The Grand Underground
After walking through Eterna Forest, the group has finally exited it; up ahead of them, they could see Eterna City.
"There it is; Eterna City." said Lincoln. "This is where I'm going to win my second gym badge."
"And where I'll win the Eterna Ribbon." said Stella.
"You mean where I'LL win the Eterna Ribbon." said Dawn.
"We'll see about that." said Stella as she and Dawn glare at each other.
"Let's get going." said Sam. As they head down a dirt path leading to their destination, they see a deep hole in the ground ahead of them.
"Why is this here?" asked Lincoln.
"Isn't it kind of dangerous to have a hole this deep in the middle of a, most likely, frequently-travelled path?" asked Clyde. As the group looks at the hole, a hand pops out of it, startling everyone, and making Stella and Dawn cling to Lincoln in fright.
"Who's there?" a voice from in the hole asked.
"We should be asking the same question, dude." Luna said to the unknown person. A few seconds later, an elderly man wearing blue coveralls climbs out and stands up.
"I am known as the Underground Man." said the man now known as the Underground Man.
"I can see why." said Stella.
"Acutally, they call me that because I'm the first one to have started digging out the Grand Underground." said the Underground Man.
"Grand Underground?" replied Lincoln.
"It's a massive network of tunnels that spread throughout the entire Sinnoh Region." said the Underground Man.
"Wow!" said Lincoln.
"Indeed." said the Underground Man. "There are all kinds of things to do down there."
"Like what?" asked Luna.
"Allow me to show you all." said the Underground Man. "If you would all climb down this rope ladder."
"Should we, dudes?" asked Luna.
"I'm kind of curious about what it's like." said Lincoln.
"I can spare some time." said Sam.
"Let's give it a look." said Dawn. They all climb down the ladder until they reach a tunnel that had lights along its walls.
"Whoa!" everyone said as they all look around.
"Impressive, isn't it?" asked the Underground Man.
"So, what kind of stuff can we actually do down here?" asked Lincoln.
"Allow me to show you." said the Underground Man as he reaches into a backpack he had on him and pulls out a sledgehammer and mattock.
"What's that stuff for?" asked Stella. The man feels around a wall until he finds a large bump.
"One of the things you can do down here is dig for items in the wall." said the Underground Man. He then starts using the tools he had to dig around until he finds something and pulls it out; everyone looks and see it was some kind of blue stone.
"What's that?" asked Dawn.
"It's a Blue Sphere." said the Underground Man. "There are many different sizes and colors of these that some people who come down here are willing to exchange for all sorts of things."
"I see." said Stella.
"But spheres aren't the only things that can be found in the walls of these tunnels." said the Underground Man. "Sometimes you can find fossils, evolution stones, valuable items, and things that can be of use to all of you."
"Cool!" said Lincoln.
"And there are small ecosystems down here that have Pokemon in them." said the Underground Man.
"Maybe there's more Pokemon I can use for future contests." said Dawn. Lincoln looks at the Underground Man's backpack.
"Excuse me, sir; but where can we get one of those?" asked Lincoln. The Underground Man looks at the backpack.
"You know, I have plenty of Explorer Kits at home; why don't you kids have this one." replied the Underground Man.
"For real?" asked Luna.
"I insist." replied the Underground Man.
"Whoa; thanks, dude." said Sam. The Underground Man gives the group the Explorer's Kit.
"I'm going back above ground; you kids be careful down here." said the Underground Man.
"Okay." said Lincoln. After the Underground Man heads back up to the surface, the group decides to look around and see what they can find.
With Lincoln, he enters an area a small barren area that had some rocks in it. He looks around and quickly sees a small, pink and cream-colored, catlike Pokemon chasing its tail around.
"What's that?" asked Lincoln as he points his pokedex at the Pokemon.
"Skitty, the Kitten Pokemon. It can't stop itself from chasing moving things, and it runs in circles, chasing its own tail." said Lincoln's pokedex.
"I think I'll catch it for Leni." said Lincoln. He takes out his Hisuian Zorua's pokeball and lets her out of it, getting the Skitty's attention.
"Zorua, use Swift!" said Lincoln. Zorua releases a barrage of stars from her tail that hit the Skitty; it responds by letting out a charming cry that releases a soundwave that hits Zorua. "Now use Snarl!" Zorua snarls, releasing a soundwave that knocks the Skitty down. Lincoln quickly takes out an empty pokeball from his pocket and throws it at the Skitty, hitting it, and sucking it in; the pokeball wiggles a few times before clicking.
"Yes! I caught Skitty!" said Lincoln. He then uses his pokedex to check out his newly caught Skitty's information. "This says that Skitty's a girl, she knows Fake Out, Growl, Tail Whip, Tackle, Sing, Attract, Disarming Voice, and Fury Swipes; she has the Cute Charm ability which makes it that a Pokemon of the opposite gender that hits her will fall in love with her."
At a rocky area with several bodies of water, Stella was looking around.
"Now; what kind of Pokemon are living around this place?" asked Stella. Her question was answered when a round, pink Pokemon with branchlike growths on it, a small horn on its forehead, and a light blue underside jumps out of one of the bodies of water. "Man, I wish Lincoln and Sam were here so one of them can use their pokedex so I can know what this Pokemon is." She takes out a pokeball.
"I hope you can take this Pokemon on, Roserade." said Stella, throwing Roserade's pokeball, and releasing it. "Roserade, use Magical Leaf!" Roserade spreads her arms and releases glowing green leaves from her body and they hit the Pokemon, dealing super effective damage to it, and knocking it to the ground. Stella takes out an empty pokeball and throws it at the Pokemon, hitting it, and sucking it in; it wiggled around a few times until it clicked.
"Yes! I caught...whatever this Pokemon is." said Stella. "I'm gonna find Lincoln or Sam; one of them can use their pokedex so I can find out what this Pokemon is." She returns Roserade to her pokeball, and she leaves the area. After walking around the tunnel for a few minutes, she sees Lincoln walking out of the area he was in.
"Hey, Lincoln." said Stella, getting Lincoln's attention.
"Hey, Stella." replied Lincoln. Stella takes out the pokeball that held the Pokemon she caught and tosses it, releasing the Pokemon.
"Can you use your pokedex on this Pokemon?" asked Stella.
"Sure." replied Lincoln, taking out his pokedex and pointing it at the Pokemon.
"Corsola, the Coral Pokemon. Many live in the clean seas of the south. They apparently can't live in polluted waters." said Lincoln's pokedex.
"According to this, your Corsola's part water, part rock, it's a girl, she knows Tackle, Harden, Water Gun, Aqua Ring, and Endure; like your Roserade, your Corsola also has the Natural Cure ability." said Lincoln.
"Thanks, Lincoln." said Stella before kissing Lincoln on the lips. "So, did you find any Pokemon?" Lincoln takes out Skitty's pokeball and tosses it, releasing Skitty. "Aw, it's so cute!"
"I'm going to give her to Leni." said Lincoln.
"I'm sure she'll love it." replied Stella.
"Wanna keep looking around?" asked Lincoln.
"Let's go." said Stella as she grabs Lincoln's hand and they all head into a tunnel.
With Luna and Sam, they were checking out an area that had a stream of lava going through it.
"We should be careful while in this place, Lunes." said Sam.
"Good call." said Luna. As they all look around, they come across a purple, scorpionlike Pokemon.
"Look at that." said Sam as she points her pokedex at the Pokemon.
"Skorupi, the Scorpion Pokemon. It lives in arid lands. It buries itself in sand and lies in wait for unsuspecting prey." said Sam's pokedex.
"I like its colors." said Luna.
"Gonna catch it?" asked Sam.
"You bet." said Luna as she takes out her Aipom's pokeball and lets her out of it. "Okay, Aipom, use Scratch!" Aipom runs at the Skorupi and scratches it across the face; it responds by firing off a barrage of needles from its mouth that hit Aipom, making it look ill.
"Aipom's poisoned!" said Sam.
"Use Astonish!" said Luna. Aipom turns around, then quickly turns back towards the Skorupi while making a scary face, startling it, and making it fall to the side, hurting it, and making it flinch. "Use Scratch one more time!" Aipom runs at the Skorupi and scratches it one more time, knocking it onto its back.
"I think it's weak enough, Luna!" said Sam. Luna nods as she takes an empty pokeball out of her pocket and throws it at the Skorupi, hitting it, and sucking it in; the pokeball wiggles a few times before clicking.
"I caught it!" said Luna.
"Nice one!" said Sam as she hugs Luna and kisses her on the cheek. As Skorupi's pokeball disappears to storage, Sam looks up its information on her pokedex.
"Skorupi's a dude, he's part poison and part bug, he knows Poison Sting, Leer, Hone Claws, Fell Stinger, Poison Fang, Bite, and Toxic Spikes; he has the Battle Armor ability which makes it so he no hit he gets will be a critical one."said Sam. She then gives Luna an Antidote which she uses on her Aipom.
"Let's check out a place that isn't too hot." said Luna as she wipes some sweat off her brow.
"Good idea." said Sam.
Somewhere in the tunnels, Clyde was using a mattock from the Explorer's Kit on a wall; as he continues using the mattock on the wall, he sees something pink inside the wall.
"What's this?" asked Clyde. He continues using the mattock on the wall until a pink tablet was revealed; he pulls it out of the wall and examines it.
"Hey, Clyde." said Lincoln as he and Stella walk down the tunnel Clyde was in.
"What you got there?" asked Stella, seeing the tablet Clyde was holding.
"Whoa; that's a Mind Plate." said Lincoln.
"What does it do?" asked Clyde.
"If you let a Pokemon hold it, its psychic type attacks will become stronger." replied Lincoln.
"You should give that to your Gallade, Clyde." said Stella. Clyde takes out Gallade's pokeball and tosses it, releasing him from it.
"Here you go, Gallade." said Clyde, holding out the Mind Plate towards Gallade; he takes it.
In a cavern with crystals, Dawn was looking around the area.
"So pretty." said Dawn. Small footsteps get her attention; she looks to see a small, light yellow Pokemon surrounded by a white egg with red and blue markings on it. Dawn takes out a pokedex and points it at the Pokemon.
"Togepi, the Spike Ball Pokemon. Its shell is said to be stuffed with happiness that it shares with kindhearted people." said Dawn's pokedex.
"Oh, it's so cute." said Dawn. "That settles it; I'm catching this Pokemon." She takes out a pokeball. "Pachirisu, spotlight!" She tosses Pachirisu's pokeball and releases her.
"Pachirisu, use Spark!" said Dawn. Pachirisu becomes surrounded by electricity and charges at Togepi, ramming it, and knocking it to the ground, but it gets up. It runs at Pachirisu and kisses her; she begins stumbling around.
"I think Pachirisu's confused." said Dawn. "Pachirisu, try using Quick Attack!" Pachirisu fights through her confusion and charges at Togepi with incredible speed and rams Togepi, knocking it to the ground.
"Now's my chance." said Dawn as she throws an empty pokeball at Togepi and hits it, sucking it in; after it wiggled around a few times, it clicks. "Yay! I caught a Togepi!" She looks up Togepi's information. "This says Togepi's a fairy type, it's a girl, she knows Growl, Pound, Sweet Kiss, Life Dew, Charm, and Ancient Power; she has the Serene Grace ability which increases the chances of her moves that has secondary effects taking effect."
Later, everyone meets back up and tell each other of what they found in The Grand Underground.
"I might come back here often to find more Pokemon." said Lincoln.
"Maybe dig up some more things we can use." said Clyde.
"Yeah, we're just taking it slow right now since this is our first time down here." said Luna.
"I'm gonna send Skitty to Leni." said Lincoln.
"And doing that down here will be perfect since if there's another time distortion, it's less likely to attract any unwanted attention." said Stella. Lincoln takes out his Poketch and uses it to contact his family; moments later, Lynn Sr answered.
"Hey, Dad." said Lincoln.
"Hello, son." replied Lynn Sr.
"I'm sending a Pokemon for Leni." said Lincoln. He uses the Dimensional Watch to open a portal; he then throws Skitty's pokeball into the portal, then closes the portal. Seconds later, Lincoln can hears Leni squealing with delight from the poketch.
"O-M-Gosh! She's totes adorbs!" said Leni.
"She's called a Skitty." said Lincoln.
"Thanks, LInky!" said Leni. After Lincoln tells Leni what Skitty's moves are, he ends the call.
"Well, everyone; let's get going." said Lincoln. The girls start heading up the rope ladder first with Dawn going last; Lincoln sees her climbing and looks away with a blush. He and Clyde then start climbing up with Lincoln looking down the whole time.
"Shouldn't you look up so you can see the rungs of the ladder more easily?" asked Clyde as he and Lincoln were lagging behind.
"N-N-No, I'm fine." said Lincoln. It took ten minutes, but the boys make it to the surface with the girls waiting impatiently.
"What took you dudes so long?" asked Luna.
"Lincoln was looking down the whole climb so that slowed us down." said Clyde.
"Why's that, dude?" asked Sam.
"W-W-Well; if I was climbing up a ladder while a girl wearing a short skirt was right above me, I was worried I'd... see something I'm too young to be seeing." said Lincoln as he blushes while looking over at Dawn, making her blush heavily as she understood what Lincoln was talking about.
"I-I-I see." said Dawn as she looks away.
"Maybe from now on, we'll let the boys go up ladders first." said Sam.
"Good call." said Luna with a chuckle.
"Let's just get to Eterna City." said Lincoln as his blush starts to fade. As they all walked down the road towards their destination, Dawn walks over to Lincoln and kisses him on the cheek.
"T-That's for being a decent gentleman." said Dawn.
"N-No problem." said Lincoln. Stella then walks over to Lincoln and pulls him towards her while glaring at Dawn who glares back at her.
"He's a decent gentleman and MY boyfriend!" said Stella.
What else awaits the group as their adventure in the Sinnoh Region continues? Wait and find out.
Meanwhile, in the Louds' garage, Rusty was tied to a chair again.
"Okay, girls, first you had me watch a video of Stella and that Dawn girl fighting over Lincoln, then the one of Lincoln putting sunscreen on Stella, then that baby had that beaver thing spray water at me, then that blue thing use me for a punching bag, then that squirrel thing tackle and electrocute me at the same time, and I'm guessing one of you had something to do with me ending up in the girls bathroom which got me a week's detention." said Rusty.
"Yes." said Lucy from behind Rusty, scaring him.
"What are you trying to do; give me a heart attack?!" asked Rusty.
"Maybe." said Lucy. Leni and Skitty walks over to Rusty.
"Aw, what a cute kitten." said Rusty.
"Skitty, Fury Swipes!" shouts Leni, pointing at Rusty. Skitty leaps at Rusty and repeatedly scratches him in the face.
"My moneymaker!" exclaimed Rusty.
"Please; you couldn't make a cent with that face." said Lana.
