Disclaimer: I do not own Digimon.

Every chapter I appreciate more and more the threat Rei Kurenada is becoming. However, I can't forgive him for his actions because of all that he has done and seeks to do. It is foolish to go against him though. As the saying goes 'Resistance is Futile'.

Chapter 15: The Resistance of the Slaughtered

The screaming digital souls flooded into his domain like a maelstrom, a symphony of madness, Rei reveling in it. He placed his hands out as if he himself had been the orchestrator playing on an imaginary organ building up his forces.

Around him more data poured in slowly creating his castle out of viral data. He marveled in the chaos as his territory became more defined, not only a castle interior, but also the entire structure of the castle starting to appear.

"And who would have thought?" he said aloud. "Had it not been for Skamon's data saving me I would have not known such power. Poor deluded soul," he laughed. He felt slightly bitter for saying those words after all that Skamon had done for him, but he took his life just the same.

At that moment a flood of digital data particles streamed in, Rei delighted by them.

"Terrormon you are relentless," he noticed. "This used to be a whole flock of what were they called? Gazimon? They will make useful foot soldiers," he said as the data swarmed towards him. Holding out both hands, the dark digital data pouring out he transformed their data into demonic looking rabbits with sharp, bulky figures, and razor-like claws.

They opened their eyes looking around instinctively reacting to Rei's every move.

"All of you each move to a different part of the castle. Keep an eye out for any enemies that might attack us. Alert me should you see anything suspicious."

"Lord!" they all said with one voice.

Rei then turned around panting slightly, a bit tired from manipulating so much data. "I suppose even I have my limits," he said yawning.

He then ignored everyone else and went into his own quarters. It had been constructed out of digital data, so many sacrifices having carved the room into existence.

He laid down on his bed, the softness pleasant, the luxurious interior pleasing to rest in.

"Eventually," he said starting to fade out, "The Digital World will be no more. It will be a world in my image. So much better than yours," he said bitterly.

It had been such a long time that Rei experienced a dream. Even as a digital entity, he still somehow went through the sensations. But his dreams now were anything, but pleasant, Rei in the body of Terrormon, looking through his eyes as Digimon pleaded for their lives, but were mercilessly slaughtered, their data flowing towards his dark domain.

He realized that somehow due to his data being a part of Terrormon though he could not do this while he was awake, subconsciously he could observe within Terrormon. Rei reasoned it must have been because this one had not just been converted, but, it contained a part of himself.

He chuckled to himself witnessing the carnage, realizing again how much of an effective asset Terrormon had become.

He then turned as a voice called out to Terrormon, Rei curiously glancing over.

"Hey, ugly!" the voice shouted, him turning to see what looked like a pink head with long ears and sharp teeth.

Rei recognized this digimon. Koromon, he thinks it was called.

"Getting your death's attention is the easiest way to go," he acknowledged. "You will all be hunted to the ends of the Digital World. It is an appropriate time to die."

"Ha!" he laughed defiantly. "I laugh in your face! There is no way you can destroy the Koromon spirit! We're no cowards!"

"It's not a cowardly thing to run knowing you have no chance," he said.

He looked ahead noticing a hoard of Koromon in the distance fleeing.

"So, you think you're protecting them? Is that it?" he asked.

"I don't have to answer to someone who kills for the heck of it," he said gritting his teeth. "I'll show you!"

With that the Koromon approached him and unleashed a bunch of irritating pink bubbles against him.

"Ha! How do you like that!" he grinned. "Bet you didn't see that coming!"

"No, I certainly didn't," he said reaching forward and grabbing the pest by the ears holding it up in front of it, much to the digimon's horror.

"You fight dirty!" he groaned, his ears being squeezed. "Let go! Let go!"

"Oh you're going somewhere all right," he said drawing his blade, Koromon's eyes scared as if realizing he would die.

"Do you have any last words?"

Koromon groaned trying to free himself, but then stopped having used all of his energy. "If only I could find some way to become more than what I am. Then you would not stand a chance! If I ever get the chance again one day I will defeat you! To protect my village! And all Digimon!"

"That's nonsense," he said stabbing forward piercing through the Koromon, it's data falling apart in front of him. "You won't be reborn. You're going to the dark domain where I will remake you with my own purpose," he grinned.

He started to move on in the direction that the other Koromon went, the landscape changing into a lifeless wasteland, and the data heading over to his domain. No Digimon could stand against him. This was a war of attrition. And it would not end until he had the Digital Creator's head hoisted on top of his castle.

Rei Kurenada awoke feeling refreshed. His body had regained it's vigor and he felt a slight hunger. He would have to have something to eat, something that picqued his fancy.

He got out of bed and walked through his castle over to where his dark gazimon had digimon were monitoring data for him of all that crossed over into the domain.

"Darkgazimon," he said, all of the bumbling rabbits getting together standing in front of him.

"Lord!" they saluted.

"I'm feeling a bit cheerful today," he said, "After having such a pleasant dream, but, may be it was not a dream."

"What do you mean by that?" one asked.

"In my subconscious state I appeared inside Terrormon and observed him destroying a Koromon village. Can you confirm this actually happened?"

"Yes sir," one said. "Our most recent data does say that the data of a koromon village has been absorbed into our domain. We're actively looking to change it."

"Do that," he said. "Make designs for an altar in my name with it. I will approve the final design."

"Yes Lord!"

"Oh, yes, and one more thing," he said feeling his stomach growl. "What of the Koromon that Terrormon slaughtered? I'm feeling a bit peckish. It's data sounds very savory to me. I wish to eat it at once."

"Lord?" one said a bit confused.

"What is it?" he said annoyed. "Just do as your told and give it to me this instant."

"That's the thing," one replied. "We took in all of the data, but their was not a single Koromon data that had been sent over."

"What? That's not possible," he said thinking deeply. All data were absorbed into this world, but then why did this Koromon not be brought over there? It did not make sense.

"Lord, we're very sorry," one said bowing his head.

"Not as sorry as you're going to be," Rei said disappointed to no end grabbing him amid the digimon's cries and converting him into digital particles absorbing him, the other Digimon staring in shock and fear.

He sighed out. The difference between the digital particles and that of that koromon would have been like comparing rations in the military to fine dining.

"Never mind," he said. "Let me know if you see any other oddities like this."

"Lord!" they said fearfully getting back to work.

Rei walked away kicking the doors open, his hands in his pocket. Something about the Koromon's defiant eyes irritated him.

"It matters not," he said going to his castle and sitting on his throne, resting his cheek on his knuckle. "Their is not a digimon alive that can stand against me. Eventually all the Digital World will be part of this domain and the Digital Creator will have nowhere to hide.

Later on as Rei contemplated his battle plans for the future the dark gazimon approached him.

"Lord," they said.

"I did not summon you. You have thirty seconds," he said hated having been bothered.

"We just received a large digimon that Terrormon had destroyed," they said. "It's a pretty powerful one."

"How powerful?"

"We think it might have been a mega!"

"Mega? It matters not. Let's see it," he said getting off of his throne and approaching a large stream of digital data.

"Well now," he said realizing this digimon certainly had a vigor he had not seen in awhile. "Let's see what you can do."

With that Rei lifted up it's hands and fashioned the digital particles into dark DNA, a behemoth of a squid like jellyfish monster appearing to the darkgazimon's horror, Rei watching as it ingested a few of them.

"Very nice," Terrormon smirked. "But that appearance is unbecoming of a servant. You deserve a more humane one," he said changing him to the appearance of a humanoid figure and even giving it butler clothes.

"Many thanks," the digimon said tilting a pair of glasses on his face.

"Well," Rei responded. "And what shall you call yourself my servant?"

"It matters not," he replied. "I am your butler, and will fulfill any wishes of yours to the very digital particle. Any name you give me will be the best choice."

"Then I will give you one," he answered. "Your name will be…Cthulusmon."

Cthulusmon proved to be a very competent servant. Rei entrusted and uploaded to him his plans and become his main architect at constructing the castle. Not only this, but he also trained the Darkgazimon and helped ensure his plans went through smoothly, while also at the same time keeping any disturbances away from him unless they absolutely required his attention.

As he planned ahead in his own war room recently constructed with a whole mountainside, Cthulusmon knocked on his door disturbing him, but unlike the incompetent Darkgazimon Cthulusmon never annoyed him.

"Pardon the intrusion Lord," he said. "We have an issue that needs to be resolved by your hand."

This snapped Rei out of his contemplation. "An intrusion? Let's hear it."

"It appears there is a wild wolf like digimon causing disturbances in the captured territories. It is setting the ground on fire causing it to burn disrupting the flow of digital information over here."

"A wolf-like digimon?"

"Sources say based off of the data of a blue flame that is more than likely Garurumon, a champion level."

"I see," he replied. "It will be a nuisance if data stops flowing over here. Are their any others?"

"It's not an isolated incident," he replied tipping his glasses on his face. It looks like the Digimon are planning a resistance against Terrormon."

"Ho?" he said his hand trembling with delight. "Really? So they want to be slaughtered?"

"It would seem so," he chuckled.

"What more can you tell me?"

"Their is a digimon, a massive digimon transporting weaker smaller digimon to an island in the sky. We have not been able to identify it, but, according to our charts of digimon that have been captured so far we think it could be a Garudamon, an ultimate."

"Ultimate?" he wondered. "Why are their so many digimon with different levels?"

"Unknown," he said. "Perhaps it's a self defense mechanism?"

"Perhaps," Rei replied. "It would make sense Digital Creator," he said allowed, "That even you would defend your creations."

"Indeed," Cthulusmon replied nodding his head. "Our sources also indicate some digimon is rallying the digimon in the sea and ice. One is gathering together the digimon in the desert, and one is gathering the insect types out from the nooks and crannies of the forest and caves."

Rei tapped his finger on his chair thinking about the nuisances. "Of course with just Terrormon laying waste converting Digital Data he can't be everywhere at once. None of them stand a chance, but they are slowing down the trajectory of conquering the Digital World. I believe we're at 22%," Rei responded.

"Yes, well, we were," Cthulusmon answered. "But with the Garurumon having burned up areas of viral occupation it has now dropped to 21% and keeping numbers at about that point."

"Yes, we'll have to do something about that," Rei said. "I will summon you shortly," he said.

"Very good my Lord." With that his butler digimon left.

Rei locked the doors and opened up the library of information he had gained looking at all of the data in his domain.

"I've not successfully been able to recreate a digimon that can destroy and send over the digital records to my dark domain," he said. "Yet, I will have to create my own army and take the losses of the digital data. It seems my enemies are finally starting to get serious."

He grinned looking towards his table in the center of the room with a chessboard on it. "It's my move, isn't it Digital Creator?" he scoffed. "Very well. Let me show you what happens when you kindle my wrath even just a little."

Rei retired for the evening yearning to experience the sight of destruction. He had spent hours upon hours re-configuring DNA into his own personal monstrous army, but none of them could get past the rookie stage. But it did not matter. Even those rookies in their swarming numbers could overwhelm the enemy.

He decided to call his army of rookie digimon blazermon, dark digimon wielding dark fire and flames laying waste to the digital world, chopping up digimon and taking over their territories until Terrormon arrived and changed it into digital data.

Eventually the wolf digimon showed up to defeat them, but no matter how many he destroyed, more of his foot soldiers took over able to eventually overpower the wolf, it's howling blaster attacks finally fizzling out as the digimon panted being held down by the blazermon.

He watched through the eyes of Terrormon as he approached him, his blade drawn.

"You've been a thorn in my side," he said. "But you underestimated your opponent. The weak are strong in large numbers."

The wolf barked out gritting it's teeth growling at him.

"I knew the risk," he said, "But even if it slowed you down a little it was well worth it. We won't go down without a fight."

Terrormon approached him holding his sword out to his throat. "If I may ask," he said, "What caused this sudden act of rebellion to fight?"

"It was the death of Koromon," he replied. "His death rallied all the other digimon who respected him and the koromon village. You may martyr us, but you will never break our will or our friendship. We're family!"

"Family?" Terrormon scoffed.

"And I do this for my family!" he growled jumping on his arm, grabbing it biting it with his teeth.

Terrormon did not hesitate and pierced him through, Garurumon's eyes opening wide. "You're going to the pound. Let's see if we can twist you to becoming a servant in a viral form," he sneered, Garurumon howling out as it dissolved.

Rei kept dreaming, venturing forward attacking the digimon with his hungry horde. Weak digimon were easily taken care of and the stronger were attacked and held down until Terrormon arrived.

However, there was an island he could not reach high in the sky. He eventually captured the fowl Garudamon, and although he lost a great number of soldiers, he could not convince her to take them to the island in exchange for her life. Even as she experienced agony, her words resounded within him that put him on edge:

"I will not betray them. To my family. To my kin, to my fellow Mon. I love them," she groaned out breaking apart, feathers and all.

She too became a digital casualty.

He then next focused his efforts on the buggy digimon, but still could not find a bug digimon that rallied them. He slaughtered countless Kuagamon, flymon, snimon, and many others, but still he could not find it, until he saw one digimon, Tentomon hiding among the rocks emitting a strange noise that called other digimon to it.

"Such a clever strategy," Terrormon grinned. He went above him, Rei observing everything. He then went down quickly smashing on the digimon's back, cracking it's shell.

The digimon did it's best to get away, but Terrormon slowly squeezed, squashing the bug.

"To think you manipulated the frequencies of the other bug digimon in order to follow you and even coordinated a strategy. You have my accolades insect," he said squeezing harder, the digimon groaning out until he pressed so hard it cracked it completely, the digimon dissolving.

The days wore on, Rei realizing that over time being in Terrormon's body he now could control when he could leave it. He would wake up not only feeling refreshed but invigorated to continue his plan realizing the resistance of Digimon kind had been failing.

He stretched his arms after this particular trip chuckling deeply. "They are such pathetic entities," he laughed sympathetically. "To serve the Digimon Creator, to be a created being of that imperfect defective deity, is truly something to be pitied."

"Of course," Cthulusmon replied. "Does that mean you might change your mind and spare them?"

Rei never batted an eye. "Of course not. The war is waged against the Digital Creator and this will not end until I say it's over. Cthulusmon," he mused, "Go over with me the conquered territories."

"Yes Lord," Cthulusmon replied. "We have taken the Insect stronghold after you had terminated the one who manipulated their frequencies. The island domain is isolated, but they have nowhere to go. That will fall in time since no digimon remain to bring it supplies or other digimon for safety."

"Very good," he replied. "Continue."

"The Koromon village is all but a memory, though we've only been able to track a handful of them down. The data streams to this Dark Domain are also flowing smoothly with the Garurumon gone. We've also began hunting beast-like digimon stalking the woods that have been attacking in packs. They are nothing when Terrormon or your minions swarm them."

"That is good news," he said. "And of the data? Do we have any problems in receiving them?"

His butler seemed to swallow. "Their is...a couple of technicalities with the data received," he said hesitantly.

"Technicalities?" Rei wondered instantly coming to memory the Koromon whose data had not arrived. "What do you mean?"

"For some reason there are isolated incidents of digimon whose data is not being turned into your servants, your kingdom or your army. It is a bit baffling, but it is not interrupting operations, so, I felt it was not important to trouble you with."

At this Rei manifested his rage in front of him showing his malice in blackened flames, the butler petrified, shaking in amazement and fear at him.

"Tell me Cthulusmon, for being so meticulous how could you even think that such information was of no importance? Did you think perhaps you were smarter than me or knew better? Perish that thought from your mind! We are at war with the Digital Creator! Though he is imperfect, he created the Digital World and all Digimonkind. He is not to be underestimated," he said reaching forward grabbing his throat, his eyes burning terror into his.

"Do you understand me?"

"W-well Lord," Cthulusmon said as if suffocating just by his touch. "I will never withhold any information from you like that ever again!"

As quickly as he had choked him, he pulled back his hand, sliding his fingertips under his chin and turned around, the malice disappearing into a cool, chilly air.

"Well," he said having resumed an aura of calmness. "Now you know. I trust this will not happen again?"

"Never!" his butler declared immediately falling to a knee. "Forgive your servant for this treacherous behavior!" he groaned gritting his teeth.

"I don't forgive," Rei replied. "Because there is nothing to forgive. You have been warned. And I don't give second warnings. Do I make myself clear?"

"Yes," his butler replied as if bitterly regretting his actions. "I will take that into account."

The hours started to weary Rei, a headache frustrating him, Rei even surprised he could get headaches still with his adapting body. It seemed even though he was no longer human Digimon could also experience these sensations and have them linger. Pain went away, but headaches and other ailments also took their course.

He had his butler bring him some water and sat down at his strategy table observing how the pieces fared on the battlefield.

"I have captured quite a few territories, the territories becoming part of my Dark Domain," he said drinking the bitter water, hoping it would clear his head.

"But still," he groaned, "maybe it's too easy taking these territories. Perhaps it has something to do with the information that will not be brought over," he mused looking over next to the strategy table at a chess table he had set up to motivate him in his war.

He walked over to it rubbing his hand on the sides of the table.

"So then, which is it?" he questioned. "Are you really that incompetent? Or are you making your next move Digital Creator? Regardless I will not delay my onslaught. The Digital World will be mine."

Rei Kurenada personally inhabited Terrormon as he attacked the coast and the ocean. Immediately his forces were beset by crustacean-like digimon and other digimon, but it did not matter. They could not so much as even make a dent in Terrormon.

He swung his sword once instantly dissolving his foes and then started to head into the ocean, but the ocean seemed to take on a life of it's own as the waters threw themselves at him. Rei didn't mind. Viral Digimon did not obey the laws of the Digital World anyway so he could not drown.

A wall of serpents and fish came at him unleashing all of their attacks, one digimon in particular catching his attention.

"Ha!" the digimon snickered. "All right fish go get him!" he yelled. He called out 'Marching Fishes' as annoying weak fish came at Terrormon, other larger, and even hungrier looking digimon coming at them, Terrormon in their direction.

"Hey!" he chuckled. "You guys get those fish and I'll have more where that's coming from waiting for ya!" he added clapping his hands. For some reason it seemed to have infinite resources, the other digimon attacking the fish and Terrormon at the same time, but it was a futile effort.

Rei literally grabbed a Seadramon by the jaws and snapped it's neck, the digimon dissolving. Not many fared better, Rei noticing they started to surround him, the fish around him also swimming around him like in a school.

"You might think you are an asset foul little one," Rei chuckled, "But you are no more than fish food yourself," he grinned swinging the mighty broadsword, a whole bunch of digimon flying through the air, including the white seal like one.

Rei hovered up to the surface, the digimon weakly coughing, floating, it's eyes heavy.

"Guess I wasn't very reliable," he snickered. "Man I sure dropped the ball on this one."

"Indeed," Rei agreed speaking through Terrormon. "You were truly pathetic, but, before I terminate your life I will ask you a question and you will answer me."

"Huh?" Gomamon asked hazily.

Rei knew he did not have much time. He picked up Gomamon by the back of his fur. "Tell me, is there anything special about certain Digimon that prevents their data from being used?

Gomamon breathed out weakly. "Ok, I'll tell you," he grunted. "Come closer," he said, Rei leaning his ear.

The Digimon grinned. "Go blow smoke you rusted bucket of bolts," he insulted him.

Rei would not have that. Without hesitation he plunged the blade through Gomamon, Gomamon looking down.

"Hey, check it out," he said weakly. "I'm dissolving. That looks...cool," he smiled closing his eyes disintegrating.

Rei flicked Terrormon's blade of the digimon's data. "I hope that's the last I have seen of that data. On to the next one!"

The Desert proved to be more of a slow stretch. This time his pawns were with him, the merciless digimon latching their mouths onto any weak digimon in their way whether it was a plant, a bird, or a potato digimon.

Even a wimpy sheriff appeared guns blazing, but his minions quickly devoured him, guns and all.

He made his way through a wild west town until he reached a slope where he could see rows and rows of plants sticking out of the ground.

"Now!" a voice replied from on top of the slope. With that, the ground shook and what looked like a giant cactus spun out of the ground like a helicopter shooting sharp needles, so many to such a degree the entire sky turned black, Rei holding out both arms as he took it, all of his minions with him having been turned into pin cushions dissolving.

"We got him on the ropes!" the digimon cried, Terrormon recognizing it as Togemon. "We've got him now!"

Floramon, and other digimon in the desert rallied together flinging all of their attacks at them, but Rei grinned at their feebleness. He raised one arm and swung it to the side, the needle pins sticking out of him flinging towards the opposition impaling many, most of the forces defeated.

"It can't be," Togemon groaned. "We had this all planned. We gave it everything we have and now we're all going to die."

"It seems you've made your peace!" Rei shouted. "So come on down and make your end! Unless you're also a special digimon to the Digimon Creator! Come meet your end and join the others!"

Togemon gritted her fist, her expression changing to understanding, but then determination. "I could never turn my back and flee after they did their best to get here and make a stand. They came from all over! Low level digimon wanting to rally together and fight you and save this world! And for what?!" she lamented.

"Good question," Rei chuckled. "As I'm sure you can see the results for yourself."

The cactus then calmed down, relaxing and then with a mighty cry came down at him shouting out 'Coconut Upper' to punch him, the red glove connecting to Rei, but his sword having impaled the cactus, the cactus groaning and flopping weakly.

"You sincerely thought you and that ragtag group could beat me?" he wondered mocking her. "You are more pathetic than even they."

"Heh," she groaned. "I may have lost, but even still," she said contently. "I at least got in...one...punch like I promised," she said weakly fading out and her data disintegrating."

Rei dropped his sword placing his hands over his eyes laughing hysterically. "Such weaklings!" he exclaimed. "Isn't their any decent challenge? Ever since I slaughtered the angels I have mowed down all my enemies! Is this all you have Digital Creator?!" he wondered ecstatically. "Is this how the Digital World ends?"
