"What are you watching?" Beca asked while passing through the living room. She stared at the screen and realized it was one of those reality shows that Chloe liked so much.
"Oh, it's nothing." Chloe waved off Beca's question. "You probably wouldn't like it."
"Is this another one of those shows where all they do is argue?"
"Kinda," Chloe tilted her head back over the couch. "Like I said, you wouldn't like it."
"Eh," Beca shrugged her shoulders, leaving her girlfriend to her show.
One week later
"This show again." Beca caught the familiar title screen out of the corner of her eye.
"Yup," Chloe settled into her usual spot on the couch. "It ended on a cliff hanger last week so I want to see what happens."
"Huh," Beca hung in the doorway for a second too long.
"You want to join me?" Chloe smiled, knowing that Beca would reject the offer.
And she was proven right as Beca quickly left the room.
One week later
Chloe was waiting for the opening credits to finish when she felt Beca flop on the couch next to her. "Hey."
"Hey." Beca laid her head in Chloe's lap and sighed when she started to play with Beca's hair. "So what exactly is the plot of this show?"
Chloe hid her smile. "It's about this family that's a bit dysfunctional. Usually the brother and the sister are feuding over something or other while the mom gets drunk and the dad just wants to go fishing on his boat."
"So usual reality TV trash?"
"You don't have to watch it with me."
"Eh," Beca settled down in Chloe's lap. "Got nothing better to do."
One week later
Chloe jerked open the apartment door with a grunt. It had been a long day at work and she was looking forward to some relaxing, brain numbing television and maybe a glass of wine. After checking her phone Chloe realized that her new favorite show had already started and cursed under her breath. She probably missed a good ten minutes and had completely forgotten to set any type of recording for it.
She set her stuff down and hurried to the living room, hoping to at least catch the rest of the show. and that's were she found Beca, popcorn in hand and staring at the TV. "Beca? What are you watching?"
Her girlfriend jumped out her seat, spilling popcorn and swearing at the same time. "Hey!" She rubbed at the back of head, a habit she had whenever she was lying. "Nothing. I wasn't watching anything."
Chloe looked over her shoulder and saw the show's logo come up after a commercial. "Oh really?"
"I was just watching it until you got back." Beca tried to defend herself. "So I could tell you what you missed."
"How very noble of you." Chloe raised a disbelieving eyebrow. "That's the only reason?"
"Yup." Beca quickly left the room, refusing to respond to Chloe's laughter behind her.
One week later
"Becs! The show is starting!" Chloe set the popcorn bowl down on the coffee table.
Beca quickly rounded the corner and plopped down on the couch next to Chloe, snagging a piece of popcorn as she did. "Think the sister will suck it up and move out?"
"Doubt it." Chloe poured them both a glass of wine and snuggled into her girlfriend. "She's still trying to weasel into grandma's will."
"That bitch." Beca took her glass.
"Remember when you tried to pretend to not like this show?"
"I don't know what you're talking about."
