This is Khloe's POV!
And I know this Chapter and the last are a bit shorter then others but I felt like everything that needed to be written was so I'm okay with them being shorter. It's also connected to Izzy's Chapter so that's why you don't see how Khloe and Lincoln get back to Serine like the others.
Enjoy!
-November 1st-
When I came to, I find myself surrounded by a thick layer of trees, spanning the height of a football field or maybe even taller. I was lying flat on my back so I could see the cloudless sky through the tree tops, clearly daytime so either I was out for around 12 hours or the dimension I'm in had a different time zone than Earth. And the way I knew I was in another dimension, and not Earth, was from the plethora of plant life that was definitely not of Earth origin.
I, also, knew from the wetness soaking into my back and other places that I was currently in the part of the forest that riddled with either mud or something else, that I didn't want to think about. So instead, I craned my neck around searching for any signs of human life or anything else that could help me.
"Izzy!" I called for her when I saw her motionless just out of arms reach. "Izzy! Please be okay." I pushed myself off the ground, noting how my body screamed at me not to move but I just threw that to the back of my mind, crawling over to her.
I was close enough to touch her when something slammed into me from the side, knocking my breath away. I rolled to my uninjured side, sucking in air, trying to fill my lungs back up as my ribs burned with every intake.
"Oh, no you don't," Vixen threatened, crouching over Izzy, running a claw lightly down her cheek. A light red mark appeared shortly after the action but I could see Vixen didn't break skin. "Lover girl here, she's going with Jinx. You and your boyfriend are coming with me."
At the mention of Lincoln, I searched around and found him behind Vixen, two wolves circling his unconscious body. Half of his Halloween costume was missing but he looked to be unharmed just still knocked out by traveling. Shit, I had forgotten he came with us. I watched as Vixen kicked Izzy's limp body towards Jinx before strutting over to me, hips swaying in her usual sassy, sexy manner. Jinx, with the snap of her fingers, had Izzy floating a few feet off the ground before they both set off, so Jinx could, no doubt kill Izzy. I stumbled to stand, calling out to Izzy but I was quickly kicked down by Vixen as the other two disappeared beyond the trees.
"Oh, don't worry, Jinx won't kill her instantly," said Vixen, a devilish sneer playing on her lips. "She always loved playing with her victims before she killed them."
She let out a cackle.
I, once again, picked my upper body up off the ground, this time with far greater difficulty, and propped up on my elbows. My lungs, ribs and my whole side still burned from getting hit and not to mention the journey through whatever portal they sucked us through made me feel cold and miserable, like I would never be happy again. And currently, that seemed to be a definite as Vixen stood over me, her now gray hair nearly touching my face as she bent down to speak.
"You're so full of yourself, that you can't even see how much the Fire bitch likes you," Vixen said, clearly amused, flipping her hair over a shoulder. "It's quite pitiful, if you ask me."
"No one asked you," I hissed back, throwing my legs up and hooking my ankles around her stomach, pulling her to the ground as hard as I could.
A hard thud, quickly followed by Vixen grunting, told me I put more strength into that move than I had original thought I did. Which had me happily smirking as I rolled to the side, trying to distance myself from the wolfy bitch but I needed a plan to get to Lincoln, try to find a way to get away from Vixen and find a way back to Earth or Serine. But that was easier said than done, of course.
My plans were halted when three of Vixen's wolves closely surrounded me, baring their teeth, ready to attack at their master's command. I watched Vixen push herself up, groaning in the process.
"Shit, that was a good move," she praised, brushing mud off her fur then flicking her hair over her shoulder and out of the way. "But not good enough, obviously."
Vixen snapped her fingers and the wolves surrounding me attacked all at once. I screamed, crouching down, covering my face and awaited the bites and claws to dig into my skin. Yet, neither one of those things came; instead, I felt a powerful rush through my body and exit out towards my attackers. I peeked out from my arms to see all the grey wolves and Vixen had been thrown at least ten feet away and lay motionless on the ground.
"Was that…"
I gawked at my hands, considering the possibility that I was the one who "threw" them, remembering what Queen Cornelia and Hay-Lin had said. That us, Guardians, were to gain more powers and were able to used those powers even when we were not in our Guardian forms. And it seems like I figured out mine thanks to what just happened and the day I first had a ran in with Vixen, the day Lincoln found out about the Guardians.
"I have telekinesis," I said, out loud and proudly.
But then, I remember what else Cornelia and Hay-Lin said; our powers are not as strong when we weren't in our Guardian forms and could easily and quickly drain our energy. Which made sense as to why my body feels like collapsing at any moment even as I moved to Lincoln, who wasn't encircled anymore.
"Shit. Lincoln, wake up!"
I was finally able to reach him when I heard Vixen and her wolves stir behind me.
"Lincoln, I need you to wake up! I'm not going to be able to carry you like this! Lincoln!"
Lincoln groaned before his eyes fluttered open.
"Khloe? Wha…"
"I'll explain later. Can you move?"
He nodded. "I think so."
With heavy limbs Lincoln managed to stand but needed to be supported by a tree before he was able to get his bearings.
"Fucking bitch!"
Not waiting for her to fully get up, I stuck my hand out I used all the strength I could muster and mentally pushed her back another five feet, slamming her into a tree with a loud crack but I didn't stop to think if it was her or the tree that did the cracking. I hurried Lincoln away from the scene but my body was growing heavier with every passing second. And before I knew it, I blacked out.
The wonder of flying never ceases to excite me; being able to feel the wind on my body helping me, guiding me, amidst the clouds and the sun's rays. Allowing me to forget everything below me, all my worries and my troubles for the time being. And being able to share this sensation with true friends was always a warm and inviting welcome.
I barreled rolled over one of them, hearing the laughter come from the others. I was a natural at flying compared to the rest, like I had spent my whole life flying high in the sky. Taking to it like a moth to a flame; I never want to come down from this high.
"Khlo…"
I recognized the voice, even if it was rough sounding.
"Khloe!"
My eyes flickered open, landing on the figure sitting next to me. "Lincoln?"
"Khloe!" He sounded relieved. "Are you okay?"
I slowly nodded my head, eyes drifting to the metal cuffs on my wrist. "It feels like my body has been drained. What happened?"
We were in a dark cave, only being lit by the small fire in front of us. I could not see the entrance to the cave so we must be deep inside it.
"It basically had been," he said, pulling at the similar chains around his wrists. "You used your powers when you weren't transformed."
"Well, that explains this shitty feeling." I carefully dropped my head back against the rocky wall, groaning. "Where are we? How long have I been out?"
"I was able to get us to an abandon house but that only lasted about a day," Lincoln sighed, dropping his hands to his lap. "Vixen found us and she was too strong for me to take her myself. She knocked me out and when I woke up, we were here but I don't know where here is. I think you've been out for two or three days. It's hard to tell in this cave."
This time I tested out the chains, to no avail. "Where is she now?"
Lincoln just shrugged but a set of voices echoed back to us. I recognized the one as Vixen but couldn't quite place the other one. That is until she came into the fire's light. Jinx. She was walking alongside Vixen, a nasty smirk playing on her face. Then I saw why.
"Izzy!"
Izzy was floating off the ground in the same way when I saw her getting taking away from me days earlier. Jinx laughed, bitterly, chaining Izzy to the wall opposite of Lincoln and I.
"What the hell did you do to her?!"
"Nothing she didn't deserve," she split out, mouth twisting into a screwed up smile, making her usual pretty face turn into something that reminded me of a stereotypical witch.
Jinx released her hold on her, Izzy's body dropping hard to the ground before Jinx and Vixen walked out of sight.
"Please be okay," I whispered to Izzy.
Hopefully, I'll be able to post two chapters at a time like today but I guess we'll see next month.
Thank you for reading! Hope you're enjoying it!
