"…You make a good other…"
"Look sharp…"
"I guess my summer vacation…is…over…"
Fuzzy, everything was fuzzy when he opened his eyes, he could feel the soft breeze of air passing through his body.
'Where…where am I?…'
The nobody quickly stood up, removed the hood of his coat and looked around him in confusion. 'What world is this?…Wait…How did I even get here? Is this a dream?'
Almost by instinct, the nobody lifted the sleeve of his coat and gave himself a strong pinch on the arm, and to his fortune (or misfortune), he felt the pain, which confirmed that he was not dreaming. 'Ow! Nope, not a dream. But I don't understand…wasn't I supposed to be inside Sora's heart?…The last thing I remember is talking to Namine, Kairi and Sora, before merging with my somebody's heart…and disappear?…'
Roxas was trying to make some sense of how he had ended in that world, or how it was possible for him to become a physical being again?Thousands and thousands of doubts were floating around in his head, all of them being more confusing than the last.
'I don't understand…what's going on?…'
Before he could even return to his thoughts, the sound of something heavy running in his direction snapped him out of his trance. Out of instinct he tried to summon both of his Keyblades, but only Oblivion appeared in his right hand.
He didn't even have time to process what was happening with his powers before some sort of white, dog-like monster charged at him. By reflex Roxas blocked the creature's bite with his Keyblade, causing it to stagger backwards, which Roxas took advantage of to perform a powerful slash with Oblivion, decapitating the creature.
'What in the name of Kingdom Hearts, was that??' The key bearer thought as he inspected the corpse of the 'monster dog' in front of him. 'This doesn't look like a Heartless…not even a Nobody…what is this thing?'
"Grrr."
Again his thoughts were interrupted, this time by a series of growls coming from several creatures similar to the one he had defeated.
"Great, I stumbled across a pack of these things." He said sarcastically while taking a fighting stance. The dog creatures began to rush towards Roxas, who began to slash left and right, killing several of those things.
'I don't know why, but I can't summon my other Keyblade and my magic feels a bit weaker than before.' He mentally pondered as he struck one of the creatures that tried to attack him from behind. 'No time to think, monster slaying first!'
That pack of monster dogs seemed to have no end, the more he defeated, the more seemed to take his place. 'Okay, I'm tired of this!'
"THUNDER!!" He yelled and a powerful lightning descended from the sky and hit the ground, killing every monster in its range.
As soon as the thunder spell dissipated, Roxas stood combat ready for a few seconds before calming down, and lowering his stance. 'These things are tough like the Heartless, jut what kind of world I stumbled on to?'
As he took a small break, a small glow suddenly caught his attention. In the place where some of those monsters were before, several hearts began to appear above them and began to rise into the sky and disappear, leaving the nobody even more confused.
"Were those…hearts? Are those things…people?" He pondered placing his gloved hand under his chin. He used that moment of peace to analyze his surroundings.
This place looked like a city, or the remains what was once a city, it was filled with some sort of big black spikes (or blotches?) emerging from every corner of the city. The sky looked like it was already dawn, there were many cliffs and broken streets everywhere, but what really caught his attention was some kind of orange/yellow dome surrounding the entire city, and beyond that barrier there was some kind of red myst.
He literally was in some sort of post apocalyptic world, filled with monsters.
'This is the weirdest world I've ever seen…maybe I should go find Sora and his friends, whenever world they are in.' As soon as he thought of that, Roxas managed to summon a Corridor of Darkness and tried to get through, but as soon as he tried to cross it, he was violently pushed back by an unknown invisible force.
"What the!? Huh!?" He exclaimed in confusion as he tried once again to cross the corridor, but he was once again pushed back. He tried to open a corridor under him, but he was launched at the air.
"What is going on!? Why can't I use the corridor!?" He yelled in frustration as he tried again, and again, and again, but there was no result.
He was stuck, stuck in this dark unknown world.
'I guess there's no choice, I'll better start exploring this place, maybe I'll find someone along the way.' He pulled his hood up, and started walking on the streets of this new unknown world.
Hours later.
As he walked through the desolate streets of that ruined city, the nobody could see several corpses laying on the streets, most of these were monsters, but some of the very few were people, people who perhaps suffered a horrible end.
The nobody tried to ignore the bodies and continued on his way, which ended up taking him to some-kind of park. Roxas looked around, making sure there were no monsters nearby and once he made sure everything was clear he sat down on one of the park's benches.
'What happened in this world? I sense darkness and despair everywhere. But there's no heartless anywhere that could've caused something like this…I don't understand…'
The blonde boy sighed and rested his head on the back of the bench, contemplating the beautiful sunrise that seemed eternal. 'It reminds me of Twilight Town…but at the same time it doesn't.' For some reason he began to search the pockets of his coat and took out two objects; a small sea shell and a wooden ice cream stick with the word "WINNER" written on it.
"Axel….Xi@# ….I wonder… what would you guys do in this situation…" He whispered as he raised both objects to the sky, looking at them with nostalgia.
"There you are." A man's voice exclaimed behind Roxas, interrupting the emotional moment. The nobody quickly turned around but there was no one behind him, but voices could be heard near him, so he stealthily hid behind a tree and looked for the source of that voice.
It wasn't long before he found the source, near the remains of the park there was a small group of 3 men armed with bayonets and swords, and in front of them was a boy somewhat older than Roxas, who had orange hair and He held a bayonet. What caught Roxas's attention the most was that they all wore some kind of gas masks, he reflexively sniffed the air, but nothing happened.
"You're that crazy kid that's been passing out blood beads, aren't you?" One of the men asked with a mocking tone, as he pointed at the orange-haired boy in front of him while he held his halberd firmly.
"Maybe. What if I am?" The boy asked in a defensive tone, as said man approached him and grabbed his shoulder in a "friendly" manner.
"If you've got so many lying around, then how about you pass some along to us?" The man asked, trying to negotiate with whatever where those blood beats. "After all, we've been hurting since one of our kids turned Lost."
The orangish haired boy just looked at the man with an angry/serious face. "I don't have that many." He answered before angrily brushing the man's hand off his shoulder. "Even if I did, I wouldn't give a single bead to bastards like you."
This statement irritated the group. "You stupid punk. In that case, we'll just take 'em by force!" Yelled angrily the leader of the group as he and his colleagues drew their weapons.
Before those men could attack the orange haired guy, their legs were suddenly frozen in ice, immobilizing them.
"What the!? What the hell is this!?" One of the punks yelled, but his question was soon answered when a black coated figure emerged from behind a tree and knocked him out unconscious by smacking him in the head with some kind of "key sword?"
"Three against one? That seems unfair." Said the boy in the black coat as he jumped back from his unconscious victim, and landed beside the orange-haired teenager, while standing in a combat posture. "How about we make this even?"
Enraged, the two remaining punks managed to break the ice on their feet and stared at Roxas with daggers in their eyes. "Son of a @ !! Hey partner, let's kill these two idiots!!" Said the leader readying his halberd while the other pulled out his sword.
"Look sharp! Here they come!" Yelled the key bearer, as he launched himself at his opponent trying to deliver a slash, but it was blocked by the man with the halberd.
The hunter was confused at the stranger's aid, but his confusion was cut short after blocking the sword from the other guy before rolling out and casting a fireball at his opponent, who barely dodged it.
"You damn brat! Stay still!" Yelled the guy with the halberd, trying to land a hit or cut on Roxas, but he managed to dodge his attacks easily.
Suddenly the boy in black coat suddenly vanished, and without noticing the man was hardly smacked in the back by said boy's weapon. "Wow, is this all you've got? Even Demyx fights better than you."
In another universe said nobody, loudly sneezed interrupting the speech of a white haired man.
"You damn-" Before he could finish his sentence, he was quickly knocked out by the key shaped weapons that was launched at him.
At the same time a loud *BANG* echoed through the streets, as the orange haired boy pierced a bullet on the other guy's forehead. The hunter was exhausted, but quickly changed his stance as the black coated kid approached him.
"Woah, easy man. I'm not trying to pick a fight with you." He said as he mysteriously made his key-shaped weapon disappear out of nowhere.
The orange haired guy still looked at him with suspicion, but he lowered his stance. "I think we started with the wrong foot, my name is Roxas." Said the nobody as he lowered his hood, revealing his spiky blonde hair and blue eyes, and offering a friendly handshake.
The hunter lowered his weapon and cautiously accepted the black coated boy's handshake. "The name's Kevin…sorry for being distrustful...I didn't expect to find a friendly revenant around this area." Said Kevin, which made Roxas to look at him with confusion.
"Hey! I have noticed that you're not wearing a mask, did you lose it during the battle? If that's the case we should probably hurry and get you one before the Miasma makes you bloodthirsty!"
As soon as the orange haired hunter finished speaking, Roxas couldn't help but stare at him with visible confusion (despite his emotionless face), before making the question of the century.
"What's a revenant?"
