Chapter 8

Albus Dumbledore was seething.

He was sitting down at his desk in the Headmaster office and clutching the letter from Croaker in his hands.

"How did this get out? The little chit knew not to talk about it, Harry wouldn't either I am sure..." Albus mused out loud.

He knew perfectly well how dangerous entrusting the device to the muggleborn was, he had several angles for it. He needed to know how powerful she was, how obedient in following his rules and if the device caused a tear on her core that led to her death.. Well she was only a muggleborn, it didn't really matter.

The little chit was too smart of her own good, giving her this responsibility entrusted she felt indebted to him, getting rid of her at the same time would have been a nice bonus.

Losing access to the Department of Mysteries was a blow, but mostly losing the trust of Saul Croaker was bad.

He needed to come up with a way to win him back while discrediting the girl at the same time.

His work on making sure the young Harry was not believed had been a resounding success, it might make things easier if people had simply known and accepted the Dark Lord was back of course. However, an isolated and angry Harry was easily led and he had plans to tackle both the prophecy and the annoying godfather at the same time this year, he needed Harry to do the right thing.

He started writing down lists and plans he could use against the interfering little chit, getting her expelled and her wand snapped would be ideal. Did he want Harry to hate her, fueling his resentment and isolation, or did he want young Harry to be heartbroken and sad?

The death of the Diggory boy had been sad, but he had no choice really, Harry needed a tragic and traumatic story to bring back. Getting rid of Amos Diggory in his grief was a nice gift as well, he had been encroaching on his position in the Wizengamot for a while and needed to be put down a peg.

Nobody saw the bigger picture, nobody could fully understand he was acting for the Greater Good of the wizarding world!

All good leaders needed enemies he mused, Voldemort had been quite useful to counteract Tom back in the 70', violence and deaths are inevitable in times of war, Albus mused he was the only one to see things clearly.

From his point of view inside his painting above the Headmaster desk, Headmaster Black wondered how long before things started to catch up to Dumbledore, his oath to Hogwarts prevented him from saying anything, he had tried finding loopholes in the past without success but he did know he could access his other painting at Grimmauld Place and Dumbledore's lists and plans seemed to suggest this was the new headquarters of his Order, Headmaster Black decided to bid his time and start investigating this new development once the office was clear.
