Be ready for some heavy character drama. Near half way done on the Arc 1 itself!

Overall, I hope you guys like this story more. And hopefully this will gain 1,000 views when reaching half way...

Also, I have my AO3 profile available if those who want to read my ported stuff here. (Cosmo_Writer is my title in AO3)

Flames and smoke spread out, the remaining Red Axis are now patrolling the ruins of the abandoned islands. Time has passed since the battle between Enterprise and Orochi... Dusk is coming... As Kaga walks on the water, with others looking around. Ayanami and Nimi are close beside her, looking around as well.

Then Nimi noticed a lurking shadow from the large smoke. "Kaga..." She calls out, pointing in the direction. Zuikaku and Shoukau arrive to see this. And the white haired fox kitsune gazes at it...

There it is... Orochi itself, the armor looks very beaten up. Dents, bents, and scratches marked all over its body, top to bottom. However, no matter the look it still stands, without the eyes, no one can tell its expression. Its visor reflects Kaga's appearance, as it walks to her, not even a slight sight of limping.

"..." Kaga stares at Orochi, then turns to Graf Zeppelin who is nearby, "We must return to base. Orochi is damaged." She stated.

"What of Grey Ghost?" Graf Zeppelin mentioning Enterprise, "She is still out there... And with that same power from before..." She reminded her.

"What will not be a problem, not when we have Orochi..." Kaga responded, with the same stern tone in her voice. "They have suffered another loss due to the second's incompetence." She stated. "We must go, now." She walks back, passing Zeppelin as Orochi follows.

Graf Zeppelin gazes at her, but no words spoken, she follows up to her, "Kawakaze is nowhere to be found..." She spoke again.

"She won't reveal anything." Kaga suspects that Kawakaze is caught by the Azur Lane. As she is stating this, Graf remains silent again. Everyone else, besides Ayanami and Nimi head off, as the last two gazes at the destroyed islands, caused by the battle. Before they join the others...

Somewhere outside the islands, on the other side... A heavily wounded Enterprise walks slowly, her injured leg limping on the surface. Her hair is singed by the flames, same with her clothes. Her expression shows great pain, not only sorrow... But rage... As her once yellow glowing eyes turn back into normal violent eyes, it remains dull...

In a dark room, Kawakaze is tied up in a chair, steel chains, many of them wrapped tightly on her legs, waist, arms, hands, and even neck... Her glare remains at the front, which is Xavier himself... He is also sitting on a chair, legs crossed and arms as well.

"...You're gonna have to tell us about the Red Axis." Xavier stated.

"..." Silence was her reaction, she glanced away, not giving a straight look at him.

He glares at her closer, "You don't want to talk... Fine, allow me to reduce the silence..." He leans back on the chair, "You're Kawakaze, a Shiratsuyu-class, Sakura Empire Destroyer." He remarked. "Now you are a skilled warrior, with the memories of World War 2 such as the battle of Tarakan... Java Sea... Midway..."

"Your repeated stall won't do anything." Kawakaze grunted, so she finally spoke. Her impatient tone showed as Xavier noticed and predicted.

"And so you speak." Xavier replied. "Tell me, how do you expect this plan to go well for the Red Axis, is going against everyone the best choice?" He questioned her. "Surely, this is an illogical choice, notably a idiotic move."

Her glare remains strong, "As if you can be the better lead..." She speaks with distaste in her voice. "What chances of victory can you lead with your pathetic leadership?"

"The Azur Lane is incomplete, by your actions. Your faction has led distraught into the disadvantage." Xavier responded back.

"With the power of Orochi, such loss has never been suffered. You lost us with a fraction of the power we possess." Kawakaze rebuked. Her slight anger shifted the chains around her, but Xaveir remained not flinched by this sheer strength of her. "You should give up, you have already lost."

"Not when your faction has the risk of Siren technology." Xavier stated.

"So you are making this futile..." She refuted.

"It is your duty to protect humanity, not make yourselves the Sirens." He scoffed. "What happens when you win the battle at the cost of yourselves, you'd face humanity again." Silence occurs from her, he speaks more, "What do you think would happen if you go this far...?" He asked.

"...Why do you speak about our worries, when your voice doesn't care..." She seethed. Xavier remains unchanged by her question, "I see it now... Just as Akagi and Kaga spoke." She muttered. "You prove why humanity has corrupted so much... Like the old days, when Commander was the only light of this darkness."

Unfazed by her response. He says, "So that's what it is... The past... " He then chuckles with a hint of madness, then stares emotionlessly. "That... Annoys me."

"..." Kawakaze glared at his mocking words.

"It's really sad how those who are getting attached would lead this far..." Xavier grunted, crossing his arms. "It's truly pitiful."

"Mngh!" Kawakaze grunted, angered by his words, but the chains kept her stuck.

"Hm. And there you go, angry." Xavier remarked at her current attitude. "You are really trying to make things worse aren't you?" He rhetorically questioned.

"Mock all you want, at least I am not a heartless monster." Kawakaze scoffed.

"Fine, stay there." He stood up, expression unchanged. He leaves the room and opens the door, there outside he closes the door. Besides him waiting outside, Cleveland is there along with Eagle, Sheffield, and Jeanne d'Arc in guard.

"She didn't say anything, did she?" Cleveland wondered, as there were previous interactions with their captive.

"Same as always." Xavier replied. "Now... About the Cube..." He reminded.

In the Commander's Office, Xavier is there with the White Wisdom Cube contained with an opened tech box. Reno, Cooper, Ingraham, Aleen M. Summer, and Bristol are there as well, analyzing the cube with direct contact.

All of them looked not assumed working on the anomaly item. Others are waiting nearby, such as Javelin and Laffey who the latter is sleeping on the couch. There is Richelieu, Béarn, Queen Elizabeth, Warspite, Yat Sen, Rossiya, and Avrora standing by. Meanwhile Prince of Wales, Belfast, Sirius and Dido are on guard near the door, however they still watch by...

Time passed, minutes felt like hours, as Ingraham groaned in frustration, Reno looked genuinely disappointed, then the rest were looking stumped at this thing. "So far, we haven't found anything..." Ingraham stated.

"Huh?!" Queen Elizabeth exclaimed. "But this Wisdom Cube I've heard has cost us a loss and this is what we get?!" Those who know the battle are reminded by the mention of Hornet's fate. She is taken to the medical bay with Hood. And what hurts for some... Yorktown was truly devastated by this... She was sobbing for a while with Hammann trying to support her.

"We are trying!" Bristol angrily pouted, shaking her arms rapidly. " This thing is hard!"

"It's like nothing's in there." Reno added with a frown. "It's way different from other Wisdom Cubes..."

"It's like a shiny treasure chest that has nothing in it!" Allen M Summer whined.

"But it's glowing white?" Javelin wondered.

"Yeah..." Cooper nodded as she was holding a magnifying glass slightly waving around. "We should give it to the Higher Ups..." She suggested.

"No. If we tell them about this, the situation will get worse." Xavier reminded her, while his arms crossed.

"But... Commander..." Cooper winced, "We can't really figure this out..." She said, as others looked at him, waiting for more advice...

"So 'Commander'..." Queen Elizabeth huffing, crossing her arms that looks like a fake intimation compared to Xaiver's. "Already we have gained nothing, so what do you purpose we do? Lose more of us?" She asked, with distaste in her voice.

"Your Majesty?" Belfast perked by her sudden latter comment. Prince Of Wales winced a bit due to recalling Hood.

"Ah, forgive myself, Belfast." Queen Elizabeth still remained in her infuriated state, glancing at her then glaring at Xavier. "But so far, we haven't done anything! How are we gonna solve this situation!?" She exclaimed. "If our previous Commander can-"

"Stop." Xavier was irritated by her words, that tone made everyone gain their attention on him. "I am not like your previous Commander." He seethed. "I am not trying to be the first Commander..."

Just then the door opens with a sudden slam that deafens them, they all look to see someone familiar... Outside are other girls such as Charles Ausburne, Wasp, Unicorn, Illustrious, and so much more that they were listening to the conversation. But there are new arrivals such as Le Terrible, Le Triomphant, and others that are here due to the fact... Enterprise arrived.

Her arrival caused others to follow her, she seemed to ignore them seeing Xavier himself, she walked to him slowly.

"Enterprise?" Belfast is shocked to see her arriving, as Edniburgh, who was the new arrival to the office, speaks up.

"She just arrived here! And..." Edinburgh tries to explain the situation, but what comes next... Enterprise swings a slap right at Xavier's face. The loud smack and how the sheer strength knocks him a slight distance, gained a shock from even everyone who sees this, as gasps indicated.

"Commander!" Javelin yelled as Laffey woke up by the sudden yell. She rushes to him who slowly winces, rubbing his cheek. Xavier looks up, slightly surprised by Enterprise's arrival and action...

Belfast widened her eyes by the mere scene, seeing that Enterprise in her damaged state was still coming to him and Javelin... She, along with Edinburgh, and the maid guards Sirius and Dido made their move in unison, quickly restraining her. That led to Grey Ghost to go ballistic on her movements struggling to let go of their grips.

"YOU ARE THE WORST!" Enterprise yelled, her eyes are a bit red as her voice cracks during her lash. "YOU DID THIS TO HORNET!" She tries to break the grip.

"Enterprise!" Belfast tries to settle her down, as the other maids still hold their grip.

"You must calm down!" Edinburgh worried, calling out to Enterprise.

"IT'S YOUR FAULT! I... Wish... You disappear..." Enterprise gasped, before she fainted due to her state.

"..." Silence occurs... Hearing her voice of rage and exhaustion. Xavier stood up, despite Javelin's support he shook it off, much to her worry. He felt his cheek greatly sore, red and purple with bruises, even marked a bleeding scratch, as blood leaks a bit.

"...Commander?" Javelin nervously spoke out.

"All of you... Leave." He demanded with an emotionless tone. This takes Javelin aback by his command.

Avrora notices the tone, and she speaks to Rossiya. "Leader... We must." She advises.

Rossiya is silent, but nodding to her message, she leaves as Avrora follows. Everyone else suddenly moves, Reno, Copper, Bristol, Allen, and Ingraham are notably looking even more worried. Wales sees this, she is conflicted when hearing this, as Eagle came in from the outside of the office and guided her before she acted.

The maids take the unconscious Enterprise away. Javelin and Laffey are the last ones leaving, Laffey is notably confused but seeing Javelin's worries, she tries not to speak, especially hearing Commander's tone.

One glance... Then Javelin and Laffey left the office. However the two and those who remain outside are still waiting. The maids have to take Enterprise to the medical bay...Yat Sen has a worried expression while Queen Elizabeth looks troubled and scared, while Warspite is slightly serious but concerned. Unicorn hides behind Illustrious even more as other children who are curious are scared by this as well, Ranger is trying to comfort them.

Javelin leans a bit at the door quietly, placing her ear onto it. Trying to listen...

Inside the office, Xavier stands there, not holding his bruise at his cheek. He turns back to the window, his mind is laughing... Maniacally... First the capture, he recalled when he was brought by the Admiral... Then this...

Oh, very clever for the Admiral, trying to waste his life on this base, why did he accept? What can he contribute to this?! His thoughts race in rage, his fists clenched. This... This must be some sick joke for the Admiral, it has to be... Just what did he expect this to happen?! Oh how he wishes he should not have enrolled... Why did he mention her... He would have refused the role... That 'letting go' was probably another lie...

As he saw the White Wisdom Cube, he went and grabbed it with his bare hand compared to the recent mission. Glaring at the cube, he attempted to throw it... But the cube glows brighter, he stopped to see the white glow brighten up, engulfing the entire room!

Javelin was trying to listen, but heard nothing, until the sudden white glow leaked out of the holes of the door. She jumped back, gaining everyone's reaction by this. Knowing the Commander is there... She panicked and quickly opened the door! However...

The Commander is gone. And so is the Wisdom Cube...

Eyes opened, silver colored gazed around the pure white void... Xavier looks around, all over and beneath his feet standing over nothing...

What just happened...? His thoughts pondered, he walked around the empty space. No progress, nothing to indicate if he ever was moving... He stopped, then an instinct occurred as he turned around, just to see a door. A simple wooden door... That is familiar...

Nowhere to go... He goes forward, grabs the knob and turns... A click, he opens the door...

He sees what's on the other side... A room, but not just any random room. A simple bed, a large desk filled with machinery from small to medium sizes with no sense of order of display. A headlamp simply shines on the desk table of blueprints...

"This place..." Xavier mutters at this familiar place, then small steps occur inside. It can't be... He touches the blueprints on the desk, feeling a small layer of dust remained, shined by the lamp.

"Hey, little brother..." A female voice spoke from behind. And Xavier recognized it... He slowly turns what's behind him... A lady, slightly shorter by an inch, short but wavy hair, same as his hair color, along with her silver eyes and fair skin all have the same traits as his... He knows who she is...

Xena... His older sister... And is a veteran of the Navy as him... But... "No... You should not be here..." He muttered aloud.

Xena giggled at his remark, "What do you mean, little brother?" She asked, with a hint of innocence.

She is not alive... He knows that, he says further, "I know this is some sort of illusion." He sternly replied.

She chuckles again, "Alright, you are smarter than you little brother." Finally giving adminace, she lets go of her curious tone. "But it's still good to see you..." She smiled.

But he still isn't convinced, "Stop playing with me." He gritted, "You're not supposed to be alive..." Xavier stated.

Xena sighed, "You're right, I am not, but I am here. To tell you something about the role of Commander..."

"...What are you saying?" Xavier questioned.

"Where did he go!?" Javelin exclaimed looking around the office in a panicked state. She continues to search despite no trace of him nor the cube.

"It's like a light shined the vanish..." Avrora muttered in concern.

Just then Cleveland and others arrived as well, "What just happened?!" She exclaimed.

"Commander's missing!" Reno worried.

"Huh? How did that happen?!" Cleveland is shocked to hear the sudden news.

"When Enterprise arrived..." Prince Of Wales spoke, but her voice tone was a bit low. "She blamed the Commander about..." She paused as Cleveland knew what she mentioned... The maids took her..." She knows she needs to change back to the main topic. "Now he's gone along the Wisdom Cube we took from the island base."

"And worst of all..." Reno whimpered. "We have found nothing on the cube."

"...How...?" Cleveland whispered.

"We don't know..." Ingraham shook her head, as she looked sad. "To think such a Wisdom Cube managed to do that..."

"Let's just find where the Commander is..." Béarn stated.

Queen Elizabeth coughs to gain attention, "As much as I don't want to halt this search and rescue..." She spoke with slight tension. "But as I mentioned, the Commander here isn't so called, helpful to us..."

"..." Prince Of Wales remains quiet as for everyone...

"I don't care..." Javelin stated, gaining everyone's attention as she looked brave. "We have to help him... Commander... He's just like us!" She stated.

"Huh?" Queen Elizabeth perked by her words.

"She's... Right." Wales spoke up for Javelin, "We need to know more about the Commander and why he's like this." She replied. "He's got something that he's been hiding from us..."

"Indeed..." Warspite agreed, leading Queen Elizabeth turns to her. "Ever since the Council mentioned the Second Commander, they have informed us that his files are destroyed by himself..." She noted.

"Like how the First Commander was... A mystery." Avrora reminded them.

"Since he destroyed them..." Wales stated. "We must find out why... Which is why I must go to the mainland base to speak to the Admiral..." She walks to leave.

"The Admiral?" Queen Elizabeth questioned.

"Yes, he has changed since then and kept secrets from his own council before." Wales explained as she stopped. "If he knows him... He is the answer."

"..." Elizabeth sighed. "Fine! I'll send you some escorts, and you better make sure you don't tell anyone but him about the mission we are dealing with." She mentioned.

Wales nodded, "As you wish, your majesty..." She gives a small bow as she leaves.

"Alright... Let's just find him now!" Elizabeth yelled with determination, thus they all left the office to try to look for him...

"What I am saying... You need to stop being so grumpy..." Xena gives a small teasing but comforting smile, crossing her arms.

"...You always somehow love to tone down serious discussions." Xavier grunted, crossing his arms back. As the two stand in front of each other in the room.

Her smile drops as she lowers her arms. "It's for your own good..." She was worried.

"Good of what? Trying to continue this pointless mission?" Xavier scoffs as he walks off, but the room around him rips apart like paper revealing the white void. He stopped, slightly surprised, before turning to his older sister who's still standing.

"...Are you implying that I died in vain?" She questioned him.

Meanwhile on the mainland base, Prince Of Wales along with York and Exeter arrives at the dock of the mainland base. She goes to one of the soldiers speaking this request. "I must speak with the Admiral..."

"...Yes." Xavier concluded, but her reaction didn't gain a gasp as she stared. He sighed, before going somber on his tone before speaking... "Ever since you died in this war... I..." He paused, closing his eyes, clenching his fists... "I've been lost, not knowing where to seek... I learned that nothing can change what has happened, just needing to get this done. Now that the Red Axis are chasing a mere dream... Something that can't be grown or changed. And if you deny this, you're merely looking at a fantasy. Nothing lasts forever...And evil like them won't just go away... They always keep hurting us all... And... War changes us."

"..." Silence was all that he heard. Just as he was about to respond... "I get it." She responded sadly. This perked him up upon seeing her sad, for the first time... "We are facing such an inevitable." She admitted. "And you are right about evil, however... Just because there will always be evil does not mean you cannot stop them."

"...I don't get it... How are you like this? Happy and determined to chase a dream to end the war with a smile..." Xavier questioned in disbelief.

"I could ask you a different question, you chose to become Commander... You are willing to stop the Sirens. Why?" She stated.

"To end this war. If the Azur Lane is gone, the world is gone with me in it." Xavier explained simply..

"...I don't believe you." Xena stated.

"What?" He perked up.

"You could've let someone else take the role..." She explained. "But you accepted it."

"Because of my skills only they choose me." Xavier countered. "This is just a coincidence."

"...You're afraid." Xena concluded. "Not wanting to lose your ideals..."

"!" Xavier is taken back by this answer. "Did you not hear what I said!?" He exclaimed. "My ideals have nothing to do with this! Red Axis are following a mission they cannot achieve, only hurting themselves more! War has changed them to a darker path, their action will be in vain!"

"No... But you are there for the Azur Lane to not give up on their path." Xena replied.

"They are what they are. They are warriors defending us, I have done nothing to change their mind." Xavier crossed his arms.

"And you are here, doing the right thing by still helping them find a way to stop Red Axis without bloodshed." Xena added.

"For a realistic reason." Xavier refuted. "Half the fleet gone, Sirens would win."

"And you called this mission pointless..." Xena recalled.

"Because it's now falling apart. Enterprise just mistrusts me and others are questioning my leadership." He rebuked.

"You don't believe that." She replied.

"I don't believe, I know it's gonna happen..." He stated.

"So you say... Then might as well forget me, you told me my death is in vain." Xena stared at him.

"..." He wanted to say it, but seeing her disapproving look from her...

She notices his conflicted expression, she sighed, "Xavier, little brother... Do you have to keep distancing yourself, you think that will heal you? Pushing away is not how we are still standing." She questioned him. "And don't give me the bullshit realist crap."

"Then what can I do...? What can I possibly do?!" Xavier demanded her to answer as his tone was disrupted. "How can I face a war that is ready to take away everything I hold onto!? What changes do you want me to make, besides the ones I have?!"

"...The change you need... Is to be stronger." Xena answered.

"..." Xavier hears the words of hers... "To be... Stronger? How can I...?" He asked. "I cannot carry this burden..."

"You are aware life cannot be easy..." Xena explained as she went up to him closer. "You said war leads to bad changes... It's true." She then embraces him with a hug... "But that's not how you will change, to hide your emotions, your struggles... You will do better, by promising yourself to change into something stronger... Hope."

"Hope...?" He muttered due through the hug.

"Yes... You inspired the girls from Azur Lane to search for you despite your words, they are aware of your troubles..." Xena lets go of the hug and turns to view something... Xavier follows her sight seeing something...

At the base, the Admiral is in his office with Wales, York and Exeter. After hearing their request and explanation, he nodded.

"Okay." He gets up and opens his shelf showing the file of Xavier himself. "Here it is." He hands it to them.

Wales nodded with thanks, she opened as York and Exeter joined the gaze, their curious expressions changed from serious and shock, then... Somber... The Admiral sympathizes with their reactions upon seeing his history...

And Xavier saw that... Through the void a sight of the scene as the girls here, reading his story... He looked, conflicted, not knowing what to do...

Xena notices, speaking to interrupt his struggle, "They know what you went through, something they had gone through before..." She said, as he turned to her, gaining his attention. "Not only hope inspired them to go this far... But, unity itself."

"Unity..." He murmured.

"Hope and unity, two things that you must learn..." Xena said as she showed another vision of the Azur Lane searching for him through their own base... Javelin, Laffey, and many more... "Your separation became their greatest strength to at least unite to gain hope." She remarked. "This is a good change..."

"...So hope and unity is our strength to continue through this war of change..." He spoke as if he discovered them as his first philosophies... "And what if I failed?" He questioned her.

"...You can never fail, due to never being alone..." She whispered softly. "Just... Promise me..." He widens his eyes with her words... Right now... He cannot remind himself that this is just a mere hallucination... This... Is a real deal... "Promise that you will become stronger, keep trying, because you chose to."

"...I promise." He nodded slowly.

Xena smiled, "I know you can do this, and this time, I will be there." She summoned the same White Wisdom Cube from before at her palm placing it on his hand.

Then a bright white flash of light emitted around the cube, engulfing them both.

His silver eyes opened up, he looked around to see everything around himself... A cave... What cave is this? He wondered, he shook his current thoughts, knowing he knows what must be done...

Then he noticed a Wisdom Cube before it was in his hand, he put it in his inner jacket pocket. He walks around to see where he is located... Only to see a certain figure afar from the open cave entrances... Myoukou! She's standing in guard as he quickly hides behind the rock wall, luckily she did not notice him.

A Sakura Empire Kansen... That could lead one answer where he was... He's teleported inside of the Red Axis' base...

Word Count - 4292

A massive development for the Second Commander here. Hopefully that change can be good in story wise, as I do not want to rush the character change and its motivation. Hopefully this will explore the Commander himself and who and how he is today.

With that, stay tune for the next chapter...

{Special Note}

People mentioned me about Naver changing Wattpad... Here is my thoughts... I don't care much about it. It's like I already have my stories on other Fanfic sites like and AO3, so I have nothing serious impacting my fanfic profile.

It's like Funimation and Crunchyroll combining, it's not a big problem to the guy who uses both services. Okay, that is done, cya for the next time!
