It was only 2 whole month since Sonic finally left them alone.
They were relaxing and having a no Sonic free time.
Tails even invented a device to turn them invisible, that way Sonic can never see them.
But Knuckles sees Sonic had a concern look on his face.
He would ask him after their time is up.
But little did they know, that harsh talk they had was the very last time they had with him.
One night, the team was on their way to a firework show at the top of the hill. Eggman was sponsoring a firework supply there.
"Hahah! This is going to be fun." Tails said optimistically.
"Yeah." Amy said 'agreeing'.
"This is going to be loud." Sticks said while looking bored.
Knuckles was saying nothing. When they see Sonic, they turned invisible.
Luckily for them Sonic didn't see them.
He just passed by them. But Knuckles sees Sonic was a little depressed.
"Geez. I wish Knuckles would at least listen to me. I just wanted to tell him how I feel about him. Is it too much to ask?" Sonic said to himself but he didn't know Knuckles heard what he just say.
"What did he just say?" Knuckles asked himself quietly.
That was when he heard someone calling to Sonic before the blue hedgehog speeds to it.
"Okay he's gone. Let's go." Tails said.
But before anyone would go see, they looked to see an abandoned warehouse.
No doubt it was Eggman's firework warehouse or was it?
"Looks like Eggman has been having an old firework warehouse." Sticks said.
"Let's check it out." Tails suggested before him and the girls rushed to the warehouse.
Knuckles was the last of them to follow considering he looks at the direction Sonic went.
He chose to follow his friends rather than Sonic.
They see everything was covered in spider webs and dust.
Something was wrong, they looked around the warehouse and sees nothing but old fireworks.
That was when Amy accidentally sprung a trap and the warehouse exploded.
Knuckles vision was blur. He can see everything was blurry. Nothing but glowing fire, rubble, and silent forms laying there.
Then, everything went black.
