For day 2 of Gochi Spring Fling "Gardening/Picnic"

Chichi hummed a delightful little tune to herself as she plated up another large bowl of rice on the kitchen counter. She'd laid out many plates of her boys favourite foods on the counter and kitchen table, ready to take out the garden for their little picnic.

As she set the rice aside, she peered around at all of the dishes, mentally ticking off everything she had cooked. All that was left was the chicken wings that were sizzling away in the oven. 5 more minutes and they would be done.

The sound of sweet laughter suddenly caught her ears, so she peeked out of the kitchen window to see Goten running across the garden, giggling like a maniac, being chased by his father who had the water hose in hand. She also noticed that her husband had shed his shirt and was clad in just his black shorts, her youngest son in just his tank top and little blue shorts.

Chichi couldn't help but chortle as she watched her two boys playing. She left her husband alone for 10 minutes, instructing him to water the plants in their garden. It seemed it didn't take long for him to cause mischief. He'd only been back home a week and it seemed some things never changed. She shook her head amusingly at her husband's antics before going back to the oven to check on the chicken wings.

"Hey, mom, want me to start takin' stuff out?" Gohan asked her as he wandered into the kitchen.

"Oh, thanks honey, that would be great. The picnic blanket is already out there, hopefully your father hasn't soaked it" she told him. Gohan huffed out a laugh, knowing full well that picnic blanket was going to be wet. He piled up a load of plates on both arms and sauntered happily out to the garden.

"AHHHH" he screeched as he took just a few steps out of the kitchen door, before being attacked by the hose as his father and Goten came running around the corner with it.

"Oops, sorry son, didn' see ya there" Goku giggled out.

"Big brother! Guess what!" Goten suddenly shouted to his brother, not even slightly bothered that some of the food almost got wet.

"What's up squirt?" Gohan asked him, walking off to set the food down on the picnic blanket, which actually appeared untouched.

"Me an' daddy found a mountain lizard earlier! It was a big one! It was green with red spots all over it an' a big long tail!" He exclaimed in pure excitement, stretching his arms out to emphasize the size of it.

"Wow, lucky you to see a big one!" Gohan commented, carefully setting all the plates down on the red checkered blanket.

"Wow, this looks amazing!" Goku practically drooled as he gazed at all the food, "they don't make food like this in other world"

"No one makes food like mom" Gohan added.

"No way, you're mom's the best" Goku chirped.

"Goku! Have you put that hose away?!" Chichi suddenly called from the kitchen.

"Uhh, yeah!" He shouted back, "Oops, better put this back" he whispered to his boys before running off with the hose. Gohan shook his head at his dad as he ran off to the hose pipe reel attached to the side of the house. Gohan collected another load of dishes of tasty food to take outside when Goku popped his head into the kitchen once he was done with the hose, to see his wife plating up some BBQ chicken wings.

"Mmm, they smell so good!" Goku commented as he walked through the door, ruffling his eldest son's hair as he passed him.

"They turned out very good, if I do say so myself" she smiled at him, "Can you help me take them out? And grab those glasses, I have some home made fruit juice here" she told him, pulling out two large jugs of juice, with real pieces of lemon and lime floating at the top and several cubes of ice.

"Sure thing, babe" he cheeped, collecting all the chicken wings on one arm and grabbing the glasses with his other hand. Chichi followed her husband outside, her eyes roaming over his bare, muscled back, to where their two children sat waiting patiently for them to join them. After setting down the chicken wings, Chichi prompted her boys to eat up as she passed around glasses of ice cold fruit juice.

it didn't take long for the plates to be emptied, all 3 of her boys sitting back and rubbing their full tummies. It was funny how alike they all were when it came to food.

"Man, I missed your picnics" Goku told her after necking back the rest of his juice.

"I'm glad you enjoyed it" she told him sweetly, reaching over with a napkin to wipe Goten's grubby face.

"D'you remember our last picnic, dad? It was me, you, mom and Krillin by the lake" Gohan asked his father as he lay back on the grass, hands folded behind his head.

"Ye, how can I forget. Me an' Krillin decided to jump in the lake afterwards, seein' who could find the biggest fish to take home for dinner" he smiled fondly at the memory.

"Who found the biggest fish, dad?" Goten wondered.

"Daddy, of course" he winked at his son.

"Ye, Krillin thought he had at first and really rubbed it in. Didn't he say somethin' about beatin' a Super Saiyan" Gohan chuckled out.

"Ye, 'Almighty Super Saiyan my ass' he said 'couldn' even find the biggest fish" Goku smirked, "then a few seconds later I pulled out the biggest fish from the lake an' his face dropped" Gohan and Goku laughed, Chichi smiling at the memory.

"Aw, Krillin was so bummed" Gohan chuckled out.

"He was so annoyed" Goku remembered, "He sat with me afterwards an' said how annoying I was 'cause I always got the best of everythin'"

"He did?" Gohan was intrigued, turning his head to face his father.

"Ye, said I got it all - the looks, the girl, the power" Goku giggled, "Said it wasn' fair that I won all the time, especially 'cause half of the time I didn' even need to try"

"Aw, Krillin's funny" Gohan commented, looking up at the blue sky.

"How wrong he was. Got himself a girl in the end" Goku spoke proudly, "Although, I wasn' expectin' it to be Android 18. That was a shock"

"He saved her life an' wished for the explosives inside her to be removed, that way she could pretty much live a normal human life, well, as normal as normal can be" Gohan laughed out.

"He was head over heels for her, huh" Goku spoke, relaxing back on his palms.

"Sure was" Gohan agreed.

"Good for him" Goku smiled warmly at the thought of his best friend being happily settled down with a family of his own. It was about damn time, he thought.

The family of four continued to enjoy catching up with one another as they relaxed in the sun, laughter filling the air as they shared memories. Gohan offered to clean up and dragged his little brother up to help him take the dirty dishes inside, allowing their parents some alone time.

Goku was laying on his side, elbow propped up, resting his cheek in his palm as he gazed at her.

"What?" She asked him with a little smile.

"Nothin' ... just missed this" he gently told her. Chichi snorted.

"You missed my cooking, you mean"

"I did, but that's not all I missed"

"I'm sure you had a blast up there. You've told us many stories of your adventures" she reminded him.

"I ain't gonna lie, I had a lot of fun up there, but it ain't the same as bein' here" he gently spoke.

"Is that so?"

"Look at this place, Chichi" he told her, glancing around at their surroundings, "Lived here my entire life. I really missed everythin' about this place, the sounds, the smells, the way it makes me feel at peace"

"It is a beautiful place to live" Chichi quietly chipped in, her eyes staring off into the distance. Goku noticed the change in her demeanor and sat up, scooting closer to her.

"I missed you" he whispered to her, gently combing some loose hair from her face, behind her ear. Her eyes caught his gaze and for a moment he felt like he was looking into a sky full of stars. His little wife said nothing as she held his gaze, almost as if she was trying to find the truth in his words.

"Come with me" she told him, putting an end to their lingering stare. She stood up and held out her hands for his, and he took them without a second thought, allowing her to pull him to his feet. She dropped his one hand, interlinking the fingers of her other hand with his as they walked along the line of trees in their garden.

"You okay?" Goku blurted out, eyeing his wife intently as they walked side by side.

"Notice anything new in the garden?" She suddenly asked him. She glanced up at him and noted the confused look on his face. She then observed as he looked around their garden at the many trees, bushes and flowers.

"These are new" Goku noticed as they approached two large apple trees in the garden. They had apple trees growing, but they were a bit further out.

"Gohan and I planted them after you died. Apple trees always reminded me of you"

Goku marveled at the large apple trees and let go of her hands so he could pluck two apples from it and handed one to her. Chichi smiled sweetly as she took it from him.

"Thank you. Apples always reminded me of our first date. Do you remember our first date?" She asked him as he munched on his Apple. He swallowed what was in his mouth before speaking.

"Ye, I didn' know what a date was, though" he chuckled out.

"You didn't know what a bride was, either. You thought it meant food" she reminded him, poking him playfully in his side.

"To be fair, I wasn' completely wrong 'bout that" he told her with a suggestive wink.

"Goku" she chided him, a faint blush hitting her cheeks, making him chuckle. Chichi fumbled with the apple in her hands as Goku finished devouring his.

"I was a silly little girl picking flowers for our wedding when you gave me an apple and I thought you were really there for me, not just to eat the apples" she giggled out, "I thought you were clueless, but so was I"

"I was definitely clueless back then" he agreed. As he peered up at the many apples hanging in the tree, he started to remember their first date, a smile spreading across his face.

"So, if I remember correctly, ya just do the most pleasurable thing you can think of when you're on a date, right?"

Chichi smiled brightly. He remembered.

"Right"

He grinned at her and balled his right hand up into a fist and playfully made a swing for her, slowly and gently, allowing her to dodge it, before landing a punch in the middle of the tree trunk, just like he did as a kid.

Chichi couldn't stop the laughter as she swiftly dodged his punch. But, instead of fighting with her, like they did on their first date, Goku took her in his arms, and pressed his lips against hers in a tender kiss. Chichi hummed delightfully as he kissed her, dropping the apple to the grassy ground and wrapping her slender arms around his thick neck.

"You're right, Chichi. Dating is fun" he whispered softly against her lips, using the same words he had many years ago on their first date.

"You're impossible" she whispered back.

"I believe you said I was adorable" he corrected her, wiggling his eyebrows at her, making her giggle.

"Mmm, you are pretty cute" she breathed against his lips, making them tingle, before pressing her own against them. Goku smiled mid-kiss, holding her closer to him as the kiss became more sensual.

"Hey, Gohan?" Goten called his big brother as he stood on the kitchen chair at the sink, looking through the window.

"Yeah, Goten?" Gohan answered him, grabbing the last few dishes and placing them carefully into the bubble filled sink.

"Are momma an' daddy kissin'?" He asked him. Gohan suddenly become flustered as he caught sight of their parents making out beneath the apple trees.

"Uh ..." Gohan couldn't finish his sentence as he watched his father's hands descend lower down his mother's back and ... "Okay, let's go get your bath runnin'" Gohan quickly decided, picking up his little brother and rushing out of the kitchen.

"But, we didn' finish the dishes!" Goten reminded him as they rushed out of the room. That was the least of Gohan's worries.

"I'll finish them later" he told his brother as they reached the bathroom.

Chichi broke the heated kiss with her husband and relished in the warmth of his arms as she rested her head against his large chest. She smiled against his glistening skin, listening to his heart beat as he pressed a gentle kiss to her forehead, before resting his chin on her head.

"I missed you, too" she softly whispered to him.
