For all of you who are reading this message now, this text has been written after a decision I made to overhaul a majority of this book.
At the time I'm writing this, I find it lacking to my standards, and now I am currently writing it anew.
I hope yall will like this newer version.
Yall are not ready for the dish I've been cooking for each one of my books...
Ruby awoke in her childhood bed after the slightly illegal drinking session Yang and her had last night. She was at least thankful that due to her warped body, that she couldn't get a hangover, even if everything else she dealt with outweighed the benefits.
Feeling a yawn coming on, Ruby stretched her mouth as her lower jaw split in half and splayed out in a grotesque image. After her massive yawn, Ruby's jaw slid back into place with a sharp popping sound.
'I still feel rather sleepy...I'm going to go back to sleep...' Rolling over onto her side after that thought, Ruby began to doze off back into sleep.
Just before she could fall asleep, her heart beat in a single massive pulse and caused the dorsal plates on her back to light up. Panic began to overwhelm the young immortal, knowing that another bout of evolution was about to happen against her own will.
Intense heat built in her chest and veins, the blood flowing through her body writhing with the potency of boiling magma. That boiling hot blood wormed it's way through her body and towards her navel.
It was invasive, and yet...it was her own body doing this to her! Why? Why had she been so stupid to train on an island like that?! In hindsight, it was rather obvious that if she got hurt there...she was fucked without anyone to help her.
Then Atlas had to test a new weapon despite already being the only military on the planet! That rage that had leaked out during the interrogation resurfaced, the roaring flames of fury and hatred threatening to consume her entire being.
She hated the energy in her body, she hated Atlas, but...she hated herself more than anything else. When she only wanted to see her family one more time when she had resigned herself to living in the ocean, the mere act of landing on Patch's beach had caused a small tsunami!
People she had likely known, had DIED because of her! All because she was an inhuman monster now! Even if she wanted to kill herself to save everyone of the suffering she causes by existing, she can't even do that!
Nothing in the world can damage her except for herself and kinetic energy. What should she even do anymore? What can she do besides destroy everything in her vicinity?! Purple light shimmered off of Ruby's dorsal plates and steam leaked from her mouth.
Her mind was cracking, shattering under the weight of it all! She was a monster who could destroy the world if she wanted! Tears leaked out of Ruby's eyes from just how overwhelmed she was.
All she ever wanted was to become a hero like her mother, to save people from the Grimm...but here she was as a threat even greater than the Grimm had ever been. A single damn day had ruined her, violated her, twisted her body into it's current grotesque form.
Was there some kind of God that had decided that this was to be her fate? Or was it all preordained from the moment she had been born? The tainted blood in her body reached her naval and burrowed up towards her charred skin.
Writhing flesh rose from her body and knitted together into mysterious forms. Skin peeled off of her naval and ran along the mass of flesh, brushing against the clothes she was wearing and sending a jolt of sensitivity through her body.
Tendrils of bleeding tissue swam through her groin area, leaping up through her body and connecting to the still shaping ball of flesh. A lighting bolt of pain lanced through Ruby, burning deep into her nerves when flesh had met flesh, making more tears seep from her eyes and fall to the bed sheets below her head.
More bolts of agony flashed through the young immortal as more connections were made within her soma, each causing another bloody teardrop to fall from her eyes. How was she supposed to endure this forever? Could she even do it? Would she remain sane even a single year from now?
"And know that hope will never abandon you. Just know that even if you should never die from your power, that I will always be with you in the end, no matter what. Maybe we won't be with you forever in the flesh, but we'll always be with you no matter what. Remember that, Rubes." The voices of the ones who still helped her after what she had become echoed in her ears, each ones voice soothing the demons ravaging her mind.
'I already feel so...tired...can I live like this?...Constantly enduring as the tides of time batter against me? Is this what the answer of (is destiny real) is?' Shrinking in on herself as much as she could, Ruby silently wept as she did her best to do the only thing she could anymore, endure.
Even as more suffering beset her body from the evolution, Ruby's only answer to it was the silent sobs she pushed into her knees and the tear drops soaking the sheets under her head. Never would Ruby wish her fate upon another, to suffer as she does, to bear the burdens she does.
The energy that scorched in her veins was so powerful, yet, it was still tainted with a terrible cost, a cost the young immortal wished she had never known. A single slip-up, a single mistake, a single break down was all that it took for her to take so many lives.
Was it too late for her to just leave? To forsake all the attachments she had to ensure she never harmed anyone she loved again? Could she leave Yang and her father and never see them again? Like her mother had when she disappeared? Like Yang's own mom had done to Yang?
...Could she leave her heart here with them? To find some forgotten corner of the world and go dormant there forever, dreaming of what could have been?
These thoughts hurt Ruby so much more than the physical pain ever would. What should she do? Going to Beacon was a massive risk, one where if she lost control and accidentally killed everyone there, the world was doomed to die from the Grimm.
She was already reviled and hated as is because of how she looked...
'Now I think I can understand the faunas a lot more...' Sunlight landed on Ruby's face from the window curtain moving, the gentle warmth of it cupped her charred skin in it's hands.
That warmth...it felt so familiar, stirring an old memory in Ruby's mind. A gentle smile looking down at her from her crib, her mother's loving smile, along with a younger Yang's laughter in the background and her uncle's more gruff voice.
'No...I can't leave them. They still need me.' Inhaling deeply before letting out one more sob that was finally audible, Ruby noticed the evolution had already ended.
People do say that emotional pain would always been far worse than any physical pain, it would seem that statement is true. Lifting her body slowly off her bed, Ruby raised her left hand to wipe away the tears on her face and in her eyes, sniffling quietly while doing so.
Twisting her body, Ruby slid off her bed and took notice of how she felt a new weight towards her groin. Nervousness settled into Ruby as she took a guess on what the evolution's purpose had been, and she hesitantly lowered her hand towards her groin.
Something brushed against her hand, it took Ruby a few minutes to realize what she now had as a part of her body. Her breath hitched before she grabbed it and found her suspicions were merited.
Ruby stood there in still silence, her mind trying to process the change and failing. The sharp and harsh sound of glass shattered rang in her ears, the deafening volume of it didn't even faze her.
'No...no...please...please...just don't...don't...me any more of an Ą̵̺̰̻̻͔͇͓̈́̓͛̏̈́͌͋̄̑͆̏b̸̼̋͛̑͆̈́͗̿̅ŏ̸̡̼̺̫̥̻͈̞̍͆̏̓́͜͝ͅm̵̢͕̫̓̔͑̊̈i̶̡̹͈͎̳̞͙͖̾̂̀͑̀͆̑̓̽̉͐͘͘ͅǹ̷̨͍̮̥̹̘͙̗̻̬̬̜̥̮̃̒̈́̽͗̿̍̄̂̏͆͠͝ǎ̴̯̀͠t̸̫̫̤͕̳̻̰̣̭́̌̉͝ͅi̶̡̹͈͎̳̞͙͖̾̂̀͑̀͆̑̓̽̉͐͘͘ͅŏ̸̡̼̺̫̥̻͈̞̍͆̏̓́͜͝ͅǹ̷̨͍̮̥̹̘͙̗̻̬̬̜̥̮̃̒̈́̽͗̿̍̄̂̏͆͠͝." Pleading to whoever or whatever would listen, Ruby's only answer was the silence that enveloped her room.
A deep and unsettling chuckle built in her throat, rising it's way out until it leapt past her lips. The chuckle turned into a slightly louder giggle, the din of it causing more shards of glass to fragment in her ears.
Her mind was breaking, fracturing, splintering from the trauma and mental damage she had acquired over the last week. Then the giggle turned into a roaring bout of madness induced laughter.
Ruby's eyes were bloodshot and her face twisted into an insane smile as she laughed, her hand clapping over one of her eyes.
'Can this be a nightmare? All of this merely a dream that my mind conjured up while I slept? I never did anything that made me deserve this kind of life! WHY MUST I BE THE ONE TO SUFFER SO MUCH LIKE THIS?!" The roaring flames of her hatred and rage begun to consume her mind, enveloping and furthering her already breaking mind into insanity.
She wanted to lash out and give a portion of her suffering upon other things! To make other things feel what she now lived with every minute! For them to know the agony her own body did with it's evolutionary molestation of her!
That last evolution had given her a dick! She was now even more of a monstrosity than before! Her laughter grew loud enough to be heard across the house, waking up Yang and her father with the chills that went down their spines.
Behind Ruby, her tail started hissing steam out of it's mouth with Ruby howling even harder with the reminded that her own tail was sentient! A part of her body had it's own mind for Oum's sake!
The laughter from her suddenly died out as one of her eyes started bleeding and she let loose a rage-filled screaming-roar that shook the whole house. The immense roar generated winds that blew across her room and scattered objects everywhere.
WHY DID SHE HAVE TO BE THIS...MONSTER?! SHE ONLY EVER WANTED TO HELP OTHER PEOPLE! NOW LOOK WHERE THOSE GOOD INTENTIONS HAD GOTTEN HER!
Rage, hate, sadness, envy, fear, all burned in the inferno swallowing her psyche. Ruby wanted to reverse time, to go back and make sure this had never happened to her! Yet, she couldn't do that could she!
No-one could reverse time! She was stuck like this FOREVER as an immortal! Her mind was burning with the conflagration and she could hardly think straight anymore. Ruby need a release, and lucky for her, there was always sinister beings she could massacre.
A multitude of howls echoed across the landscape with Ruby whipping her head to look through her window to the forest outside. She could see them already with her RADAR, the slavering black horde heading her way.
Footsteps slammed down the hall as Ruby opened her wind and leapt out of it. Yang and her father, Taiyang, burst into her room the second she leapt out of her window.
"RUBY!" They both screamed as Ruby fell onto the ground below from her second story window, the ground shuddered when her two ton weight slammed into it.
Grimm of so many kinds burst out of the woods with Ruby staring at them, her silver eyes aglow with the sheer heat of her fury and loathing. These are the creatures that had caused so much of what had happened to her.
The ones who had killed so much of humanity, the ones who had taken her mother from her, who had caused the bomb that had changed her to be created! It was time they learned...
Learned to fear HER.
Inhaling as much air as her massive lungs could hold, Ruby then let it all back out in a roar that vibrated the very air itself and created hurricane level winds to blast against everything nearby. Yang and her father leaned out of her room's window, shouting meaningless words at her she could no longer hear.
All that mattered was the carnage she would create.
Hundreds, maybe even thousands, of Grimm ran across her home's giant front yard towards her, a writhing black mass of bloodlust and instinctual hatred all leveled directly at her. Taking a single step forward that broke the dirt under her, Ruby began to move towards the horde that would soon die.
The first Grimm that met her head-on was a fast King Taijitu, the two collided in a visible shockwave. The black head lunged at Ruby while the white one tried to trap her in it's coils. Ruby responded by wrapping her own tail around the incoming black head and twisting it until her tail ripped the head off.
Wrapping her arms around the white half of the massive Grimm, Ruby roared as she lifted the entire Grimm into the air, twisted her body, and threw the multi-ton beast in the sea of trees beyond her yard.
Wood splintered under the weight of the Grimm and it started dissipating soon after from it's spine having shattered. Many blows from a pack of Beowulves hammered into Ruby with sparks being creating from bone clashing against her armored skin.
Stumbling backwards from the force of the blows, Ruby quickly righted herself and grabbed a nearby Beowulf and ripped it in half with a shower of Grimm gore. Using the leftover front-half of the Grimm, Ruby slammed it into another Beowulf in a spray of abyssal blood and innards.
Her tail moved on it's own to wrap itself around a nearby Ursa's head, then it constricted and popped the Grimm's head like a pressed grape. Ruby seized a Boarbatusk that had tried to roll into her face and broke off one of it's tusks.
Gripping the appendage, Ruby rammed it straight back into it's owner while nailing it to the ground with a dust cloud kicking up from the blow. Grimm Blood soaked the ground as Ruby fought her way through the gathering of despair, her clothes getting ripped apart from the constant exchange of ever more brutal blows.
Yang watched Ruby with a horrified look, seeing her baby sister act little more than a blood-thirsty beast, while their father silently muttered an apology to Summer for having failed to protect Ruby from this.
Grimm started to dogpile on top of Ruby, hoping to crush her under their combined weight. They were proven wrong when purple light shimmered to life under the dogpile, which then turned into beams of concentrated energy that vaporized every Grimm on top of her.
Those beams came from the dorsal plates upon her back, steam already hissing off of them when they had shut off. Feeling the ground shudder under her, Ruby turned as a Taijitu bit down on her right shoulder, the teeth pressing down on her skin to pierce it.
Bit by bit, the venom-laced fangs sunk into her skin as she tried to pull them back with her arms. The poison was being burned away by the heat, but the fangs continued to sink further into her shoulder from the Grimm using every bit of it's strength to push down on her.
The Grimm's heavier weight caused Ruby to drop to one knee, her mouth set in a snarl of pure savagery. Pushing up on the Grimm even harder, Ruby got her knee back up before she lunged at the Grimm's throat.
Her jagged teeth bit deep into the jugular of the Grimm and ripped it out before swallowing the Grimm flesh. The Grimm thrashed around before succumbing to the wound, it's black essence drifting away on the wind.
A loud series of clicking sounds came from the forest before a Deathstalker knock down some trees to reveal itself. Rushing over to it, Ruby grabbed the claw of the giant Scorpion that had tried to cut her in half with as she approached, and pulled with all of her weight. A nightmarish screech came from the demonic beast as it's arm was severed from it's body.
Raising the stolen limb to her side, Ruby wound up her swing and smashed it into the right side legs of the Grimm, toppling it while exposing it's underbelly. Ruby tossed the claw away before ripping open the Grimm with her own claws.
Black blood splattered on Ruby's face, the color of it mixing with her own deathly white facial skin and giving her the look of a monster. A Ursa Major shoulder slammed into her and sent Ruby skidding back a few feet.
It's slobbering jaws tried to take off her head as Ruby held it back. Grasping it's top and bottom jaws with either hand, Ruby ripped up on the top jaw and down on the bottom jaw, the Grimm's head combusted with bits and pieces of it going everywhere.
Whistling wind and her own RADAR alerted to a barrage of steel-sharp Nevermore feathers raining down at her. Choosing her target, Ruby seized one heading at her chest and spun around before throwing back at one of the flying Nevermores.
Squawking loudly was all it could do prior to becoming a feathered shish-kabob. Another mega-pack of Beowulves rushed at her, with Ruby pivoting her body to slam her long tail into them all at once.
Startled yelps were cut short when all but three of the Grimm imploded upon impact with Ruby's tail. Running at the nearest Beowulf of the three, Ruby crushed it's throat with her hands. Dodging the next one's lunging attack, Ruby used it's momentum to rip open it's side with her claws.
It landed in a bloodied heap behind her as she turned face the remaining Grimm with her silver eyes ablaze with seething ire. Enough was enough, she wouldn't suffer these Grimm to be near her anymore.
Building atomic energy into her throat, Ruby felt her throat swell with intense heat pulled from her blood and heart. Purple ultraviolet light shone through neck and mouth, the temperature of her body and air around her rising with each passing second.
Yang had leapt out of the window despite protest from their father minutes beforehand. Now, she was close enough to feel the heat building around Ruby, and it was started to damage her aura.
Her lower jaw split in half and a loud rumble echoed in the air. Several of the Grimm that were not mindless recognized the danger, their attempts to flee were futile in the end, however. Soon the glow erupted into a searing atomic beam.
There was a high pitched whistle screamed through the air from the beam, the sweltering heat burning a hole through even the air.
Ruby aimed the beam at the Grimm horde and atomized everything it touched with its heat that was several hundred times hotter than the sun's surface. The ground turned into magma and trees turned to pure steam, every single last Grimm was annihilated in a instantaneous fashion.
Yang was screaming in fear and pain from behind Ruby since she could barely withstand the heat using her aura, even then, she could feel her flesh starting to burn...
The heat around Ruby numbered in the thousands Celsius, the ground under her had turned into a bubbling pool of molten rock and liquid fire. Ruby's clothes were reduced to ash that coated her body, the black remains barely covering her modesty.
Yang felt her aura break from trying to protect her against the hellish heat. She backed up screaming as her skin turned a blistering red color, boils appearing on her hands and arms.
"ARRRRAAGHH!" Yang screamed while stumbling back and landing on her ass, the pain of her skin cooking flashing across her body.
Though Ruby's attention was brought to Yang, which may be not a good thing. The girl shut off the death beam coming from her mouth, a slight amount of black blood streaming from the lower left side of her jaws.
A loud growl shook the area as steam hissed off of Ruby's body in waves of white mist, Ruby's silver eyes locked onto Yang who looked deathly afraid. Yang could see some of the fire raging in Ruby's eyes. The agony, rage, suffering, sadness, and hate all swirling like a maelstrom in her silver iris's.
Some of the fire died when Ruby locked eyes with Yang, Ruby slowly sank to her left knee and saliva mixed with black blood dribbled in tides down her mouth. Yang got worried seeing Ruby lose so much blood in a single day, though she got even more worried when Ruby fell sideways and curled into a ball.
"RUBY!" Yang yelled while pushing her body past its limits to reach her little sister.
Once she had reached about ten feet in front of Ruby, she saw Ruby trying to cry but every tear evaporated into steam. Yang couldn't get any closer because of the bubbling molten ground under Ruby, leaving her useless with being able to console her baby sister.
"Why did I go to that fucking island? It took less than a day for me to become such a abomination!" Ruby sobbed while her tail slowly twisted until it laid on top of her head, the sentient flesh seemingly trying to comfort her.
Ruby felt her tail slowly rub the top of her head, the want of any type of comfort made her grabbed her tail and press it to her cheek while sobbing. Her mental state was slowly declining with every passing day, enduring agonizing evolution after evolution.
Soon she would either break under the battering of her mind or find something new to make the pain lessen.
Annnnnd that's it!
