Chapter 39
A vase smashed against the wall and a tall man tried to appear as if he was not scared of the man who threw it at him, narrowly missing his head. Whoever this man really is, whoever those people really are, this reaction proves that Peter is not just looking for his daughter. He is not worried those people were the ones that took her. This is not the reaction of a concerned parent. It was anger. Anger that he is being outsmarted by those people. Who is this man?
"I want answers!" he yelled.
"I don't have any. All I know is they suddenly bolted into the night. We know a phone call came in but it was really short. Then it was just a matter of minutes and they had bags packed and were out the door."
"Then what?" Faison was trying to control his temper but it was not easy at the moment.
"They took off. I mean they were moving. By the time any of us could get to our vehicles they were gone. We located that car this morning but they were nowhere to be found. The car was just left on the side of the road."
As much as he wanted to scream at this man to find them, he knew he couldn't. This is just a man hired for a surveillance job. "Fine, I guess there isn't much more you can do for me."
"Sorry sir. We were not expecting them to take off like that," he explained.
"It's not your fault." It was his fault for not having better people working for him. Having to be in hiding again, that is on the WSB. That is on Robert Scorpio, may he burn in hell.
"Is there anything else I can do?"
"No, collect your payment on your way out." Faison dismissed him then went and sat down. Who had been in that cabin? The phone calls they had managed to record parts of, could that have really been Anna's voice? Was she one of the people that ran off into the night? Had they found out they were being watched? Do they know someone is on to them? What is going on and where is Anna Devane?
…
The street was abandoned, which suited Sean's needs. He walked towards the back of Delafield's. The building was still being remodelled after the earthquake and he was headed to the construction office. When he rounded the side of the small trailer, she stepped out of the darkness.
"You're pretty good at that. Hello Alex." Sean grinned at her.
"Hi. It's kind of fun. The excitement is a boost, especially since I have been spending so much time alone." This was the second night in a row they had met.
Sean nodded his head slightly, "Sorry about that. I know it can't be easy."
"Don't be. I know it's for all of our safety." Alex understood all too well. Her encounter with Faison could still haunt her dreams some nights.
"Alright. There's a little news. We know the cabin was searched after our people moved out. That's why Mac hasn't been around the last few days. We needed someone we could trust to watch the area when our team moved out."
"Oh, where has Robin been?"
"At the house but coming over to my place for dinner in the evenings. She still has protection in place."
"Alright, is there anything else I need to know?"
Alex was concerned and wanted information, without trying she was behaving just as Sean would have wanted. "You need to know your family is all safe. You need to know you are a very important part of this team. You also need to know you are handling this wonderfully." If they are seen together, Alex appearing as if she wants information from Sean will be a plus.
Alex smiled and nodded. That made her feel a little better. "Thank you, Sean."
…
Pulling into a parking lot close to the waterfront, Frisco looked over at Felicia and smiled. People knew Felicia had been out of town but no one could have known who she would return with. Sam had returned to work the day before, there was no need to have them all show back up in town at once. "This should get people talking," he said with a little grin.
"People in this town don't need a reason to talk." There was a little laugh in her response.
Frisco leaned in and kissed her cheek, "Let's give them something to talk about."
It wasn't long before they were at the door to Kelly's, they exchanged a look, smiling ear to ear. Opening the door, "After you."
Felicia walked in, there were several people there but Ruby noticed them almost instantly. "Would you look at this? Felicia, where did you find him? Oh, welcome home." Ruby walked over and hugged Frisco, then Felicia. "I hope this isn't a short visit."
Leaning out of the hug Frisco grinned at her. "The length of my stay is yet to be determined, I'll put it that way for now."
Ruby noticed that statement made Felica smile even more than she already was. "Well, I'm happy you're back."
"I'm happy to be back too." After a little chat, they sat at a table. The only thing they needed to do today was make sure they were seen and that everyone knew they had a few days' reunion before coming back to Port Charles, that's why Sam returned from their girls' trip first.
Once they were settled in Felicia leaned in a little, "Yet to be determined? I want to talk about that more but that can wait." She looked up and smiled. Tony and Bobbie walked in with BJ and Maxie. "Our little girl just got here."
They stood up and the family greeted each other with smiles, hugs and lots of chatter. Tony grabbed his brother's shoulders, "I am so glad you're home." The look they shared, said so much. Tony was very happy Frisco was back. He left town and needed to deal with the past so he could move on with his life. That was how Tony had explained his brother's latest absence from his family's life.
His older brother's message was clear. Frisco looked into Tony's eyes. "I know. It's time for me to make a choice. I know."
"Alright then." The brothers nodded then Tony turned. "Your little girl has missed you."
"And I've missed her. Hello Maxie."
"Hi, Daddy." That has to be the most wonderful thing he has ever heard. Frisco picked her up and she melted into his arms. At almost two, this was not the baby he had loved dressing up and spending time with. This is a little girl who will want his love and attention. A little girl that will be heartbroken when he leaves again. If he leaves again. He looked at Felicia, then put an arm around her as well, she joined them in a family hug.
The crossroad Frisco finds himself at doesn't play fair. He loves being a WSB agent but nothing the WSB can offer feels like home. These people are his home.
…
There were a lot of plans in action, a lot that had to go their way. They knew it wouldn't be long before Faison would be in Port Charles looking for Anna. He could already be in the area. It was time for a team meeting, it might be the only one they could risk. Frisco's welcome home get-together will offer the perfect cover. Mac will be invited as a family friend, Sean and Tiffany are both a must. Ronda might not be in attendance but she will be in the area. Much like Robert and Anna, it will be up to her to figure out how she handles getting into the attic apartment unnoticed. This would be the first meeting like this and it might also be the only opportunity for one.
That evening there was a feeling of joy in the Brownstone. Everyone there talking happily, enjoying themselves and the company of the people there. It did feel like a little family when you lived there and everyone was happy to see that Frisco had returned home. Many were telling him that they hoped it was for good this time. As the evening went on Mac made his way over to Bobbie to thank her for inviting him and to explain it was time for him to head to the club.
That signalled to Sean it was time to talk to the happy couple alone for a little while. Ten minutes later he made his way over to Frisco, "I would like to speak with you and your beautiful wife for a while if you don't mind."
"Oh, alright." Frisco who had been standing with Tony excused himself then the two men wandered over to Felicia and asked her to join them. Then they excused themselves saying they were going to chat up in their apartment. That wasn't where they went through, they continued up and then through the door to the small attic apartment that was almost done being renovated after sitting empty for some time.
When they entered Mac and Ronda were already there. Frisco grinned, he didn't seem to notice he had interrupted their conversation "Ronda, it's great to see you. I'm so glad you're working with us. She is an amazing agent, only being slowed down by injury. How are you doing?"
Ronda smiled, Frisco had always been nice to her and when they had worked together in the past it always went smoothly. "I'm doing well. Watching Robin is pretty easy since she tells me what she's doing most of the time. I do miss the Crow's Nest a little. The peacefulness and beauty are hard to beat."
"Yeah, I've heard about the place. Robin's a good kid so you've got an easy task at the moment," he stated.
"So what are we here to discuss?" Felicia asked.
"We aren't all here yet," Sean informed her as he joined Mac.
"Oh, who else are we waiting for?" Frisco asked looking around at the people there.
As if on cue the door opened and an elderly couple walked in. Sean grinned again, "Now we can get started." There was an exchange of looks among the other people there.
"What?" Mac asked looking at the couple and then around the room.
The older couple then stood up straight and smiled. Sean tilted his head slightly, "Alright, old buddy, I'll give you the floor."
"Thanks," Robert answered. "So our deaths have been exaggerated. As you can see."
"Hi, everyone," Anna added, holding Robert's arm. Even though they were both in disguise the people there all know those voices.
Then Felicia rushed over and pulled her into her arms, hugging her tight. "I knew you were alive. I knew it was your voice on those tapes. Oh, Anna, it is so good to see you." She hugged her a little longer and then turned to Robert. They grinned at each other, "Come here." Hugging him tightly as well.
Sean spoke up, "Alright, the seven of us in this room are the only ones who can know what is going on. Other people know some things, or they are helping us with this but only know what they need to know. We've been laying the groundwork to lead Faison back here."
Felicia gasped. "Faison!"
"We all survived that explosion," Anna said as she gave Felicia's hand a little squeeze.
"You want him back here?" Felicia wasn't sure she was hearing this. After everything that man has done, they want him back here.
"Yes," Robert answered calmly. "We need to put an end to this."
They discussed what they wanted to happen now and what was already in play. They all felt certain it wouldn't be long before Faison had to start sniffing around Port Charles looking for Anna. They didn't want to get overconfident but there was a good feeling about this plan. They all felt that this was their best chance to finally bring down Faison. Their plan was sound and he would not slip away this time.
As everyone started to disperse, Robert Anna and Sean stayed behind. They would be the last to leave, but this was also because Anna wanted to have a word with Sean.
When they were finally alone, Anna turned to him. "What are you doing putting Alex in danger? I know it's my twin you are using as bait!"
"I talked to her. I told her there could be danger. She told me she wanted to help so you can come home. I am being very careful. Alex had nothing to do and she was going stir crazy. This gives her a little something to do and she feels like she is helping you, like you both helped her."
"Well. Alright then." Hearing his explanation, the steam had gone out of her. Of course, Alex wants to help them. "Don't let her get hurt. We just found each other."
"I'll do my best," Sean told her with a grin, then hugged her. "You two stay here a little longer, I should be getting back downstairs." With that, he left.
Once they were alone Robert took her hand. "Are you alright with this?"
Anna let out a sigh, Yeah, I have to be. I don't like that Alex is involved but I understand why she is and that Sean will not let anything happen to her." Shaking her head slightly, Anna sighed again.
"She wants to help. Alex is a lot like another beautiful lady I know."
"Oh you think my sister is beautiful?" she asked, trying to sound serious.
"I do. You see, I think her twin is the sexiest woman I have ever seen and you know, twins are kinda similar."
"Oh, is that it?" They both grinned. "Nice save, Scorpio."
He grinned, "Thanks." Robert leaned in and gave her a quick kiss. "We should get out of here."
"We should." Anna bit her bottom lip, "Then you should take me to bed."
"With pleasure. Let's get going." Slowly moving out through the door to the apartment. Robert listened for anyone on the stairs. The coast was clear, taking Anna's hand they slowly started moving as an elderly couple. They would not blow their cover, not when they know they are so close to the end.
