For day 1 of Gochi Spring Fling "Rainbow"

Chichi smiled as she clambered out of the little tent, happy that the rain had finally ceased. She wasn't opposed to camping in the rain with her new husband, but it was stopping them from exploring Mount Paozu together. She sniffed the air, the smell of damp earth, bruised grass and wet leaves filling her nostrils. She wasn't used to the Earthy smell of the rain in the mountains, but it was very pleasant and she felt she could get use to it.

She smoothed down the skirt of her cheongsam as she gazed up at the sun that was now hanging high in the blue sky. She wondered where their adventures would take them today. She smiled sweetly as her husband climbed out of their tent after her.

"It finally stopped" Goku commented as he stretched his arms above his head.

"Yep, we can finally carry on exploring Mount Paozu together" she beamed up at him. Goku gave her a warm smile. He really liked that Chichi wanted to explore his home with him. No one ever wanted to do that with him before, except for his grandpa. Chichi told him they were on their honeymoon, and couples on their honeymoon went sight seeing and exploring together as a way of bonding. Goku didn't really understand it all, but he did like spending time with Chichi, she was a lot of fun and made the best food on their travels.

Goku suddenly found himself blushing. She made him feel good, too. Chichi called it intimacy, something Goku only really knew of from Master Roshi's special books. He didn't really understand why the old hermit read those books, at least not until now. Now, he completely understood and he was more than thrilled to be intimate with Chichi.

"So, where are we going next?" Chichi interrupted his thoughts.

"Huh?" Goku uttered in a bit of a daze. Chichi giggled at him.

"Where to next? We've seen a lot of the mountains now, although I'm excited to see Dragon Rock! But, I really want to see Diablo Desert, too!"

"Oh, well, we can go an' see Dragon Rock next, if ya like. Then I'll take ya to the desert. It gets real hot this time of year though, Chichi"

"That's okay, I've packed us some sun screen and I have hats for us, too" she chirped. Goku nodded, he was easy, he didn't mind what they did. He went to start taking down tent when Chichi suddenly squealed next to him.

"Oh, Goku, look! It's a rainbow!" she cooed. Goku looked to where she was pointing and saw the multicolored rainbow in the distance.

"It's a big one" Goku commented.

"My father told me that in our mythology, a rainbow is the pathway for holy spirits to cross" Chichi told him.

"Spirits? Ya mean like dead people?" Goku wondered.

"Well, sort of, but just their spirits cross over, not their bodies"

"That's weird" Goku thought.

"Maybe. Some people believe rainbows are a sign of good luck. I even heard a story from my village, that if you find the end of a rainbow, you will find a pot of gold" she chuckled out, the idea of a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow absolutely absurd.

"Really?" Goku questioned her, his interest sparked.

"Yeah, but that's just a silly old tale" she told him.

"But, what if it isn't a silly old tale? What if there really is a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow?" Goku questioned her.

"If there was, lots of people would have found the gold by now" Chichi reasoned, "We would have heard about it in the news or something"

"Hmm, maybe they just ain't lookin' hard enough" Goku wondered, tapping his chin, "I bet if there really is a pot of gold, we could find it!" Goku exclaimed.

"Goku, I don't think there really is-"

"-Let's go find it!" Goku interrupted her, a big smile on his face.

"Goku ... I don't know" Chichi thought, watching as Goku hastily took down their tent to pack it away.

"C'mon! It'll be fun! I'll take ya straight to Dragon Rock after that, I promise" Goku tried to coax her. Chichi thought about it for a moment as her husband slung their tent and other belongings in a backpack over his back. Chichi couldn't ignore the cute smile on his face, so she smiled back and relented.

"Okay, Goku, let's go find the end of the rainbow" she agreed.

"WOOOO! Let's go!" Goku cheered, before raising his hands to cup them around his mouth, "NIMBUS!" he called for his fluffy yellow cloud. Nimbus came shooting down from the skies only a couple of seconds later and hovered just above the ground, waiting for them to hop on.

Goku jumped up onto Nimbus first, holding his one hand out for his wife. Chichi took it gratefully and Goku pulled her up to join him. Goku sat behind Chichi, instead of in front as he usually did, due to the huge backpack on his back. This way, he didn't take up all the room or hit Chichi in the face with it.

"Okay, follow that rainbow, Nimbus!" Goku instructed his fluffy friend. Nimbus took off immediately, in the direction of the rainbow.

They flew on Nimbus for some time, both of them silently admiring the beautiful colours of the rainbow as they got ever closer to it.

"Hey, Chichi, what's a rainbow?" Goku all of a sudden broke their comfortable silence. Goku had seen a few rainbows on his adventures, but he never really understood what they were. Chichi was quiet for a moment, surprised by his question. Had no one taught him what a rainbow was? Looks like it was down to her to teach him! She wanted to be the best wife she could be for him, so if he wanted to learn about rainbows, then she will teach him all about rainbows!

"A rainbow is a multicolored circular arc made by light striking water droplets. Basically, when the sunlight strikes raindrops when it's been raining, the light reflects off the inside of the water droplets, separating it into wavelengths of colours and then exits the droplets to make a rainbow" Chichi tried to explain. Goku sat in silence for a moment as he thought about what she said.

"Hmm, so, when the sun shines on raindrops, it bounces off 'em an' makes the colours, which makes the rainbow" Goku tried to relay back in simpler terms.

"Yeah, that's pretty much it"

"Cool. I didn' know that" He told her honestly. Chichi reached back to tap his knee in a comforting motion.

"Well, you do now" she told him.

"So, do rainbows always appear when it's been rainin'?" he wondered further.

"Not always", she told him, "there has to be some sunlight to make a rainbow. If it's just dark and stormy, then you won't see one"

"Oh, okay" Goku murmured, satisfied with her answer.

"Have you seen many rainbows? I bet you seen quite a few with all the travelling you've done" Chichi guessed.

"I seen a few" Goku shrugged, "Once I saw two rainbows together" Goku told her.

"You did?"

"Yeah, the one was on top of the other one, I didn' know you could get more than one rainbow" Goku thought.

"Me neither, I bet it looked amazing" Chichi sighed.

"It was pretty cool" Goku agreed.

"I love rainbows, they're so pretty" Chichi cooed, clasping her hands together at her chest.

"Ye, they're pretty, like you, right?" Goku thought. Chichi found herself gushing at his words.

"Oh, Goku" she giggled out like a little school girl.

They continued their hunt for gold, Nimbus flying gracefully over the top of the rainbow, following the rainbow's arched decent into the clouds below.

"Okay, Nimbus, take us down" Goku told the cloud. Nimbus instantly dived, zooming down to the ground below, making Chichi feel like her heart was in her mouth as she turned her body slightly to cling tightly to her husband. Goku chuckled as they neared the ground.

"Don't worry, Chichi, I won't let ya fall" he assured her.

When they reached the ground Goku stood up on Nimbus and took Chichi's hand, pulling her up with him. He held onto her hand and they both jumped from Nimbus and onto the grassy terrain below.

"Look, there's the end of the rainbow!" Chichi exclaimed, pointing out in front of them. In all honesty, she had never seen the end of a rainbow before, so this was quite exciting. Both husband and wife ran towards the end of the rainbow, both of them hunting around for something, anything they could find.

"Aw, there's no pot of gold at the end, like they said there would be" Goku pouted. Chichi giggled lightly at her cute husband.

"It's okay, Goku"

"But I really wanted to find it for ya" he whined adorably. Chichi reached him and took his hands in hers and smiled warmly up at him.

"I already have my pot of gold, Goku" she told him gently.

"Ya do? Where?" Goku cocked an eyebrow in confusion. Chichi giggled some more. His innocence was so endearing, she loved it.

"You're my pot of gold, Goku. Well, you're better than any gold" she said with a light blush to her cheeks. It took a few seconds for it to click with Goku, but once he realised what she meant, he couldn't help but smile warmly at her.

"Aw, thanks, Chichi" he told her, a thoughtful look falling upon his face, "Hmm, if I'm your pot of gold, you're the tastiest most bestest food in the whole world!" Goku decided, making his little wife blush even more.

"Oh, Goku, you're so sweet" she giggled out, before rising onto her tip toes to kiss his cheek. Goku grinned bashfully, but proudly.

"So, ya wanna go find Dragon Rock now?" he asked her.

"I'd love to" she told him gently, still keeping hold of his hand. Smiles on their faces, husband and wife walked hand in hand back to the flying cloud to continue their adventure.

They may not have found a pot of gold, but they had already found each other.

Always try to be a rainbow in someone's cloud ~
