The night came and went, and soon enough the sun was gracing the cool morning sky. Sonic zoomed across the city, Tails had texted him his home address sometime that night and Sonic was absolutely determined to meet up with the fox for a day of fun. The hedgehog slid to a steady stop in front of the wooden door, knocking enthusiastically. Moments later, the familiar golden fox opened it, beaming. "Hey Sonic."

"Heya!"

"Got any plans?" Tails asked as he exited his home, closing the door behind him as the two began walking down the dirt path.

"There's a new ice cream restaurant having its grand opening in an hour, I figured we could go there and then maybe visit the fair or something."

"Ice cream for breakfast?" Tails questioned.

"Uh, er, I mean-"

The fox giggled, his voice and his warm smile melted Sonic's beating heart. "Hehe, I'm not complaining, sounds like fun! Issss the fair even open, though?"

Sonic blushed and looked away, biting his lip. Tails noticed, a curious expression painting his features. "Um yeah, it's open, they're celebrating valentine's day, since ya know, that's coming up in a week!"

Tails let out a breath as he watched his companion, a blush touched his cheeks as he felt a bit giddy inside.

"Ghshh I mean like, fun is fun right?" Sonic chuckled nervously, Tails could hear the anxiety in his voice.

"Yup! Sounds like a lot of fun, let's go!"

Sonic watched as Tails smiled wide, the morning sun glinted off of his shiny honied coat. Sonic gaped, soon enough a wide grin split his face. "Heheh, you wanna get there fast?"

Tails bit his lip, looking at the long walk they had in front of them. "Yeah sure, I don't see why n-" Tails gasped as the hedgehog swooped him up in his arms, holding him bridal style before rushing off to their destination. The speedy hero left a blue streak behind him as he ran.

"Mint? Ew!" Sonic stuck out his tongue.

"It's not that bad!" Tails' cheeks puffed out as he crossed his arms, his fluffy twin tails swishing in agitation.

"Eeugh! That's like toothpaste ice cream! You're eating toothpaste, Tails!"

The two sat on a fancy patio outside of a small ice cream shop, a large red banner was draped across the front of the building that read "Grand Opening". The fox and the hedgehog were at a delicate glass table as they enjoyed their frozen treats. Tails blew a raspberry, clenching his eyes shut as his nose wrinkled.

There was silence, then Sonic snorted and tried to hold back his chuckling.

"What?" Tails asked, looking incredulous.

"Hnshkk nothin', you're just cute when you try to look angry."

Tails nearly choked on his spoon, his cheeks rapidly growing hot. "W-well y-you're!-" He couldn't come up with a retort, his fur bristled and he somehow became even fluffier.

Sonic's chuckling died down, Tails having found his own smile at the hedgehog's giggles. The two were once again looking into each other's eyes.

"Tails... I-"

"HEY SONIC~!"

Now it was Sonic's turn to choke on his ice cream, he quickly turned and the two boys noticed a bubblegum colored hedgehog in a hot pink dress with white polka dots pranced up to them.

"A-Amy?" Tails asked, but the girl completely ignored him.

"That was rad what you did at the party last night! Hey, so some of the girls and I wanted to know if you'd come shopping with us~!" She placed her peach skinned arms on the table, her glittering emerald eyes blinking twice showing off her luscious eyelashes. She smelt like watermelon with a hint of vanilla, Tails actually leaned back as the sudden wave of perfume was a bit too much for him.

"Actually-" Tails began, but the words died in his throat as Amy leaned closer to Sonic, she had not even looked at the poor fox. Right, I'm invisible. He thought to himself, glancing at Sonic nervously.

"I uh, I-" Sonic stuttered out, not sure how to respond.

"COME ON~!" The fem hedgie squealed as she gently tugged at Sonic's arm, pulling him half way out of the seat. Finally the blue speedster had had enough.

"No!" Sonic barked, catching both Tails and Amy by surprise, the former jumping in his seat.

"W-What? Why noooot?" The girl whined, the act very unbefitting of her age.

"Because, I'm already hanging out with my friend here." Sonic gestured to Tails, who blinked curiously.

"Huh?" And for the first time in his life, Amy looked at Tails the fox. She stared, her mouth slowly dropped open and hung like that. Then she swallowed, bit her lip, and her ears folded back. "Oh... I'm sorry! I didn't see you there!" Her attitude had changed dramatically. "Hi! My name is Amy Rose-" The pink hedgehog did a twirl. "-And I am Sonic's number one fangirl! It's so nice to meet you, miss?"

"Uh... T-Tails." The fox responded, giving a weak smile.

"Nice to meet you, Tails!" Amy grabbed his hand and shook it, Tails' suddenly learning how tight her grip was. "Well anyways, my bad~! I'll be on my way now, enjoy your ice cream, you two~!" She did a pose where she stood on one leg and held her hands up to her head, two fingers stood on each hand as she winked and stuck her tongue out. Then she bolted off, her long quills swaying in the wind. Both boys were mildly uncomfortable.

"Ssoo uhm..." Sonic fidgeted. "You wanna ditch this joint and go straight to the fair? We can bring our ice cream." There was a pause, and Sonic gulped. "Even your gross mint-chocolate madness..." The hedgehog smiled wearily, Tails slowly turning to him as his brow furrowed.

Then, the fox whispered. "Did she just call me miss?"
