Chapter 1: Enter The Slayer

The Slayer had just returned to the Fortress of Doom.

The Icon of Sin had been slain and Earth had finally been saved from the demon hordes of Hell.

After much needed repairs and cleaning of his suit and vast assortment of weapons, the Doom Slayer had remained within the Fortress of Doom for some time now overseeing the remaining forces of Hell from radio broadcasts while occasionally training in the Ripatorium.

Despite having Samuel Hayden, giving his own opinions on the matter, the Hellwalker honestly preferred VEGA a better companion.

Nonetheless, he was stuck with him for the time being.

While this should've been a moment of peace for the Slayer, he knew all too well that his work was not done just yet.

Things like peace and happiness had to be fought for, after all.

It was only a matter of time before Hell would make it's next move on this Earth, so the Slayer would make his move first.

He planned on going after the source of Hell itself, the one that many worlds and religions across space, time and the infinite Omniverse referred to by many names.

Samuel Hayden advised that he coordinate with some UAC workers on Earth that weren't complete cultists, even though the Slayer never forgave the company as a whole for what they unleashed.

Oh well, he needed a way there anyways so he wouldn't refuse. Just as long as they didn't get in his way, he'd allow them to point the way to whoever's ass needed kicking.

However, before the portal to the UAC base could be opened, the lights in the Fortress began glitching and flickering.

The Slayer got on guard arming himself with his Super Shotgun instantly. Samuel tried responding to the Hellwalker. His voice only seemed to glitch too however.

By the time it cleared up though, the Slayer's focus was onto something else entirely.

Before him on the bridge stood not a blue portal like he's used to, or even a red portal that would indicate a form of Hell attacking, but a golden portal with strange mystical runes rotating around it.

The Slayer at first suspected something to come out and pounce him but nothing came out. The Khan Mayker pulled a similar stunt like this before, but that didn't stop him.

He eyed the glowing portal, having never seen anything like it before.

Hayden then gave his input on the situation.

"I am detecting no argent energy or demonic presence within this portal. Whoever opened this and whatever may be on the other side, I have no idea. All I can tell from this is that Hell is not responsible for this.", the cybernetic intelligence responded within the Slayer's helmet.

As much as he wanted to persuade the Slayer against investigating it, he knew it would be pointless.

The Slayer had already stepped in and passed the point of no return.

The golden portal soon closed as lights reactivated within the Fortress of Doom, leaving everything inside silent and still.
