Chapter 10: Artemis
As I stepped into the arena I looked across and saw that Artemis was standing on the other side. To think she would be the first one to participate was definitely a shock. I strode forward as I saw she had her bow stung over her shoulder. As the bell rang I looked at her with a smile as she yelled at me with her hunters knife ready. As I take my sword out everyone is surprised as the crowd cheers. I smile and cheekily say. "Well milady should we get this started." Without warning Artemis dashed in at full speed with her hunters knife coming close to my face as I just barely managed to get myself out of the way. My years of combat experience come into use as I roll to one side landing on my back foot. "Wow, that is some blinding speed, maybe I should take this seriously." At this I spring forward, slashing downwards as I twirl My body elegantly to plant a spinning kick on her midsection. The sudden action catches her by surprise as she is sent a couple feet back. She coughs up a small amount of ichor as she stares at me with deadly eyes. "Well I am surprised Percy I never thought you would be that resourceful but that doesn't mean this is gonna be easy." She smirks as she tosses her knife in the air. I get into a ready stance trying to anticipate what will happen, as she takes her bow out and launches an arrow at the knife. As soon as the arrow hits the knife it shoots in my direction at light speed. Luckily with my powers over time I manage to slow it down just enough to dodge the arrow. The tip grazing my cheek as I start to bleed ichor as well. I whipped the ichor away as I looked and said, "neat trick I know now this is gonna be one fun contest." She stares at me again, her resolve still fierce as she states. "Yeah, bring it on Percy." She pointed her bow to the sky as she shot a massive volley into the air. I prepare for the barrage as I sprint to one side dodging every arrow as I close the distance. I quickly turn on my heels pushing myself forward as she shoots 5 arrows in my direction. With a couple of swift cuts I deflect each arrow. My body moving at speeds I haven't felt in forever as I jump over her dodging her slash. Just as I am about to catch her in the back a second knife appears from her other hand as she parries my strike in one movement. I step back and start blocking as she comes at me with both knives striking with precision as she continues her onslaught. With each strike I get pushed more and more as I strike and catch Artemis in the shoulder. She howls a bit in pain as she grasps her shoulder. She looks at me and screams bursting into her true form. As the light calmed down her injury was cured and she was standing bathed in silver light as the arena was now covered with a dense forest. The rest of the gods look in awe as the battlefield Is completely obscured to their view. I think to myself that this is a massive issue because she is now in her domain so she would be strong when a familiar voice chimed in. "Remember hero, I gave you my blessing to use the shadows to your advantage. Oh and a tip when block a strike next time let go of your sword you will see something special happen." That was Nyx I thought to myself as I saw the shadows made by the trees and an idea came to mind. Being that Artemis would think that she would be at an advantage, the hidden ability of shadows would come into play. I try to move as I hear Artemis's voice from behind. She yells through the trees. "Don't try to hide Percy. You are in my domain
now. No one can hide from me when I am on the hunt." At this an arrow comes through the bush as it pierces my shoulder. The pain feels indescribable as I try to sense where the voice is coming from. I needed to lick out the right moment to use my ability since I would only get one chance to pull it off. Another arrow comes at me as I manage to see it coming and block it as the follow up hits the tree where I was just standing. "wow you have gotten very good. I praise you but you won't escape this time." I realize it's an ambush as I concentrate to slow down time enough to see where she was coming from. As I let go of the ability I slip into the shadow of the massive tree as I pop up behind her. I bring my sword down as her eyes reveal shock. She whirled around and caught my blade between her two knives. As the swords were in a struggle for power I remembered what Nyx had told me. I let my blade go. As my hands came off of me the star pattern came off of the sword as it turned into a full scythe. Artemis looks in shock as she tries to pull back but is too late. I swing the galaxy styled scythe clearing the forest and blowing up a massive amount of dust into the air. All the gods stood up to see the results of the bout. When the dust settled I was standing as Artemis was on the floor, her armor in tatters as I held my galaxy scythe and riptide in hand. Everyone cheered as Order stood up and announced. "and the winner of the first round of the tournament is Percy." I stood and walked over to Artemis As I extended my hand. "That was a nice match. It was an honor." She took my hand as she smiled and said. "Yeah it was a very nice match." With that she turned to Order as he spoke. And now it is time for the rewards from Artemis. At this I see Artemis blush wondering what will happen next.
