Like I said before the next 3 chapters will be up sometime this week, I just need to finish two more chapters.
-September 24th-
Izzy gagged when she got a whiff of her practice jersey upon entering the girls' locker room after soccer practice. "Ugh I seriously gotta wash this."
"Yeah you do, I can smell it all the way over here," Roxy shot at her from the end of the rows of lockers, making others on the team laugh, some even pinched their noses, jokingly.
She rolled her eyes at the goalie as she yanked the smelly shirt off, throwing it at her soccer bag she always brought home. She thought about throwing it at Roxy but decided against it since the action would definitely come back and bit her in the ass. Instead, she grabbed a towel and her shower supplies, not wanting to go home right away to shower, knowing her dad's girlfriend was over.
It wasn't that she hated her dad's girlfriend, Raven, she loved seeing her dad happy especially after her mom died three years ago but something about her just didn't go with Izzy's own personality. Where Izzy did not mind getting sweaty while playing sports, Raven preferred to stay as far away as possible from anything that remotely involved dirt. And it was only one of the many difference between the two.
Izzy turned the shower's temperature all the way up, almost immediately steaming up the stall. Ever since becoming the Fire Guardian her resistance to heat has greatly increased as well as her body temperature, she wasn't cold during the times they had morning practices and the air was cold enough to show your breathe. It was nice.
Silent filled the locker room after Izzy got out of the shower but this time she knew she wasn't going to be late for anything and could simply take her time. After pulling on black sweatpants, a scrapping noise coming from the other side of the lockers caught her attention.
"Someone forget something?" She called out, only to be met with silence, making her question herself if she actually heard something. "Hello?"
Izzy placed her sweatshirt down on the bench next to her bags before shutting her locker and going to check where the noise came from. Rounding the lockers, Izzy spotted nothing nor no one.
"I feel like I'm getting more paranoid after becoming a Guardian," Izzy mumbled to herself as she made her way back to her stuff.
"Oh Sweetheart, you're not paranoid."
The soft female voice startled Izzy into slamming her back against the lockers, looking up at the woman sitting on top of them with her legs crossed. She wore a black hooded cloak that covered all but her tan long legs.
"Who the hell are you?"
"No one you need to be concerned with," the women declared, sitting up a bit straighter. "Well not in the long run at least."
She lifted a hand to snap her fingers. Almost immediately the locker door behind Izzy flung opened, smacking her in the back and making her stumble forwards.
"What the…"
Once again, the woman snapped her fingers but this time her own locker door flew open, landing a hard hit to her nose. Izzy's head fell back at the impact, a pained groan fell from her mouth followed by an angered grunt. She placed her hand flat on her locker door, pushing it with as much force as she could mustered.
"What the hell is our problem?" Izzy yelled, hand curling into a fist on the locker while her other hand came up to feel if her nose was bleeding, which it was but Izzy ignored it for now. "What do you want with me?"
"To kill you," the woman replied nonchalantly, shrugging her shoulders. "I've been watching you for awhile and was starting to feel the urge to end your life. Luckily, I finally got the order to."
"That's fucking creepy."
"Maybe but all this waiting around is going to be worth it," the woman slid off the lockers, somehow landing gracefully on the bench, arms stretched out to her sides as she sauntered towards Izzy. "Seeing your dead body laying there on the ground, someone from your team finding you and crying out in horror."
Izzy scrunched her face up, disturbed by her monologue as she stumbled back.
The hooded woman snapped her fingers for the third time. However, instead of just one locker opening up, all the lockers surrounding Izzy flung open, ejecting all the player's belongings out and in the direction of the Fire Guardian.
Izzy covered her face with her arms as she ran to the locker room door, shoes and sweating gym clothes hitting her, the smell alone could knock her down. When she was close enough to the door she reached a hand out only to find the door locked. With the lock being on the inside, she tired turning the thing but no matter how much strength she put in it would not budge.
"Not going to work," the woman teased, laughing as she watched Izzy try the door one more time before darting back to the showers. "It's pointless to run! You're powerless without the Heart!"
Izzy spun around with a field hockey stick in hand, having grabbed it on her way passed the captain of the field hockey team's locker, knowing the captain never locked her locker. "Wrong. I was just in need of a weapon."
The woman eyed the object in the Guardian's grip before letting out a laugh. "That thing is your weapon?"
"Anything can be a weapon as long as you know how to use it correctly." Izzy smirked to herself, proud she at least remembered something from training with Wally.
"Hell yeah!"
The new voice made the woman whip around to find the red headed wizard behind her, his hands covered in a green glow.
"You remembered!" He exclaimed, fist pumping one of his glowing hands.
Izzy rolled her eyes, confused but gratefully he was here. Then she took off towards the woman. "Hey! I'm your target, remember?"
The woman turned just time for Izzy to swing the stick, striking her on the shoulder, a sickening crack following. The woman roared out in pain as she slumped against the lockers, holding her shoulder.
"Izzy! This way!" Wally waved her over to him.
Izzy scurried passed the woman, still collapsed on the ground, and to Wally who was pointing to a portal; her question of how he got here being answered. The two stepped through not realizing the woman had gotten up to follow them.
Once through Izzy saw Wynter pointing behind her. She turned to see the woman come through just as the portal closed.
"Seriously?" Izzy mumbled before seeing CJ and Grix exit another portal close by, followed by a similar person in a cloak and easily put the pieces together. They all were being targeted, most likely by a group of beings with powers that matched their own guardian powers. She gave a quick glance around and didn't see Dakota or Khloe.
"Don't worry. They're next," Wynter said, reading Izzy worried expression.
"Got it!" She trusted Wynter in getting the other two here and hope that they were okay. "Can you… you know?"
The Keeper nodded her head. "Guardians Unite!"
Hope you are enjoying the story!
