CHAPTER 1:1
PART 1; Re-union
Veilstone city, SINNOH
"Come right here, Giny!", Kai exclaimed with a loud voice, while running after his Gengar who was mocking him by showing his tongue and letting out a wicked laugh directing towards his trainer and was purposefully getting away from his reach.
The sound of their chaos was coming out of a huge greenhouse that Paul had mainly constructed as a peaceful sanctuary for all of their pokemons. It was situated right behind their large residence crossing their medium sized pool.
He made sure he furnished all kinds of facilities in his greenhouse starting with the lush green forest bursting with different kinds of trees and flowers adorning each and every corner, perfectly making a place suited for their Pokémons especially for the grass types, where sometimes they opt for stalling here more than being steady for a battle. Then, amongst it, there lays a small pool garnished with shiny pebbles around it where respective water pokemons make themselves pleasurable by playing with their companions under the water, enhancing an enduring sight for the lookers that witness them.
But it's daily tranquility and relaxing time was getting slightly disrupted in a fine morning due to loud noises that were emanating from a trainer and it's pokemon that now became usual scenery for the other beings present in the greenhouse.
Gengar being a mischievous and playful creature gets a lot handful for Kai to manage him. It was his first pokemon that he earned as a present from Phoebe, the infamous 2nd member of the Hoenn Elite 4, when it was just a little Haunter.
He has a faint memory on acquainting with all the grand members of the Elite 4 when he and Paul went to Hoenn and how he was unaware of their status and power where it was understandable since he was just turning 8 years old. Now, whenever he relishes that certain memory, he couldn't help but be embarrassed on how he made fun of Sidney's non-existent hairstyle or how he slightly had a cute crush upon Glacia and would never leave a chance to hold her hand, as once mentioned by his father.
Kai stopped in his track and was panting with heavy breath while placed his hands on his hip. He looked forward with exasperation towards his Gengar who as well stopped in his track and gave a look that dared his trainer to catch him if he can, that made Kai grit his teeth in frustration.
He grumbled under his breath, "It's 7am in the morning and here I'm already stuck in the middle of this chaos..."
"Giny, please come inside your poke ball. We're already getting enough late,", said Kai with a pleading voice while his lips jutted into a slight pout.
"Dad will be so not pleased of us meddling like this, especially in the morning." grunted Kai within himself. He knew how much his dad likes to do things straight away for its immediate outcome instead of playing around.
"Giny pleaseeee", he pleaded with emphasis this time on his words and even made sure his eyes express a puppy look even though he knew very well such things doesn't work with this clever Ghost pokemon.
And it did happened as expected when the Ghost pokemon shook his head sideways in retaliation with his stuck up smile, glued on his ghostly face.
"Why don't you even listen for once?" , Kai groaned with aggravation. Even then, the ghost pokemon just shrugged carelessly.
Kai let a tired huff out his mouth and regard his pokemon with his gleaming sapphire eyes that now boredom and aggravation took its place while watching his Gengar letting out a wicked laugh towards him.
Gears started turning in his head on how to coax his pokemon to listen to him and it felt accomplished when a tiny bulb appeared in his mind. He composed himself and spoke while choosing his words carefully.
" see if you won't choose to come with us, you wouldn't be able to meet your friends especially Slakoth..."
He could see a subtle shift in Gengar's expression and silently praised himself for this sudden idea.
He continued further, "Guess what, you will get to make more new friends and play with them. Trust me no one will be there to interrupt you and even you can let yourself out of your poke ball as long as you want."
That was the final straw where his Gengar let out a delight noise affirming a positive reply, "Gengar gen gen!"
With that, Kai let out his poke ball and Gengar happily let himself succumbed to its sucking power. Kai let out a smirk while holding out now contained poke ball and put it inside his bag pack that was strapped around his waist.
"And it all took just a few words on making new friends. More like having a bigger playground for his mischiefs", Kai muttered with a scoff within himself.
He let out a huge breath while tipped his cap upfront. The turning back and forth of his cap became a constant habit after he got the thrilled on wearing it. This particular cap has been introduced by the Pokemon League Committee for the biggest Pokemon Indigo league that mainly helds in Kanto and was designed with bluish in color accompanying a poke ball design in the front.
Kai's smile flickered gently across his face after remembering the person who presented this cap to him and still has the vivid recollection of their moments that exchanged between them.
- FLASHBACK--
' A cap suddenly placed itself on top of the 6 year old Kai's head and his once sullen teary eyed expression on his chubby face suddenly sobered up upon sensing a light weight above his head. He slowly placed a hand above his head that covered up with the cap which was too big in size and was loosely hanging off his head.
He slowly tilted his head upwards to regard to the person that was standing next to him. The other person's lush green lock were slightly dancing along with the light breeze flowing around them accompanying his shining emerald eyes that was radiating with warmth and were directing below towards the 6 year old registering his lone face overshadowed with the tinted colors representing the evening sky, and out looking the ocean where even the waters cannot help but get embraced by it.
He regarded towards Kai with a kind smile plastered on his face that usually makes a pleasurable sight to admire.
Kai slowly blinked his eyes to regard the familiar person that was dear to him.
He uttered with a soft tone, "Uncle Drew…"
The curiosity in the child's expression slowly retreated back to normal after witnessing the familiar face and turned his attention slowly towards the ocean with a somber look reappeared on his face. He felt a sudden shift next to him and saw his uncle sat himself close to him on the bench, while admiring the scenic view in front of them.
Drew suddenly asked with a soft voice, "The Ocean looks beautiful, isn't it?". And let out a content sigh afterwards.
He subtly tilt his head to his left to catch a glimpse of a silent tiny nod from the child in response who in return turned his head towards the ocean upon the vary question discarded at him and he didn't regret upon doing so. Drew let out a soft smile at that but instantly tilt his body facing him, upon hearing the little guy's speaking for the first time in that hour.
"What's this cap for, uncle Drew?", asked Kai with a full curiosity swirling in his sapphire eyes pointing towards the elder person between them.
Drew's once gentle eyes suddenly held a slight shift upon catching a glimpse of the look in his eyes, the one he was once familiar with and used to carry the same innocence and curiosity in those eyes of the very same shade.
Kai notices a faraway look appeared on his Uncle's eyes. He placed his small hand on his arm to shake the glazed look from his uncle's eyes in order to erase a feeling of distress that strangely rose within his little heart. He wanted to witness the same reflection that was overflowing with kindness he perceived minutes ago, shining from his uncle's glowing emerald eyes. He has no idea why does he feel so content in living off with that expression.
This made Drew to suddenly shake himself out of the stupor after sensing a light feather touch on his arm. He moved his hand and gave a soft pat on Kai's head concealed with the huge cap while letting out a tiny smile that made Kai mentally relaxed.
"This particular cap you're wearing is not mine but one of my good friend. You could say he was one of the best trainers of his age. He was an aspiring Pokemon master…or you could regard him as The pokemon champion just how the whole world greets him… He was the one who used to wear this cap constantly and the funny thing was you can always recognize him with that cap because …. that used to be the only distinguishable feature about him", replied Drew with a gentle laugh contained with a mix of nostalgia and a hint of despair and was mentally glad that the person with him was just a mere child to perceive it.
Upon hearing his Uncle's laugh, Kai automatically let out a normal smile drawn on his features. His sapphire eyes suddenly filled with a childlike excitement and a thrill upon hearing about a pokemon champion, his uncle used to know.
"Woww! A pokemon champion! Where is he now? Do I know him? Why did he give you this cap, Uncle Drew? Does he not like it anymore?"
A chorus of questions was instantly discarded at Drew that he could only blink stupidly in response.
"So many questions and yet I can only answer few of them… You cannot expect me to answer all of that now, would you?" . Drew replied back with a playful frown while gave a light flick on the little guy's nose that caused Kai to respond with a goofy smile. Sudden mixed of emotions started disclosing on his facial features and just as quickly he overcame with a wry smile while forcefully swallowing down thickly and mentally struggling on erasing the image of the alike goofy expression he witnessed seconds ago.
He cleared his throat while continuing with a gentle tone, "besides, you haven't even met him so how are you supposed to know him. And he gave me this cap as a small token of gratitude from a friend."
Kai's eyebrows creased indicating deep thinking and confusion on his facial features. He asked while letting out his confusion, "Why? Did he get bored of it?"
Drew stifled a tiny smile. "It's not like he didn't liked it anymore but …"
Kai blinked his eyes with an intent on fully listening his Uncle's next words who directed at him with a knowing smirk while his emerald eyes were looking back and forth between Kai's face and the huge cap that now almost covered the side of his face, "he might gave me this cap so that someday I could give it to you. I think now it might be the right time…"
"Consider it as a small present from both of us". Drew replied back with a small smile while he tilted the boy's cap backwards framing his forehead perfectly over shown with a face that made Drew slightly gulped down his throat through an empty mouth.
He calmed himself by facing the ocean allowing his emerald eyes to bristle with an unidentified emotion. He suddenly looked at Kai that interrupted his line of thought.
"If it's a present from you and your friend, then I guess I should keep it. As daddy says, you shouldn't accept anything from anyone even if it's a gift unless it's from my family…"said Kai while he scratched the side of his face with an expression that's indicating on him fully reciting what his father said one time when he accepted a chocolate given by one of his father's employee.
Drew responded with an eye roll in regard to the little one's statement. He thought 'typical Paul' and let out a scoff.
"Uncle Drew…"
In response, Drew raised his eyebrows towards the 6 year old, implying him that he was all ears.
Kai continued with a soft tone while his hand was touching the tip of his newly owned cap with a subtle shyness emanating from his features.
"I was really sad before you came. I guess i was jealous and sad watching how my friends were getting kisses and hugs from their mother. Maybe the reason I felt that way because I don't have my own now. And now watching them made me realize how much I miss her…even though I have my daddy who gives me nothing and always love but i also need my mommy as well"
Drew's eyebrows slowly formed a crease and clenched his jaw in retaliation of those words that came out from the bottom of a child's heart eliminating roughly against its walls radiating an immense agony that no one wants to witness from a child especially at such a young age. He wished he could just somehow suck all the pain from him and throw it away towards the ocean that can get washed away against the huge waves and can flow to the faraway place where no one could reach out.
"But I don't know why after wearing this cap, I don't feel so sad anymore. I know I'll never be alone. And I promise you Uncle Drew I will forever cherish this gift and you will see..." he stood up from his seat and straight away turned around facing his uncle who looked at him with a subtle smirk slowly forming on his face.
"When I will turn 10, I will have my first pokemon and will go on a journey. I will become a great pokemon champion just like your friend and will make everyone proud. I will give love to my every pokemon. Even your friend will be so happy upon seeing me, right Uncle Drew?"
He could see so many similarities that were coming out strongly from the child's features that made him thought, 'they are so alike….'
A gentle breeze instantly let it touched their skins ruffling their hair producing tranquility within them. An unconscious smile let itself appeared on Drew's face that was mixed with a tinge of sadness while reading the 6 year old's features and undoubtedly an unending proudness while his emerald eyes read the determination and a growing blaze deep shining in the sapphire eyes. He thought again with a bittersweet smile, 'yea..they are too alike'
With that, a gentle stroke was gently being received on Kai's head who now watched his uncle that gave a slight nod while speaking, "hmm…you have no idea how much he would've been happy if he would've met you….. You know he love kids, especially kids like you…he always wanted a son like you."
Drew let out a huge breath afterwards and faced the ocean with his emerald eyes glistening now from the colors of the ocean, highlighted from patches of red that was still glued up in the sky but within its passing hour, its darkness was slowly letting itself making its presence overshadowing them. He further added with a final sentence
"I hope you both meet one day ….and in better circumstances…."
At that moment the curiosity and the confusing thoughts upon his Uncle's broken sentences that he was trying earnestly to comprehend it, almost spewed it out but he didn't knew why he stopped himself or why he forcefully gulped down all the unanswered thoughts down his throat.
Maybe it was the calm face of his uncle where a faint smile was drawn on his face while watching the ocean glistening with tinted colors or maybe it was his emerald eyes sparkling with a depth that made him shut his mouth and his little heart blindly craved the following serenity and further more soothed his insides upon the sound of the waves crashing against each other. He instinctively made his hand towards the tip of the cap for the instinct comfort and warmth that strangely he had got provided with just how he asked for.
Pewter city. KANTO
"Seems like you are in the verge of losing your consciousness any minute now." ,exclaimed a deep feminine voice holding a profound amusement in her tone with the tinge of a sympathy directing towards her longtime rival and also one of her best friend whom she regards as her own brother.
The latter let out a huff and slowly runs a hand over his green lock and turned around to regard towards the former that was leaning against the doorframe holding a water bottle, while he arched an eyebrow, accompanying his bored emerald eyes.
"What do you think?", the latter replied back with a dull edged in his tone.
Then he turned back around and started advancing on his left over packing. He was putting all his folded clothes in an impeccable manner under his trolley suitcase.
The former drew a smile on her face, not new with his aloof behavior. She slipped herself inside the room and positioned herself on the sofa placed near a bookshelf while she handed the water bottle to him who took it from her grasp with a polite 'thanks' and placed it on the bed table.
"I thought you would wait for a few more days so that we could go altogether.." she said while crossing her fine legs coated with the dark leggings accompanying with a top, light purple in color while watching her best friend wrapping up the charger of his phone and placed it inside the side pocket of his bag next to the stationary items like pens, stapler, ink pads etc.
"I have a business meeting to attend, Solidad." he responded dismissively, while he checked his mobile phone for any important upcoming updates from his office.
He let out a tsk upon discovering all the pending work, he has to complete. He has a reason why he took 2 weeks off for a vacation.
Well is it so wrong for a person to take a few days off for itself? After all this was the only longest vacation he provided for himself in order to revive his senses, despite of being a president of his own company.
"Rick called and the first thing I woke up to were the annoying rants of my manager convincing me to end my 'so called vacation' as quick as I can. As if I can regard his convince method as more convincing!…that idiot was fuckin' sputtering like a nonsensical fool..."
"He adopted really an obnoxious way to wake someone up from his 'peaceful' sleep!" he ended with a furious note, spasm with full sarcasm that caused his breathing momentum to dangerously pace up a little.
Solidad felt complete pity upon seeing his best friend's lifestyle that was far from being peaceful. She recalled him calling her one day with a visible fatigue on his voice notifying his arrival a week ago. Her husband Brock was on tour due to the introduction of breeders camp surrounding various parts of the world since he was now one of the most respected pokemon breeder and doctor in the world.
Brock was disappointed upon not being able to meet him but after a polite call and a little impact on words from his green haired friend made the breeder to lighten his mood and in fact wished his Hoenn friend a best stay along with sending loving words to his beloved and prompting his kids to stay on their best behavior.
"Is it so difficult for these fools to manage the company in one piece without the President being around? Now what, I would have to stuck up my face in their butt everywhere they go?!" Drew further adding more weight into his mind and unconsciously his heart while he was seething nonstop. He wanted to have a few more days for himself but of course he knew things don't go like his intended plans.
Solidad watches her male companion, who kept his phone aside, more like discarded with a throw on the other side of the bed. She was reading his features with creased eyebrows; his continuous ragged breaths along with little perspiration to form on his forehead while his eyes were slowly turning into a haze made the anxiousness slowly rising up to her head.
Her eyes slowly widened upon realization after analyzing his current physical condition.
Solidad asked with a stern voice, "Drew, did you take your pills?"
Her eyes suddenly placed on his bed table where the packet of contained pill was lying idly next to the empty glass of water with the lid resting against it accompanying the water bottle she provided it for him. She turned her grey eyes angrily showing displeasure towards her green haired companion.
"It's been an hour since you had breakfast. I thought you already had them!"
Drew just tightened his jaw in response while he sat on the bed with recoil and aggressively runs his hand over his hair. If he could he would've just pluck what's left little off his head from frustration.
Solidad continued with a rising edge on her voice making it more noticeable to perceive that she felt very disappointed on his behavior and didn't expected from him at all
"I don't understand why you are so intent on risking your health, Drew. Do you have any idea your health keeps deteriorating if you go on a day without a pill?!"
"Yeah! So what?! It's not like I have any more definite purpose in living my life!" retorted Drew with a raised voice towards his longtime supporter. The words he responded back with a lash, consumed with regret at the same time. He knew he said something he ought not to have.
"What..?" Solidad spoke with a bewildered fear in regards toward the last sentences Drew just declared. She notices a subtle cringe appeared in his emerald eyes after she call out to him but that was her less of a concern when she's now having doubts if he's keeping her dark about something.
"What did you just say?" Solidad asked again with a slight agitation on her tone while she stood up from her seat and now advancing towards her friend who let out a tired breath and rub his face with complete fatigueless that has latched itself permanently on his back.
He didn't bothered acknowledging the slight shift next to him on the bed and rests his elbows on top of his knees interlocking his fingers, and shuffling his head below facing the white rug. He knew what was about to come.
He was infamously known for concealing his emotions perfectly with ease and can blew dust in anyone's eyes that contain analytical and judgmental side on them. He knew how to let himself away from their reach but there were limitations towards few people who can easily way themselves through his heart and tuck his emotions out into the open in front of them. It's funny how he hates and loves them at the same time.
He suddenly brought back into reality when he felt a soft pat on his shoulder transferring warmth and comfort into him, which was the last thing he needed right now.
"Drew, look at me." Solidad begins with a light stern voice.
When she noticed he is not bothering to respond her any calls, she lowers her voice. Even though she has undergone his physical and mental changes from the past following years, his stoned emerald eyes proved her that he was far gone.
She sometimes wished if she had enough courage to hide her emotions from getting wasted and abandoned but then instances like this, she internally discourages and contradict on how it adversely affects him and would detest on having his first choice on displaying it unless you force itself out of his heart which was quite rare aside for few someone or a certain someone…..
"Drew, please...". Solidad now pleaded using her soft voice directing at her green haired friend.
An appreciative look started displaying on her grey eyes after she sees Drew slowly tilts his body in upright position and turned his emerald eyes to regard towards his best friend sitting right next to him.
Solidad was right when she witnessed the emerald eyes that used to shine once, now turned into a dull stone devoid of any brightness and adopted more paleness within them. She swallowed reflexively through her tightened throat. She was trying hard on herself to stay composed which was quite appreciative enough, for the sake of both of them.
"You are not skipping your medicines by any chance, right….?" asked Solidad with an uncertainty and fear visible in her voice.
Drew responded with a snort, condescending enough to prove it clear that he want to shut down this topic as fast as it arrived, "I'm not one to take such foolish step, Solidad. I cannot believe you actually let that thought come across your mind."
Solidad drew a plain expression on her face. She retorted back, "And we can just disregard the fact that you purposely forgot to take your pills, right? I let the foolish thought come across my mind cause the said person has no filter over its mouth and spew out everything what comes on his damn mind.."
Drew let out somewhat a ragged breath which caused Solidad to stroke his back in instant. She swiftly turned her attention towards the pill that was kept on the bedside table and snatched it along with the bottle before handing it over to him.
"Take it now." Solidad spoke with a commanding tone in her voice.
Drew had no choice but let himself succumbed to the outcast dominance from his friend. He gulped down the pill while swiftly opened the bottle cap and gulped all the water down his throat. He didn't even acknowledged he was thirsty after setting down the empty bottle on the floor against the bed. He silently thanked Solidad for the ever ready selfless attitude of her, though he wouldn't admit it.
Drew was well conscious of the growing apprehensiveness spiraling out of his pink haired friend. He knew he had to take the initiative in order to put an end on the rising tension that was propagating around them and it might cost him another pill within an hour if it goes on increasing.
"How are you feeling now?.." Solidad asked with a gentle voice with an uncertain fear emanating from her.
"Spectacular", Drew replied back with a subdued smirk drawn on its face while he arched an eyebrow playfully directing at his friend, who in reply formed a straight line on her mouth with an expression that was clearly indicating she isn't in the mood right now for playing around.
Drew let out a light chuckle while reciprocating Solidad's expression.
"I'm okay now, ..really.."
But suddenly his coughs made his every plan on calming the situation all drained in water and caused Solidad to continue stroking his back in reflex. Her trembling hands was not really providing much help for him and he had to gently shrug her away while calming her down despite him being the sick one in this situation.
Solidad reluctantly halt on her move and composed herself while placing her hands on her lap, regarding her friend with her grey eyes deepening with intensity.
"Are you really..?" The contest genius stacked a question on the plate which they both knew it would be difficult for her best friend to return with a complete honest answer even though it was just a simple question containing just three words but the depth beneath it was not easy enough to decipher it at one go.
Drew in return turned his emerald eyes towards Solidad and tediously replied to her expected question. He cannot hand over his heart out, at least not right now. "What do you mean..? It's just slight cough and it usually occurs when i get thirsty.." He paused for a moment and noticed his pink haired friend was about to retort back but he knew he had to end it for now and further added..
"There's nothing to worry bout' now, Sol.." Drew replied in assured manner while offering a gentle pat on her shoulder.
Though this made Solidad reluctantly closed the seal of her mouth but was not enough to cool down the burning sensation within her heart. She cannot stand watching her best friend slowly letting himself drifting away without letting anyone's assist. She needs to know what's on his inside and as luck would have it; she might know much more of it.
Suddenly their contrasting thoughts got disrupted by loud pattering footsteps across their hallway along with the incorrigible voices coming from them. It was getting louder as it was nearing the room where Solidad and Drew were. Solidad mentally pouted upon comprehending the fact that today was not the day for her meanwhile Drew on the other hand mentally relaxed which even got visible on his features, clearly abundant for Solidad to regard it with a twisted mouth in sideways.
The adults both turned their attention towards the doorframe and revealed two out of the three children of Solidad's, letting their presence known with their infamous arguments.
"No I didn't!"
"Yes, you did!"
"How can I steal your chocolate cookie that was out left in the open on the dining table?"
"Now, how did you knew my chocolate cookie was on the dining table? That would only mean one thing; you definitely ate it!"
"Well it's your fault, dear sister. Who gave you such a brilliant idea to place it on such an open place?"
"That means you accept that you ate it! How could you Alicia?! That was the last of em'! I don't think you've seen me having your favorites without your permission?
"Yeah, because, I don't keep them out where there would likely be high chances of them stealing from someone stupid!"
"Why You_"
Their arguments hold still by the sudden interruption from their mother who was watching her twin kids in exasperation.
Alicia and Alice were twin girls of 8 years old with Alicia being elder by 8 minutes. They were the youngest among the Harrison family. Their oldest child and the twins elder brother named Jason was around 12 years old who currently travelling through Unova region after competing in the Pokemon Indigo league and accomplished a place on top 8th.
"Alice, what did I said about language?" Solidad reprimanded her youngest daughter for her behavior that caused Alicia to victoriously smirk in response but it totally wiped off her face after being targeted next.
"And Alicia, you better avoid stealing cookies from your sister. You have your own bunch right?"
Both the girls drew an apologetic faces and simultaneously mumbled sorry to their mother. They thought their mother would solve their cases although it differed, as the one wanted justice on getting her cookie being eaten without permission and the other one with the intent on saving herself from her monstrous sister and obviously it didn't went as they intended.
Their brown eyes suddenly considered the other person sitting next to their mother who in regard his emerald eyes displayed an alluring smile directing at them. Their cheeks turned red and mentally cursed themselves on acting such poorly in front of their crush of a uncle. They completely disregard everything around them while pursuing with their infamous disputes.
Alice let out a wide smile on her round face while swiftly breaking her way straight towards her uncle with her blonde hair bouncing with each step and in response Drew held her between his legs and gently welcomed her with a content stroke on her head. On the other hand Alicia scowled watching her sister emerged with the first kickoff than her.
But her thoughts stood still when her brown eyes suddenly placed on the suitcase lying idly beside the sofa. She frowned with her eyebrows creased and let only one logical thought come across her mind while mentally disapproving the particular fact.
"Uncle Drew.."
Drew was suddenly being interrupted in between the light chattering with his nephew while he hears his other nephew call out his name and regarded her with the intact smile flashing from his face. "Yeah.."
But his smile slowly retreated after witnessing a scowl on Alicia's face.
"What's wrong, Alicia?" Solidad now asked with curiosity formed in her question upon seeing her daughter act like that out of the blue.
"Mum..Uncle Drew is leaving?.." Alicia asked with resentment visible in her tone.
Alice's eyes slowly widened with her sister's unexpected throw and turned around her head to see in fact the packed suitcase. She gasped and swiftly turned back to give attention towards her uncle, "you're leaving, Uncle Drew?"
Drew looked down at her and he wished he didn't after coming on facing her brown eyes getting bubbly with a teary look while her lips jutted into a pout.
Drew held a nervous expression on his face. He has no idea how to respond to that look which he clearly helds a weakness from it. 'Damn you Rick', thought Drew feeling livid on his manager for causing all the commotion on the first place.
Solidad somehow saved him when she replied back with her soft tone, intent on calming her kids down. "Honey, Uncle Drew suddenly got some important work to finish up. And it's not like he's going away for long. It's only for few days and after that you guys would be able to meet him again."
"That's right.." Drew turned his emerald eyes towards Alicia and ushered her over towards them, "Ali, Come here". That was all it took for Alicia's anger to melt down and advanced towards her uncle with her light steps.
Drew stifled a smirk while being glad that the nickname still works which he affectionately gave her when she was on her crawling era.
"There now!" Drew animatedly voiced out while he held her by his waist and placed his other hand around Alice.
"It's only for two-three days and after that you'd gradually see me again. And besides, don't you guys want to attend the reunion at your uncle Max's? It's been two years since we had an occasion like that. I'm sure in these past gap years, you both stored some awesome stories to tell your friends yea?"
"Oh yes! On our previous video chat, Kai told us that he will bring his brand new Gengar with him. I'm so excited to see how he looks in real!" Alice excitement nature was so infectious even her jiggled body caused Drew to move along with her. That made him lightly chuckled.
It's been a while since he had seen Kai and now hearing his name made his heart go soften with a thought that bumped into him, 'I wonder how he is..I'm sure he has quite changed..'. A tiny smile let itself evacuated from his lip upon mentally collecting the images of the boy's chocolate hair and his deep blue eyes graciously beaming with a smile.
"You are excited. But I'm not" Alicia said back with a plain voice while folding her arms in crossed manner, mentally palming at her sister's vicious nature.
"And why is that? Did you and Kai fought again?" Drew asked with a subtle sternness in his voice and he cannot help but mentally sighed with a rising thought, 'and here, I got another on my plate'.
"No, no no.. That's not it. It's just i_" Alicia's sentence left hanging out in the open when her sister took the initiative on continuing her umpteenth ways on gibing her elder sister with contempt.
"She doesn't like Ghost pokemon, Uncle Drew. More like she's afraid of them. That's the reason why she's so against on meeting them" Alice giggled while biting her upper lip.
Drew turned his emerald eyes towards Alicia who creased her eyebrows into a deep frown and was purely fuming towards her sister's attitude. But her blazing eyes retreated back to its normal brown when she felt her uncle ruffled her hair and turned face to face towards his emerald eyes.
"It's alright… she will eventually learn to live with them. And pokemons that look dangerous and unfriendly, sometimes they turn out friendliest among everyone. I'm pretty sure you will open out your heart to them one day…"
Alicia slowly let out a pure smile on her face and nodded while capturing her dear uncle's words in her heart. The sole reason for her growing crush and affection on her uncle was that she knew no one can comfort her like him and though she had several encounters being encouraged by him but it would always makes her heart calm and would brush away any presence of fear and uneasiness through her uncle's words, that slowly engraves into her mind and soul.
Solidad was watching with a gentle smile shining contently from her grey eyes regarding the cute bond between her kids and their uncle. She takes note on how her best friend's face light up whenever he interacts with the twins or kids just like how a radiant smile shines off a child's face on seeing a chocolate. She knew his loving nature towards kids. A sudden thought made her smile falter a bit. 'It's been years since I have seen Kai..'.
Her grey eyes turned slowly to regard her green haired friend laughing gleefully with her kids. As she watches the twins pulled him along with them deciding a pokemon display on their gym by their uncle and ushered themselves out of her sight, her mind wandered a thought, 'I wonder if it still affects him.. when he looks at the boy…? I mean who wouldn't.. he purely is a splitin' image of both his parents….'
Her grey eyes slowly turned from the doorframe where the three habitants left minutes ago and to the open doors of the balcony watching its blue skies with the covering up of the puffy clouds that somewhat added a soothing touch making her feel content. The blue skies reminded her of a very certain person who used to own the very same shade in her jolly eyes that often appears unconsciously into Solidad's mind and would cause everything to halt.
"Wherever you are, I hope you are living happily… I miss you every day, you know…. If you would have been here, I'm sure nothing would've ever come up to this. Everything would have been alright….and everyone would've been happy …" she softly said within herself.
She couldn't go further as her throat tightened with her words that gushed out from the deep walls of her heart. Her eyes bristled with unshed tears and didn't bothered to rub it off her eyes as she let them untouched and can sense its painful truth, burning with the growing flames that was roaring over the past years.
The flowing of the water gradually ceased with the turning off the faucet and in reflex the person shook his masculine hands above the sink while drying away any remnants of the water. After placing the last clean plate on the kitchen cabinet he turned around to face the only habitant other than him sitting on the chair under the dining table where his chocolate eyes grew soft upon seeing her, while at the same time, her sapphire blues were admiring him lovingly watching his every move.
He arched an eyebrow with amusement while he sat himself opposite her and placed his hands on the table while slowly forming his words out his mouth,
"You know, there's this question that I wanted to ask you for so long.."
He watches as her sapphire eyes smiled along with the features shining off her radiant face. She now rested her cheek against the palm of her hand while answering back with her usual soft feather voice directing at him back with the playfulness, "What's stopping you then? I always keep standing next to you. I don't think it wasn't supposed to be that difficult to ask anything from that mouth of yours.."
He responded with a playful frown and twisted his mouth in sideways upon her indirect throw at him. "Apolozies for being late then.."
His heart felt like it being showered with gentle rain hypnotizing his senses on being wholly dedicating himself to her, while entertaining his ears with her soft cackle, full of life.
"Can I now?" He asked her while stifling a smile of his own and leaned back on his chair, crossing his broad shoulders covered up with the half sleeves of his t-shirt accompanying his grey loose bottoms.
The other person responded with a huge smile of her own along with a nod, watching intently at him with her alluring blue eyes.
He switched his position and leaned forward on his seat while resting his sharp jaw against the palm of his hand while his chocolate eyes caressing her every features of her face and a tiny smirk slowly lifted the corner of his mouth.
"Why is that, every time I'm in the middle of something, you always keep gazing at me..?" . He arched an eyebrow directing at her with intent on getting a suitable response from her.
Her mouth slowly twisted into a smirk and answered back with her usual playful tone, "Do you get affected by it..?"
Even though he could take note of her usual goofiness in her way of conversing, but he got slightly taken aback when in sudden being asked an intimate question. But he quickly composed himself and answered back, "I didn't say that though...it's just…" He paused for a moment.
His hands slowly latched with her hands placed on the table and the warmth hailing from them, generates a serenity within him. Her smile was still shining bright as ever with her deep blue sapphire eyes staring fondly at his chocolate eyes. A soft smile let itself visible on his facial features.
"it's just when I look at you, your eyes always seems to find me at every place. I don't know how you do that, but I don't think I would be able to endure being tamed with a growing anxiety if I ever find you stop seeking out for me…." He paused for a moment while slowly extracting his eye contact away from her striking sapphires and shuffle his head below running his eyes with the traces of line on the hard wood of the table.
He calmed down his senses while trying to take even breaths and internally counting backwards in his mind repeatedly. He was frightened and quite embarrassed upon displaying his current face in front of her and started muttering within himself, "I'm sorry ,sorry….She's here ..right here.. don't panic..be calm..be calm..she's looking at me..looking at me.."
He was clueless of the coldness that was surging dangerously from his hands and were trembling rapidly at an alarming pace until it suddenly diminished and felt a warm sensation rising steadily from the palm to his every finger chasing away any remnants of the coldness within them.
His head tilt to the front regarding a soft pale hand firmly cupped his hand using both her hands and his chocolate eyes turned towards to connect with her's beaming at him with a soft texture while her small brown tresses gently lays down on her forehead framing her beautiful face that synced with her everlasting smile.
"You are perfectly alright..Nothing's gonna happen, ok? You're gonna be just fine..." he can feel the soft rub on his knuckles from her thumb matching along with her calming voice that made him released a huge distress that was about to gobble him up.
"I'm right here..i'm just right here in front of you, …see..?" A gentle smile let a way out on his facial features while getting hold of her comforting words by heart. He let out a tiny nod in response.
"I'm not leaving you by any chance. And besides you are forever stuck with me anyways.." By hearing that, he let out a funny scoff and interlocked his other hand with them combining together their wedding bands, shining radiantly out of every piece of belonging which was proudly showcasing the love that was still continuing with a profound infinity between them.
"Then,…I shall let myself get stuck with you…yea..?" He exclaimed with a soft chuckle and let it widen upon seeing her cheeks puffed up with happiness and he could see the patches of red slowly forming upon a feather kiss on her knuckles successfully letting her blushing profusely.
"You didn't answer my question…" Even though he was slightly aware what her response would be, but being a stubborn curious cat, he was keen on hearing her say it.
She all of an instant stood up from her seat and pulled his hand with her that made him startle. They both started advancing towards the destination with her airy pace contrasting with his shuffling foot retracing her steps one by one.
"Where are we going?"
"You will see. Just keep following me"
He looks around himself and sees they were stopped at his parlor surrounding decent sofas accompanying various photo frames fixated on each walls with the small lanterns hanging high above their heads against the ceiling spreading a soft coziness around them. With confused mind, he turns his attention towards her who was roaming her eyes around the room watching in delight, especially at the numerous frames that were glancing back at them.
After a moment, her eyes gradually found him and were staring fondly back at him while grinning with her crinkles appearing in the corner of her eyes.
"This is where my heart belongs…"
A sparkling recognition hit deep in his chocolate eyes and slowly moved his head around to regard all the photo frames. There contained every bit of their moments spent in their every precious second, guarded securely behind the glasses that was purely indestructible. The semblance of the aura from them was so significantly influential that his throat tightened with an unidentified emotion and can feel little tears prickling at the corner of his eyes.
He suddenly brought back to reality when he felt a warm touch on his cheek and turns his attention back at her alluring eyes.
"No matter where you go, or what you do, I love watching you. Through the past years, I watched you grow up from the young goofy boy to a responsible man now who learned to take care of each and every little thing. It was quite entertaining seeing you fumble doing your things in your way but it was inspiring how you ascend again with your constant attitude of never backing down…"
He cannot help but let his eyes glistened with a profound emotion while cupping back her hand placed on his cheek and holding it firmly as if he would blink and would see her vanish from his sight any second. He was expecting few adoring words about him but this was taking a whole different way as his heart felt a tug from the immense admiration and respect and can see her sapphire eyes regarding him with pure compassion.
"How can you then not expect me to keep watching you every time… this is what's keeping me alive" A soft chuckle gradually found its way out her mouth that caused his lips turned into an affectionate smile.
He placed both his hands around her waist and pulled her with him in contact with his chest while their foreheads touched each other, undergoing several emotions with their closed eyes. He let a sigh in content and stood several moments in the same position without letting each other retreat. He slowly opened the seal of his sight and tilts his chocolate eyes to regard his wife standing there in the same position while her eyes were still closed with a faint smile on her face.
He fondly smiled while calling out her name in gentle voice, "May.."
With the call of her name, she gradually opened her eyes and tilt her head upwards regarding her husband in front of her showing off her radiant blues hurling with curiosity. She let out a hmm in response while still presenting a faint smile from her mouth.
"I love you..God..i love you so much" He exclaimed back with his chocolate eyes softly turning weak upon staring at her who in return provided a full wide smile and touched his forehead again while gently stood on her tiptoes.
"I know..and I know you love me as much as I love you.." she paused for a moment
"Maybe not more than I do though.." she added with amusement while giggling and touched the tip of his nose with hers feeling the sensations flowing around them.
"That's where you are wrong. Obviously no one can compete my love for you, even not you" He argued back playfully watching her cute tiny frown.
"Not any chance. You cannot love me more than I love you."
"Yes I can"
"No, you cannot" she stated with a fake stern tone that made him stifled a smile.
He eventually laughed when he knew he cannot argue any further. He was always her ear and she was his voice. He responded back with a light chuckle, "Fine, you win…as always."
May in return responded with her beaming smile.
"So it's final.." he paused for a moment when he made sure he has all her attention with her eyes blinking cutely at him that was expecting a positive result.
"I love you more than you love me"
She rolled her eyes in response but eventually succumbed to her laughter while exclaimed in between the fit of her soft giggles, "Ash.."
He chuckled out loud and they both gradually let themselves into each other's embrace circling around them with a dreamy aura fitting them both together in a bubble of their own that they shaped it from the devotion and strong emotion which was connecting them both.
It was strangely alluring, whenever they find themselves together their eyes only seek out for each other aside from the world that only follows the raven haired man within himself smiling dreamily without a care of anyone adjoining him.
His deep sapphires were admirably taking note of the white cotton puffs placing themselves on the top among the blues of the sky. He placed the magazine inside the seat pocket.
The 10 year old Kai didn't had any idea why his heart suddenly gained an interest on the pokemon contest weekly as he was more stuffed into battles than flaunting pokemon moves with styles which he remember his mother once been surrounded with a shower of gust from her Beautifly that according to him was quite peculiar but strangely interesting. But even then his heart couldn't hold it for long as he placed the magazine aside with a huff mentally being careful not wake his father that was dozing next to him.
A slow relaxed smile gradually formed on his lips after his eyes slowly capturing the beautiful view from high above. If the skies seem to be so magnificent from the view above, he won't hesitate to travel by air at any chance.
Several thoughts were hurling on his mind while he now started staring off space, 'I wonder how everyone is doing..' 'I'm sure Gengar would definitely not let them be in peace' . A silent laugh escaped from him with the thought of his Gengar being going to be handful for everyone.
"Hoenn, here I come", Kai muttered within himself as his eyes suddenly sparkled upon seeing a group of Dragonite flew past them and he swore one of them looked at him in the eye with a quick smile and went out his sight. A gentle smile slowly forms on his face accompanying his blue eyes smiling along with it. With that a content sigh escaped from his lips as he set himself relaxed on his seat and closed his eyes with a faint smile on his lip awaiting for the upcoming events that promises itself to change his life drastically.
