She paced in front of me as I was sitting on the couch with a cup of cola between my fingers. The carbonation tickled my beak, but it was the first thing I'd had to drink all day. It was Heaven.

"So let me get this right," She said, her Eevee's tail twitched with concern for its trainer, glaring at me as if it expected me to explode or something.

"You were an experiment?"

"No, the Decidueye I'm in was an experiment."

"Okay, but you're in its body. So you're the experiment."

Opening my jaw to argue before closing it, "Well…I mean, yeah, I guess you're right."

"Criminy, so you're a scientist that's trying to make modified Pokémon, but your little buddy put your brain into your weird little experiment, and you think that he's trying to…what?"

"I- don't know,"

The silence is deafening.

"So you need my help to get you back in your body, is what you're saying?"

"Yes."

"You really don't know anything about what's going on with that, do you?"

I was stunned by her bluntness. The truth of it, I had no fucking idea what was going on or why, I just knew that it was bad.

"I…really don't." I said, "We found a really…powerful Pokémon, and since then he's been obsessed with it. I was a low level scientist, so I have no clue what's happening, but I did find something that probably caused me to wind up on the experiment table."

"Great! What is it?" Ficus asked

"You're not going to believe this." I said

"Give it to me."

"Are you ready?"

"Just tell me!"

"I don't remember what it is."

She slammed her palm against her forehead and paced again, growling and ranting under her breath.

"Look, just help me get there and we can get my body and-"

"Oh yeah, we just break in and steal an entire body! Then, we ask the people so nicely to stop? Come on, bird brain. You should know that's nuts."

More silence. Yeah, maybe I should have come up with more of a plan or even explanation.

"So…" I started

"So what? Get out of my room. I'm not going to help you save anyone."

"Come on, Madison, I bet it'd be a huge-"

"That's where I'm going to stop you," Ficus growled, "I'm not Madison. I'm her twin sister, Myrtle."

"So you lied to me?"

"You're a talking Pokémon who broke into my room. Of course, I lied to you!"

"Me? Your closest friend who you're going to help?"

"Get out of my house," She said, pointing towards the stairs. I could feel the anger rolling off her in waves.

Getting up, I placed the half empty cup of soda on the table and started towards the door. I truly had no idea what to do, who to go to.

"You know," I said, glancing back at her, "I didn't even know that Madison had a sister. If you have to lie about who you are to get status, maybe you're not even a person."

She flinched at my words, I could see thoughts clouding her gaze as I made my exit.

"Wait."

Trying to keep the shit eating grin off my face, I looked back down at her from the top step, "Sorry, I have to go. I don't have time for just anyone! The world needs saving."

"Stop being dramatic, I'm in."

Leaping down the steps, I threw myself on her, hugging her tight, "Get off me, feather face!" She growled, shoving me away, "And another thing, don't call me Myrtle, call me Ficus."
