"Niecalli!"
It has been years since the Octo-Squid's rampage outside Talokan, and since they took the child, now a toddler, in. They never really discover where she comes from or how she gets there. When they ask, she does not seem to remember either. Even her name, she does not know. Thus, they have given her the name Niecalli, pronounced as nee-yeh-ka-lee. It is derived from the masculine name, Necalli, meaning 'battle' because it seems to suit her regarding her skills.
She is no doubt a Talokanil, blessed with the ability to commune with marine life and persuade them to do her bidding. At such a young age, she can control an Octo-Squid for protection, albeit on a rampage. Octo-Squids usually take months to tame and with much control on communing by multiple Talokanils. Commanding a marine life out of one's skill level leads to multiple side effects like headaches, nausea, nose bleeds, and loss of consciousness to name a few. So, it is surprising and admirable how she can do it without sustaining injuries ordering a marine life out of her league. And it is out of her league because she has never been able to do it again… to any marine life for the matter. Even communing with tiny krill is a hit or miss. As for her ability to control water, shooting Namor in the chest the first time they met, she is rarely able to do it or sometimes not at all. Even then, she is chosen as next in line to Namor. Her talent in controlling water is what secured her position as successor. Being able to control the environment they live in is a great asset in keeping the Talokanils safe and thriving. Although, with Namor's lifespan, being alive and ruling for centuries and all… it is doubtful she will ever rule but it is better to be cautious and ready for when the time comes. Seemingly, her skills only shows during extreme stress and her control is abhorrent since she is extremely young when she last demonstrated them. So, a lot, and they mean a lot of training is needed for her to be considered ready to lead.
"Focus!" Namor asserts.
His shout takes Niecalli out of her thoughts. The two are found in an underwater cave with remarkable stalactites that hang above like chandeliers. Niecalli sits crossed legs on a big rock. On her face, a custom-fit mask filled with water is positioned with the same cup found on both of her shoulders covering her gills. She stares at stray seaweeds floating on the clear, ocean waters, emitting a turquoise glow that illuminates the whole place, in concentration as Namor stands beside her.
"You are finally able to move the seaweed with much focus so don't let your thoughts drift." Namor explains. "Your control of water should be as simple as breathing."
"I know I am trying… but using my head too much hurts." She falls on her back and flails her arms, stretching it to her sides while laying down as she spoke.
She turns her head towards Namor and pouts. "Can we take a break?"
"Alright little one. Go take a break." Namor bends his waist and pats her head. "You will need all the energy you need when you practice communing with sea life with Namora and train spear wielding with Attuma."
Niecalli drapes her arms on her eyes and groans while Namor gives her a look and laughs as he walks away.
"I've always wondered what those wings on your feet were." Niecalli mumbles as she lies on her side, poking Namor's tiny ankle wings.
"Stop that." Namor moves his feet. "It grants me the ability to swim in the air."
Niecalli sits up abruptly. "You can fly?!" She screams while staring at Namor's blank face.
"Nooo…" She says questioningly as she stares at him incredulously, side-eyeing him.
"I do actually."
"I don't believe you"
Namor gave out a chuckle and shrugs.
"So can you fly or not?"
Namor gives a suspicious smile and shrugs again.
