I'm back! Hope everyone had a good holiday!
Having almost 2 months to write helped me get ahead a bit but it is going to still be monthly updates. As for the editing, I will do that when the story is complete so, yes, there are going to be mistakes. Hopefully nothing too serious, just some grammar mistakes and mistakes similar.
Enjoy!
-Serine-
With a scorching blast of fire from Izzy, sent her challenger, Jinx, smacking into the wall and sliding to the marble floor in a smoky heap. The winged being that attacked Wynter, Maddox, came flying over to her aid, asking if she was okay. She nodded her head, straighten her back, trying to work the knot out of her spine. Together they attacked, Jinx snapped her fingers causing a pillar to break off and fall over Wynter and Chance while Maddox lunged at Izzy, spinning so his right wing struck her in the gut.
Luckily for Wynter, she reacted fast enough, pulling Chance with her as she shot up and above the pillar just as it crashed to the ground, shattering into countless pieces.
"Thank you," Chance said, making sure his grip would not fail him as Wynter lowered both of them down.
Wynter smiled at him. "Just returning the favor."
However, for Izzy, she was unwillingly lifted off the ground, Maddox's wing stuck against her stomach, unable to move with how fast he was flying. Though it did not last long, before she knew it he shifted his weight, dropping her.
Fortunately, Wally was watching their whereabouts, trying to find the right time to strike without hitting Izzy but quickly changed his tactic to catching her with a magic net once she was let go. Thanking him, Izzy flew over to him, rubbing her now sore stomach, her ribs feeling like they have been altered.
Elsewhere, Khloe, Dakota and Nyx were driving Tig and Khloe's opponent, Vixen back into the room everyone else was currently fighting, aiming to keep all the enemies in one single area. In order to do that, Khloe kept a hard flow of cool air on Vixen with one hand and freezing the water Dakota laid down under Tig's feet with the other, sending him slipping and sliding into a different pillar. While Vixen was distracted Nyx shot her last arrow at the human-animal hybrid the moment Khloe ceased her assault of air, striking her in the ribs, slightly below where Nyx intended to hit.
Vixen cried out in pain, unable to call for her wolves now that the creatures were blown into the moat surrounding the palace. Tig ran to assist her only to be knocked into by CJ's attacker, Saga, who was thrown by the Earth Guardian. The pair groaned as they untangled their limbs from one another, while CJ and Grix high fived.
"Nice shot!" Grix laughed, axe resting comfortably on his shoulder, CJ leaning an arm on his other shoulder while she floated in the air.
Tired of dealing with them in pairs, the Guardians, together as one, decided to back their opponents up against the enormous wooden palace's doors, affectively, but temporarily, trapping them. The girls and their partners surrounded them, either their weapons drawn or with their elements on display ready to strike at any suspicion movement.
Saga sighed, brushing dirt off her outfit. "I think it's time to go."
"But…"
Saga snapped at Vixen. "Now!"
Vixen coward back as Saga raised her arms to created her own portal in between the two groups. Maddox and Tig kept the Guardians back, allowing the others to escape through before quickly stepping through themselves.
The moment the portal closed, everyone in the palace relaxed a little, knowing, or rather hoping, that today's fight was over. Weapons were returned to their proper holdings as Wynter transformed the girls back into their civilian clothes. Then they dropped down onto the stairs, exhausted from the day's events.
Queen Cornelia had motioned to the guards to retrieve the healers, some of the girls in need of them more than others. "After you all are healed, I think it is best for you to head home. I don't believe they will try again tonight."
"If they do try again, I think we should all be together for the remainder of the night," Wynter suggested as she gingerly raised her arms in order for the healer to treat her ribs. "It's safer that way."
Izzy held her arm out to the healer before saying, "but who's house would we stay at? No offense but all of our parents would definitely ask questions and…"
Lincoln pushed the healer away to stand up, wincing at the pain that shot across his ankle. "What the hell is going on here? Who the hell are you all? You promised to explain everything!"
He pointed an accusing finger at Khloe, the other Guardians shifting, ready to defend her if need be. During the whole fight, Lincoln had to be guarded by King Celeb and a palace guard, questioning whether or not everything was real or if he was tripping on something.
Khloe went over to him to try and calm him down by placing a gentle hand on his bicep. "And I will but first you need to sit down and let them treat your wounds. Please."
Lincoln's body relaxed under her touch as he saw into her pleading eyes. "Khloe…"
She led him back to the healer and began to tell the story leading up to this point, all with the help of the other Guardians, the rebellion members and Queen Cornelia. Lincoln just sat there, allowing the healer to do her job, all the while listening to something straight out of a comic book. He did not ask questions nor did he speak a word until Khloe finished telling him everything, indicating him to start asking the questions she knew he had.
"So, I'm not dreaming?" Lincoln stared, wide eyed, at nothing in particular. "I did see that woman control wolves and the other chick shoot plasma balls out of her hands?"
"Yes," Khloe confirmed, sitting down next to him once the healer finished up her wounds. "And it's important that you don't tell anyone, not even your parents or Luke. They cannot know about any of this."
"And this is the reason why you always disappear after cheer and on the weekends?"
Khloe just nodded her head.
"Even if I tell people about this, they wouldn't believe me," Lincoln said, running his hands through his hair, sitting up a bit.
"They would think you've gone crazy," Izzy laughed as she imagined how those events would go down.
Wynter elbowed her in the ribs, telling her to tone down the laughing, at which caused Izzy to shrug her shoulders not seeing the big deal.
Lincoln ignored the girl. "It's hard not to believe you considering everything I just witnessed but I won't tell anyone about you guys. I promise."
"Thank you, Lincoln," Khloe leaned in to kiss his cheek as the others thanked him as well.
"Okay, now that issue is solved, can we figure out where we are going to stay? Like Izzy said earlier all of our parents are going to ask questions." Dakota asked, stretching her arm over her head, letting out a yawn. "Plus, I'm getting tired and hungry."
"You all can stay at my place," CJ said, rubbing her neck where the burned marks had been only an hour ago. "My dad's staying at his girlfriend's place tonight. We can even order pizza if you all want."
Dakota smiled at the mention of food. "Sounds good with me."
Wynter and Izzy also agreed with the suggestions.
"Okay, what about Lincoln?" Khloe asked. "Will he be target again?"
"I don't believe so but I will keep an eye on him while he is at home just in case," Queen Cornelia reassured the Air Guardian.
"Thank you," Lincoln said, linking his hand with Khloe's.
"Alright, let's get going then," Wynter suggested as she stood, holding the Heart out in front of her. "I'm getting hungry, too."
Queen Cornelia sent Lincoln home after him and Khloe shared a kiss, Izzy rolling her eyes at the action before Khloe sent him off with a goodnight. Afterwards, Wynter created a portal to CJ's place, making sure once there her, Dakota, Izzy and Khloe all contacted their parents telling them where they would be at tonight as CJ ordered the pizza and a few other things.
-Samora-
A thunderous crack echoed throughout the throne room, the six figures wincing at the reason behind the frightening sound. They knew that sound all too well by now but this had a completely different meaning to it.
"Teenagers!" The Queen growled as she began pacing the space in front of her throne. "You let five teenagers, ones that barely have a hold of the power that lies within them, to make a complete mockery of you! Complete fools!"
"Your Majesty," Maddox kneeled before the Queen as she sat down and bowed his head. "They had help. I believe the Queen of Serine figured out what happened, she was the one who sent her grandson to aid the Keeper."
The room started to shake, the Queen's hand gripping the arm rest to the point in began to split open from the pressure. A foreign curse fell from her lips directed at the Queen of Serine.
Maddox shielded Jinx, Tig and himself from falling pieces of the ceiling with his wings as Saga covered the others and herself with her magic.
"We're going to get crushed if she keeps this up," Jinx commented in a whisper, pressing tighter against the winged man.
"Would you like to be the one to calm her down?" Tig asked, eyebrows raised as if to challenge the black haired woman.
Before she could reply, Maxar eased the Queen out of her fit, the throne slowly healed itself after she let the arm rests go. Maddox and Saga uncovering the others, shaking the dust and tiny pieces of stone off their clothes.
"Sister, this is good," Maxar said, squatting down next to the throne, the Queen eyeing him questionably. "We made our presences made and there is no doubt she will connect the attacks back to us… I mean to you. She will be scared, maybe even called back her friends to assist her. And then in one foul swoop we can take out the remaining Guardians that stuck you in this prison. It is possible since they do not have their full powers anymore."
The Queen's face visibly relaxed as her lips curled into a wicked smile. "Return to Earth."
"You do want us to kill the new Guardians?" Saga asked, bowing her head before she spoke. "Or…"
"You can't even mortally wound one of them. What makes you think you can kill them all? They will only continue to grow in strength." The Queen waved the idea off before resting her hand on her hand. "No, continue to watch over them and await farther orders. Understood?"
No one dared to protest her orders, knowing the punishment if they do.
"Understood."
"Good. Now go!"
All the Order of Shadows members bowed one last time before they left to follow the Queen's orders, even if some disagreed with said orders.
"Maxar," she beckoned him over once more with a boney finger. "Find the previous Air Guardian on Earth and find out if she is the one who has the Heart of Samora. If so, take it from her and if you must… kill her."
"Yes, your Majesty."
Maxar scurried off. Once out of the throne room, he created a shadow portal to Earth in search of his intended target.
