tomdarryecs: lol Kurt is in denial for sure. We are going to wrap everything up in the next three chapters! Thank you!
MaricaChapter2: thank you so much :) we will pick up with Mercedes in this chapter! There will definitely be some angst soon! Don't want to give too much away!
Iris7124: yes, he's pretty delusional, but we know he can't resist Blaine. :) you will definitely find out more about Dave's plans in this chapter!
This is the last singular chapter before we post the last three. They will be two full chapters and a short epilogue. It was only supposed to be one, but it got too big and we spilt it. We just didn't want to post a cliff hanger and make every wait a whole week. :)
Kurt was enraged, his vision black and red. All he could hear was the screams and the wind whistling shrilly and the pounding of his own heart. His mind played a constant reel of "I love you" and a knife to his throat. Then so much blood. The hatred in his lover's eyes. He had been fooled. He would never be happy. He would never trust anyone with his heart ever again.
He reached out his hand and slashed. Down came a corner of a roof and more screams sliced through the air. The wind blew dust and debris into his path. He saw the tailor shop he used to marvel at. At one time he thought of all the lovely things he could make if he was given the chance. Now he only wanted to destroy. So he did. The window shattered and blew out with a blast of green lightning. Inside he heard a muffled cry, but he moved on. He saw his family's cottage. It had fallen apart, helped along by the villagers destroying it and defiling it. It was another log on the fire of his rage. There was a pasture dotted with cows close by. Part of the Karofsky herd if he wasn't mistaken. Perfect. He turned his ire to them and watched their heads separate from their bodies one by one.
"Hummel!" A hoarse voice pierced the night. He knew this voice.
Kurt turned slowly to face him. It used to be only a few years ago that that voice would invoke terror in him. Now it only filled him with gleeful anticipation at seeing his suffering.
Dave Karofsky stood in front of him in his nightclothes, fists clenched by his sides. The red of his eyes and tear tracks stood out against the dirt smudged on his face.
Kurt smiled wickedly and stepped towards him, thrilling inside when he stumbled back in fear. "Why, Dave," he said, his voice dripping with sweetness. "I didn't wake you, did I?"
Karofsky bared his teeth like a beast. "You killed my mother! Now you've killed them both, murderer! Bleeder! What spell will their bones and blood make?"
Kurt had no intention of performing dark magic, but he couldn't resist repaying Karofsky for the cruelty done to him all those years. "Oh, don't you worry. I have great plans for them. I still have your father's organs in jars and now I have blood from your mother. It's so much fun! Shame they had to die, though."
Karofsky screamed in rage and pain. He must really believe him. "You'll pay for this!" He spat as he pointed at Kurt. "Mark my words! I will never rest until I have your blood on my hands! You hear me? I will take everything you love and destroy it! Then I will relish in killing you!"
Kurt laughed in his face. The more angry Karofsky became, the funnier it was. He knew if he wasn't able to burn him to ash, Karofsky would have attacked him by now and beat him. No more of that. Never again. "I hope you come for me. I invite it, Davey. I will wait until you have wrapped your hands around my throat and then I will rip a hole in you bigger than the one I made in your father. Fuck you. Fuck this village. I will burn it to the ground."
"You won't get the chance," Karofsky said, the fury in his eyes turning to malicious delight.
His body grew along with his teeth. Fur sprouted in patches along his body. Claws burst from his hands and he swelled up into the sky until he was a giant monster. He laughed, deep and guttural showing off sharp fangs as he reached behind him and picked up a body. It was battered and bloody, but it's chest still rose. Could it be his father? Could he somehow still be alive? No, he had died years ago. That didn't make sense.
The monster that was previously Karofsky shook the body and it's head lolled back along with an arm that dangled uselessly. Kurt's heart stopped when he saw the dark curls and the crusted dark blood that coated his hands.
"I told you I would destroy what you loved!" the monster growled deep. He shook Blaine again. "He begged me for your life, you know! He cried and his last words were that he loved you!" Dave laughed cruelly. "How could something disgusting like you fool someone as beautiful as him into falling in love with you?" He shook Blaine again until he coughed up more blood.
"Stop!" Kurt screamed as his eyes burned with tears. "Stop! He's still alive and you're hurting him!"
Dave's glowing eyes flashed. "So you do love him?" He laughed again and it shook the earth.
Kurt fell to his knees. "I…"
"How delicious…" Dave opened his jaws wide and dropped Blaine inside.
"NOOOOOOO!"
Kurt's eyes shot open. He was drenched in sweat and his heart was galloping in his chest. It took him quite a few moments to convince himself that he wasn't in the village that night when he went to destroy them all. That had been years ago when he was sixteen after his lover betrayed him and tried to kill him. He was an adult now. He had traded vicious words with Dave, but he hadn't turned into a monstrous beast and killed… his heart hammered again after he had just calmed it down. He scrubbed at his face, refusing to recall the terrible end of the nightmare again or work out what it meant.
A head resting on his chest moved, the messy curls tickling his chin and his beard scratching his sternum. Blaine rubbed his bleary eyes and smiled so sweetly at Kurt it made his heart flip in his chest. This wasn't good.
"What's—" Blaine cleared his scratchy throat. "What's wrong?"
"Nothing. Nothing is wrong. Why would you think that?"
Blaine rested his chin on Kurt's stomach and smiled softly up at him with those big honey eyes. "Your heart was beating so hard. Did you have a bad dream?"
Kurt shrugged. "Probably just don't like being smothered in my sleep." He couldn't believe he fell asleep with Blaine in his bed. He couldn't even have sex with him unless his hands were restrained, but he could sleep cuddled beside him? That made total sense. He was very annoyed with his complete lack of self-control when it came to Blaine. Yesterday he just seemed so sad and Kurt couldn't stop himself from trying to make things all better for him. He was pathetic. If his dream meant anything, it would be that Blaine would be his downfall.
"Did you hear what I said?" Blaine's lips pressed a kiss to his shoulder. It absolutely did not make Kurt feel a little lighter. Blaine playfully rolled his eyes as Kurt looked down at him, obviously not paying attention. "I said that you can smother me anytime." Blaine began to kiss him more insistently all along his chest and up to his neck. Kurt's cock absolutely did not stir at that and he absolutely did not stretch his neck out so that Blaine had more skin to suck into his mouth.
Kurt's eyes slid closed as Blaine crawled up to hover over him. His hands rested on either side of Kurt's shoulders and he continued nibbling and kissing Kurt's jaw. It was a slightly awkward position, but Kurt imagined he was doing it on purpose so his hands stayed low.
"Delicious," Blaine mumbled into Kurt's jaw before he moved to his lips.
His dream flashed in front of his eyes and he heard the crunch of bones and the squelch of flesh as he remembered Karofsky consuming Blaine. Before he knew what he was doing, Kurt shoved Blaine away from him and rolled off the other side of the bed.
Blaine blinked in a confused daze at him from the bed. He was still halfway under the covers. "Kurt? What's wrong? Did I do something? Did I hurt you?" Concern took the place of confusion on his face.
Kurt shook his head. He kept his tone even so as not to betray the wild beating of his heart. "I told you yesterday that was the last time. I meant it."
"Tell your cock that," Blaine said with a smirk as he jerked his chin towards the part of him that contradicted his words.
Kurt wished he wasn't naked. His neck and jawline burned from Blaine's attention and stubble. "It cannot be helped," he said turning around and grabbing his discarded clothing from the floor. He shoved his arms into his sleeves. "It won't happen again, you can be assured of that."
Now Blaine's head dropped to his chest in annoyance. "Kurt, I would believe you if I didn't think you were lying to yourself." He looked up earnestly at Kurt. "You said you don't regret what we've done. Have your feelings changed? You don't want me anymore?"
As per usual when it came to Blaine, his words cut right to the heart and left Kurt tongue-tied. Standing there in only his robe with a bundle of his other clothes in his hand, Kurt tried to form the words he needed. He had failed miserably at pushing Blaine away, but the deadline approached and it would have to happen sooner or later. He thought of Blaine's body in Dave's teeth and shuddered.
Blaine shimmied from the bed, the blankets slipping off his nude form. He padded over to Kurt slowly, his nudity not bothering him in the least it seemed. Kurt swallowed hard as Blaine approached him. He was almost right against Kurt when he put his hand out onto Blaine's chest, stopping him. "Don't," he said softly.
Blaine didn't push. He just smiled like he understood every thought in Kurt's head. It was maddening. Blaine should be angry with him. He should hate him. Kurt had cracked open his chest and shown him the shriveled ugliness of his heart, yet he stayed. Not for you, but for Rachel, a voice inside cautioned him. It left a bitter taste in the back of his throat.
But Blaine just smiled his sweet smile, lifted Kurt's other hand, and kissed his fingers so, so gently. "It's okay. You are allowed to want things. And you can have what you want."
Kurt's fingers dug into Blaine's bare chest like he could sink his fingers in and pull out his heart. He acted as though he felt completely safe with Kurt. With one flick of his wrist, one twitch of his fingers he could end Blaine's life. Yet he left it there like the fool he was. He was like those people who raised wild animals, convinced they would never harm them until the day they gave in to their instincts.
Still smiling, Blaine dropped down to his knees and made a show of putting his hands behind his back, wrists crossed like they were bound. He leaned forward and brushed his nose against Kurt's flagging erection. "It's okay," he said again, low and sexy.
Kurt was breathing hard again. His entire body was on fire, betraying his desire for this man. He didn't have the strength for this.
"Take what you want, Kurt," Blaine said before opening his mouth in an invitation.
Yet again, Kurt failed. He made sure Blaine's arms would remain pinned to his back, grabbed him by the nape, and shoved his mouth over his swelling cock. Blaine sucked at it greedily, taking him down to the base. Kurt groaned in ecstasy, shoving aside his irritation at being weak again for the time being. Blaine had his cock down his throat and was bobbing his head up and down like he was made for it. Kurt had his hair in his hands, allowing him to set the pace for now. But then his tongue lapped at his slit and his patience broke. He started fucking Blaine's face hard, guiding him up and down. Blaine moaned happily around his cock and tried to get more into his mouth. Spit dripped down his chin and onto Kurt's balls as they smacked his wet chin.
"Take what I want, right? I want to fuck your mouth. Can I fuck your mouth, Blaine?"
Blaine nodded in enthusiastic agreement as Kurt let himself go. Blaine gagged a bit when he shoved too hard, but when Kurt tried to back off, he sucked him back into his mouth as far as he could.
Blaine soon had Kurt spilling into his mouth and a little dripped out the corner. Kurt let Blaine go and backed away until he sunk into the bed. His orgasm washed over him as he rolled his head over and whimpered a little when he saw Blaine swipe the drip from his mouth and suck the finger clean. Drifting in the afterglow, Kurt closed his eyes. He felt Blaine climbing onto the bed with him and he halfheartedly pushed him away.
"That was the last time. I swear it."
Blaine kissed along the arm he batted at him with. "So you don't want me to fuck you? One last time?" To make his point, he nudged his hard cock against Kurt's thigh.
Kurt scowled up at him and his stupid, pretty, pouting face. "No."
Blaine's face fell. He sat back on his knees on the bed, still in between Kurt's legs. "Very well." He took his leaking, red-tipped cock in hand and began to rub down the shaft with one hand while the other went to his balls. He stared heatedly at Kurt's body, eyes crawling up to his face.
Kurt sat up on his elbows. "What are you doing?"
Blaine stroked faster. "I'm hard. I'm taking care of it." He sucked in air through his teeth and moaned. "Yes, hold that face. It's helping."
"Go somewhere else to do that," Kurt said, his eyes slipping helplessly to Blaine's rapidly moving hand.
"This is my room," Blaine groaned as he sucked his lower lip in and let it pop out. "Unless you want me to go do this in your bed?"
Sitting up himself, Kurt smacked Blaine's hands away and took over stroking his thick cock. "Move. This is—"
"The last time," Blaine finished as his head fell back. "Yes, I know. Oh, yes… Faster please."
Kurt did go faster, using the drops collecting at the top of his dick to slide his hand easier and then he licked his own hand to help the glide. Blaine's hips twitched slightly at the attention, fucking into Kurt's fist. Blaine kept his hands by his sides, but his eyes stayed on Kurt's. They had darkened and were half-lidded as Kurt hit a quick rhythm. Blaine leaned forward and his eyes dropped to Kurt's lips, but Kurt didn't wait for him to ask. He kissed Blaine, slow and dirty as he continued stroking him. Blaine kissed him back hungrily and even though his hands twitched, he kept them by his sides. Kurt sucked Blaine's tongue and twisted his wrist so that Blaine groaned into his mouth, come spurting out and dripping down Kurt's hand. Kurt continued to stroke him through it as Blaine broke the kiss and rested his forehead against Kurt's shoulder.
In a complete lack of discipline, Kurt lightly kissed the top of Blaine's head. He could always deny it later.
"Thank you," Blaine said as he pulled up his head and kissed Kurt's lips softly. He tried to pull him down to the bed, but Kurt resisted.
"I need to clean myself up." He held up his sticky hand.
Blaine pulled him down beside him and took the soiled hand. Without breaking eye contact, he licked it clean and dried his hand on his own chest. Then he flopped like a puppy down beside Kurt and snuggled up to his side.
"That was disgusting," Kurt said, but the crack in his voice gave him away.
Blaine huffed a laugh into his neck. "Sorry. I haven't had breakfast."
"Ew."
"I'll make us something in a few minutes. Just need… To sleep…" By the way his breaths had evened out and the little puffs of air on his neck, Kurt guessed he had gone to sleep. He felt a little drowsy himself, but he couldn't resist watching Blaine for a few moments. He looked so happy and peaceful. Kurt wished then that things could be different. He wished he could be the person Blaine thought he was. He closed his eyes with a final wish: that things could stay this way forever.
But there was a beast after him and it would gobble them up.
My longing drives me crazy for you, my kingdom for your graces
Mercedes stretched out languidly from her perch in one of the castle towers. It was a little drafty up there, but it was incredibly peaceful. Her anger towards Kurt had cooled somewhat and she was ready to accept his apology now for being an ass. Maybe even convince him to do the right thing.
She began looking for him, but he was nowhere to be found. Lady Rachel was swinging from her cage in the dungeon, singing sorrowfully. But she couldn't find Kurt. Or Blaine for that matter. It was nearly noon. Surely they wouldn't be in bed still? Kurt's bedroom was empty but Blaine's was another story.
A wide smile stretched her mouth as she saw the state of them. Nude from what she should see and snuggled together like two kittens.
She shook her head. Kurt had to turn her back soon or she was going to lose her mind.
Hopping up on the bed, Mercedes took in the rumpled blankets and clothes strewn about. It was slightly embarrassing for her, but it would be more for Kurt. She couldn't wait. With a swish of her long tail, she tickled Kurt's nose. At first, he only rubbed at his nose and swatted at her half asleep, but the third time he sneezed violently. Blaine stirred beside him and mumbled something about Cooper shutting up.
Kurt cracked open his eyes to stare balefully at her. "What the hell are you doing?"
What have we been up to? She coyly licked her paw. You two look awfully cozy.
"It's not what it looks like," Kurt insisted as he tried to wriggle out from under Blaine.
The puppeteer smacked his lips and tried to pull Kurt closer. "I'll make breakfast soon. Just a few more minutes."
Kurt huffed and began prying Blaine's fingers up off of him, one by one.
Oh, dear. You never do anything halfway, do you? I thought you would have a discussion, maybe kiss. I had no idea you were so forward. She smirked up at him and swished her tail.
"Again, you are assuming things!" He successfully removed Blaine's hands and smacked them when they started to creep back in their spot. "You see, I was taking a nap—"
Smacking his hands fully woke Blaine and he grinned dopily at her. "Aw morning Mercedes! I was beginning to get worried about you! Where have you been?"
She meowed at him and turned back to Kurt. Tell him I am completely fine, but I was giving you two some… space… That you have taken full advantage of…
"I did not take advantage of anything!" Kurt blustered as he shook off Blaine trying to bury his face in Kurt's shoulder.
"Is she talking about us?" Blaine flushed a little, but he beamed at Kurt like he was a sky full of stars or he had pulled one down from just for him. But then he glanced back at Mercedes, slightly horrified. "Is that why you left? Oh my goodness! I'm so embarrassed!"
Kurt laughed nervously and pulled the blankets to his chin. "There's nothing to be embarrassed about! We were only sleeping!" He stressed the last word to Blaine in a way that he was trying to convey something else.
Blaine didn't get that message because he frowned at Kurt. "Don't act like what we did meant nothing. I will not be ashamed of it." He looked back to Mercedes. "We had sexual intercourse. Many times."
Mercedes' hissing laugh contrasted with the thunderous look on Kurt's face. You don't say!
"Blaine," Kurt said through gritted teeth. "Why don't you give Mercedes and myself a moment to talk?"
"Of course. I'll go make breakfast." He started to get up, but froze and smiled at Mercedes sheepishly. "Um, would you mind turning around? I have no clothes on…"
She did so shaking her head and laughing some more. Once he had put his clothes back on, Blaine leaned over and kissed Kurt sweetly. It melted Mercedes' heart a bit how Kurt obviously enjoyed it.
"Come down to eat?" Blaine lingered close to Kurt's lips.
"Of course. Now go." The words were harsh, but Kurt's tone was soft, almost fond. Mercedes had never seen him this way and it almost made her feel like she shouldn't be watching.
After Blaine kissed him once again and left the room, Mercedes moved closer to Kurt who was studying the blankets very carefully. She sat and curled her tail around her feet.
Well?
"What?"
Mercedes growled a little. I believe I'm owed an apology. You have been a nightmare lately.
Kurt met her eyes. He looked quite tired. "You're right. I'm sorry. I have been… rethinking things."
Oh? Tell me. Her heart skipped a beat.
Kurt twisted the blanket in his hands before dropping it. "I suppose I wish things could be different. Blaine had shown me things can be different. But…"
You love him. She waited for him to deny it or spit back a nasty remark, but he just sighed, his shoulders dropping.
"I think I'm starting to. Blaine has shown me life can be something better. I think… I think it's the sort of life my parents would want for me. But I don't know if I can let the past go. And I don't know if Blaine really wants me as I am." He slapped his hands on his face and moaned. "I'm so confused."
Mercedes sighed and moved closer, bumping her face against Kurt's shoulder and rubbing against him. It's difficult to let go of the past. I remember wanting to hold onto my anger forever against the village, my family, and even you. But I found myself always so focused on staying angry that I left no time for myself. Kurt, you have to understand that what that book is doing to you is going to kill you. I don't blame you for hating the people of Lima, especially Karofsky, but don't spend your life being so bitter that you miss it. As for Blaine, I think he really cares about you. Why else would he stay?
Kurt laughed wryly. "Lady Rachel. He would have been gone long ago if I had released her."
She considered this. Perhaps, but I think he cares about you more than her.
Kurt shrugged, still stubbornly not willing to believe it.
There is one way to determine it. She paused as he looked up at her. From his glum expression, he wouldn't like the answer. You need to tell him the truth about everything. Bare your soul and let him decide. Holding someone hostage isn't love.
He noticed the sharpness of her words and nodded. "I know. I've done wrong. I shouldn't have kept you a cat for so long. In a few days, I'll do the spell and you will all be free. I swear it."
Mercedes' heart thrilled at the words, excitement at becoming a human again after so long so close she could taste it.
"I don't expect you to forgive me," Kurt continued. "It was terrible and cruel and I shouldn't have done it."
I have to consider it too. It's been many years. She had always been honest with him and she knew she had to be now. She couldn't see herself just laughing it off. Maybe after several years away from this place she could, but the future was too cloudy to tell.
Kurt nodded, resigned to his fate. "I don't deserve it, but I can't stop myself from craving it anyway. I think you are right though. I have to confess everything to Blaine. I can only hope for his forgiveness as well."
Mercedes nodded. She knew she was right. It was high time Kurt starting seeing it too.
"There's only one thing," Kurt said, a faraway look in his eyes. "Karofsky won't stop until one of us is dead. It will come down to us, I know it."
She had no idea what to say to that. He was probably right. There was too much bad blood between them to just let it go. She rested her head on Kurt's shoulder, hoping there would be an end to this where they all survived.
I wanna feel your pain running through my veins, feel myself coming back home
It was a little over an hour before Kurt and Mercedes finally came down to eat. Blaine had been getting a little concerned, but seeing them entering the room filled Blaine with joy. He really wanted to know what they had talked about, but he gave them their privacy in lieu of preparing some food to make Kurt healthy again and replaying the previous night and day over and over again. He could admit to himself he was falling for Kurt and he didn't know if he could stop it at this point. He was definitely worried Kurt didn't feel the same, but he knew he felt something. If he could just get Kurt to stop pretending he wasn't affected, his hopes would be a lot higher. But tell his heart that, for as soon as Kurt's eyes met his, it flipped and his body went crazy. Then Kurt smiled at him, just a little one, and his legs became useless to hold him up.
Something warm and furry brushed against him and he was slightly embarrassed to realize he had forgotten about Mercedes. He knelt down and gave her a hug. "This is much less awkward now that I'm fully clothed. I missed you!"
She purred and rubbed against him as if to say she missed him too.
"She says she missed you too," Kurt supplied. He frowned. "She also says some rude things about me, but we are ignoring it."
Blaine laughed and noticed Kurt had a bandage on his hand. When he asked what happened, Kurt waved it away and offered to help with the food. He let it rest for the moment and focused on lunch.
They ate in mostly silence since they were all three rather hungry. Afterwards, Kurt presented his arm as he had before and asked Blaine to take a walk with him. Mercedes watched from the table where she cleaned her paws and face as they made for the courtyard.
Many thoughts were whizzing through Blaine's head, most of them not good. He was worried what Kurt and Mercedes decided.
He was worried Kurt was going to tell him to leave again which he didn't want to do, even with Lady Rachel.
He was worried he would fail his mission and not help anyone.
He was imagining what he would tell his mother if he failed when Kurt cleared his throat. They had approached the stairs leading up to the top of the wall and Kurt led him up.
"First of all, I think I got word to your family. Don't ask me how." Kurt glanced down at the bandage on his hand and Blaine was a little scared to ask. "I suppose we must wait to find out."
The dread Blaine was feeling slackened somewhat at that. He kissed Kurt's cheek. "Thank you."
Kurt nodded, a hint of a smile tugging the corner of his lip up. However, it soon drooped. They continued on in silence, eventually stopping at the side overlooking the woods and path to Lima. Blaine had enjoyed the view many a time.
He could stand the silence no longer. "Kurt, I beg you to tell me what you want to tell me or I might break down."
Kurt furrowed his brows. "Why are you upset?"
Blaine let go of Kurt's arm and leaned his palms on the ledge in front of them. "I just wonder if you are going to try to break my heart again. You keep pushing me away even though it's obvious you want to pull me near. I only wish to love you." He clenched the edge of the wall and turned to Kurt who was staring at him, mouth slightly agape. "So if you want me to leave or if you are going to call me a fool, I don't care. Please get it over with."
Kurt closed his mouth and stepped closer, his hand covering Blaine's. "It might make me the biggest fool of them all, but I don't want you to leave. I know I haven't been very… forthcoming with my intentions and feelings, but as you can imagine it's a little difficult for me. I asked you to come here with me so we could talk… So that I could confess."
Blaine stared at their joined hands, warmth curling pleasantly in his stomach at it despite his anxiety. "Confess?" He crooked an eyebrow curiously.
Kurt nodded, wetting dry lips and staring out at the tree line. "Yes. I… I haven't been completely honest with you. And you have been very kind about that, but I feel like you deserve to know the truth so that you can decide whether or not I deserve that kindness."
Blaine curled his fingers around Kurt's when he tried to pull his hand away. Was he about to get the answers to his questions? His patience had paid off it seemed. "Go on."
Kurt inhaled deeply and let it go before meeting Blaine's eyes with resolve. "Where to begin. Everything I told you before was the truth, including my plan for destroying Lima once and for all."
Nodding slowly, Blaine tried not to show how upset that thought made him. He need to hear Kurt out before trying to convince him not to go through with it.
"You wanted to know why I am keeping Lady Rachel a prisoner," Kurt continued. "You have also been trying to build up my strength. Well, I could sleep for days and eat for hours and I would still be rotting away."
He said it so matter-of-fact, it alarmed him. "Why?"
"Because I'm using dark magic."
Blaine gasped. "What? Why?" He recalled the hours Kurt spent locked away in his lab. The heavy book with the clasps. "The book?"
Kurt seemed surprised he had guessed. "Yes."
"Kurt, you must get rid of it! If that is the cause of your deterioration, it will be easy to cure! Then you can get better…" Blaine trailed off as Kurt shook his head slowly, a pained frown twisting his mouth.
"I need it. It's what I've been working towards. Yes, I intend to take care of the village, but I have a second part of my plan." He held up his left hand and showed Blaine the two simple gold rings. This close, he could see the little leaves and roses cut into them. They were nothing like the larger, gaudier rings on his right hand. Kurt eyed them lovingly. "They belonged to my parents. Their wedding rings. My father gave me my mother's after she died to give to another one day and I took his from his finger…" The rest didn't need to be said. "I was thinking at the time that I would keep them with me, to keep them close. They touched these…" He looked down at them sadly. "I intend to use them and dark magic in a ritual to get my Papa back."
Could he do that? Blaine was stunned. He knew Kurt was powerful, but he had no idea he was capable of something like this. "How?" he asked with a shaky voice, but the answer came to him before Kurt could answer. He just hoped he was wrong. "Oh Kurt, tell me it's not to do with Lady Rachel."
Kurt wrapped his arms around his waist and wouldn't meet Blaine's eyes. "I need a life to trade for his. She seemed the ideal choice with who her father is."
"But she's done nothing wrong!" Blaine implored him. He reached for Kurt's hands and held them. "Kurt, you can't!"
When Kurt finally looked up at him, tears were swimming in his eyes. "I want him back! It's not fair! I just want him to hold me again! I can do that, Blaine! I have the power! It's unfortunate she has to die, but I need him!"
Blaine's heart went out to him as his voice cracked with emotion. He pulled Kurt's hands to his chest. "I know I would do just about anything to see my father again. To know there is a spell like this, it's tempting for certain, but you can't do it! Not in exchange for another life!"
Tears slipped down his face silently. "I just want him back. I want to feel loved again. I ache for it."
"You have mine," Blaine said with no hesitation. He reached up carefully and thumbed the tears from Kurt's face. "I know it's not the same, but you have it."
Kurt didn't reply which stung a little, but Blaine knew he was emotional at the moment. This wasn't about him. He still had to get Kurt to see reason. "You have to make this right. Let her go, destroy the book, and live your life in peace! You know it's not what he would have wanted. None of it. This is literally killing you."
He shrugged and sniffed in reply. "I am part of the sacrifice. If I could make them feel a fraction of the pain they have inflicted upon me, it would have been worth it. I would gladly give up a piece of my soul to have him back and for them to suffer."
"I wouldn't."
Kurt looked up at him.
"You deserve more than this. You deserve to be whole and healthy and happy. You are worth far too much to let this eat away at you. Do what's right."
"I have much to consider," Kurt replied diplomatically. "But thank you."
"For what?"
"I suppose not running away or pushing me off this wall when I told you of my depravity." A tiny little smile appeared and he looked up at him with eyes that glittered in the sun.
"I wouldn't. You haven't shown me how to make that wonderful cheese yet."
Blaine wasn't sure if it was his words or the serious way he said them or the tension of their conversation, but it broke something and surprised a laugh out of Kurt. A wonderful, adorable laugh that had Blaine's heart soaring. With a hand to the back of his neck, Kurt brought their faces together for a kiss that only served to make it soar higher. Blaine kissed him back happily, aware that Kurt never promised he would change his plan. He just had to hope.
That evening after dinner, Kurt led Blaine to his bedroom and had him sit on the edge of his bed. He slowly undressed in front of Blaine, allowing him to look his fill. Then he helped Blaine take his own clothes off and lay down on his bed, pulling Blaine on top of him.
"I trust you. I probably shouldn't and you probably shouldn't trust me either, but I do."
Blaine leaned over to kiss him, both getting lost in it for several long moments. "I only hope to be worthy of your trust," Blaine whispered against his lips when they broke the kiss so they could breathe.
Kurt nodded slowly, his eyes sweeping over Blaine's face. He reached up and brushed his curls aside and Blaine kissed his wrist. "I need to tell you something."
Blaine sighed sadly. "If you are going to tell me it's the last time, please spare me this once. I don't think I can take it."
"No it's…" Kurt nibbled his bottom lip slightly. "You— You can touch me."
"I can?" Blaine's heart flipped on his chest. "Really?"
He looked a little worried, but Kurt nodded. "Yes."
"You're sure?" Blaine kept his hands where they were on either side of Kurt's body.
"I am. You have control." He took one of Blaine's hands and shakily placed it against his chest.
Blaine could feel his heart racing through his skin as he turned his hand so that his knuckles brushed down his chest and over his nipple, stroking his soft skin. Kurt trembled at it, but seemed to relax somewhat. He stayed away from Kurt's neck since that seemed to be an issue for him. He traced a finger along Kurt's cheek bone and along his jaw. "Thank you for trusting me. You're so beautiful and I've wanted to touch you like this for so long. To worship you like you deserve. I want to make you writhe in ecstasy." He trailed his hand down Kurt's ribs and to his thigh. He ignored his hardening cock for the moment, trying to show Kurt how amazing it would be. He had given Blaine his trust and he was going to protect it with his life. Blaine brushed his lips everywhere he could; Kurt's jaw, his shoulder, chest, and neck. He seemed to enjoy when Blaine kissed him there, just not touched. He looked down into Kurt's darkened eyes. "What do you think?"
"Yes, Blaine. I need you." He pulled him down closer and kissed him hotly.
Blaine spent the next half hour going over every bit of Kurt's body with his mouth and tongue. He drove Kurt to the edge, the man gripping the blankets and wriggling at the attention Blaine was giving him. By the time Blaine had reached his hip bones, he was begging Blaine to do something. Blaine laughed and continued. As he reached Kurt's knees, he was threatening everything Blaine cared about if he didn't fuck him already. Blaine ignored him and continued down his legs.
"I told you I intended to worship every inch of you and I meant it."
Kurt moaned as he sucked a place near his ankle. "I think you skipped a few inches." He bucked his hips pointedly and Blaine chuckled as his leaking cock flopped back onto his stomach.
"So impatient. I thought I was in control?"
He threw his head back down into his pillow as Blaine grabbed the oil from Kurt's table. Kurt's annoyed huff melted into a pleased sigh as Blaine slid his legs over his shoulders and knelt down in between them.
"So bossy." He licked around the hole, slowly letting his tongue drag.
Kurt could only moan in reply which caused Blaine to grin. He swiped up and under Kurt's balls, then went back down to circle his entrance and pushed his tongue inside. Kurt keened and bucked his hips a little as Blaine buried his tongue in deeper. His hands caressed Kurt's thighs and up his stomach to tug at his nipples. He rolled them in between his thumb and forefinger as he thrust his tongue in and out of Kurt and then sucked.
"Blaine, I can't stand it! Fuck me, now!"
Blaine laughed and Kurt's hips twitched again. He dipped a finger into the bottle of oil and slipped it in alongside his tongue. It went on like this, Blaine adding more fingers as he sucked and licked and kissed and Kurt nearly losing his mind. After three fingers and his tongue, Blaine gave in and swiped more oil along his own cock before sliding it in carefully. Kurt clutched at him and pulled him close. Blaine started out going slow and deep, really wanting Kurt to feel everything. He watched his face again, noting what made him groan and what made him claw down his back. He cradled Kurt's head in one hand and grasped his head board in the other as Kurt met him over and over. He begged in Blaine's ear for faster and he did what was asked. He would always give Kurt what he wanted.
He didn't even allow Kurt to beg, but began to stroke him when he dug his fingers into Blaine's back. Watching him come after all the teasing made Blaine crash over the edge right after him.
They lay together afterwards, hopelessly tangled and in need of a bath, but Blaine didn't want to be anywhere else at the moment. He waited unlit Kurt had drifted off to sleep before he brushed back his hair and pressed a kiss to his sweaty brow.
"I love you. Please let me love you."
Don't you ever tame your demons, but always keep them on a leash
"Town Master, how much longer do you think he will be?" Ryder shifted nervously from foot to foot. He didn't like being outside the iron fence any more than Dave did, but this was necessary.
"Patience. It won't be much longer." Dave scanned the horizon for what felt like the thousandth time that evening. They waited on the edge of the road not far from the village. His people hadn't wanted him to go out so close to dark, afraid The Dark Wizard would attack, but he had to. Things were finally going his way and he was going to take this opportunity by the throat.
"I just don't see why we have to dabble with the likes of them." Ryder rubbed his arms as if chilled. To be fair, the air was turning more crisp as the summer began to die away. "It feels like a betrayal."
Dave spat on the ground at the thought of the wizards. The world would be better off without them if he were to give his opinion. "I don't like it either, but we have to do something. Blaine should have been back by now. There's no telling what's been done to him along with all the others."
Ryder nodded sadly in agreement and tugged at the strap attached to his hilt. He was nervous, as he should be. Dave had thought it best they not have swords drawn yet. He didn't trust this man at all, but it was a necessary evil.
He might have told a few little lies about Blaine. He hadn't told anyone about what the letter he wrote really said other than they wanted to be left in peace. A few slaughtered animals had convinced some of the more stubborn members of his community to finally act. He just had to blame Hummel for all of this and they started to turn. This was the last thing he needed to end this once and for all.
"What if this one turns against us?" Ryder asked fearfully. "Or what if he fails and The Dark Wizard retaliates?"
Instead of screaming at him to shut up and smacking him like he wanted to, Dave put a hand on Ryder's shoulder and squeezed. He squeezed too hard since Ryder winced. "Either way, he will come for us. Think of your little siblings. Don't you want to keep them safe?"
Ryder gripped the handle of his sword, resolutely setting his jaw. "You're right. I'll do anything to protect them."
Dave was about to reply when he heard the clip clop of horse hooves. He saw them coming, dark silhouettes against a purpling sky. He waved a hand in friendly greeting as the three approached. Ryder stood at his side palming his sword.
"Greetings! Welcome to Lima!" Dave said, pasting on his friendliest smile.
The riders stopped and dismounted before approaching them. One was hooded, his face partially concealed. The second who was the tallest of the three men wore fine clothes that looked a little travel worn and the third wore the armor of a knight. He seemed no-nonsense and stuck close by the tallest one's side.
"No offense, but there isn't much to your village," the tall one said with a scrunched nose as he took in the trees and the crickets.
"This isn't their village, my lord," the knight said, obviously very annoyed. "I suspect we will have to camp yet again."
The lord let out a mournful whine. "But I wanted to sleep in an actual bed! The ground hurts my back."
"My apologies, my lord," the hooded one said with a tight smile. "I believe I'm the reason we are not welcome in the village." He pushed back his hood revealing a quite ordinary, handsome face. Dave suspected they were all like this to keep regular folk from getting scared. He wished they looked as ugly on the outside as they were inside.
Dave tried to exude friendliness, but he wasn't sure he hit the mark. He didn't trust him at all and he was quite right. There was no way he would be allowed within the village. "Forgive me, Master Chang," Dave said with as much respect as he could muster. "But because of our problem, we have had to take dramatic measures to keep him out. It's not anything against you."
"What sort of dramatic measures?" The knight asked with a cocked eyebrow.
Master Chang didn't drop his gaze. "I've heard rumors about your iron fence. Your enemy must be a fierce one. It's not the only rumors I've heard either."
"I'm Town Master Karofsky," he said, sidestepping the wizard's insinuations completely. "I wrote the letter asking for help. This is Ryder, my right hand man."
Ryder bobbed his head once, still stiff with tension.
Master Chang acknowledged him with a small smile and a nod.
The tall lord kicked at the dusty path ruefully while his knight stepped forward. "As you know, I'm Sir Noah Puckerman, protecter and first officer of Lord Finn Hudson. This is Mike Chang, Master Wizard. Let's get negotiations out of the way so we can get some sleep. It's been a long day of riding."
Dave could appreciate a man who was straight to the point. He gestured towards the direction of the village. "We have been plagued by this man day and night. I've tried to make peace, but he continues to attack us. Lately, things have become more… gruesome. He's taken not only Lady Rachel, but a man who came to rescue her, Blaine Anderson as well."
At the mention of her name, Lord Hudson's head snapped up. "Rach— I mean, Lady Rachel is alive?" He narrowed his eyes. "Who's this Anderson guy and why is he saving her? That's my job. So what if I got lost for a few weeks…" He toed the dirt.
His knight rolled his eyes. "I'm sure many men have tried to rescue her. You heard what her father's reward was. I heard they have doubled it even. And if you had listened to me, we wouldn't have been lost."
"But we wouldn't have met Mike either!" Lord Finn smacked the wizard on his back. "Now we are all best friends!"
"I cannot promise she's alive," Dave interjected with a sympathetic look. "But if she is, killing Hummel is the only way."
"You are certain that he is practicing dark magic?" Mike asked, his eyes pinned to Dave.
"We know it!" Ryder cried. "I found another goat torn to shreds today, his heart cut right out and drained of blood! It was him! He's a bleeder for sure!"
"Don't you dare use that term around me," Mike snarled as the ground shook.
Ryder's face went white and he bowed low. "I'm sorry! Don't kill me!"
Dave stepped in quickly before Ryder got them both killed. "Sorry about him. You see how Hummel has traumatized us. We have only been shown bloodshed by magical beings. But we are reaching out our hand from the pit and asking for your help. We will fight, of course, but we need someone who is as powerful as Hummel. An equal match." Dave pulled out a velvet sack, heavy with coins. "We will pay you all well for helping us to destroy him. Then we can rescue those he has captured. Please."
"If he has my future bride, you can count on me," Lord Finn said with a fist to his heart. "You have my sword."
"Where my lord goes, so do I," Sir Noah said. He put his fist to his heart as well. "You have my sword also."
Master Chang continued to stare at Dave, no indication of his thoughts showing on his face. Finally, after several uncomfortable moments, he stepped forward with a hand to his heart. "If Master Hummel is truly practicing dark magic, he needs to be dealt with. You have my word and my power to right this wrong." He narrowed his eyes at Dave. "However, I will be the judge of it. You would be appalled to know how many prejudiced individuals are out there, accusing my brothers and sisters of heinous things."
A trickle of sweat dripped down the back of Dave's neck, but he kept his mask in place. "That's certainly terrible. We have just had to ban all magical beings from our village since we have had trouble, but if there were only more like you—"
Master Chang held up a hand. "We accept your offer. We rest tonight and in the morning, we will prepare your people to march on the obsidian castle."
It was all Dave could do to contain his giddy laughter. Soon he would snap up Hummel and crush him in his jaws. So, so soon.
