Chapter 8, The Deserter and the Slitheen.
Once Drannor had gotten changed into a chest binder, a pair of black jeans, and a dark purple poet shirt, with a pair of black riding boots, he and The Doctor went up to the roof of the flats where Rose and her mum lived.
Rose was sat on the roof looking up at the sky. It was the only place to escape from Jackie's friends, who Jackie had immediately called once she had calmed down. The two men sat on either side of her and both without thinking took one of her hands. "How are you feeling?" Drannor asked and smiled softly at her.
"It's just a lot, I should probably stay for a few days, keep Mum happy an all that." Rose sighed softly then grinned cheekily at The Doctor. "I can't believe she hit you. I've never seen you so shocked." Rose started to laugh and so did Drannor as The Doctor pouted.
"You should have heard how much whingeing he was doing when I was helping him with the ice. You'd have thought that your Mum was a professional fighter with the way he went on. " Drannor chuckled and Rose laughed more as The Doctor stood up. "It hurt, shut it both of you. She still had her rings on."
Drannor and Rose just smiled at each other whilst trying to keep contained another wave of laughter. After a few moments of calming down, Rose looked up at The Doctor. "What will you two do whilst you're waiting for me?" He put his hands in his pockets and looked thoughtful. "I'm sure I can find something to keep me and Legolas here entertained."
Drannor looked back at The Doctor about to ask why they kept calling him Legolas when a loud boom and rumbling filled the sky. The Doctor suddenly ducked down and pushed Rose's and Drannor's heads down with his hands as a huge spaceship flew over them. It was smoking from the back and appeared to be crashing. The Doctor stood up a large grin on his face once the ship had passed. "Something like that ha! Looks like it's crashing! We have to get a closer look." He shot off leaving Rose and Drannor on the roof.
Drannor stood and helped Rose stand up. "With how excited he is and with how fast he ran off, I suppose this isn't normal for your planet?"
Rose nodded and chuckled softly. "Come on let's try and catch up with him."
Once they had caught up with The Doctor he was standing on the crowded street, trying to look over a crowd. "It's no use, the whole of London is gridlocked. "
Drannor stood next to him panting softly from the running, he was sure even in the military he did not do this much running. "Why don't you take your ship and have a closer look?" The Doctor shook his head in response and frowned softly. "No, we don't want to draw attention to ourselves. The whole country is on alert so unfortunately I think they would notice."
Rose moved in between the men and looked up at them both. "Why don't we go to Mum's and watch the TV? There are helicopters and I'm sure the BBC will be showing footage."
The Doctor grinned and grabbed Rose's cheeks kissing her head. "Rose Tyler you're a genius!" He grabbed her hand and Drannor's, He started running dragging them back towards the Powell estate. Drannor sighed and groaned softly, more running he thought to himself as he tried to keep up with The Doctor.
IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII
Drannor was squished between the plush chair The Doctor was sitting on and the coffee table, but he didn't really mind especially since this was his first time seeing a TV. He watched the small people on the screen mesmerized, The Doctor had previously told Drannor that there is no magic on Earth unlike on his planet, yet they had such amazing things like this.
He smiled and thanked Jackie never tearing his eyes from the screen as she handed him a cup of tea. He took a drink of it and immediately spat it back into the cup. It didn't taste sweet like the one Rose made him, he frowned and then noticed The Doctor had a cup of tea on the Coffee table, which smelled a lot sweeter and was lighter in color.
He slowly reached out for it and swapped it with his cup thinking that The Doctor would be too preoccupied to notice. Just as he was about to take a drink of the sweet-smelling tea, The Doctor without looking away from the TV took it off him and drank it down himself before handing the empty cup back to Drannor. Drannor looked into the empty cup in disappointment and huffed softly.
Rose saw this and giggled, but the cheeky look in her eyes left and was replaced by one of guilt as a young black man walked in and everyone went quiet. Drannor heard something from one of the neighbors in the room about Jackie and Rose needing to apologize to Micky.
He jumped in surprise and then turned back to the TV as it suddenly switched channels to a brightly colored show. The Doctor was now trying to wrestle the remote from a child. Once he managed to free the remote the Doctor shooed off the child and the child decided to turn his interest to Drannor. Drannor thought about stealing the remote himself, he wanted to see how it worked, but he changed his mind when The doctor shot him a look that said behave.
Drannor managed to keep the child entertained and out of The Doctor's way until he left with his mum. Drannor had never been around children but found he had a soft spot for them, well at least for that one, he enjoyed telling him stories and answering the boy's never-ending questions.
The Doctor suddenly shouted at everyone to be quiet as he turned up the volume on the TV and leaned forward as the reporter talked about a body being found at the scene. He then looked down at the elf next to him, grinning. "Fancy doing some snooping whilst Rose deals with domestics?"
Drannor nodded in response. "If it gets me moving and off the floor, I'll happily join you."
IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII
That's how Drannor ended up with The Doctor, being held at gunpoint with their hands up. Suddenly there was a loud scream and The Doctor barked orders at the guards, Drannor had already pushed passed the guards and was crouched on the floor trying to comfort a scared disheveld woman in a white lab coat. "The creature, I thought it was dead, I was sure, but It's still alive. " The woman whimpered and Drannor helped her stand as the Doctor listened and prepared to sneak up on the creature.
There was suddenly a scared shriek and Drannor pulled the woman behind him as he got glimpses of something small rushing away. The Doctor ran out of the room shouting. "Don't Shoot!" But it was too late as a loud bang went off followed by a wet thud.
Drannor flinched at the loud noise and then went to see what was happening. He saw the doctor kneeling by a strange deformed pig as it slowly died in pain. "I told you not to shoot! It was scared and in pain, are you so thick that you didn't realize that?" The Doctor snapped at the guard and Drannor went over and put his hand on his shoulder. "Doctor? It's not the guard's fault either, it's the way he's been trained to kill without thinking. He already looks guilty enough, he didn't mean to." He spoke softly and the Doctor stood and shrugged Drannor's hand from his shoulder whilst shooting him a glare before getting back to the issue at hand.
The elf sighed softly and followed The Doctor, knowing that he'd upset him. He stayed quiet and watched as The Doctor spoke to the scientist, he didn't pay too much attention to what was being said as half of it was completely going over his head. Drannor hoped that once they were back in the Tardis and The Doctor's temper had sizzled down, The Doctor would explain to him what was going on.
IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII
The trip back to the Powell estate was a quiet and uncomfortable one, as they landed Drannor decided to try and be the first to reach out to settle things between them. "Doctor I'm sorry about before. But that soldier had to act quickly, it's how they survive." He looked across the console at The Doctor, as The Doctor sighed.
"It's different here Drannor, If a soldier acts quickly with a sword in his hand they have a chance to think and stop the swing of the sword. The weapons those soldiers had cannot be stopped once they've started, a slight pull of a finger and a life is gone. There's no putting a bullet back in the barrel. That's why they need to think first and not during or after."
Drannor nodded starting to understand more. "I didn't realize. The weapons were so terrifying if they can kill that quickly... I can't imagine the scale of war those things could cause and the casualties. Sorry again". The Doctor smiled slightly at him and walked over putting his hand on Drannor's and patting it. "It's all forgiven."
Rose suddenly burst into the Tardis along with the man Drannor recognized as Micky and Rose's Mum. Immediately the Doctor started talking. "No, no, no you're not making the Tardis domestic."
Drannor watched from the sidelines as Rose realized her Mum had followed her into the Tardis and was not exactly taking it well. "It's a bloody spaceship! Rose those two are aliens?!" Jackie was panicking as Rose tried to calm her and she suddenly shot out of the Tardis.
Rose sighed in frustration at her Mother and then looked at the Doctor. "Sorry about that, I didn't realize she'd decided to follow me." The Doctor who looked rather amused now nodded. "Apology accepted, right now enough of that domestic stuff, I've got some news, the landing is a complete and utter Hoax! But why? Why would aliens fake a crash landing?"
Micky spoke up then. "Perhaps they wanted the world on red alert."
"Great idea, put the planet on red alert to disguise the real invasion. Invade the planet whilst everyone's backs are turned ." The Doctor paused and looked at Micky then at Rose. "Who invited the idiot in? Didn't I say no domestics? When did he get here anyway?"
Drannor chuckled softly. "You know for an apparently advanced species you're not very observant, He walked in here with Jackie. Hi, Micky I'm Drannor it's nice to meet a friend of Rose's."
Micky gave a slight smile and nodded in appreciation at Drannor at least someone had noticed him.
The Doctor frowned at Drannor. "If you haven't noticed I've got much more pressing issues than random idiots that wander in." Rose elbowed him this time and muttered. "Oi be nice, he's just trying to help."
The Doctor grumbled to himself and straightened his jacket before heading towards the Tardis door, talking as he stepped out. "Now we just have to find where the source is." Rose and Drannor followed him along with Micky. When suddenly police cars showed up blocking off the roads and Micky quickly ran off. Drannor stood dumbfounded as he looked up at a helicopter that hovered above them.
Soon the three of them were bundled into the back of a nice black car. "If I knew being arrested would be like this I would have gotten arrested ages ago." Rose chuckled as she got herself comfortable next to Drannor.
Drannor shifted trying to get comfortable, sandwiched between The Doctor and Rose. "A lot more comfortable than the last time I was arrested, same limited amount of space though, Good to know that my planet isn't the only one that likes to squish convicts together."
The Doctor was sat grinning at them. "We're not being arrested we're being escorted"
"What do you mean? Escorted to where?" Drannor asked and The Doctor looked at both him and Rose with a sparkle of excitement in his eye. "Number 10 Downing Street."
Rose squealed. "Oh my god! We're being escorted to 10 Downing Street?!"
The Doctor chuckled. "I know great isn't it?"
Drannor looked between them both. "Would someone please explain what 10 Downing Street is and why you're both acting like children suddenly?"
The Doctor explained to Drannor that 10 Downing Street was where the person who ran the country lived and where important people gathered for meetings. "Ah okay, so on my planet and country, it would be like going to the king's palace," Drannor spoke without much excitement.
The blonde next to him looked at him with a puzzled expression. "Are ya not excited or something?"
Drannor shook his head. "Should I be? I've met Royalty before and all I can say is that I'm not a big fan, very overrated and they never look like their portraits. They would also rather let their people starve whilst lining their pockets. It's the same with anyone in power."
The Doctor now looked at him. "I suppose when you put it like that, makes it a lot less appealing."
"It's not like that here though, is it Doctor? We vote for the priminister so they have to be fair to us." Rose protested and The Doctor grimaced. "I can tell you and your mum don't watch the news."
"Oi what's that supposed to mean?!" Rose huffed and Drannor sunk back into the car seat, quickly speaking over the Doctor's retort. "Please don't start arguing, I feel like a child stuck between two parents when you both start bickering. At least be decent and wait until I've gone to bed."
The Doctor pouted and so did Rose. "We don't bicker!" The Rose spoke followed by The Doctor. "Yeah we don't, It's not bickering if the other person knows you're always right. It's debateing." Drannor shook his head he was pretty sure that's not what having a debate was.
"Oi" Rose shouted at The Doctor and Drannor sighed as they started up again. He suddenly shouted. "Right, that's it! Both of you shut your traps before I go insane. " Drannor a hand over both of their mouths. This would be the longest and the first car ride in his life.
IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII
Drannor was glad to get out of the car once it had stopped. He had been getting much too warm and wanted to stretch his legs. The Doctor grabbed his and Rose's hands as they were escorted to the inside of 10 Downing Street.
He looked around and had to say he was rather impressed with the inside, It was well-decorated with cheery yellow walls around the entrance and up the staircase. Drannor frowned softly as he and Rose were stopped from going into the meeting room with the Doctor. The secretary looked at them apologetically and explained how only The Doctor had clearance.
Drannor was about to make the argument that they should be allowed in since as The Doctor's companions he would tell them all the juicy details anyway, But Drannor was stopped as an older woman with brown hair approached them. "It's alright I'll look after them, they can stay with me whilst they wait for their friend."
Rose and Drannor looked at the woman, he held Rose's hand. He could sense that the older woman was anxious about something and scared. Rose spoke up then, "It's alright Doctor we'll see you soon. "
The Doctor nodded and gave them a smile before going into the meeting room. As soon as The Doctor left the older woman put a hand on Rose's arm and leaned in close to them both, speaking fast and softly as she showed an ID badge. "Harriet Jones MP for Flydale North. I need to urgently speak to you both. Don't look back and just keep walking." Harriet linked arms with Rose and led Drannor and Rose into a large office before quickly shutting the door.
"I assume because you both came with one of the experts that you can help me. I don't know who else to go to, or who it's safe to tell. The Alien's they-" Harriet suddenly burst into tears and Rose let go of Drannor's hand, quickly going over to the other woman and wrapping her arms around her. "Shhh It's alright, just tell us what happened and we can help."
Drannor frowned in worry and moved closer he was on edge now and kept looking around while listening to Harriet explain that the Aliens are using people as skin suits to hide themselves and how one of these skin suits was in the walk-in wardrobe of this room. A chill went down Drannor's spine as he looked over at the wardrobe's door.
Rose went to go to look but Drannor held his hand out to stop her. "It's alright, you stay with Harriet." He walked over to the wardrobe and opened it he felt a sick feeling in his stomach as he found the flesh suit hanging up on a coat hanger. "Oh, Gods." He picked it up and took it out of the wardrobe to get a better look at it in the light.
"I-is that a zip on the head?" Rose asked as she let go of Harriet and walked over to see the gruesome discovery. "Oh god it is, we need to get out of here and to The Doctor."
Drannor nodded in agreement and put the suit back into the wardrobe quickly closing it, then wiping his hands on his jeans. "I've seen many horrible things but that really makes my skin crawl."
He went with Rose to leave the room but Harriet stopped them. "Wait I have to get the emergency protocols they should be in this room. they're in a red case."
"I think protocols are the least of our worries right now," Drannor spoke up but started to help the woman look along with Rose. The look on Harriet's face told Drannor that these Documents must be very important.
Drannor was on his hands and knees under a desk searching for a red case when Rose let out a cry. In his rush to get to Rose, Drannor smacked his head on the desk. "Ow! Rose I'm coming!" He called and finally got out from under the desk to find Rose and Harriet standing over a dead body.
"It's the prime minister. " Harriet spoke softly her hand covering her mouth in shock. Drannor moved and gently took Rose's hand, pulling her away from the body. He could tell from her face that this was most likely the first body she had seen or one of the first. "Rose look at me, focus on me." He spoke softly giving a soft smile when he managed to get Rose's attention back to the present. Drannor knew from experience what it was like seeing the body of someone that you knew had been murdered.
"Harriet this is beyond silly now, you know you shouldn't be in here." The three of them looked over at the man who had entered, it was the secretary from before. The man started walking over to him but his eyes went wide and his face paled when he saw the body on the floor. "Is that the priminister?! But he shouldn't even be here! He's meant to be on holiday."
"And who told you that? " A smug calculating voice came from the doorway and Drannor moved pulling Rose behind him as he looked at the portly woman. He got a bad feeling in his stomach from this woman and he started to walk backward, trying to get as much distance between him, Rose, and this woman.
The sound of a loud fart left the woman. "Oops, that would be me." The woman laughed as she closed the doors behind her and then started to pull a zip that was just under her hairline.
A bright blue glow filled the room coming from the changing alien. "Rose, Harriet. I think we should start running." Drannor spoke but Rose and Harriet were too mesmerized by the bright light to hear him. That was until the creature was fully formed and let out a loud shriek.
"Oh, for the sake of all the Gods, we're trapped," Drannor muttered looking around, trying to find a way out.
Harriet started to move but the secretary stood in fear. Rose went to help him but Drannor quickly pulled her back just as the secretary was torn to shreds. They stared down the alien, trying to work out which way around the table it was going to run, suddenly electricity burst over the creature and it started screaming.
Drannor kept a tight hold on Rose's hand as the three of them took that chance to run. The green monster was soon close on their heels even though they had a head start.
The trio were just about to make it through another doorway to a hall when an Alien appeared in the doorway. Drannor jumped back with a start. "Fuck! Wrong way! Wrong way!" He yelled in panic and quickly let of Rose's hand pushing her and Harriet to turn and run the other way as he followed.
They managed to get into a room with long curtains, a dressing screen, a sofa, and a side table "Hide!" Drannor hissed and pushed Rose and Harriet to hide behind the curtain and dressing screen before quickly diving down to hide behind the side table.
Drannor steadied his breathing as he listened closely to the creatures just outside the room in the hall. He prayed that they would not come into this room, but his prayers remained unanswered as he heard the doors opening and the sound of shuffling feet. He could hear at least three creatures.
"My brothers." A female voice cooed followed by a male voice. "Happy hunting?"
"It's wonderful, the more you prolong it the more they stink." The female said gleefully.
"I can smell an old girl, her bones all brittle." The male voice replied then another male voice joined in. "And I can smell a creature far from home, its flesh smells so sweet."
Drannor tensed as the female started to talk about Rose. "Oh, a ripe youngster all hormones and adrenaline." Suddenly Rose let out a scream as the creature found her.
Harriet and Drannor shot out from behind their hiding places. "Wait take me! Take me first!" Harriet yelled with her hands up just as The Doctor came in shooting a fire extinguisher at the creatures, "Everyone quick behind me!"
Harriet immediately went behind The Doctor and Drannor went to help Rose but saw that she had it all under control, the girl had pulled the curtain down over the alien's head making it get tangled up in the long fabric. Both Drannor and Rose made it to the Doctor at the same time.
"Hello," The Doctor said cheerily to them both then he looked at Harriet.
"Who are you?"
She held up her name badge to the Doctor. "Harriet Jones, MP for Flydale North."
The Doctor grinned at Harriet. "Nice to meet you, Harriet, I'm The Doctor."
Drannor tugged on Harriet's and The Doctor's Arms. "Hey you two, let's do the introductions when we don't need to run for our lives."
"Good point." The Doctor spoke and then took off running, followed by Harriet, Rose then Drannor.
It was a scramble to get away from the fast creatures and by the time they had got into a secure room, the creatures were already heading towards them from the other doorway.
"Gods these things just don't give up do they?" Drannor muttered panting as he stood with the two women behind The Doctor, who was holding his sonic screwdriver against a decanter of alcohol.
"What's the buzzy thingy?" Drannor whispered to Rose and the girl replied. "It's called a sonic screwdriver. Does loads of things, The Doctor can explain it better than I can." He nodded at Rose, hoping he'd remember to ask the Doctor about it later.
"Stop! Nobody moves what I am doing right now is triplicating the flammability of this alcohol. If anyone moves then we all go woosh! Got it?" The Doctor asked the creatures. They stopped advancing immediately. "Good, now question time, who exactly are the Slitheen?"
"They're aliens," Harriet spoke up. The Doctor nearly rolled his eyes. "Got that, thanks."
"Who are you and the pointed ear one behind you if not human?" The male Slitheen spoke.
"Who's not human?" Harriet asked Rose and Rose answered. "He's not human."
Then Drannor spoke, "Me too, not human either."
Harriet looked between the Doctor and Drannor with wide eyes. "They're not human?" Harriet asked again and Rose shook her head.
"But they both have a northern accent," Harriet stated and Rose looked back at her. "Lots of planets have a north."
"Mine's a southern accent. This is how they sound on my planet." Drannor told the women.
The Doctor then turned his head to them. "Can I have a bit of hush?"
"Sorry." Harriet and Drannor spoke at the same time.
"Right, you lot what's the plan? You've got a spaceship hidden in the North Sea and you've murdered your way to the top of the British government. For what reason? Invasion?" The Doctor asked and the male slitheen replied. "Why would we invade this godforsaken rock?"
The Doctor tilted his head. "Well, somethings got the Slietheen Race here? What is it?"
The three creatures seemed to chortle at The Doctor as one spoke up. "The Slitheen race? we're not a race, that's our family name."
The Doctor smiled "So you're family then?"
"A family business." The creature replied sounding rather proud.
"Then you're out to make money, how can you do that on a godforsaken rock?" The Doctor asked them.
Drannor saw a change in one of the creature's stances, it suddenly seemed more at ease, putting Drannor on edge. "Err what did you say you were going to do to that alcohol?... Triplicate the flammability, You're making it up." The male who had been silent spoke up.
"I was wondering when you would catch up with that." The Doctor spoke a tight smile now on his face. "Here you go Harriet, take that." He went to pass the decanter to Harriet.
"You're meant to pass it to your left first," Harriet spoke softly and the Doctor passed it to Drannor who sniffed it and immediately took a few gulps. Rose looked at him with a raised eyebrow. "What? I'm thirsty and I'm sorry but your mum makes terrible tea. next time, well if there is a next time you're making mine and the Doctor's cups." Drannor grinned at Rose as he teased her.
"Cheeky." Rose muttered and then looked at The Doctor."Shouldn't we be running?"
The Doctor smiled. "Fascinating history Downing Street, 2000 years ago it was marshland. Then it was occupied by Mr. Chicken, a very nice man. Then in 1796, it became the cabinet room, If the cabinet is in session and in danger, these are about the four most safest walls you can be in. Lesson over." The Doctor flicked a switch next to the door and suddenly metal shutters sealed all of the doors and windows. "Installed in 1991, three inches of steel lining, they'll never get in." The Doctor grinned.
"But how will we get out?" Rose asked and The Doctors smile dropped. "Ah, didn't think of that."
Drannor put down the decanter on the table. "290 years of living and this is how I die. Starving to death in a room, at least the company is good."
The prime minister's body had already been moved but the secretary was still laid out on the floor. Drannor grabbed the body's torso and The Doctor came over to help lift the body's legs. "Harriet, do you know this man's name?" The Doctor asked, there was a sorrow hidden in his voice.
"No, I made him a coffee once but I didn't have too many interactions with him." She said looking over at the body Drannor and The Doctor were moving to a small store room, where the priminister's body also lay.
Once they had moved the body Drannor sat on the table swinging his legs as The Doctor went over to Rose. "Seen anything we can use in this room?."
"No, everything here is antique, I've been thinking Doctor, Why didn't they use the Priminister as a disguise after they killed him?" Rose asked and Drannor stood and walked over to the Doctor and Rose, also curious about this.
"Well, he's too skinny. As you've seen they're big old beasts. They simply wouldn't fit. So they go for bigger bodies and even with the bigger bodies they need to be compressed to fit into them. That's why they wear those collars, it's a compression field, that shrinks them down a bit but causes a lot of gas ." The Doctor spoke.
"Wish I could have a compression field, could fit a size smaller," Rose spoke without thinking and a chuckle left Drannor. "Imagine the farting though, couldn't go on a date wearing one of them, the smell would make the place evacuate."
Suddenly Harriet spoke up. "Excuse me this is not a time to be making jokes, people are dead." Drannor looked over at Harriet. "And we might be dead soon too, might as well make light of the situation. No point in dwelling on the dead right now"
Harriet looked appalled at Drannor, who turned back to speak with Rose as the Doctor looked over at Harriet, deciding he should try and ease some of the tension. "Harriet Jones, I recognize that name...are you famous for something?"
Harriet Scoffed softly. "Hardly I'm just a backbencher and a fat lot of use, I've been through all of the protocols and all the people that can help are dead downstairs."
IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII
Drannor spent most of his time pacing the room as he half-heartedly listened to Harriet, Rose, and the Doctor talking about things called nuclear bombs and launch codes. He decided that if they somehow miraculously got out of this situation alive then he'd asked The Doctor to teach him about technology on Earth so that he could understand more of what was going on around him. A beeping noise distracted him. "What was that?"
"Oh, I think it's my phone." Rose pulled her phone out of her pocket and Harriet went to stand next to her. "How did you get any signal?".
Rose pulled up her messages. "The Doctor zapped it, so now I can get a signal anywhere."
Drannor looked over Rose's shoulder, curious about the device, even more so when Rose pulled up a picture of a Slitheen on her phone. Rose quickly pressed some buttons after seeing the picture and then held the phone to her ear. "It's Micky," Rose answered at The Doctor's questioning look.
He rolled his eyes. "Well tell the idiot that we're busy." Drannor shook his head in amusement at the Doctor and moved to sit on the table.
"He sent a picture of a Slitheen. Not that stupid is he?" Rose asked The Doctor then turned her attention to the phone call. Speaking to Micky and asking if her mum is alright. Even from where Drannor was stationed he could hear Jackie's shrill voice on the other side of the phone. "Well. Jackie's definitely alive."
The Doctor nodded then took the phone from Rose speaking to Micky.
IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII
Drannor felt like he'd been in that room for hours now, so far they'd worked out that the Slitheen family were from Raxacoricofallapatorius. Luckily this was worked out just in time to help Micky and Jackie defeat the slitheen that had followed Jackie and Micky back to his flat. Drannor was rather impressed at how quickly Micky was following The Doctor's instructions to get a missile to launch.
"Rose, Drannor?." The Doctor lowered the phone and looked at the young blonde and the elf. "The only way we can stop them is blowing us up with them."
Without hesitation, Rose nodded and so did Drannor. "Do it," Rose said as her mother protested on the other side of the phone.
Drannor looked at The Doctor. "I agree, This may not be my planet but I don't want Billions of innocent people to die because of us."
Harriet stepped forward. "Since I'm the only one voted in to represent this country, I say do it. No, I command you to do it, Doctor."
The Doctor nodded and let out a sigh. "Micky press enter."
Drannor could hear Micky's voice confirming it was done. He ran his fingers through his hair and stood next to The Doctor.
"Do you regret traveling with me Drannor?" The Doctor asked and looked at him.
"No, it may have not been long but it was worth it. You saved me and showed me things no other has...you've also given me forgiveness even when I can't forgive myself. There's no one else I'd happily get blown up with." Drannor teased slightly but he was completely sincere.
Rose walked over then and smiled sadly. Drannor pulled her into a tight hug, he could see that she was trying to be strong. "I guess we'll never get you that compression field now." He teased her and a soft giggle left her but then she frowned and moved away.
"No we can't just accept this, there has to be some way of surviving this." Rose started to pace then a smile lit up her face as she ran to the storage cupboard and started emptying it. "I'd seen a documentary in school once and it said in an earthquake the best place to be is under doorframes and this is perfect, It's small so it's strong."
Drannor quickly went over to Rose and started helping her. He didn't understand any of it but he firmly believed that when trying to survive, one should try anything and never give up.
The Doctor got a big grin on his face. "Might not work but it's worth a try."
They had gotten the storage room cleared out within a few minutes and they were now all sat inside it squashed together. All of them holding hands, Drannor was sat between Rose and The Doctor. "Doctor if we live, promise me you'll get me up to date with everything on this planet, I've never felt so out of depth and useless before."
The Doctor smiled at Drannor and squeezed his hand. "You weren't useless, you helped keep Rose safe again. I'll teach you, I prom-"
With a deafening bang, The Doctor was cut off. Drannor cried out as he felt himself being thrown into the others and shelves in the room.
Once it had finally stopped Drannor was stuck under the Doctor. "Hahaha It worked!" He cheered as the Doctor climbed off of him and helped him to stand.
Drannor helped Rose and Harriet up as the Doctor opened the door and stepped out onto the rubble of 10 Downing Street. Drannor followed The Doctor out along with Rose.
Rose and The Doctor hugged tightly then he went over to Drannor hugging him tightly as well. The elf hugged him back as he laughed in relief and then grabbed The Doctor's face kissing the Doctor's cheeks.
Drannor didn't notice the flustered look on the Doctor's face before he turned from the Doctor to watch as Harriet ordered the guards about, taking control of the situation.
The Doctor smiled brightly as he watched Harriet. "That's it! I remember! Harriet Jones Second female priminister and takes Britain into another golden age."

Drannor felt exhausted when he finally got back to the Tardis with The Doctor, Rose was staying the night at her Mum's, so it was just them two. "Is it always this dangerous and exhausting." He wined as he stretched and walked into the Tardis kitchen with the Doctor.
"Not always, but it's always exciting, Now I fancy Banana bread before bed, how does that sound?" The Doctor grinned at him and Drannor sat at the kitchen table.
"No idea what banana bread is Doctor, But as long as it's edible I'm up to try anything. I think it's been a while since I last ate." The Doctor nodded and pulled a large loaf of banana bread out of the fridge then cut off two large slices and put each one on a plate. He sat down across from Drannor and put the plates down on the table.
Drannor picked up his slice of bread and took a bite out of it, a moan left him as he tasted it and closed his eyes in bliss. He chewed slowly and then swallowed before opening his eyes again. "So much better than the moldy bread and table scraps I'd been getting."
The Doctor grinned at Drannor. "Bananas are better than anything, here try this." The Doctor pulled a Banana out of his pocket and handed it to Drannor as he started to eat.
Drannor turned the yellow fruit around in his hands and he stared at it before taking a big bite out of it. He immediately spat it out. "That taste's nothing like the bread!" He exclaimed.
The Doctor nearly choked as he started laughing. "Sorry, I forgot to tell you to peel it."
"Sure you forgot..." Drannor said sarcastically as The Doctor laughed more. Drannor peeled the remaining part of the banana and then took a bite. "Okay that's really good now it's peeled, Hey would you stop laughing at me!"
The Doctor covered his mouth for a moment, sniggering before he managed to stop laughing. "Sorry, You just have a very amusing face." He teased.
"Shut up big ears!" Drannor stuck his tongue out at The Doctor and then finished off his banana bread, a small smile on his lips. It had been a long time since Drannor felt this happy and relaxed. "Thank You, Doctor."
"For what?" The Doctor asked before taking another bite of his banana bread.
"For helping me, even if I had managed to escape execution myself I still would have been under Captain Hadir's thumb. And I haven't felt so free and happy in such a long time. Even with all the danger. And your terribly rude company." Drannor teased.
"Hey, I'll have you know I am considered very good and polite company." The Doctor said his mouth was full of banana bread.
