The next evening, Kim and Jay were back in their truck, the atmosphere between them light and playful.

Jay was trying to find a shortcut through the city streets, his eyes scanning the road ahead.

"You should've taken the left back there," Kim teased, a smirk playing on her lips.

Jay glanced at her, grinning. "Oh, really? And miss out on this adventure?"

Just then, the truck hit the curb with a jolt. Kim couldn't help but laugh. "You hit the curb, but you're adorable."

Jay raised an eyebrow, unsure if it was an insult or a compliment. "Not sure how to take that."

Kim leaned in, kissing him softly. "How's that for a compliment?"

Jay chuckled, his eyes twinkling. "You kinda just phoned it in."

Kim wrinkled her nose playfully and kissed him again, this time with more passion.

Jay used one hand to push through her brown hair, deepening the kiss.

They stayed like that, lost in each other, until it was time to clock in.

As they finally pulled away, both of them breathless, Jay smiled. "Guess we should get to work."

Kim nodded, her eyes still sparkling. "Yeah, but this is definitely the best part of my day."

Kim and Jay walked into the breakroom, Jay shaking his head with a grin. "This is a total Ruzek move, right?"

Kim nodded, laughing softly. "Absolutely."

Jay squinted at the bright light, wincing. "Do you have any pills for this headache?"

Kim nodded, pointing towards her desk. "In my drawer."

Jay walked out, covering his eyes with one hand.

Kim rested a hand on his lower back, guiding him gently. As they reached their desks, the rest of the unit smirked and made comments.

"Look who's back," Vanessa teased, a playful glint in her eyes.

"Feeling better, Jay?" Kevin asked, his tone light.

Jay managed a smile, grateful for their support. "Yeah, just need to get rid of this headache."

Kim handed him the pills, giving him a reassuring pat on the back. "You'll be fine. We've got your back."

Voight walked out of his office, addressing the team. "Just paperwork today, folks."

Jay, exhausted from the previous night's events, had dozed off at his desk.

The rest of the unit noticed and began to chuckle and make comments.

Voight, with a mischievous glint in his eye, grabbed his megaphone and walked over to Jay. "Rise and shine, Halstead!"

Startled, Jay jolted awake and blurted out, "I love you!" His eyes widened as he realized what he had said.

Kim blushed, trying to hide her smile, while the rest of the unit smirked and teased.

"Looks like someone had a good dream," Kevin quipped.

"Yeah, Jay, tell us more," Adam added with a grin.

Jay rubbed his eyes, trying to play it cool. "Alright, alright. Let's get to work."

Kim gave him a reassuring pat on the back, her eyes twinkling with amusement. "Don't worry, Jay. We all love you too."

Later, Jay placed on his sunglasses to shield his eyes from the bright lights.

The unit couldn't help but comment.

"Nice shades, Halstead," Adam teased, a grin spreading across his face.

"Trying to look cool or just hiding from the light?" Vanessa added with a smirk.

Jay chuckled, taking it all in stride. "A little bit of both."

Kim smiled, giving him a playful nudge. "You pull it off, Jay."

Later, Kim walked into the locker room, finding Jay changing his shirt, which was unfortunately covered in puke.

She couldn't help but smile at the sight of him struggling with the mess.

Without a word, she wrapped her arms around him from behind, resting her head on his shoulder. "Honey, you really know how to make an impression," she teased gently.

Jay chuckled, feeling comforted by her embrace. "Yeah, not exactly my finest moment."

Kim squeezed him a little tighter. "It's okay. We'll get through this together."

The unit was on a stakeout, focused on catching Roy Walton.

Adam Ruzek was in his car alone, keeping a close watch. He radioed in, "No sign of him yet," and took a sip of his coffee.

Suddenly, Kent walked up to his window and made a comment.

Adam turned to look, but before he could react, he was knocked out, his head hitting the dashboard.

Kent yanked him out of the car, stepping on his stomach and dragging him away.

Adam regained consciousness briefly, struggling to pull away. "No! Help me!" he screamed, but Kent knocked him out again, dragging him towards a vehicle.

As they drove off, Adam's gun, badge, and radio were left on the cold ground, a stark reminder of the danger he was in.
