Chapter 1: Prologue
Scribbles of a pen can be seen, holding it fairly around its edges by a fair skinned hand, gliding across a leaf of a certain red velvet diary. If one could closely decide to take a look, the knuckles and the lines of the hand has undergone its changes with time, although the human who owns it, looks quite the opposite. The human visage designed with a sharp edged face lining with a strong jaw that has not failed to attract its fair share of opposite gender or some of the same ones along with it.
Covering the head were long thick purple lock and small tresses falling relentlessly on his forehead annoying him to its content, where he tightened it and made a small bun behind the nape of his neck accompanying the thick eyebrows that lined a frown accompanying his black steely eyes, making him concentrating on his supposed writing without any supplementary thoughts or any added noises to disturb his line of thought. Around him, were filled with many belongings lined from huge book shelf covered with various books, papers of famous Pokémon researchers, Pokémon trainers that carved their names on a famous plate that are of Pokémon masters, champions, elites, frontier brains, breeders, and even coordinators, the legends of the Pokémon origin and so on. Next to the shelf, that outstood the most in the room was a specific wardrobe, where all the achievements of the habitant can be seen standing in its full glory through the glass door. Starting from the huge golden trophies that varies in different designs based on its tournament and its particular region and to go along with it lays the different medals of gold, silver and even bronze as well. The shine that radiates off them are the first thing that catches its eye of anyone who ever steps in this room, though only few people gets to step foot in this particular room with the permission of the room's owner.
But this is only the segment that covers the bottom section. On the upper section, laying on the counter were the most attractive sight containing beautiful photo frames narrating his Pokémon journey from the beginning to its bittersweet end, and tagging along could distinguish his different Pokémons that he regards them as his best companions situated from different regions though once he regarded them more as a burden but eventually mend his ways and can also be seen some Pokémon trainers he had met and even got inspired from few of them and full dedicated in his journey. He is pleased to still believe that he has them by his side every time if he ever calls in need of help, even though he feels uncertain about all of them.
Quick tapping of the footsteps could be heard across the huge hallway and it was clearly indicating that the figure was marching towards this room where the purple haired guy closed his eyes momentarily and let out a huge breath closing his diary with a flap. He knew very well, with this person that still holds to make an entrance, inside his room would be too effortless to finish his pending work.
With on cue, the doorknob rotates and opened with a loud creak making the newcomer's presence known while it stepped foot into the room without any hesitation. The purple haired guy turned himself around in his chair and sees the other person with his black steely eyes that can intimidate anyone that dares to come near him or coax him but has different case with the ones that knows him well or is a family member of sort. The other person was of short height making himself twice as short than the older habitant present in the room. The young guy made his small young hand up towards his boyish face that still is in preceding stage, to rub his dark sapphire eyes that are being half lidded quoting its tired form and desire for his bed very soon, but not before he fills his hungry stomach.
He asked with a dazed voice, "Aren't you done yet?"
The man's eyes softened a bit by seeing the boy's antics and his too cute of an expression especially his eyes that can make way through anyone's heart and can even form a truce among the counter parties.
He said with a sheepish look, "I was actually done and about to go downstairs ...but you cannot stop that little feather of a feet to come here for your usual heads up, yea…?"
The boy chuckled and crossed his arms while shook his head and responded with a cocky voice,
"what can I say… ever since I turned 10, I had to take responsibility of every little thing, from getting up early, and along with waking you up since you don't get up early and again reminding you every night for the dinner time. Isn't this a big responsibility for a little guy like me..?"
The man rolled his eyes and smirked while crossing his broad shoulders and uplift an eyebrow while replied with a mockery tone,
"yea.. and we can disregard all those moments where I have to lift you up and tuck you under the covers and bet I failed to mention the customary pat on your forehead because without it, you cannot sleep at night..and how can I forget the ravenous eating manner of yours…"
The boy responded with a blank look and drew a pout. He spoke with a whine, reminding himself that he lost this conversation to his old man.
" Alrighttttt!, Can we eat now?, I cannot wait any more longer, you are delaying too much today"
He turned around to walk back on his way out but not before adding," sometimes I feel like I'm the parent here, of how we decipher our things".
With that, he padded his young feet across the hall and on his way to the staircase into the dining hall.
The man chuckled lowly under his breath at the little one's remark, not getting surprised of the young guy's strong vocabulary, inheriting its intelligence and wisdom from his maternal side. The boy usually mocks him in somewhat contemptuous manner but he appreciates how their bond towards each other speaks in different form with a mix of understanding and durability. He suddenly recollects something and swiftly made his way towards the boy by finally letting himself out of the room and nearing its staircase. He could see the boy's darkish brown hair, were bouncing with each step through the spiral staircase he took towards his direction.
"Kai!" bellowed a voice radiated out of the top of its lungs.
The said boy turned around after hearing out called his name.
He replied back, "yea Dad...".
Kai sees his father on top of the staircase holding the railing, while looking at him with curiosity and raised his eyebrows, questioning his old man the reason for stopping him midway.
Meanwhile, his father stopped in his tracks and slowly gulped down the saliva to damp his dry neck when he stared at that face, those sapphire eyes that mysteriously turned itself a beautiful blue shade, he was once acquainted with. He blinked his eyes and slowly widening it to regard the short fluffy dark lock turning slowly into long brown hair shining with mirth and the boyish visage transforming into a gorgeous feminine face with familiarity, smiling at him with eyes full of life and curiosity about every little thing.
He was suddenly brought back to its reality when he felt a smooth touch on his arm of the other person present with him. He slowly looked down at Kai who was watching him with eyes containing slight worry and surprisingly understanding after discovering his father retrograded into the dazed state for the umpteenth time.
The father slowly blinked his eyes and gently relaxed his shoulders while patting his son's forehead despite him being the reason for his dazed state just a minute ago. He had no idea when his son climbed up the stairs was trying his best out of anxiety to provide him comfort upon reaching near his father. At the same time he was also indifferent towards it because he could always regard his son's uncanny resemblance with her, his mother. He turned his attention towards kai who was shaking him on his arm.
Kai asked with slight uncertainty in his voice, "You ok,. Dad?"
Kai remembers himself being in the similar position where his father enters into a trance mode out of nowhere and how it tremors him seeing his father's steel eyes slowly getting unfolded with haze making it conspicuous as he let himself fall into a vicinity where he perceives contentment along with the constant obscurity that gathers around his surrounding reminding itself of its presence, indicating him that there will always be an ominous presence within an ounce of happiness.
Through the years, Kai gathers a grasp of the solution on how to let themselves out of this particular situation. So he didn't panic of his father's behavior and let handled the situation perfectly even with the rise of unsettling thoughts no matter how downcast he himself was.
The father slowly let out a comforting smile, seeing his son's downcast expression and silently thanked him for his unacknowledged help. He feels somewhat betrayed of himself seeing his son current state because of him.
He then asked with a sheepish smile, "I really did that again. Didn't I?"
Kai slowly smiled with a relief and understanding, dancing in his deep blue eyes.
He said, "Well there's nothing to worry, when you have me, right?"
His father let out one of his rare smiles that formed crinkles out of the corner of his eyes. That was always a rare sight for the ones who knows him but not to his son who encountered it frequently over time. He agreed with his little one while patting his forehead. Kai rolled his eyes and shrugs himself out of his touch and asked him with frowned eyebrows
"Will you tell me why you called for me and please dad, don't ruin my hairstyle, when my hair never bothers to stay intact."
His father composed himself upon realization and runs a hand over his purple lock to let small tresses out of his sight.
He asked, "Uh, Yeah..It completely went out my mind. You haven't forgotten about tomorrow's upcoming plans right?"
Kai replied back while bringing himself on the way downstairs to the kitchen.
"Of course not, Dad. It's not like it is the first time we are going through that plan."
His father followed his son to the kitchen and brought out two mugs that were their usual for drinking water from one of the cabinets and placed it on their huge dining table along with the reserved glass bowls containing today's dinner and fine casseroles placed next to each other, while listening to his son's mode of conversing that usually speaks how he makes himself to be discipline in every order. He didn't know where his etiquette came from. He somewhat let himself assumed it might be from him or the boy's maternal side but didn't even let a thought go towards his mother since he knew she was too clumsy to be organized.
He again asked with slight playful mirth behind his words,
"And have you done with your packing? You will be at fault, if you forget anything of your belongings."
As expected, Kai let out a tired breath and got annoyed by his father's usual queries. His father knew very well how much his son disliked the idea of being treated as the usual 10 year old where children of his age were way too dependent on their parents, unlike him where he likes to be independent despite of wishing for his father while he sleeps, or the time when he miss his mother. Though, his father doesn't fail to tease him at every chance he gets.
Kai replied back with exasperation, "Dad what do you think, i wouldn't finished my packing by now. I thought you knew better before asking that."
His father chuckled under his breath. He shook his head while looking at his son contently, watching him gulping down every bite, for once forgetting his etiquette when it comes to table manners just like his mother.
Recollecting her in his memory brought again the indescribable agony deep within his heart, scratching it roughly against the walls. To distract himself, he looked down at his plate filled with unfinished rice and some veggies, where he stirred it with the spoon without the desire of consuming but nonetheless forcing his mouth to swallow every ounce he brings into, not wishing on tiring his son anymore of his condition than it would, from the upcoming events where his son might need his presence, and a strong willed one at that. Through the years, never a day passed gratefully without remembering her in his thought, but he didn't know why today he was missing her so immensely. Even though he has acquainted himself with the boy's deep blue sapphire eyes and those raven fluffy locks, but watching them reminding him most about her today.
With the flip of the switch, light shone around the vast room abandoning the darkness that was inundating in its full might but eventually succumbed to the brightness of the given source of light and lightning along the other possessions present in the room.
Kai stepped his foot into his room and closed the door by rotating the knob. He turned around and made his way towards his bag-pack lying across the room, that are packed with his full belongings varied from few clothes starting from his t-shirts, vest, jeans to fresh undergarments, and his daily essentials like toothbrush, toothpaste (his choice), his Pokepad, Poke-navigator, Pokedex and few pokeballs. He silently praised himself for completing his work in due time unlike his father. He scoffed at the comparison.
On the spur of the moment, his eyes falls onto a photo frame resting peacefully just like the person positioned inside the frame, at the top of his arranged clothes in his bag that he zipped it open to check whether he didn't forget anything as fore warned by his father. But he stopped midway and let his eyes go soften upon seeing the beautiful female inside the frame, who was giving his 5 year old version a tight sideways hug and resting her head on top of the little guy's head letting her small brown tresses playfully framing his forehead.
Both of them were emanating such radiant smiles from their faces and their alike playful mirth shining out of their sapphire eyes, corresponding to each other where even the 'Darkrai' himself would be keen to get close towards them. No one can even put across the thought of their dreary faces into the sight after apprehending such pleasing view.
Kai gulped down bit of saliva to run down its throat soaking its dryness that was making him difficult to breathe after he sets a glimpse on the woman, his mother.
He muttered with a low voice filled with melancholy, distinguishable enough to identify it, from anyone if they'd be nearby him,
" Hey mum.."
Kai let out a small smile after that and stood to his feet and set himself sat down on his made bed with recoil.
"How are you? I guess it's been ages since we talked like this..I'm sorry Ma, if u thought that I forgot bout' you, when it's not. I know you'd understand..You always do…", he ended with a soft voice.
Kai knows even if he shouts or yells to prove something of what he witnessed just now, there would be no point because people doesn't believe any myth or miracle other than science or unusual occurrences unless it's proven. Through the passing years, he acknowledged this fact and decided to keep it to himself for his own delight. Whenever he talks or says anything to his mother present in this particular frame, his mother's sapphire eyes would get unusually bright and bluish in color as if she is letting her presence known to her son.
He remember when he discovered it for the first time, he was about to loosen the hold of the frame and gratefully thanked the Arceus that he made himself composed in right time. He cannot forget his blurred vision due to those ceaseless tears placing themselves into his mother's visage inside the glass frame, where he was holding it tightly as if he blinks, he would see his mother vanish any second. That day, he felt his mother's presence at such an intensity where even he didn't waited for his father to come to him and slept peacefully for the first time since his mother's death.
Kai let out a pained smile, reminiscing that vivid memory which clearly stands above anything else in his little mind. He looked at his mother's unusually bright smile and sapphire eyes shining so bright after he mentioned how understanding she was.
"I don't know why,... I'm missing you so much today, mum. It's been years since I have experienced this feeling and even though nothing unusual happened aside from father's dazed condition,."
He suddenly stops in mid-sentence and added in low voice with eyebrows knitted together indicating its worry for his father, "You know... I do feel like I understand why dad always turns out like this. After all he misses you too…. just like me.."
He slowly runs his hand over his mother's alluring and unusually bright face and suddenly gets alarmed upon sensing a cool drop on his knuckles. Without any acknowledgement, he brought his hand up his face and gets conscious of the tears letting its presence known on his round cheeks that turned red due to the perceiveness of the sensations all at once at the same time.
He scoffed and furiously rubs his eyes not letting any presence of tears to exist anymore while speaking with a smile containing deep agony, "Guess, I'm still weak. But don't you worry mum, I will manage myself. I promised you I will be independent and will take care of dad and everything. I'm still working on it and dad says I'm progressing..Yea?..I'm doing right, yea,.. mum?..."
His grin slowly stretched back to normal and formed a plain expression where fresh tears were starting to appear in the corner of his eyes, threatening to fall but Kai didn't let it this time. He let out a huge breath from his nostrils and composed himself and blinked his eyes continuously shooing away the newly formed tears back to its place and silently challenging them as if saying that ' you cannot let me down this time'.
He somewhat let out a fresh smile while seeing his mother's face turned bright again quoting him that his mother was still there with him no matter what happens or how weak he falls to his knees. He knows very well with the strength of his mother by his side, he can break any walls despite of how huge and bold it can be. He emits one last quick look and placed the frame back to its place, inside his bag on top of his clothes and zipped it close.
Then he let the darkness surrounds again in his room by snapping his fingers that automatically flipped the light switched off. He sighed and falls back on his back on his huge bed with a bounce letting his body pressed down against the soft mattress.
He closed his eyes and let thoughts wander in his little mind. He thought 'tomorrow is a big day..' .
He slowly turned himself sideways and positioned his front facing the huge windows that are attached with the floor, out looking the balcony and the shimmers of silver rays of the moonlight gracing his face offering a soothing touch. The slight breeze was exposing out from one of the tiny opening of the glass slide doors, prompting the long curtains to dance along with it, and furthermore adding a consoling touch for the young little guy that already dozed off. He finally let himself fall into the slumber after ushering with a final thought, 'cannot wait to meet everyone..'.
He finally slept with his senses long gone to their resting place and closing all the doors of his insides to not let any unwanted noises or any notion that can disrupt his sleep. Even he didn't acknowledged the slight opening of the door to his room and the slow careful footsteps approaching towards his bed and light affectionate pat on his forehead, along with a light peck. Impulsively, a small smile traced itself around the corners of his mouth and above all a slow mumble that says, "Mommy…"
"Three complete years have passed since the introduction of that idea of yours and here, I've thought you have completed its outline but I didn't knew Mr. stoic proved himself as a complete lazy more than what he shows", said Gary with his snobby smile plastered on his bearded face as usual, directing towards his longtime rival and companion through an electronic screen connecting both the individuals across the two regions situated far away from each other.
The other fella on the other side responded with a blank look.
Gary let out a loud chuckle catching his friend's expression and continued further while slumping lazily on his back against the chair and sluggishly crossed his wide shoulders, " I do not see any further intrusion now on agreeing with Kai. That boy never fails to get you, Paul."
Paul rolled his eyes for the umpteenth time and run a hand over his purple tresses and tucks it behind his ear in a worn out manner. When you engage yourself in a conversation with this stuck up spiky brunette guy, your eyes never get the chance to keep it at one place but has to roll them as long as the conversation takes place.
He replied back with exasperation making his steel eyes bore into the living soul in the chocolate brown eyes, situated on the other side of the screen making the person owning them composed himself a little, being afraid not to fall into the prey of those eyes.
" I completed the outline and its blue print is already in the verge of execution in accordance in the form,..it's just the damn further plans; the dates and the required human capital that need a proper furnished frame in order to completely give it an ultimate finish."
Paul then let a smirk slowly drawn to its face and rested the weight of his head against the contact with the knuckle of his hand.
He spoke with one of his infamous sneer smile of his own, "Guess who proved himself as dull and slow-witted now, who didn't grasped even a small thing. Misty was right when she said your head is filled with arrogance and filthy thoughts to settle a single decent concept in you."
Gary drew a pout on his face and was about to retort when he was interrupted with a shake on his chair and out revealed an older feminine face from his side. Her once bob cut orange hair now converted into those beautiful long tresses that reached till her mid-back, framing her once cute oval face, where now its edges got sharpened with its passing time but nevertheless no one can say she is a married woman and a mother of her two children no less. She smiled with an unending glee in her ocean green eyes after catching a glimpse of the person surfacing on the screen.
She said while waving her hand hitting Gary in the process on his temple annoying him to an extent where he positioned his head farther away from her flying steel hands. He knew better to compete with that strength.
"Look who's on the other side! Long time no see Paul. How are you? How's my little Kai? When are you guys arriving here?"
Gary had to interrupt her usual unending list of questions that she usually throws them out of excitement, forgetting everything around her, even her own husband who gently ushered her out of his sight and spoke with a sigh, "There there Misty ... Now how can you expect him to respond all of that, when you are continuously going at him like a hydro pump."
Misty responded him with a side glare and replied back hastily, "Oh shush You, stop answering for him. Let him do the talking. How would you know he'd be unable to respond to my questions? He's not a slowpoke like you!"
Gary let his eyebrows creased together and formed a shape of O through his mouth due to the unexpected throw at him. He replied back with the same tone like his wife used earlier, "Hey! How did I get included in this and, will you stop calling me Slowpoke for Arceus sake? I'm a goddamn Pokémon scientist that has its fame flowing across the world where those young trainees and don't forget, even the known researchers doesn't look up to me for nothing."
Through the last sentences that were filled with cockiness full to its core, it didn't presented a hesitation for his wife to roll her eyes and even Paul who was witnessing such comical antics with a bore look, rolled his eyes again for the millionth time. For him it was not completely a rare sight. He already succumbed to his fate long back when they entered into his life. He scoffed funnily with this thought.
He was starting to get now aggravated of all the loud noises and no matter how he love to see his best friend getting thrashed by his wife's hands, he had to stop in order to get to his bed.
He spoke with a loud tone in order to interrupt the couple's spat, "Alright guys, that's enough now... Man sometimes I do wonder how you guys even became a parent. I'd be not surprised if it turns the other way around where it gets April and even Joseph to handle you both."
The Kanto couple had their cheeks turned red due to the embarrassment and got self-conscious of their infamous disputes that emerge at every single moment without a care of their surroundings. Misty composed her posture straight and crossed her fine shoulders that were covered with her long sleeve blouse accompanying her below with a knee length skirt.
She muttered again with a condescending tone of her while tilting her head sideways and was directing her message to the purple haired guy, "yea... you should really teach your best friend how to listen to someone with intent and without pestering them for once?"
Gary let out a huge breath through his closed mouth with a frown. He turned his face the other way facing the huge closed windows of his office room while positioning the weight of his head against the knuckle of his hand and muttered lowly under his breath, "says the one who came here uninvited and now bossing around..."
"What did you say?..", Misty replied back with a deep tone, a dangerous hint in her feminine voice as if quoting 'one more word and you won't be alive to see the daylight'.
Gary visibly gulped and throwing away all the attention to his best friend sitting there on the other side all drained of energy and was just a second away in putting off his computer and be on his way.
He said with a haste, "Dude, you were about to say something.."
Paul shook his head slowly in retaliation. He turned his attention to Misty who now shook out of her fury and the curious ocean green eyes were watching curiously at him, "Misty... I'm perfectly fine, thank you. Everything's fine here and I and kai had already booked a ticket for tomorrow."
Misty let out a delight noise affirming it in a positive manner. She replied back with her own happiness visible in her voice besides ignoring all the commotion that had just occurred a minute ago, "That's so good to hear. It's been ages since we all met and I have this feeling growing inside of me that is saying this reunion is gonna get interesting in lot different ways than our minds could decipher."
Gary let out a subdued smile of his own and sighed with somewhat content watching his wife's excitement, while on the other hand Paul raised his eyebrows and let out a sheepish look where he is still learning on getting acquainted with such optimistic and loud environment.
Suddenly his expression faltered a bit, that were enough to conceal it from his two chat buddies, with her following question that instantly discarded at him.
"Tell me, how's Kai, Paul? I want to know how's my baby genius is doing?". asked Misty with an anticipation of the wellbeing news of her favorite nephew. Her expression didn't last long in its originality after witnessing a slight falter expression on the purple haired guy's face even Gary who noticed it in perfect time but they both didn't troubled him with their rising questions no matter how eager they were. Both of them perceived a silent understanding behind their expressions and it automatically sobered them up.
"He's of course fit and fine just like usual. That boy doesn't even gives me a chance to provide myself a break. So how can you expect him to not be fine?", said Paul with a gentle smile emerged on his face.
The couple responded back with a soft laugh while imagining the little guy's antics that became likeable to everyone, he has come across in his life.
"I think I should retire to my bed or else Kai would get another chance to backtrack at me in the morning and wouldn't leave my head through the whole journey.", said Paul while stifling a yawn.
Gary laughed in response and replied back, "As you should. See you soon then, buddy. And don't forget to bring that famous native caramel chocolate. You know how much I love them.. See I can still feel the drool…"
Paul recoiled with disgust and shook his head of his best friend's childlike antics. He doubt if he even shares his favourite chocolate to his kids. He soon turned his attention to Misty who regarded him with much more matured goodbye.
" Take care, Paul and give all my biggest love to my baby Kai and yes, April and Joseph said hi too. We are eagerly waiting for you guys."
Paul let out a small genuine smile in response showing his gratitude for their unending love and care that gets showered at them every chance they gets. Finally they bade their goodbyes and brought them back to their home-screen.
The flip of the black screen revealed Gary's face that went suddenly in trance and unconsciously turned the computer switch off. He sighed and slumped his back against his chair while resting his head with the support on his forearms crossed to each other and stared at the white ceiling of his office room. He didn't even flinched when Misty patted his shoulder comfortingly.
Suddenly Gary uttered with a low voice, "He's still suffering, Misty."
Misty let out a slow 'hmm' in response. Then her eyes slowly paved its attention towards a rectangular photo frame containing her 17 year old version getting her face smashed comically along with the 16 year old Gary where his face was slight pompous from getting equally smashed but his jolly eyes were conveying it all differently and finally the one who was the cause of their expressions was positioned in the middle with her jolly blue eyes, where she was resting both her hands around their shoulders hugging them tightly.
A gentle smile paved its way across Misty's face upon recollecting the memories and all the chaos to pose for a simple picture. She remembers how her blue-eyed friend intentionally was holding it for long despite of Gary's irresistible whining and how it took just one scolding from Misty and a puppy eye look from his blue-eyed friend to shut him up.
" It's more concerning when you know that the one who is going through a lot at the most is not here currently with us, but was bold enough to desert everyone behind...", muttered Misty with a somber voice that caused Gary to clench his jaw in response.
He didn't bothered giving a response, as his eyes that were now filled with deep pain, directed at the very same photo frame perfectly fixated on the wall among the other photos, above the computer. Witnessing the radiant energy from their faces, especially from his blue-eyed friend who was like a dear sister to him and the one he adored the most, sent both the Kanto couple to wipe their eyes, that were bristling with a shine from its visible wetness around the corners of their eyes, while remembering their dear mutual friends one containing deep gorgeous sapphire eyes and the other with the brown eyes that were once known for its compassion and determination but now they doubt if anything was still the same.
Dark brown eyes opened with a jolt and the sounds of heaving can be heard through the thick silence that was flowing around the dark room. Rays of the moonlight eased a way through the opened curtains, highlighting the face of a masculine person that owned this single small room.
He steadily moved his hand to cover his eyes through the rise in discomfort from a sudden dream and aggressively runs it over his thick messy raven hair. Then he unconsciously advances his hand in the dimness towards the attached bed table to reach out for the glass of water covered up with the lid. But he uttered an aggravated noise with a tsk when he found the glass empty.
He let out a tired breath and gathered enough energy in order to stand up on his feet and entered into the damp floor of his bathroom after switching on the light. Tired red bloodshot eyes concealing his chocolate brown eyes that were once full of life, stared right back at him lifelessly in the mirror, mocking at him with an atrocious manner.
All of an instant, fuzzy image of a feminine laugh with the crinkles deep visible around the corners of her beautiful sapphire eyes that were addressing at him lovingly flashed in his mind. He swiftly turned on the faucet and spattered his face mindlessly with the running water trying to clear the visible tiredness off his face and the vague flashbacks of a certain person off his mind. He was taking deep breaths where he set the weight of his body against the knuckles placed on both the sides of the washstand while small droplets were crumbling down relentlessly, preceding through the strong jaw that were lined with an unshaved stubble around it.
With a flick of the lighter, he lights a long cigarette and blew a puff out of his mouth. He has now been situated himself outside his open balcony where he positioned his back resting on a table cloth and facing the bright moon shining down at him accompanying the countless stars that were doing their duty. A faint light outlined his worn out face where he creased his eyebrows into a deep frown upon the brightness of his mobile phone witnessing the time. It was midnight and he noticed the current date where it stated – 25th of September.
An indescribable ache found its way through his heart upon recollecting the events that was impending on the following days. He kept his phone aside and continued his attention towards the sky while blowing puffs one after the other.
Various thoughts started gathering in his loaded mind 'I guess time keeps on dragging slowly, when it comes to you. Cannot believe it's already been 5 years since I had picked favorite flowers for you...'
With that, he slowly shut his eyes out and placed a forearm under his eyes inviting a dimness on his vision and to conceal the following despair along with shutting down the endless thoughts swirling in his mind. He knew he had no choice upon fighting back but let himself succumbed to the darkness amplifying within him.
