CHAPTER 120
SHE, WHO FIGHTS MONSTERS
Watching Emily walk towards her office, crying, in slow motion, was doing all kinds of hurtful things to Garcia's heart. She could simply not stand there and watch any longer.
Emily shut her office door closed and was surely as upset and lonely as Garcia figured she would be.
She had reassured the team that she had a master plan that could give them results. And Garcia knew that it wasn't as if Emily had failed. No. It must have been the Director, to have failed her.
Armed with this new sensation of bravery, Garcia did two things.
First, she called JJ.
"Hey G, we're on lunch break right now. I'll call you when we go back to the Police station, we'll need your support this afternoon-…" JJ started to speak, but Garcia didn't care about all that.
"You need to call her…" Garcia's voice was soft, a bit shaky, and JJ instantly knew what must have happened.
"Oh…" JJ exclaimed before she hung up and excused herself from the table in that cute little restaurant where the BAU was currently waiting for their food to be served.
Secondly, Garcia grabbed her Octopus mug and nearly ran to the elevator. If she was going to do this, she needed her double green tea infusion to calm her down a little, if that was even possible.
"Screw you! Screw your title and screw your sense of entitlement! Screw your smug smile and your non-human abilities to memorize huge passages of text after just three reads! Screw everything about you and screw me for ever believing that you had integrity in you! Screw integrity, altogether! It will get you nowhere! Screw this stupid Bureau and screw all the paper work. Screw the budget, too! Screw it all!" Emily spoke to herself, not even trying to keep her voice down.
With one hand she allowed herself to tackle down a few things from her desk. She hated the lack of order, but the temporary moment of insanity was calling for a very dramatic display of harsh emotions, so this felt much needed.
The pencil holder, one that she never even used and had no idea why it had been sitting on her desk for so long, fell to the floor first. All the pens flew in different directions, while the cup itself rolled all the way to the door, only stopping when it hit against it.
The next item to suffer was a folder with the newest case the BAU had closed. Emily had just revised all the paperwork, so she knew the exact order of the papers, inside that folder. She had a very intricate system of filing. It wouldn't take her more than a minute or two to fix it all once she'd be done throwing tantrums. Although, at this moment, she didn't feel like she wanted to be done with her tantrums. They calmed her down a little bit. She felt in control.
And that's when she realized something – she was a planner. Even in a moment of rage, she had carefully thought-out which objects she could knock over, to create less hassle for herself later on. That was what made her an incredible Unit Chief - she always thought ahead. She planned. And when her plans failed – she schemed. Lauren would also stoop down to the level of manipulation and Emily would not deny herself the fact that she, Emily Prentiss, would do the same, if the moment was calling for it. Which, at that moment, it felt like it was.
She would be damned if she let this go so easily. Not after everything she had been through and not after all the effort and passion she had put into this. There was just no way she'd let go. Especially not after she had promised Angela she would always fight for her.
"Oh my God…Angela…" She came to the realization that she owed this girl the truth.
She had begged her to behave until Friday and to believe in her, but she now had to go and break her heart yet one more time, telling her the truth. But then again – lying to her was not an option. Not anymore. Not ever!
"May I help you?" A man asked when Garcia stormed out of the elevator, followed by a cloud of colorful amazingness and the faint smell of some fruity girly perfume.
"Not unless you are him!" She stated, pointing at someone's closed office door.
Two seconds later she was already inside that office, closed or not, she did not care before she stormed in.
"Miss, you can't just…" The man was now running after her, yelling for her to stop.
"You don't have an appointment…" He called out when he finally caught up with her, by the door.
"No, but I do have an opinion!" She stated and, for the first time ever, she felt a mixture of bravery, ballsiness and insanity. Was that what Emily's life felt like? Garcia was quite intrigued.
"It's alright Benjamin. She can stay. Let's hear that colorful opinion of yours, Miss Garcia." The man behind the desk said with a smile, his hand pointing at the chair, as if he was inviting her to sit.
Ben, who was the one to have ran after Garcia in desperate attempts to prevent her from barging into the office, simply walked away.
"No, you're not going to command me to sit! I do not wish to sit. I will stand here and speak my mind!" Garcia spoke back bravely.
A second later she realized that her choice of shoes that day had been just as bad, as any other day. She liked needle heels, but they were horrible, she felt the pain in her knees and in her back. She knew she could not stand on her feet for more than a minute at a time and she had just been running, so she was now in even more pain.
"Okay, I am going to sit now, but this is not me bowing down to your orders! No. This is the shoes talking, my wonderful pink shoes that I paid good money for and that now make me hate life each time I choose to wear them. Don't ever buy needle heels! I mean, if you ever, you know…why not? Alternative style is accepted these days…" She continued on speaking gibberish until she realized her words were suggesting that the man was into women's shoes, at the very least.
"Alright, better now." She said, now sitting in front of this man.
"You better listen carefully, because I am not going to repeat this! Well, mostly because this is caffeine speaking right now and I'm pissed and I don't think I should ever allow myself to come here and do this, again, so…listen carefully!" Garcia put her index finger in the air, requesting attention like the true Diva that she was.
Angie would adore this woman. When it came to theatrical outbursts, they were practically the same person, just…in different colors.
"You do not upset Emily Prentiss! Ever! You do not make her feel sorry for herself! Ever! You do not give her yet one more reason to frown and to be sad, not after everything that has happened to her lately. And to the team, sure, but especially to her! You don't know her like we do and you do not have the right to break her like this. We are always going to be there to gather the pieces of her shattered little heart and to glue them together, because this is what we do. We are a family and we look after each other. But we also usually go after the people who hurt one of our own…"
Garcia stopped for a second. First, she had drifted off to the conclusion that this man might ever wear high heels. Now, she was sounding much like she was threatening the man.
"Miss Garcia, I shall remind you who you're talking to…" He said, trying really hard not to let his true emotions show on his face.
"Yeah, big bad Director…Woooh, I am so scared!" She put her hands in the air and made a spooky gesture, taking the piss out of this man.
"I've gone against serial killers before! I've been kidnapped, beaten, shot…all that and more. I'm not scared of you and guess what? Neither is she! Because my baby Emily Prentiss is the strongest woman I know and she is incredibly smart and so damn beautiful, on the inside and out. She deserves the world, and more! She deserves to smile and be happy, because she spends her days searching for the monsters of the world and she spends her nights, going after them and then preparing all of your damn bureaucratic paperwork, just to wake up the next day and do it all over again. And guess what? She does it with a smile. Emily Prentiss loves her job, she loves her team and she deserves to smile."
Garcia was on a roll and there was no stopping her.
The second the man opened his mouth, trying to regain some sort of control over the situation, Garcia's pointy finger flew back up in the air, urging him to shut up.
"No! This is my time now. You had your time to talk and you upset someone I care greatly about! Now you listen!" She said snarkily, right before realizing she had no idea what she even wanted to say.
"I just need to…" She grabbed her Octopus mug and took a sip of her tea before her nerves would get the best of her and allow her to stupidly threaten him one more time.
"Tea, you know? Helps with the…yeah…" She muttered awkwardly.
"Ok, I'm ready now. Where was I? Oh, yeah. Emily Prentiss is my best friend, she's my sister and she is like a mother to me. She is sweet, nurturing, caring, oh you wouldn't believe it! She takes care of her team and we are blessed to have her. We thank God for her, every single day. We go out of our way, to make her feel good. So yes, Sir, now that you've upset her, you and I have a problem!" She raised an eyebrow.
Garcia had once heard Emily threaten an UnSub with those words: 'You and I have a problem'. And it had been fantastic – Emily had narrowed her eyes at the man who had killed five women in the span of three months, and she had intimidated the crap out of him, making him weak to the point where he had confessed later.
She was now testing it out for herself, although she hardly hard the authority Emily had, not when she was wearing a rainbow head piece, pink shoes and about five layers of clear lip-gloss on top of her hot pink lipstick. Something was just…not the same.
The Director bit his lips, trying not to laugh at Garcia's face. Her attempt at intimidating him, as lame as it was, was actually quite endearing and very much entertaining.
"My point is – don't you ever be the man who upsets Emily Prentiss!" She continued, wondering if she looked anything like her boss, with her eyebrows furrowed and her gaze now piercing through this man in a very threatening way.
In reality, she looked like a Barbie doll with her make-up gone a bit wild for a Friday night out with the girls.
"No, Miss Garcia, this is not your point…" He challenged her, because he knew that, while it was a valid point that she hated him for having upset her boss, this was not why she was there.
"Okay fine. My main point is – how dare you deny us the simple request of adding one more person to our family? I mean team, to our team! We worked out a carefully detailed new budget plan, allowing us to welcome a new person without them being any additional cost to you, I mean, to the Bureau. We cut down our own salaries and we are glad to do so, if it means that we can offer this incredible young girl the chance to learn from us and to work with us, which may I point out, is everything she wants in life. So, how dare you!? What is your problem? Why are you so against the BAU? What did we ever do to you? Why can't we get one thing, while other Units get all the profits and gadgets…and don't you think for a second I have not made my research! I know how you upped the armory of five Units and how you replaced other Units' computers with brand new technology. And they don't even use computers so much, in solving their crimes. We do and we also use people's brains. Sadly, our computers are old and we are refused to gain a new member to our team, one who is perfectly able to fit right in and help us solve our cases. Why? I want to know…No, I demand to know why!?"
Ben was eavesdropping, from the other side of the closed door. He had hit Record on his phone, because Garcia's shouting and threatening was way too entertaining. One day, he might need this recording. He could not stop chuckling and the more this woman spoke, the more he asked himself how come the Director hadn't lost it yet? How was he so collected? Ben would have been laughing a long time ago, if Garcia was in his face like that.
"No! Don't you speak!" She was so into her own game that she stopped him from speaking yet one more time when he tried to answer.
It served him well. Hadn't he done the same, just minutes earlier, to Emily Prentiss? Karma was a bitch.
"But…you asked me a question…" He was now confused and on the verge of bursting out in laughter.
"Oh. Right. That I did. Ok, I guess you can talk now." Garcia shrugged, taking another big sip of her now cold green tea.
"I can somewhat see where you are coming from, Miss Garcia, however, I am not a magician and I cannot overrule official decisions. And may I remind you, that initial budget proposal came from Emily Prentiss' office, with her signature on it and her words, written on the paper. I simply just signed it, authorized it, put it in motion and filed it away. So, now, please do not waste my time. Agent Prentiss made a choice and she has no right to hold me accountable for her choices…" He rolled his eyes and let a deep sigh of annoyance escape from his lips.
"Actually, Sir…" Garcia shifted in her seat, feeling more than uncomfortable. It was time for the truth to come out.
"She did not, Sir. This was not her choice. It was a choice we made for her and…against her will." She muttered quietly.
"You did what? You forged official government documents!?" The man almost spat with rage as he sat on the edge of his seat and leaned over the table.
"And the whole BAU was in on this?" He added, with a raised eyebrow.
"No, Sir. It was me, just me. I wrote the proposal myself and I forged Emily's signature on it. I filed it to your office, breaking into her e-mail account from my computer. This is all on me. Nobody from the team knew about it." She gulped hard. Of course she wouldn't tell him that it had been JJ to write the proposal and then the entire team to give Garcia the Go, right before she sent it in.
This had quickly turned from a manifestation of Barbie's thoughts and feelings, into an admission of forgery, which could lead to the end of Garcia's career.
"Wow…" The Director's jaw was now hanging. He did not seem impressed.
"This is why it is so hard for Emily…uh, Agent Prentiss, to accept your refusal. She wants this, she wants an intern, she loves sharing her wisdom with the young ones and she loves mentoring. It's what she excels in. She is her happiest when she's doing something good, for someone else. And she has always wanted an intern. I realize it was not fair of me to forge those documents and I take full responsibility for my actions, Sir. But, please, do not take it out on the one person who deserves the world, and so much more! Because she, who fights monsters, deserves at least one good thing in return. And, for whatever reason, I can tell that Agent Prentiss cares about Angela, a lot, and if she wants her on the team, we back her up 150% and we won't back down until her wish is granted, Sir!"
Garcia now had a splitting headache and was questioning everything in life. Why did she have to go there? What was the point? And then again – she did not regret it.
"Miss Garcia, I know you are on a case right now, but the moment it is over, I am transferring you to the tech support unit, here at Headquarters." He stated coldly.
"What? Like…to go around the offices and to fix bugs in their computers?" Garcia could not imagine a worse punishment, well, other than being fired altogether.
"Yes. You will no longer have the access and clearance you have now, as a technical analyst. Maybe that will teach you a lesson on forgery."
"Oh, Sir, I am incredibly good at what I do and I do not need your passwords in order to gain access to-…" She cut herself off, biting her upper lip guiltily. It was hardly the best comeback statement and she knew it.
"Plus, if you transfer me now, it would be a hassle to handle my documents. It's best to do so when a trimester is done and I'm properly compensated for my work so far. Not to mention health insurance plan and all that. Less paperwork, you know?" She tried to bargain, but by the look on his face she could tell he was not impressed.
"When the time comes, you will be informed about your imminent transfer out of that team. Now, leave my office, Miss Garcia." He commanded, pointing at the door.
She did not hesitate to obey this order. The best thing for her was to disappear as quickly and quietly as possible.
However…
"Sir?" She turned around as she opened the door, on her way out.
"If I am off the team, does this mean there is going to be one free spot, for someone else to join? And, if this could in any way convince you to grant Agent Prentiss' request, could that, please, be Angela Hunter?" She said, like the sweet angel that she was.
"Out!" The man said grumpily.
Emily ignored JJ's first attempt to get in touch with her. The call came up just seconds after she had barricaded herself in her office, and she was still a hot mess of tears and sour feelings.
"Yes?" She replied, calm and collected, the second time JJ called, five minutes later.
It had been enough time for Emily to force herself to get back to a state in which she'd be helpful to the team.
"Em…" JJ whispered.
"Tell me about the case?" Emily insisted, otherwise she'd go straight back to tears.
"Well, we interviewed a few people, but we don't have much just yet. I was actually going to call you right after lunch, so we can discuss a strategy." JJ informed her, now standing outside the restaurant. She had lost her appetite. All she needed was to make sure Emily was okay since, clearly, her meeting with the Director hadn't gone too well.
"It wouldn't be fair if I gave out the order. You're there, I'm not. Hence, this is your case, JJ."
"But…"
"This is an order, Agent Jareau!" Emily switched to a more stern tone and JJ knew it was time to cut the call short.
"Ok…" JJ said, still not convinced this was the best idea.
"I have to do something first and then I'm on my way to the airport. My flight lands at half past seven tonight, make sure someone is at the airport to get me, okay? See you tonight."
"Alright, I will arrange for that. But Emily…?" JJ just needed to ask that one question. "So, he said No?"
Emily sighed and cut the call short. It was more than obvious he had said No.
"Hey, where did you disappear? I've been trying to get a hold of you for the past ten minutes. The team has a lead and they need you to run something through VICAP." Emily said to Garcia, when she saw her come back to the BAU floor.
"I uh…I did…a thing…" Garcia stuttered, but since this was pretty much a natural thing for her, Emily didn't pay it too much attention.
"Yes, I will be in my office." She added.
"Garcia, I'm out to run an errand and then I'm going straight to the airport. Remember it's a commercial flight, so I will be unreachable for about two and a half hours, during the flight. JJ has resumed my duties for the duration of this case, so anything that needs to be reported, must be reported to her first. I will see you in a few days." Emily stated and walked in the elevator.
Oh, if only she knew that she might not be seeing Garcia, the next time she walked out of that elevator.
"May I?" Emily asked politely, walking into the laboratory where Trainees were currently testing and analyzing different chemicals and drugs, as part of their learning.
She pointed at Angela and the class teacher gave her permission to leave the class.
"Hey, did something happen?" Angie said frantically. Why would she get pulled out of training like this?
"No. Nothing happened. That's the problem…"
When Angie seemed confused at Emily's words, she elaborated.
"I tried to get you the internship you deserve. It backfired. It is simply not possible, not at this point anyway. I got scolded by the Director and God knows how this would rub off on my team from here on out. We are not exactly everybody's favorites around here." Emily shrugged.
"I'm only telling you that, so that you'd know I'm keeping my word to you. You must, in no way, shape or form, put this on you, okay? It is not your fault. My team and I made an effort that backfired and that is on me." As if Emily knew Angela, she jumped at the chance to let her know that she was not to feel responsible.
In that aspect, Angie was a spitting image of Emily. She'd blame herself, overanalyze every single detail and then try all over again. She would simply not drop it, once she had an aim.
"I'm not giving up. Internships are not due until the end of the Academy, so there is still time. But I do need to lay low right now. But I promise you – you will be on my team, whatever it costs me! Mark my words. I won't stop fighting for you." Emily added, looking down at her shoes, a bit shyly.
"Hey?" Angie forced her to finally look her in the eyes. "I am thankful to just have you in my life, okay? And this…what you did for me…I am so proud of you! I appreciate it so much. But you need to drop it. I already knew I wasn't going to be with the BAU. I don't want you to lose your job there, too." Angie whispered, looking into Emily's eyes.
"I just feel like I've failed you…" Emily whispered, biting her lower lip guiltily.
"You haven't! If anything, you've given me the courage to keep going."
"So, you won't be signing those papers and leaving tomorrow?"
"Pff, that was all for the show. I could never leave the Academy. I mean, I would really love to, since I can't get what I want, but I am not a child. I never really was. I had my 24 hours of tantrums and I'm good now. It's my time to kick ass now. No more holding back. Let me show them who Angela Hunter is! And oh, Emily Prentiss, I don't think they're ready for this!" Angie smirked and spoke with such confidence that Emily just had to smile.
"That's my girl! You show them!" Emily started chuckling.
"I need to be honest about something…" Angela confessed. "I feel like I won, anyways. I mean, BAU or not, I feel like Emily Prentiss came through for me and she fought, when she had no legal or moral obligation to do so. But she did. And, honestly, I'd love that BAU spot that I know I deserve to have, but I gained something even more precious to me. And I'm grateful for that…it's what I needed, right now. So, thank you, Emily Prentiss."
Emily's heart burst with joy when she heard those words. It helped her feel just a tiny bit less of a failure, but knowing that Angela was looking at her like she worshiped her even more now was the best feeling in the world, for Emily.
She noticed how raw and honest Angela was with her words and she had no doubt they were true, but she still saw that frown on her face. Of course Angela would have preferred to get the position, as well. Emily could not even imagine how horrible Angela must have felt to have been turned down, yet again.
"Hey, I know it must suck for you right now. And I cannot guarantee any success later on, either. I can only tell you that, wherever you get assigned to, you would be amazing. Because you are an amazing girl and anyone would be lucky to have you by their side." Emily allowed herself to get a little emotional again. Just because…why not? Angie had already witnessed Emily's soft side.
"You know whose side I'd rather be fighting monsters by, right?" Angie pursed her lips and felt ill-at-ease.
"I know." Emily admitted. "I've always known…"
When Emily left for the airport, Angela was back in class and training for the rest of the day. She did her best to look calm on the outside, but she could not battle that feeling inside, that sadness, she could not come to terms with the fact that it was finally over – she was never getting her desired spot at the BAU.
And then again, there was a weird new feeling, deep inside of her. It felt like a light form of joy, like some sort of relief, like the fact that Emily Prentiss had done something so huge for her, was enough to compensate for the lack of results.
"Bry?" She called out when the last training got dismissed.
"Can I use your phone?"
"Sure, GiGi." He smiled at her, tossing her the phone before he joined the guys for a small relaxing walk before they'd all head back to the dorms for the night.
Angie did some walking, too. She soon found herself sitting on that rotten wooden bench, in the middle of nowhere. Oh, she loved going there and catching up on all the reading material for class. But this time, she needed to do something else.
After fidgeting with the phone in her hands for a while, she finally had the courage to dial a number that she knew by heart.
"Yes?" A deep male voice replied.
She sucked in a breath. Oh, hearing his voice was everything she needed at that moment.
"Baby!?" He called out happily when he paid attention to the area code on the caller ID – Quantico, Virginia.
"I know it must be hard for you…" He kept on speaking, as Angela was mute.
"And I know you demanded on doing this, all on your own…"
She sighed inaudibly. Hard? He had no idea what these past weeks had done to her, not so much physically, but rather mentally.
"But I know you. And you're a strong girl! Whatever life throws your way, my love, you fight back and you never back down. And I know you've wanted this your entire life…" The more this man spoke, the more Angela felt like she was about to burst into tears.
"I am not mad at you for leaving…" He anticipated what was clearly on Angela's mind. She had been wondering if she may have let him down.
"This is your destiny, baby. This is who you are. This is who you've always wanted to be. I've always known that. I know I've prepared you for everything, in the best way I could. This is your life now. You're a grown up. You make your own decisions and no matter what you decide, I'll always be on your side. You will always have a home, with me. And you'll always have me in your life, in any way you'd wish."
Angela pursed her lips and looked up towards the sky. No, she wouldn't cry. No, she would not break…
"Do you remember when I first lost you?" He asked and she nodded.
How could she forget?
"I knew you would always be mine and I knew I would love you forever. I was scared to not have you by my side anymore. You were so little…" His voice was a bit shaky and she knew he was barely keeping his tears in check, as well.
"But I knew this was what was best for you. This was what you needed. And I trusted you. And then you came back into my life. So, no matter the distance between us, I love you, my sweet little darling, and I will love you until the last breath I take. And when I see you again someday, I'll embarrass you in public by giving you all the hugs and kisses and I don't care how much you'd hate it." He chuckled. Clearly, he knew how much Angela hated displays of affection or any kind of human contact.
He made her chuckle silently as well. She would never admit to this, but his hugs and kisses were the one thing she missed the most, from her 'past life', as she liked to refer to it as.
"Je t'aime…" She whispered breathlessly.
He knew it would take her some time to finally reply to him, if she even said a word at all. He'd been through this with her. He knew her.
"You have absolutely no idea how much I love you, ma souris!" He instantly replied.
She loved it when he called her his mouse. It was their thing – their nauseatingly cute little thing, the thing that every dynamic duo had. This was theirs and it was special to them.
"Thank you…" She kept on whispering. "For everything…"
"My life would not be the same, without you. So, thank you, baby." He twisted it around, because in his eyes he'd thank her and he'd thank God for her, every waking moment, and it would still not be enough to fully show his gratitude.
"It's weird…" She confessed and he knew exactly what she meant.
"It will get better."
"I know. But it's weird now." Angie shot back.
"Ah, you've never really been the patient type of girl." He laughed, remembering so many instances when she had been nothing short of a dynamite, blowing up on things and people when she wouldn't instantly get her way. His fierce little mouse.
"I wasn't going to get in touch until I finished the Academy. But I really miss you and I need you in my life. I can't ignore that feeling anymore." She added to her earlier confession.
"Baby, you know I'll drop everything and I'll be by your side, whenever you need me. Just say the word and the jet is on its way."
"No. I really need to go through this, on my own. I just wanted to hear your voice, that's all. I've been thinking of coming back, too…"
"Nonsense!" He cut her off. "We both know where you truly belong. You'll always have a home with me, but you'll never fully feel at home without -…"
"No!" She cut him off quickly. "Please, don't say that name!"
He sighed. Of course he wouldn't have said the one word that would trigger her.
"How are you dealing with it all? Are you good? Are you keeping up with…you know…?" He asked, changing the topic a little bit.
"I'm good. Been taught well." She smirked.
"I'm proud of you."
"You always say that…"
"Because it's true. You have grown into a remarkable young lady and you're much stronger than you think. Do you have any idea just how much strength and courage it takes, to be there where you are…to be doing the thing that you are? And you're handling it all by yourself! How could I not be proud? I miss you, only about all the time, baby. But I know you're strong and you'll be fine. After all – you always get what you want. Isn't that what you've always kept saying, my spoiled little mousie?"
His words once again made her laugh.
"Don't know who's to blame about me, being spoiled…" She challenged. "Or a cheese-obsessed mouse."
"Guilty as charged." Closing his eyes, he tried to imagine her next to him, sitting on the other side of that couch, smiling at him and being the vibrant young girl that he remembered her to be.
"This is not my phone and it's not safe, so don't contact me. Please?" She started to wrap it up, as tears once again started to threaten.
"Will you contact me again? I need to discuss something very important with you."
"Oui. But not now. I need to focus on my…you know, on this…"
"Okay. Stay safe, baby. And good luck. I believe in you."
"Thanks. That's actually all I need."
"Huh?" He asked in confusion.
"Your approval. Come on, I've been hungry for it since day one."
"Maybe not day one…" He corrected her.
"Fine, yeah. You know what I meant. I've always wanted to make you proud and I always felt like you believed in me. It's partially what made me be the person I am today…whoever the Hell that might really be." She rolled her eyes and he was certain she would have done so. He knew her.
"Thank you…" He trailed off, taking her off guard.
"Wait…why?"
"For being in my life. For being my life!"
"Awhh…" Her lower lip quivered. Yes, he was most definitely the most amazing man she had ever met.
No further words were needed. They both ended the call simultaneously, leaving it at that sweet moment, allowing for them to dwell on it and to remember each words, each breath they had taken, until the next time she might initiate contact with him.
REVIEW REPLIES:
"rmpcmfan" I for one would love to see some slapping action going on. Both Emily and Angela have so much pent up anger and it's only bound to come out in one way or another. Hmmm, the Director has his own game with Prentiss and it's far from over just yet. However, mind how he only commented on the petition and never actually GAVE Emily a Yes-or-No answer? *wink*. And it was the 'political' aspect of that conversation that pissed Emily off to the point where she cut the meeting short. She could simply not stand having a man of power disregard her so blatantly! I'm interested to reveal what Emily's next step would be...and so is the Director. Like you said perfectly well - 'FBI's strength is their people'! And like I've mentioned before (as I've constantly heard/read in my research before writing this story) - the FBI is all about placing the best Agents in the most appropriate Unit, based on their abilities and, of course, on open positions that need to be filled. Now, the BAU does not have an open position, HOWEVER, Angela's bundle of tricks and knowledge points to her being best placed withing a behavioral analysis unit, no question! She'd be a wasted resource if placed in any other unit. Also, I enjoyed your golf analogy lol, so true! And as for your prediction that the Director needs to be ready to deal with a pissed off Prentiss, lol...I laughed when I read it, as you (at that point) had no idea what this current chapter would be and which pissed BAU lady would be giving the Director a piece of her unfiltered, colorful mind, hehehe! I can totally see our compassionate lil' puppy G doing all of the above, if pushed to the edge, which she was when she saw Emily borderline destroyed, mentally.
"Ducksdragonfly" I really enjoy reading speculations! LOL I can say that maybe something you said is valid, but since you said many things, it doesn't spoil anything. It's just a teaser hehe :P! Also, the Director surely NOW knows the truth behind Emily's budget proposal scheme. Oopsie! We all love it when Garcia 'does a thing' hahaha! However, would he be proud of Emily for not ratting Garcia out? I mean, cleeeeearly she knew about this proposal being sent on her behalf and she could have argued the case much easier, if she had told him she never agreed to it, in the first place! Angie may have already had her transfer documents ready. But, is Emily someone who'd rat someone out, in order to help someone else out? Hmm. Saying that, it sounds like this woman has much more integrity than people thought...maybe that's a good thing? Or the Director is really pissed at both women now? We shall see :D! I mean, poor Penny G is going to start jumping from now on, each time her phone rings, awaiting her punishment. But hey, she did the right thing and confessed, having Emily's back, right? That should count for something!
"sweetkid45" Gotta admit - Big Bad Director looks like quite the bad guy right now. Looks can be deceiving, but yeah...hehe! And lol, come on, Dan's job is literally to keep his class in check. I'm amazed at how easily Angela shut up and let Dan charge her with words in the previous chapters hahaha. It amazed even ME and I'm the one who created her :)! And Emily...whoah she sure kept her cool with the Director, but it was inevitable for her to break down afterwards. Poor Ems!
