have buried most of his anger since becoming Fire Lord. That didn't mean he didn't get angry from time to time whenever something angered him, but it was usually pretty tame compared to the anger he used to feel back then.
But this...this was a new level of anger that left him feeling like a erupting volcano.
He watched as the guards placed a sheet over the badly burnt bodies of Piandou and Fat. Zuko could feel his stomach twist in a mixture of sorrow and horrified disgust at the badly burnt bodies of his former master, he had seen some bad burns before in his life, experienced some himself from his own father. But the burns he saw on Piandou's and Fat's body were by far the worst he had ever seen before in his life.
Their skin had turned charred black, their faces had been so disfigured and melted by the fire to the point where Zuko couldn't even recognize his master's face and Agni above, Zuko could still smell their burnt flesh.
It took everything Zuko had not to throw up at the sight of Piandou's burnt dead body. Piandou had been his teacher, his swordmaster, he remembered the days he spent training in Piandou's home, honing his skill with the blade. It was one of the few things he could say that he was better than Azula at, with Piandou being a great and understanding teacher to him the whole way.
Now Piandou was nothing more than a corpse. One that has been burnt so badly that Zuko can't even recognize his face anymore.
" My lord...my lord, are you okay?" Zuko snapped out of his stupor when he realized that one of his captain's was talking to him. The captain had an expression of concern for him." My lord, are you alright?"
" I'm..." Not okay at all you idiot. Zuko wanted to snap at the captain for asking such a stupid question. How does he think he feels after seeing the dead body of his former swordmaster?
By some miracle, Zuko holds his tongue and keeps his tone somewhat even." I'm fine captain. Keep the area around the estate covered " That was all he said before he walked away, not able to stare at the dead body of his former swordmaster any longer.
Zuko went back inside the house of Piandou, just wanting to get away from the prying eyes of his guards who he couldn't even figure out who to trust.
When Zuko first got word that something had happened to Piandou, he hadn't wasted a moment getting on the nearest air balloon and heading for Piandou's estate. He had hoped that it wasn't true, that this was all merely a bad joke being played at his expense.
But it wasn't a joke. It was all very real. Piandou was dead. Gone from this world forever.
He walked slowly through the halls of Piandou's former estate slowly, moving through the estate without paying much attention to where he was really going. Zuko thought he had gotten used to feeling this kind of loss. But with the sorrow he feels, it is clear that he hasn't. How long ago had Azula's funeral been? He's not even sure anymore, how many people are going to die because of his inadequacies?
He didn't even realize he had wandered into what looked to be one of the private indoor training rooms that was built in case there was heavy rain. Piandou had always been the kind of man who could never bring himself to skip daily training even if his skills as a swordsman were far beyond most benders. Zuko can still remember the days of Piandou's lectures, teachings and sessions where he would try to drill his advice into Zuko's mind. Looking back on his memories, he had never really cared much to listen to most of Piandou's wisdom as he was far more interested in the swordplay than any advice Piandou gave him.
Now the Fire Lord feels nothing but regret for not paying more attention.
Zuko wandered over to the weapons rack of the training room, there were all kinds of weapons there. Bows, axes, katanas but the pair that caught his eye was the one that he had trained personally with. He picked up a pair of dao blades and half-heartedly gave them a few test swings, the weight and swing of the blades feeling familiar to him but the lessons from Piandou feeling more like a faint memory.
The Fire Lord looked at the pair of dao blades in his hands and seethed in anger at himself. He should have been here. He should have been able to prevent this from happening. Why does this keep happening?
" Thought I'd find you here " A voice interrupted his self-loathing thoughts, as Zuko turned to see Mai enter the training room.
Zuko turned his gaze away from her, unable to meet her eyes. " Where's Suki?" Zuko asked in a low tone.
" She and the Kyoshi Warriors are canvassing the area, trying to find clues on what happened." Mai said as she approached the Fire Lord." Are you okay?"
Zuko couldn't help but grip the dao blades in his hands in anger, is he okay? How the hell can he be okay? How is he expected to feel when he found out that his former teacher was burnt to a crisp, where his face is so badly burnt and melted that Zuko couldn't even recognize it? That for all his power and position as the Fire Lord he couldn't do a damn thing to stop this from happening. How does Mai thinks he feels about all this?
He resisted the urge to scream and shout at Mai, knowing that she only means well. Zuko instead chose to be silent as he looked at the dao blades in his hands and felt the anger bubble up inside him like a waking volcano.
" Zuko?" Mai quietly spoke up, her usual monotone voice now laced with concern and sympathy. A rare thing for Mai to show to anyone.
The Fire Lord was quiet for a moment...right before he whirled around and threw his dao blades at the wooden targets in the room, the damn useless things unable to even make it halfway because they weren't throwing knives and just fell to the floor with a metallic clatter. But that only just served to add to Zuko's anger that he couldn't even do that right.
" RRRAAAAHHHHHHH!" Zuko shouted like an animal as he just started burning the random wooden targets without a care in the world. He lashed out at the wooden targets, imagining his father's stupid smirk on each of them as they were all burned to cinders as he unleashed everything he had at the targets, only growing more angry at the fact that they weren't the real thing.
He didn't care how much he was overexerting himself with each blast of flame, how his flame was getting weaker due to him not breathing properly, how he probably looked like a goddamn child throwing a temper tantrum instead of the immaculate Fire Lord he's supposed to be, but he did not care. Not today. Not after what he saw was done to Piandou. What he couldn't prevent.
At some point, he gave up burning them and resorted to hitting the wooden dummies with his fist. He felt the pain grow with each punch on his knuckles against the hard wood, but he didn't care even as his knuckles turn red and blood started to drip from them.
" Zuko! Zuko stop!" He could hear Mai's voice behind him, but he ignored it. Pretending that if punching this dummy until his knuckles bled would fix anything.
" ZUKO! Stop it!" This time Zuko felt Mai pull on his arms and he had grown too weak from the pain to resist it. Mai pulled him back and turned him around to make him look at her concerned face." Zuko please calm down! I get that you're angry but this isn't going to fix anything-"
" Well what is Mai?!" Zuko couldn't help but shout at her, making her recoil in surprise." I mean look around! Ozai's on the loose gathering support against me by the day! We can't trust anybody at the palace! I'm a few months away from being deposed and Piandou's dead! So what else can we possibly to do fix this!?"
Mai was silent, her eyes looked like she wanted to say something...but she didn't really know what to say.
Zuko looked around the room, seeing the destruction he had caused with several wooden statues burnt to cinders as he felt a pulse of pain on his on hands. Looking down at his fists he could see blood starting to drip from his knuckles from furiously punching hard wood.
" Piandou was...is my mentor. He trained me, taught me how to use my dao blades and he's just-" Zuko vented as memories of Piandou's burnt face flashed through his mind, filling him with anger once more." WHAT IS THE POINT OF BEING FIRE LORD IF I CAN'T SAVE ANYONE!?"
By this point, Zuko could feel his eyes sting as a few stray tears fell from them in sorrow over his fallen mentor and he could feel Mai's arms wrap around, pulling him into an embrace. Zuko leaned into the embrace as he mourned his fallen mentor and let his emotions out as he cried into Mai's shoulder.
They stayed like that for a while, just sitting on the floor in silence. Mai didn't say a word throughout the whole affair, she didn't need to...or maybe she didn't know what to say really. It didn't matter, Zuko preferred the silence over any hollow comforting words.
After maybe a few minutes of sitting on the floor, Mai gently pulled away from the embrace and looked into Zuko's eyes with a mix of concern and sympathy.
" Zuko...I think you should wait outside" Mai said in an unnaturally gentle voice.
" No" Zuko softly replied." I need to be here and-"
" Yes, you need to be here for your mentor but you don't need to deal with this investigation" Mai refuted as gently as she could." You shouldn't have to see this Zuko..."
The distraught Fire Lord looked at his girlfriend for a few moments, not saying a single word as he pondered everything that he was feeling and what Mai wanted him to do. Zuko wanted to refute her. To tell her that he was the Fire Lord and that this way his duty. To be angry at the fact that he was being treated like an out of control kid who couldn't handle this kind of work or loss...but after everything he just let out, he feels too damn tired to be angry.
Without a word, Zuko stood up and left the private training room, keeping his head down the whole way not like a Fire Lord should look. A Fire Lord should hold his head up proudly and stand up straight in a way that emits an aura of power that showcases the might of the royal family. To show that the leader of the Fire Nation would be unwavering in the face of any challenge thrown their way and would be someone that would lead their nation to glory.
Yet Zuko doesn't feel like he can do any of that now. He doesn't feel like a Fire Lord...he just feels like a boy who just lost someone important to him.
He hopes keeping his head down was enough to keep the guards from realizing that he had been crying.
Mai let out sigh as she watched Zuko leave the private training room and head outside. She didn't know Piandou that well or what kind of relationship he had with Zuko, but she already knew that he wasn't going to take Piandou's death very well and she honestly couldn't blame him. The news of the swordmasters death had caught them all by surprise, Zuko didn't want to believe it was true until he saw the body for himself. Maybe it would have been better if he didn't see it.
The knife thrower looked at the trashed state of the training room and couldn't help but feel relieved that at least he let out his anger out of sight from the guards. She couldn't blame him for lashing out like that after seeing the swordmaster's body.
Mai was no stranger to seeing gore or gruesome injuries like intense burns, but even what happened to Piandou and his assistant was enough to make her stomach churn. Back then, she thought Zuko's burn was by far the worst injury she had ever witnessed until she saw the deceased swordmaster's body today burnt to a crisp to the point his own face unrecognizable, she could feel her stomach at what it looked like-
She stopped herself before she got too deep into her own head. Mai shook her head and focused on the task at hand, she needed to keep her head to find out what in Agni's name happened here. She left the private training room and shut the door behind her to go find a certain Kyoshi Warrior, hoping that she had turned up something while investigating the area.
It didn't take her long to find the Kyoshi Warrior captain on account of the Kyoshi Warriors incredibly noticeable green outfits standing out among the Fire Nation distinct red uniforms. Suki was in the courtyard where Piandou had died. Mai couldn't help but take notice to all the dirty looks and glances the Kyoshi Warriors were getting from the guards around them, she knew that having foreigners from the Earth Kingdom serve as part of the Fire Lord's personal protection was unpopular decision but one that was needed as they still didn't know who they could really trust at this point. The last thing they need are the guards turning on Zuko at the flip of a coin.
Suki seemed to be in the middle of talking to some of her Kyoshi Warriors when Mai walked up to her, noticing the knife-throwers presence before she got there.
" Mai, I was wondering where you and Zuko were " Suki said with a soft look as she approached.
" Yeah, had to help Zuko out just now " Mai said vaguely, but from the way Suki's eyes showed sympathy it was enough for her to get the message of what had happened.
" I see...how he's taking it?" Suki asked and Mai felt a twinge of annoyance rise up to the surface. How does Suki thinks he feels after what he just saw today?
" His former mentor's face got melted off to the point he can't recognize it and he just tore up one of the private training rooms in a rage, how do you think he's taking it?" Mai couldn't help but reply sarcastically.
" Sorry stupid question " Suki looked apologetic rather than offended at the sarcastic remark.
" Whatever, what did you find Suki?" Mai asked, hoping they had found something that could lead the killer.
Unfortunately, the grim look on the Kyoshi Warrior's face did not inspire confidence in Mai as Suki spoke." Sorry to say Mai, but my girls haven't found anything that could lead us to a killer or clues on who was behind this "
" You're telling that you didn't find anything that tells us who did this?" Mai said, letting a bit of her frustration slip into her voice.
" I don't know what you want me to tell you, besides a broken window we found, there was no other traces of anybody here or any clues that point to anyone in particular " Suki defended." Its not like whoever did this left a calling card telling us who they were "
Mai rolled her eyes, but knew she couldn't argue with that. She internally groaned at the lack of clues or evidence, she did not want to go back to Zuko saying they found basically nothing that pointed them to who did this to Piandou.
The knife-thrower took a moment to calm herself down before she got ahead of herself. Maybe she needs to look at this from a different angle?
She turned her attention to the site where Piandou died along with his assistant Fat. The bodies had thankfully been covered up by a sheet but Mai could still smell their burnt bodies as she got closer with Suki walking next to her. She needed to get as much information as possible if she wants to figure out what happened.
" Alright, let's just assess what we already know. Are you certain that this is where Piandou was killed?" Mai asked Suki who nodded.
" Positive. We didn't find any other evidence on the estate of where a fight happened, this is definitely where they both died " Suki said with certainty." Whoever did this certainly knew what they were doing when they took down Piandou"
What Suki said gave Mai pause as she pondered the facts of the case.
It was clear that whoever did this was an expert if they were capable of not leaving any trace of their existence here. But that made Mai ask another very important question that she hadn't thought of in this murder: Who did kill Piandou?
Mai had never met the man personally before, but she knew him by both reputation among the court and from what Zuko spoke about him. He was hailed as the best swordsman the Fire Nation had, being capable of taking down 10 elite firebenders on his own with nothing but his blade in hand, a remarkable feat for a non-bender in all honesty. So that begged the question of who was capable of killing him? Sure, she was willing to bet that there were a few firebenders or perhaps even other swordmasters capable of taking down Piandou, but who would have the motivation to do something like this?
Mai looked at the area around the arena where the fight between Piandou and his killer took place, there were burn and scorch marks all over the ground indicating that whoever the killer was, had to have been a powerful firebender. But what caught Mai's eye the most was what wasn't there on the ground.
" There's no blood..." Mai muttered out of the blue, surprising Suki.
" What?" Suki questioned.
" Look, there's no blood on the ground." Mai pointed out as she explained what she just figured out." If there was some kind of big fight between Piandou and his attacker, you would expect Piandou to have gotten at least a few good hits in but there is not a single drop of dried blood on the ground."
Suki's eyes widened as she noticed the exact same thing." You're right how didn't I notice that before?" Mai considered the possibility of the killer cleaning up after the fight, but she figured that if they were badly injured than they would have more pressing matters than thinking about cleaning. Cleaning blood off stone is a lot harder as it would leave a stain.
" Which means that we're either dealing with a person who is really good at cleaning up blood...or the killer is somebody who is a very skilled firebender capable of taking down a master like Piandou " Mai was sincerely hoping it wasn't the latter, but with their luck recently she can't say she's holding out hope.
" Yeah, but who would do this?" Suki asked out loud.
" We're not going to learn it standing here, come on let's head back to the palace " Mai said definitively.
" What-We're heading back already?"
" You said it yourself that your girls already searched the whole area and found nothing, no point staying here then..." Mai said as a flash of sympathy passed her face." And I don't think Zuko can't stand to be here anymore "
Suki's expression changed to one of understanding, it was clear that she wanted to spend more time searching the area hoping to find some kind of clue so they didn't have to go back to Zuko with mere conjecture and theories on what had happened here. But Mai was willing to bet that whoever did this didn't leave any evidence behind, so no point wasting any further time here.
There was nothing left for them here.
To say the atmosphere in the Fire Nation palace meeting room was somber would be the biggest understatement Mai had ever heard in her life and that would be saying something.
Zuko was slumped in his chair at the table with his hand covering his eyes as he leaned on the table, on any other day Mai would make a comment about him needing to keep up his posture and appearance but not today. Suki sits completely silent at the table as she looks at Zuko with concern in her eyes, Ty Lee is doing the same thing but based on the quiver of her lips, it clear that Piandou's death affected her as well. Even if she didn't personally know him, she likely shared in Zuko's grief for his loss. Mai sat at the table with her arms crossed, the tone of the room overall being quite depressing as nobody seemed to want to speak first.
About a minute passed of unadulterated silence in the room with only the sound of breathing or the footsteps of guards from right outside the room. Mai was starting to wonder who would speak first and break the silence.
To her surprise, it was Zuko who found his voice first and spoke up. " Please tell me you found something" Zuko's voice sounded a mix of tired, angry and sad at the same time." Anything that could lead to Piandou's murderer"
Mai felt her heart clench at how desperate Zuko's voice sounded, like he was grasping on to any hope that he could right this wrong.
" My Kyoshi Warriors and I searched the entire estate from top to bottom to see if we could find any evidence that would lead to Piandou's killer but aside from a broken window, we didn't find anything concrete" Suki spoke up with a sigh. Clearly frustrated as well that they didn't find anything that could help them.
Zuko pressed his hand to his face as he rubbed his forehead, Mai could hear him let out a breath of frustration and she noticed him clutching the table extra hard. She couldn't deny that she was a little worried if he was going to lash out again at the environment which would not be a pretty sight for Suki or Ty Lee to watch.
" We didn't find any evidence exactly, but from what we know we can deduce a few things about the case" Mai said, partly so they can at least say that they didn't have nothing. Even if it is just educated guesses and deductions.
" Such as?" Zuko asked.
" We know that whoever killed Piandou was likely a master firebender. We didn't find any traces of blood at the scene of his death, which implies that whoever did the deed either cleaned up afterwards or was skilled enough that Piandou was unable to land a single hit on them. " Mai said unevenly, the idea of going up against somehow who was so good that even a skilled swordsman like Piandou couldn't land a hit. The worried looks on Ty Lee, Suki and even Zuko's face showed that they felt the same way. " This narrows the list down to potential firebenders who are skilled enough to go up against Piandou"
" So we're looking for master firebenders who are so, so good that Piandou wouldn't even be able to hit them?" Ty Lee put the question out there.
Zuko seemed to think about it for a moment before speaking up. " I can think of a few elite firebenders in the nation that could stand a chance against Piandou, but not so skilled that they could take him down without suffering a single hit. No, that's something only master firebenders could be capable of pulling off with a lot of luck " Zuko put his hand to his chin in thought. " The only master firebenders I can think of who could do this are my uncle, Jeong Jeong...and my father before he lost his bending"
" Not exactly a long list of people who can do it, but few who would have motive " Mai pondered out loud.
" That's the other thing though, who would want Piandou dead?" Ty Lee asked.
That's a good question and one Mai hadn't considered yet in this investigation: Motive.
Piandou didn't have any political enemies that she knew of, as he was the best swordmaster in the nation many noble families would send their children to train under him. She heard some grumbling in the noble circles about his high standards and strict regiment of training, but she doubts any noble family would be stupid enough to assassinate him with Piandou being a previous instructor of the current Fire Lord. So that rules out political assassination, whoever did the deed was obviously hired by somebody powerful and with a grudge against Piandou...or one of his former students.
Mai's eyes widened as she looked over at Suki and Zuko, who had similar expressions as they came to the same realization that she did.
" Ozai was behind this."
Suki's words were blunt and sudden, but it was needed to get it out in the open for what they were all thinking. Ty Lee looked surprised since it seems she hadn't yet come to the same conclusion as they did, but she seemed to catch up quickly if her widened eyes were any indication.
" Its the only thing that makes sense, he's the only person with the ability to order Piandou's death and we know he would never pass up an opportunity to hurt Zuko in any way " Suki said lowly.
Mai noticed a flinch from Zuko who was hiding his face behind his hand, it was clear that he is feeling a mixture of anger and sorrow for good reason. The idea that Piandou was only killed just to spite Zuko hurts him deeply. The fact that Ozai would be so petty to have Zuko's former swordmaster killed just to make him suffer, but from what she has heard about Ozai, it is definitely something he would do.
" But why would he do this? What does targeting Piandou get him?" Ty Lee asked out loud.
" Does it matter?" Zuko answered Ty Lee's question with a frustrated tone." I mean, does it really matter what Ozai's motive for killing Piandou is? Whether it was just to spite me or if it had some kind of grand scheme that we still can't see behind it, Piandou is still dead. And Ozai is the one who had him killed, he needs to be stopped somehow. He can't get away with this, he can't... "
The knife-thrower couldn't help but feel growing concern for Zuko, he clearly isn't thinking straight after losing his former swordmaster and learning that his power hungry father is likely behind it. Mai didn't want to admit it but with him feeling a mixture of anger, sorrow and internalized guilt over Piandou's death, whatever action he's about to take, Mai has a feeling she's not going to like it.
" Zuko...what do you intend to do?" Suki asked concernedly.
" Its time we stopped playing around and started taking this seriously."
Jiang let out a breath as he walked down the pier of the dock and felt the cold nightly air hit his chiseled face. Many people around the world assume that the Fire Nation is a naturally hot climate which isn't completely untrue, but people are often ignorant to how cold the nights could be. The pier itself was dead quiet with the only noticeable sounds the creaking of the wooden boards he walked on as he passed, and the mechanical whirring of the Fire Nation ship stationed by the pier. At the end of the pier, he could see a small group waiting for his arrival.
" Jiang, it has been too long since we last spoke face to face." The head of the group greeted him with a dangerous smirk, dressed in regal robes befitting royalty. For a man who had been prison for the better part of a year, Fire Lord Ozai looks quite good all things considered.
" My lord... you sent for me" Jiang bowed respectfully to his superior, and as a show of loyalty.
" Yes, I wanted to discuss with you before my departure, I trust that it was no trouble?"
" No trouble at all my lord " Jiang nodded. Admittedly he was tired from the long day of work, but years of doing this job and trudging through long nights of paperwork had taught him how to stay awake even in his old age.
" Good, I trust that you have already heard about Piandou's death?" Ozai asked.
" Yes, I have." Jiang had actually been one of the first people to learn about the swordmaster's death, alongside the current Fire Lord Zuko. It was certainly shocking to learn that one of the greatest swordmasters the Fire Nation has seen in a generation had been murdered in his own home. Jiang had a sneaking suspicion who had done it, but he needed to confirm it himself. " Forgive me for being blunt, but was that you doing my lord?"
" Who else could have done it? I'll admit that it has taken me longer than I would have liked to reattain my previous level of skill with my flame and gifts..." Ozai smiled as he conjured up a black flame in front of Ozai." But it was well worth it "
Jiang was amazed to see that Ozai had in fact gained his fire back, he had heard the rumors along the grapevine of their group that their lord had managed to gain his fire back but he wasn't sure he could have believed it until he saw it in person. Jiang could not help but feel something...ominous about his black fire, as if there was something impure about it, but he shrugged it off for now.
" Tell me Jiang, how is my foolish son handling the death of his pitiful swordmaster?" Ozai said callously as he looked out over the water.
" Not well, I heard he is rather distraught and not thinking in the best of minds at the moment." Jiang said as he thought back to the grim look on Zuko's face when he returned from Piandou's estate. " I suspect he's going to increase his efforts in finding and capturing you once more "
" Well then, it is fortunate that I will be away for the time being." Ozai said with a smirk as he looked at the Fire Nation ship waiting for him." The rest of my idiotic brother's little group are in the Earth Kingdom, I have already established contact with some of our spies there so I should not be gone for long."
" Excellent my lord..." Jiang said, in a well practiced tone of subservience. One that he has spent decades honing.
" Which brings me to you Jiang." Ozai clasped his hands behind his back as he looked at him directly." While I am away I want you to do everything in your power to undermine my son's rule. Discredit him, make up lies, exaggerate stories. Quite frankly, I care not for the method just that you do everything possible to sow the seeds of doubt in his reign."
Jiang was a bit surprised by his lord's decision to choose him to head undermining Zuko's rule, but after a moment of thought it made sense. He had been the one with the closest proximity to Zuko all this time, which made him the perfect candidate to spread rumors and stories to undermine his rule.
" I trust this will not be a problem for you?"
" Oh, that will not be a problem at all my liege..." Jiang said as he already came up with numerous tactics in his head. " In fact, I already have quite a few ideas for bringing down your traitorous son."
Hope you all enjoyed the chapter, this one was really rough on Zuko and I hope that I was able to show his pure unadulterated anger/sorrow about the situation as a whole regarding Piandou. I'll be honest, I don't really remember much about Zuko's relationship with Piandou in the show, but I like to think the two had a sort mentor-student relationship and Zuko genuinely cared about the old swordmaster. Which is why he went absolutely burn everything mode in the training room in this chapter, just to really hammer it home how hard he was taking it.
I hoped that I managed to communicate that Zuko wasn't throwing a tantrum and was more akin to letting out all his built up anger and sorrow in the training room. But still managed to keep it the right level of sad and depressing.
I am so happy that we're finally getting into the real beef of the story with Ozai making his move on the White Lotus, things heating up in the Fire Nation and the nation hanging precariously over the edge. Next chapter we're going to get to see what exactly some of Zuko's new orders for hunting down Ozai are and what Jiang has in mind for bringing down Zuko.
Mild spoilers: It is not pretty in any way.
With that said, I will see you all in the next one.
Angel Out.
