Author note: I made a slight change to thelong-term story alongside the main character list that you should see at thr character's tag. Just telling you in case you were confused by the change.

And now to the new chapter.

"Already at the edge of next city and we traveled for just a single day. I don't even try to explain how did we walked so much in so little time." Koume said to herself as she walked up to the last parts of natural forest before the edge of Cherrygrove city, a halfway point of her walk towards the first gym.

"Meep, meep." Buneary beeped near her leg, pointing forward at the Quagsire akwardly running away sideways to them.

"Huh? What's happening in there?" Koume asked herself before two tired young man in dark suits with red 'R' letter on the front.

"Damn it Charlie! Officer Jenny is going to be at us!" One of the grunts shouted at the second one.

"Calm down Bill, we are two and she is one with a silly Arcanine." Second one responded, dropping his pokeball onto the ground and releasing Krabby.

"Oh yeeeah!" Bill smiled, allowing his Sudowoodo to come out. "We can beat her with type advantages!"

"As if I ever allowed you to do that!" Koume shouted at them, making the quartet look at her in surprise while her Buneary came forth with narrowed eyes.

"And what are you gonna do, throw this little bunny at us?" Bill asked her, snorting with disrespect.

"Maybe." She responded before Buneary made Baby-Doll Eyes and persuaded two Team Rocket's pokemon to relax with their readyness fot battle. "But I can also do that!"

"Really? You two are not willing to beat up this stupid kid?" Charllie rolled his eyes with annoyance, then taking his second pokeball and releasing Raticate into the battle. "Now go and bite these fools!"

"Buneary! Double Kick!" Koume quickly responded, having her pokemon sidestep the rushing Bite and then deliever two quick kicks to Raticate before sending it back to their owners with spiral eyes and general faint condition.

"Wait, how did this little bunny screwed him over with a single hit?!" Charlie exclaimed, throwing tantrum while Sudowoodo and Krabby came bact to their senses.

"Whatever mate, let's just get out of here!" Bill added, taking his pokemon back and running away into the forest.

"Not a problem for me!" Charllie shouted back at him while Sudowoodo took a serious battle stance. "Stealing pokemon is a long-term project anyway."

"Stealing pokemon? But why?" Koume asked him, opting to talk her way out of the fight.

"Profit, kid. Maybe you would understand if you were looked down upon for shittier clothes." Team Rocket grunt scoffed, rising his fist. "But enough talk! Sudowoodo, use Wood Hammer!" He added before his pokemon's right arm began glowing in dark-green colout before the user rushed forward.

"Uh-oh, not good." Koume thought, taking two steps back as Buneary stood still with tense look on her face. "Spheal has a Fighting move Rock Smash... Right!"

"Buneary! Double Kick again!" She exclaimed just in time fot her partner to deliever two kicks and knock the tree pokemon backwards.

"Can't be touched up front, huh?" Charllie growled, stretching his arms as if he was to be here for longer. "Now use Rock Throw!"

"Sudooo!" Sudowoodo whistled before taking a solid chunk of earth and throwing it towards Buneary which automatically dodged the attack by jumping backwards.

"Nice one!" Koume cheered, pumping up her partner for further battle.

"I can't hit you but you can't hit me, how ironic." Charlie smiled, taking out his Team Rocket lunchbox. "Since Officer Jenny didn't find us by now, she won't come to save you anytime so-!" He began to taunt her, but was interrupted by a Water Gun directly hitting him in the face while Arcanine jumped up to Sudowoodo and began the exchange of barks with emoty howls.

"And where do you think you're going?" A rather sturn woman with short green hair and in police force outfit asked him, a lone Quagsire standing near her to the left. "Don't you know that Quagsire is a protected species in this region?"

"Ohh yeaaah, about that..." Team Rocket's grunt responded hesitantly, slowly backing down from the scene while one of Koume's pokeballs began to shake aggressively. "Dude, I am Team Rocket! These things mena nothing to me." He explained in a bit calmer way, just in time for Sudowoodo to smack Arcanine aside with a Hammer Arm. "What will you do no-!" He began to taunt again, but was cut short as Eevee smashed his head with Iron Tail, quickly running up to Sudowoodo and delievering two slashed onto it's back which resulted in double faint by surprise.

"Hheeeevee..." Small pokemon growled, spitting on the face of dazed and confused criminal before taking his pokeball and casually catching Sudowoodo back with it as if he was the trainer.

"Erm... Thanks for the help, sweetie." Koume said in a akward way, looking at Eevee walking back to her with a shit-eating grin in his face. "No need to be that rough next time, okay?"

"May I ask you for identification please?" Officer Jenny asked her, looking at her with neutral glare.

"Of course!" Koume exclaimed as a result of dopamine rush, quickly giving her trainer card inside her Rotom-phone for inspection.

"Mhm, mhmmm... Then that you for the assistance, because you are perfectly clear in criminal records." Police officer nodded after a while of reading while the second Officer Jenny drived up to them in a offroad-adjusted SUV with all characteristics of police car.

"But since you also helped us protect the, well, protected species..." Second police officer added, peeking from the window with an oddly curious Bellsprout peeking from below her head. "How about a small ride in a chosen direction?"

"Here we are then. Whatever five more pokemon wants to follow you, are yours." Sushil said before leaving the room he and Mako organised together for the latter within last two minutes.

"Fine then, I guess I slept enough on my way here." Mako responded, talking more to herself than him or Sinistea, who gave her a doubtful look. "I know, I know, I am a sleepy one. But I won't be able to spend so much time this way now that my Grandma is dependant on what I make here." She added, walking out of the room and seeing duo of Magnemite and Dwebble looked up at her.

"... Need something?" Mako asked them, taking to pokeballs from her pockets. "Or maybe someone?"

"Brrr..." Magnemite vibrated out of himself, flying up to her and touching the ball before being taken into it with a pink mist surrounding him.

"You too then, I guess?" She asked afertwards, throwing her pokeball towards Dwebble with basically the same result. "Fair enough, if you want so..." She sighed before closing the doors behind her and moving forward into the preserve zone with Sinistea following shortly after her.

"... Weird." Mako suddenly said, stopping after a while of walking just in front of the small pond, looking at the other side where a reddish orange creature on four legs jumping forward and backwards in an attempt to actually his what seemed to be a regular flamingo, that is unless the fact of the latter brutally kicking him away time after time isn't taken into consideration. "Flareon and Flamigo just fighting?" She asked, checking her pokedex entries while her Sinistea flew forward to see what was the issue. "Since I'm still intrested in it, I might just check on the two..."

"Kraaa!" Flamigo squealed with annoyance, bulking up his legs and kicking Flareon so hard that he was slammed into the nearby boulder, smashed it into pieces and landing behind it with a painful scowl.

"That's what happens if you anger the wrong person." Mako shrugged her arms, walking around the water towards the beaten up eeveelution while Sinistea approached Flamigo to find out why they were fighting.

"Kheh! Khekh!" Flareon coughed, standing up from the ground and emittimg some purple smoke from his mouth.

"You really think that changes something?" Mako asked him, standing directly between him and rather annoyed Flamigo.

"Hoff?" Flareon gasped her in suprise, the walking to the side, away from the purple gas.

"You won't just walk beside me." Mako reacted, also walking to the side as to block him the straight way towards the supposed opponent.

"Kraah, khwaa." Flamigo said with hearable lack of intrest as he shrugged his wings and signaled Sinistea that she should fly back to her trainer.

"Grrrr... Graaaaaw!" Flareon roared, slowly walking forward towards Mako with a very angry attitude.

"This won't work on me." Mako send him her usual stale, moody glare. "Neither does it work on the buddy who was about to just beat you sensless." She added just as Sinistea flew up to her side.

"..." Flareon narrowed his eyes before opening his mouth widely and emitting a poisonous smoke.

"... Just clog him." Mako commanded with annoyance, to which Sinistea obeyed by flying into the smoke and getting herself stuck inside Flareon's mouth in a way that prevented any smog from the inside from being yawned outside.

"Kraa-haha!" Flamigo cackled behind her, looking rather satisfied with the outcome as Flareon's eyes widened, cheeks turned purple and the whole body shaked before he fell onto his side, breathing excessively while his mouth kept trying to crush the tea cup.

"Bellsprout, use Sleep Powder." Sushil commanded, showing up with one of the other pokemon under his care.

"Let me guess, I was not supposed to go that hard on him?" Mako asked with the lifeless tone while Sushil walked up to already sleeping Flareon and plugged Sinistea out from his mouth with a single, strong grab of his arm.

"Neither was I to not left this poor buddy in that state, so this time it's fully justified." He sighed, picking up the red body from the ground. "But let's head back to the lab now, he still needs caretaking as for now."

"Thank you!" Koume smiled, her and Buneary waving their hands as Officer Jenny drove away after leaving the two directly in front of the local gym. "Violet's City Flying Gym is already here... Better for us if we eat something and rest before the battle." She added, turning around and looking for a restaurant or at least grocery store.

"Meep!" Buneary beeped under her, pointing towards the fairly sizeable single-storey building with purple wall and cyan letters 'Vex-Smith Eating and Sleeping' at the front.

"Thanks for help. I think this solves our issue." Koume patter her on the head before allowing the rest of her team to come out. "Now then, how about we go inside and check what we can eat in there?"

"..." Mako blandly stared down at Flareon, who just woke up and began rolling his eyes.

"Yup, he's fine now." Sushil added, taking away the needle with the rest of Poison Heal inside of it before placing it down at the table simple labeled as 'Things to wash before usage'. "Kind of suprised you actually took an action there."

"Me too." She sighed, barely holding her head straight, just as if the gravity force affected her harder than others around her. "But sometimes you need to move up from your comfourt zone for a sake of those you care about."

"That's very mature for someone your age."

"I know, but not everyone can have the luxury of having a childhood." Mako responded, to which Flareon immedieately stood up and looked at her.

"I see you touched him at least." Sushil smiled, looking forward at the two. "Intrested in his life story?"

"... He seems to be intrested in mine, so I guess..." Mako nodded, picking Flareon up from the table and into her arms. "But we will do it on our own if you don't mind."

"Not even a bit. You have better contact with him than me." He responded, spreading his hands widely before walking up to the door and opening them widely. "I'll stay here and do paperwork for a while, just tell me about the ending results."

"Fair enough, we can manage." Mako shrugged her arms as she, Sinistea and Flareon left the room and Sushil closed the doors behind them. "Well then, do you want to start?" She asked the fire eeveelution as they turned to the right and began walking towards her daily room.

"*Sniff* Woof?" Flareon rised his head even further, looking at her with clear suprised painted on his face.

"Yes, I'm asking you to share it first." She nodded, which was backed up by Sinistea giving him a a polite look from the side. "Unless you want it the other way."

"... Woof." Flareon howled shortly, dropping down from her arms and beginning to carve lines in the ground.

"Oh right, you don't speak human language." Mako said to herself before looking down as Flareon and apparently also Sinistea finished their paintjob on the ground. "Trainer pick me with no smile. Smog, no fire. Trainer mad. Me out..." She read in silence as the two gave her space and time to look down onto the writings. "So, your previous trainer didn't really love you... And then didn't wanted you because all your attempts on making fire moves ended with smoke and poisonous gas, huh." She concluded, not even asking them whenever she was right.

"Hee?" Sinistea grunted with a slight holdup, flying up to her with questionable face.

"I have perfect eyesight alongside top grades in school before they kicked me for constant class skipping. I know what I'm reading." Mako waved her hand in a sign of self-confidence before looking back at Flareon. "Reminds me a little of myself. Even though I could just go to sleep earlier." She added before crouching in front him, releasing Magnemite and Dwebble in a meantime. "Now, how about we have take a siesta together? I'm getting sleepy..."

"Haven't expected this place to have such a good rice soup." Koume said to herself as her team tumbled out of the restaurant with full bellys and joy of life on their faces.

"Meep!" Buneary beeped, jumping up and down near her legs.

"Yeah, pokemon food was great too." She added, looking back at the spiral tower that made the gym. "A Flying-type, huh? Let's see..." She muttered while taking out the Rotom-phone and checking the section of type advantages. "Strong against Bug, Fighting, Grass and Ground, weak against Electric, Rock, Steel and Ice... I think we can do this." She added, turning back to her team. "Sandshrew, Spheal, you'll be the main force here. Trapinch, you will skip this one because of type disadvantage. Buneary, Ducklett, Eevee, you will go in when the situation becomes dire. Can I count on you?"

A large ammount of nods and positive squeals came back to her.

"Thank you guys. Now let's go!" She added with a positive tone as the group came back into her pokeballs and she resumed her journey towards the first real challenge.

"Ey, Mako! You're alive?" Sushil asked, storming into the room with battle-ready facial expression.

"*Yawn* I'm up, I'm up." She responded, moving her torso up from the bed as her pokemon also stood up with well-rested moves.

"Sweet, because I kind of need you right now." Sushil responded, turning around and making two steps forward so she could exit her her bedroom.

"And for what?" Mako asked, getting herself to move with Magnemite and Sinistea holding her body from falling down or to the side.

"Do you know something about Maginot Grils College?" He asked, making her rise an eyebrow.

"That private school themed after Pre-War France? What are they looking for in here?" She responded, rather suprised by the question.

"Not they, but their Sensha-do commander. Do you know her?" Sushil asked again, looking forward as if he waited for someone.

"Eclair, I learned a little about her a bit before Oarai kicked me out." Mako answered, rolling her eyes. "Still, I don't know why she would want anything to do with us while her school actively hates on by third-graders after the way Anzio messed them in current National Championship thanks to bad tactical decision from what I heard."

"Precisely." Sushil smirked, making her slightly confused. "I think we can make some friends on the other side of the sea by finding a right person and backing her up."

"So you want to give her pokemon as a business venture?"

"Not really, more like making a friend in need." Sushil added, finally seeing two pokemon approaching them. "The point is, as the only one here in a school I need you to verify if the two volunteers are the right ones for the job."

"Very well then... Metagross and Glaceon I see?" Mako nodded, then seeing the two pokemon approaching them.

"I see the perfect eyesight again." Sushil joked as the two pokemon stopped in front of the group. "Anyways, what information do you need?"

"What are their personalities?" She asked him, scrutinising the two pokemon with her analytical look.

"Metagross is a positive pacifist with preference of tactical work who ws raised and evelved here from a single l Beldum and Glaceon is a loyal pal who seeks loving owner after the previous ones were not so great." Sushil responded, earning a questionable look from her.

"What happened to Glaceon?" Mako asked him, already annoyed by a slight trend.

"Well, ski resorts in our pokemon cultural sphere tend to use Glaceons thanks to their ability to create fresh snow and even full-on snowfalls." Sushil explained, looking back at Glaceon. "The thing is, this one was, quote on quote, employed by one of such resorts."

"And why did they gave him out into your arms?"

"His Powder Snow and other snow-creating moves constantly missed, hitting the building, roads, parking lost witc customers cars on them and even the tourist on the ski runs." Sushil sighed, clenching his fists. "Eventually owners got themselves a new one and the old bud was thrown as ownerless pal into nearby town, where he had to live off dumpsters for a good month before I found him during one of mine routine travels."

"Your attacks always miss, huh?" Mako asked, looking down at the Glaceon who was being patted in supportive manner on the back by Metagross. "What moves does he know?"

"As a tourism-destined pokemon, he has Covet, Charm, Snowspace and Icy Wind."

"Mhm, mhm. And Metagross?"

"Tackle, Iron Defense, Protect and Laser Focus. He's analytical Pacifist after all."

"... I think the two can go. Assuming that we have full confidence in Eclair's heart." Mako decided, giving her final opinion.

"I have it." Sushil said with no prior thinking, looking down at the two pokemon. "And I know you two have it too, so let's go find a transport suitable for this...

"Well then, here we come!" Koume smiled, opening the doors and walking into the room, where a relatively cool young man stood with a Hoothoot on his shoulder.

"I'm Falkner, the Violet Pokemon Gym leader." Man presented himself, waving his blue hair aside from his eyes. "And I assume you must be a gym challenger?"

"Heh, indeed." Koume responded, blushing slightly. "And I am ready to challenge you on behalf of it."

"I think that can be arranged." He responded, turning around on his heel and walking up to the spiral staircase leading upwards. "After me, please."

"Alright, now that the transport is sent, we might aswell get to seeing what you all can do." Mako said, her team assembling itself at the arena while a small ship went away with the secured cargo on it's deck.

"Well then, it seems that you have four pokemon so far, we have to work with them." Sushil commented, but then turning around and seeing Oshawatt and Cottonee approaching them. "Or maybe not..."

"So the two want to join me?" Mako asked, looking down at them.

"Osha! Oshaa!" Oshawatt squeaked, jumping up and down while Cottonee hummed happly.

"Yup, they want." Sushil concluded, looking back at her.

"Fine, then let's see what you can do." Mako said, urning around to the rest of her team. "The matches are: Oshawatt and Flareon, Cottonee and Magnemite, Sinistea and Dweeble. First pair begins."

"Oshaa!" Oshawatt yelled with enthusiasm as he stepped into the arena while Flareon stood at the opposite side with the air around his mouth turning light-purple.

"Begin." Sushil announced shortly, which was followed by Flareon launching his smoke forward at Oshawatt, who took the shell from his front and swing it several times, causing smoke to be thrown away to his sides.

"Ossshaaa!" Sea Otter Pokemon hissed, running forward with focused eyes while Flareon began walking backwards while launching Swift and throwing multiple star shards towards him.

"..." Mako and Sushil stood silently, observing Oshawatt dodging, blocking and deflecting aside one star-shaped object after another getting closer and closer to his opponent. "He sure seems to take an upper hand." The former commented, seeing how Flareon kept on backing down from the range of Oshawatt's shell.

"Not for long. He has found the right moment." Sushil pointed out, just as fire eeveelution began yawning his Smog at the opponent, making him back down away from him, thus keeping the space between the two wide.

"Or rather he can't get a safe attack on him." Mako added, but then shaked her head as she saw Oshawatt getting poisoning from the smoke that managed to get into his lungs and faining on the spot. "I guess I was wrong then, nice approach Flareon."

"Wah!" Fire pokemon chanted happly as he grabbed Oshawatt into his mouth and walked away from the arena while Cottonee and Magnemite flew into the arena.

"Ready, set, go." Sushil added, nearly instantly followed by the two pokemon unleashing Spark and Fairy Wind against eachother.

"Oh wow, two offensive attacks." Mako commented, seeing as the two shrugged off the attacks with minor damage and proceeded to do the same attacks two more times.

"They seem to play it safe..." Sushil commented before Cottonee began to grow more cotton around itself and Magnemite rushed forward with a spin. "Oh right, Growth and Gyro Ball." He added as Magnemite bounced off of the fluffy cotton, making his follow-up attack of Spark not much more effective.

"I think Magnemite senses his advantage while Cottonee opts for a defensive approach." Mako added just in time for a Razor Leaf from Cottonee to throw Magnemite down into the ground, from which a Giga Drain made his position even worse.

"*Angry static sounds*" Magnemite growled in his electrical way, standing up and proceeding to Tackle Cottonee mid-air before a second Fairy Wind knocked him back and out of the arena zone.

"That seems to be the second match. Good enough from both of you." Sushil nodded while Cottonee flew up to Mako and revieved a forced headpat. "Sinistea and Dweeble then, I guess." He added as the last pair entered the battlefield.

"Mhm, you can begin." Mako added, After which Sinistea suddenly disappeared and Dweeble began digging underground.

"A tactical approach I see, very clever." Sushil added just as several smashibg noises were heard below them after which the floor at the middle of arena collapsed as Dweeble smashed Sinistea against the flying ground formations.

"Smack Down, huh? Weird that Sinistea survived it." Mako added, before Dweeble bite the side of the tea cup with his bug jaws and flew with it back underground.

"It kind of weirds me out how much you already know about pokemon." Sushil commented, while more noises of collapsing ground and breaking structires came from below.

"You already know I am a genius, or rather you keep telling me that I'm such." Mako responded with annoyance, before Sinistea dragged herself on the collapsed ground from the fallen center, pulling severly beaten Dweeble afer herself. "Now then, have you found out the winner?" She asked the two, then groaning with annoyance as Dweeble smacked down Sinistea from behind and followed up with the Bug Bite, knocking her out.

"I guess that concludes it." Sushil smiled, shrugging his arms. "Now better go and rest. Y'all did some good job today."
