Episode 296: Mount Pyre and the Orbs
Before we get this chapter started, I thought I would make this chapter in dedication to ChipmunkRaccoonOz (ChipmunkOfOz) since Sora, Kairi, and Lisia will be meeting Phoebe in this chapter.
Shortly after departing from Steven Stone, Sora, Kairi, Ethan, Kris, Lyra, Pikachu, Angel, Xipak, Celeste, and Marill have traveled down the road to Lilycove City to where the next Pokémon Contest was being held and Kairi's chance to earn her fourth Contest Ribbon. the group has arrived to a fork in the road. One way leads towards Lilycove City, and the other leads towards Mount Pyre.
"You know, Mount Pyre could be an interesting place to check out, don't you think?" Ethan asked.
"Yeah, Steven did suggest that we should"And we could train while we're here though," Sora said.
"You're right. It'll be a good idea to train," Sora said.
"That gives me the time I need to decide on which Pokémon to use in the Contest and everything," Kairi said.
"Eevee," Angel said,
"Eevee," Celeste said.
"Okay, it's decided. We'll explore Mount Pyre and find a decent spot to train," Sora said.
"Yeah!" The rest of the group agreed. With that said, Sora, Kairi, Ethan, Kris, Lyra, Pikachu, Angel, Xipak, Celeste, and Marill went down Mount Pyre's path to begin their exploration and their training. They finally made it to the foothill of the mountain, but it gave off an eerie sensation to it.
"So this is Mount Pyre," Ethan said.
"Uh, Lisia, anything we should know about? Anything at all?" Sora asked.
"Well, I was really little when I heard about it, but I was told that the spirits of Pokemon have been known to lurk around here," Lisia said.
"Spirits of Pokémon? You mean ghosts?" Kris asked.
"Yes. It is said that the spirits of the departed Pokémon rests Mount Pyre. And they're spirits of the past, present, and future. Always have and always will," Lisia said.
"It makes sense because it reminds me of the Pokémon Tower in Lavender Town. And there was an actual ghost in there," Sora said.
"You mean the ghost of that Marowak you told us about before?" Ethan asked.
"That's the one," Sora confirmed.
"But shouldn't we be worried about some Heartless up in this mountain?" Lyra asked.
"Marill," Marill said, feeling scared.
"We'll deal with them when we see them. But in the meantime, we should have a look," Sora said. Everyone agreed as they went up the mountain.
Meanwhile, Team Aqua is walking through some fog, but a some grunts were talking among themselves.
"Hey, did you hear about spirits around here?" One of the male grunts asked.
"Spirits? You mean ghosts?" One of the female grunts asked.
"Yeah, that's exactly what I mean," the first male grunt said.
"I did hear about that when I was a kid. They say that the spirits of dead Pokémon lurks in this mountain," another male grunt said.
"Are you sure that it's not just Ghost-type Pokémon like Duskull, Shuppet, or Sableye?" Another female grunt asked.
"They make their homes here, but it's not just them," the first male grunt said.
"Makes sense since Ghost-type Pokémon make their homes in creepy places like this," the second female grunt said.
"Yeah, like your last three boyfriends," the first female grunt commented.
"Shut up," the second female grunt said.
"Hey, quit beating your gums back there! That orb isn't going to find itself!" Matt yelled in the back.
The Team Aqua grunts complied with Matt and continued to follow him.
Meanwhile, Team Magma were also looking around for the temple.
"This place gives me the creeps," one of the male grunts said.
"You can say that again. This place is full of creeps," another male grunt said.
"It feels like one of those scary movies that a monster is lurking around in the trees and grabs someone when they least expects it," one of the female grunts said. Three of the grunts yelped.
"Hey, cut it out!" Another male grunt said.
"Yeah, knock it off!" Another female grunt said.
"Come on, I'm just messing with ya," the first female grunt said.
"Well, it's not too funny; especially those rumors of monsters going around," the third male grunt said.
"I'm with him. Those things will come at us at any moment," the second male grunt said.
"Suddosedly, there are monsters, we have nothing to worry about. We can just have our Pokemon attack them. After that, those monsters will think twice before picking a fight with us," the first male grunt said.
"He's right. Those monsters won't stand a chance against us!" The first female grunt said.
"Hurry it up back there! We need that Red Orb!" Courtney said.
Team Magma went back to their mission to retrieve the Red Orb.
Meanwhile, Sora, Kairi, Ethan, Kris, Lyra, Lisia, Pikachu, Angel, Xipak, Celeste, and Marill have been walking through the mountain path and they found a spot to settle in.
"Well, this spot should do," Kairi said.
"We've been up here not too long and we haven't even seen a ghost yet," Lyra said.
"Marill," Marill said.
"Yeah, not even a Heartless, Unversed, or Nobody either," Ethan said.
"I think I'd rather see a ghost than one of those any day of the week and any month of the year," Lisia said.
"Me too," Kris and Lyra said.
"Well, let's get started," Sora said, taking out his Pokéballs and his Ultra Ball. He threw them as Swellow, Grovyle, Combusken, Marshtomp, Latios, Lombre, Lairon, Vibrava, Shelgon, Metang, and his Kirlia came out. Kairi took out her Pokéballs and her Ultra Ball as Plusle, Minun, Roselia, Altaria, Delcatty, Mawile, Milotic, Castform, Spinda, Latias, and her Kirlia came right out. "Okay, guys, let's get started on our training." Pikachu, Swellow, Grovyle, Combusken, Marshtomp, Latios, Lombre, Lairon, Vibrava, Shelgon, Metang, and his Kirlia nodded and they got to position for their training. He looked at Xipak. "Hey, Xipak, you wanna be in on it, too?" Xipak's face lit up.
"Pika," Xipak said. Xipak joined up with the rest of the Pokémon. Kairi's Pokémon were getting started on their training as Celeste joined them in.
As they trained, Sora has called back Swellow, Lombre, and Latios and then exchanged them for Cacnea, Wailmer, and Dusclops. Sora has let them out and got started on their training. Kairi has called back Latias, Castform, and Mawile for Volbeat, Illumise, and Lileep.
During their training, Cacnea, Wailmer, and Lileep have evolved.
"Wow, look at you, Wailord. Now you're the world's largest Pokémon. How does that feel?" Sora asked.
"Wailord," the newly evolved Wailord said. Sora chuckled.
"I thought so," Sora said.
Unknown to them, a girl watches them not too far away. She is a small and very slender little girl with short spiky black hair, bare feet, tan skin and blue eyes with two big red Hawaiian style cornflowers that cover the sides of her head. She wears a blue two-piece sarong like dress with a strapless bra, white Hawaiian style cornflowers and a Pokémon logo on it. Phoebe also wears a red ankle bracelet on her left leg.
Meanwhile, Team Magma continued on their mission and arrived to what looks like a temple.
"There it is. The temple that we've been looking for. The Red Orb has to be inside there. Let's go," Courtney said. The grunts complied with their squad leader and ventured inside the temple, unaware that Team Aqua is right behind them.
"That's the temple. The Blue Orb is in there," Matt said.
"Archie will be tickled pink when we come back with the Blue Orb," one of the female grunts said.
"He would," Archie agreed. "The Blue Orb is waiting for us." Team Aqua stepped inside to search for the Blue Orb.
Back with the group, Kairi looked among her Pokémon and she stroked her chin.
"Kairi, have you figured out which one of your Pokémon you're gonna use in the Lilycove City Pokémon Contest?" Lisia asked.
"I thought long and hard, and I decided that I would go with my Altaria. I think she'll do a wonderful job in following Ali's footsteps," Kairi said.
"Taria," Altaria chirped.
"I think it's a great idea, Kairi," Sora said.
"I agree. Choosing the right Pokémon for a Pokémon Contest is really important," a girl's voice said. They saw the girl walking up to them.
"How long have you been back there?" Sora asked.
"Long enough. I've been watching you training, and I can see you and your Pokémon are in perfect sync," the girl said.
"Thanks," Sora said.
"Hey, I know you! You're Phoebe of the Elite Four of the Hoenn region, aren't you?" Lisia asked.
"Yes, I am. And I know who you are. You're Lisia, Wallace's niece. It's nice to finally meet you," Phoebe said.
"I feel the same way," Lisia said. She looked over to Sora and stroked her chin.
"And I know you. You're Sora, aren't you?" Phoebe asked.
"How do you know about me?" Sora asked.
"Sidney told me about you. He mentioned that you and Kairi were traveling the Hoenn region along with Wallace's niece, and he told me to keep an eye out for you. I can say he was right to tell me," Phoebe said.
"Wow, I didn't think Sidney would be talking about us," Sora said.
"Well, we should let you know our names, too. My name's Ethan," Ethan introduced himself.
"My name's Kris," Kris introduced herself.
"And I'm Lyra, and this is Marill," Lyra introduced herself and her partner.
"Marill!" Marill said.
"Nice to meet you," Phoebe said with a smile. Sora then looked right at Phoebe's feet. He noticed that they don't seem to be bothered or cut up, and it didn't seem natural to him.
"Um, I'm kinda curious about something, but I don't want you to take it the wrong way. But aren't you bothered that you're climbing up the mountains barefooted?" Sora asked.
"Not at all, Sora. The thing is, I never really liked to wear shoes at all. In fact, I don't think I have ever worn shoes in my life. I always liked to walk around in my bare feet. It's a way to be one with nature," Phoebe said.
"I guess that makes sense," Kairi said.
"Eevee," Angel said.
"Eevee, vee," Celeste said.
Sora thought for a moment and he then gets an idea.
"Say, Phoebe, you think I can have a battle with you? I'm taking part of the Hoenn Pokémon League and the Battle Frontier, so I'm gonna need the exercise," Sora said. Phoebe chuckled.
"Sure thing, Sora," Phoebe said. "Let's make it a one-on-one battle."
"Sure thing," Sora said.
"Great, and I know which one I'm gonna use," Phoebe said, taking out a Pokéball and threw it. "Dusknoir, I choose you!" Her Pokéball opened and a new ghostly Pokémon emerged from inside.
It is a primarily black Pokémon that somewhat resembles a cyclops. Its cylindrical head is light gray with a single eye that has a yellow iris and a red pupil. Its eyelid resembles a smiling mouth, with its red eye being a tongue. There is a yellow band near the top of its head, and a short, yellow antenna with a disc-shaped tip extends from on top. Six flat projections extend from the base of its neck and surround its head, resembling an upturned collar. It has well-developed arms with two yellow bands near its wrists and large, gray hands. On the front of its torso are two almond-shaped markings, and on its back are two circular markings. Both sets of markings resemble eyes. A yellow band encircles its body, zigzagging along the front and forming a long curve around the back. It has a wispy tail in place of feet.
"Who's that Pokémon?" Sora asked, taking out his Rotom Phone and scanned it.
Dusknoir, the Gripper Pokémon
The evolved form of Dusclops
Type: Ghost
The antenna on its head captures radio waves from the world of spirits that command it to take people there.
"So that's what Dusclops will evolve into, huh?" Sora asked, putting his Rotom Phone away. "Hm, I could send in Cacturne since he's a Dark-type Pokémon, and Dark-types has an edge over Ghost-types." Before Sora could call on Cacturne, Dusclops stepped in.
"Dusclops," Dusclops said.
"Dusclops, you wanna battle?" Sora asked.
"Dus," Dusclops nodded.
"Okay, if that's what you want, then I'm gonna back you up," Sora said.
"You sure that's a good idea, Sora? You may wanna rethink that thought," Ethan said.
"He's right. Dusclops is weak against Ghost-type moves, and Dusclops is at a disadvantage over his evolved form," Lisia said.
"I know, but Dusclops wants to be in this, and I wanna back him up," Sora said.
"And that's what I like, Sora. You may have the first move," Phoebe said.
"Okay. Dusclops! Use Shadow Punch!" Sora ordered. Dusclops extends a shadowy fist right at the Gripper Pokémon.
"Dusknoir! Use Fire Punch to block it!" Phoebe ordered. Dusknoir uses a Fire Punch to block Dusclops's Shadow Punch.
"No way!" Sora gasped.
"Use Thunder Punch!" Phoebe ordered. Dusknoir came at Dusclops with a Thunder Punch and paralyzes the Beackon Pokémon in the process. "Use Hex!" Dusknoir unleashed Hex right at Dusclops and it deals some heavy damage, due to type weakness and his paralysis.
"Dusclops isn't looking so good," Kris said.
"I'll say not. Hex doubles the power when the opponent undergoes a status condition," Lyra said.
"Marill," Marill said.
"Dusclops! Hang in there!" Sora said.
"Use Hex again!" Phoebe ordered.
"Dodge it!" Sora called out. Dusclops managed to dodge Dusknoir's Hex before it could land a hit. "Use Shadow Punch!"
"Use Ice Punch to block!" Phoebe ordered. Dusknoir's fist emits ice, but Sora wasn't falling for the same trick twice.
"Dusclops! Back attack!" Sora called out, confusing Phoebe. Dusclops's shadowy fist goes behind Dusknoir and hits it on the back, much to her surprise. "Use Shadow Ball!" Dusclops unleashed a Shadow Ball and sends it right at Dusknoir, landing another hit. "Shadow Ball again!" Dusclops fired another Shadow Ball, hitting Dusknoir on the mark. "That's the way, Dusclops!"
"Not bad, Sora. I am mighty impressed. You trained your Dusclops well, and you deserve my respect. Can you keep it up?" Phoebe asked.
"I can. Dusclops! Shadow Punch!" Sora ordered. Dusclops sends out another Shadow Punch, hitting Dusknoir.
"Use Hex!" Phoebe ordered.
"Use Shadow Ball!" Sora ordered. Dusclops attempts to use Shadow Ball, but his paralysis kicked in. "Uh-oh." Dusknoir sends out a Hex, landing a hit onto Dusclops, resulting in a knockout. Sora has lost the battle. Sora went over to Dusclops and helped him up.
"Clops," Dusclops replied weakly.
"Hey, don't worry about it, Dusclops. You did your best, and that's all that matter," Sora said.
"I agree, Dusclops," Phoebe said, walking up to Sora and Dusclops. "I saw the bond you and Sora share and how much Sora trusts you. You've got a load of potential." Dusclops looked right at Dusknoir and it nodded with agreement. Dusclops then beamed. "And I think Dusclops can make good use of this." She took out what looks like an eerie purple cloth and hands it to Sora.
"What is it?" Sora asked.
"It's a Reaper Cloth. You can use it on your Dusclops if you want him to evolve into a Dusknoir. That's how I got mine to evolve," Phoebe said. Sora smiled.
"Thanks, Phoebe. I'll take it," Sora said, putting the Reaper Cloth in his backpack, knowing he was going to need it later. Sora then healed Dusclops of his injuries and his paralysis when Dusclops then felt something in the air. Dusknoir felt it, too. "Dusclops, what's wrong?"
"Dusclops senses a disturbance in the air. And Dusknoir can sense it, too," Phoebe said.
"Dusk," Dusknoir said.
"What kind of disturbance is it?" Kairi asked.
"I don't know, but it has to be serious if the Pokémon are upset about something. But they're not the only ones. The spirits of the Pokémon that has died over the years are disturbed, too. Whatever it is, someone is causing it to happen," Phoebe said.
"Whoever it is, we gotta put a stop to them," Ethan said.
"Right," Sora, Kairi, Kris, and Lyra agreed. Sora and Kairi called their Pokémon all except for Dusclops back inside and went off to find the source of the disturbance. Dusclops and Dusknoir went on ahead of them to find out the source of the disturbance. They eventually came to the temple that Team Magma and Team Aqua have arrived in.
"What is this place?" Kairi asked.
"It's the Temple of the Two Orbs," Phoebe said.
"Temple of the Two Orbs?" Ethan asked.
"Yes. It is said in legend that this is where the Red and Blue Orbs are kept inside. They were hidden for thousands of years in order to keep the Red and Blue Orbs out of the wrong hands," Phoebe said.
"And they're the keys in controlling Groudon and Kyogre," Sora said as he winced. "Guys I think I have an idea on who it is. I think it's Team Magma and Team Aqua."
"How do you know?" Phoebe asked.
"Just a bad feeling I had," Sora said.
"We'll have to go inside and put a stop to them," Lisia said.
"Lisia's right. Let's go," Kris said.
With that said, Sora, Kairi, Ethan, Kris, Lyra, Lisia, Phoebe, Pikachu, Angel, Xipak, Celeste, Marill, Dusclops and Dusknoir entered the temple and looked around for any clues.
Further inside, Team Magma have found what they were looking for. The Red and Blue Orbs were resting in the pedestals with the ancient texts of Groudon and Kyogre over them.
"There it is. The Red Orb. It's finally in reach. Grab it," Courtney said. A couple of the male grunts walked over towards the Red Orb and picked it up. "We got what we came for, so let's go."
"Someone's here," a man's voice said.
"If someone is here, then they'll regret coming in here," Matt said as he and his squad came closer. The two squads stared right at each other. "Well, well, well. And I thought my mind was playing tricks on me, because you're here right in front of me, Courtney. Where's Tabitha hiding?"
"I was gonna ask about Shelly, because I'm surprised that she's not holding your leash like she always does," Courtney said.
"Let me guess, you got to the Red Orb, didn't you? Well, it looks like you'll be going home empty-handed because once we get the Blue Orb, we'll grab that Red Orb just so you won't use it to wake up Groudon," Matt said.
"Is that right? I wasn't even interested in the Blue Orb until you brought it up, so I better have that taken care of," Courtney said, turning to her squad. "One of you get the other one." One of the male Team Magma grunts started to head for the Blue Orb to grab it.
"I don't think so! Don't let him reach that orb!" Matt ordered. One of the Team Aqua grunts rushed over to the Team Magma grunt and tackled him to the floor.
"Gotcha!" The male Team Aqua grunt said.
"Back off, you pirate!" The male Team Magma grunt barked.
"Get the Blue Orb!" Matt shouted. A couple of Team Aqua grunts rushed over to the Blue Orb to grab it.
"Stop them!" Courtney ordered. A handful of Team Magma grunts rushed to stop them, so they grabbed them to stop them, but one of the female Team Aqua grunts got loose and grabbed the Blue Orb.
"Got it!" The female Team Aqua grunt exclaimed.
"Good work. Now one more thing," Matt said, taking out a Pokéball and tossed it. His Pokéball opened and his Pokéball opened to reveal a Walrein. "Walrein! Use Ice Beam!" Walrein fired an Ice Beam. Courtney dodged Walrein's Ice Beam and she took her own Pokéball.
"So that's how you wanna play, is it? Then, play we shall! Go!" Courtney shouted as her Pokéball opened and a Magmortar emerged from inside. "Magmortar! Use Heat Wave!" Magmortar unleashed a Heat Wave right at Walrein, landing a hit.
The rest of the grunts have taken out their Pokéballs and threw them. Out came from inside were Mightyena, Houndoom, Golbat, Camerupt, Sealeo, Tentacruel, and Crawdaunt.
Hearing the commotion, Sora, Kairi, Ethan, Kris, Lyra, Lisia, and Phoebe knew they were getting closer. When they arrived, they saw Team Magma and Team Aqua going at each other's throats once again.
"Team Aqua and Team Magma!" Lisia exclaimed.
"I knew it! I was right!" Sora exclaimed. Matt and Courtney turned to see the group.
"You again!" Matt growled.
"I had a feeling I would see you again," Courtney said. "What brings you here?"
"We're here that you don't leave here with those Orbs!" Sora said.
"Yeah!" Ethan said.
"You think you can stop us? How amusing," Courtney said.
"You're not going to get in our way this time, kids, even with one of the Elite Four backing you up," Matt said.
"Don't be so sure," Phoebe said, turning to her Dusknoir. "Okay, Dusknoir. You know what to do." The Gripper Pokémon nodded and moved forward. Courtney laughed.
"How is that slow-moving Pokémon going to beat my Magmortar?" Courtney asked.
"Ha! That Dusknoir is no match for my Walrein!" Matt said.
"Magmortar! Use Flamethrower!" Courtney ordered.
"Walrein! Use Ice Fang!" Matt ordered.
"Dusknoir! Use Thunder Punch!" Phoebe ordered. Dusknoir's fists emits electricity and lands a punch onto Walrein and Magmortar. "Use Hex!" Dusknoir sends a Hex right at the opposing Pokémon, landing a hit on the both of them. Walrein and Magmortar were still standing.
"Nice try! Walrein! Use Blizzard!" Matt ordered. Walrein fired a Blizzard right at Dusknoir.
"Dusclops! Night Shade! Pikachu! Thunderbolt!" Sora ordered.
"Angel! Swift!" Kairi ordered.
Pikachu, Angel, and Dusclops fired their chosen attacks and blocked Walrein's Blizzard. Matt growled at their interference.
"Why you!" Matt growled.
"You're more of a nuisance than I remember," Courtney said.
"We have that affect on bad guys like you!" Ethan said, taking out Typhlosion's Pokéball and threw it. "Okay, Typhlosion! I choose you!" His Pokéball opened and Typhlosion emerged from inside with his neck flaring up. Kris took out her Pokéball and threw it.
"Go! Wani-Wani!" Kris called out. Her Pokéball opened and Wani-Wani emerged from inside.
"Typhlosion! Use Flamethrower!" Ethan ordered.
"Wani-Wani! Hydro Pump!" Kris ordered.
Typhlosion and Wani-Wani fired their chosen attacks right at Walrein and Magmortar.
"Magmortar! Use Hyper Beam!" Courtney ordered. Magmortar fired a Hyper Beam, blocking Typhlosion and Wani-Wani's attacks. Marill snuck over to Courtney while she was focused on the battle. The Aqua Mouse Pokémon looked right at Lyra who nodded. Marill nodded back. She jumped into Courtney's arms and grabbed the Red Orb. "What the?! Give that back!"
"Marill! Over here!" Lyra called out. Marill threw the Red Orb as hard as she could. Lyra jumped up and grabbed it. "Got it!"
"Let's get out of here!" Sora said.
"Sora's right! Let's go!" Phoebe said as she and the rest of the group ran off.
"No, you don't!" Courtney hissed. She turned to her squad. "Team Magma! The Red Orb has been stolen! Our priority is to get it back!"
"Yes, ma'am!" The Team Magma grunts said.
"Team Aqua, we must retrieve the Red Orb before Team Magma gets it back!" Matt ordered.
"Yes, sir!" The Team Aqua grunts said.
Both Team Magma and Team Aqua exited out of the temple to pursue the group.
Up ahead, knowing that they'll be hunting them down, they decided to scatter, and take the Blue Orb just to make sure Team Aqua doesn't get to use it. Sora, Kairi, Phoebe, Pikachu, Angel, Xipak, Celeste, Dusclops, and Dusknoir went one way as Ethan, Kris, Lyra, Lisia, Typhlosion, Wani-Wani, and Marill went the other way, and they will contact each other when either one of them gets the Blue Orb.
Team Magma and Team Aqua came out with the Mightyena, Houndoom, Sealeo, Crawdaunt, and Tentacruel, so they spread out to search for the group.
A Team Aqua squad has spotted Sora, Kairi, Phoebe, Pikachu, Angel, Xipak, Celeste, Dusclops, and Dusknoir with their Crawdaunt ready as they clamped their pincers. It turns out that the squad has the Blue Orb.
"Hand over the Red Orb!" The first male Team Aqua grunt demanded.
"Sorry, but we don't have it. But that Blue Orb isn't going anywhere with you!" Sora said.
"Oh no? We'll see about that? Crawdaunt! Use Bubble Beam!" The first male Team Aqua grunt ordered. The Crawdaunt fired a Bubble Beam right at them.
"Dusknoir! Use Hex to block it!" Phoebe ordered. Dusknoir uses Hex to block the Tentacruel's Poison Sting.
"Okay, Dusclops! Use Shadow Punch!" Sora ordered. Dusclops sends out a shadowy fist and punches one of the Crawdaunt, but it wasn't bothered by Dusclops's Shadow Punch.
"Your mommy must have dropped you on your head when you were a baby! You should have known that Ghost-type moves don't have too much affect on Dark-types like Crawdaunt!" The first male Team Aqua grunt said.
"But it did hit, didn't it?" Sora asked.
"Crawdaunt! Use Crabhammer!" The first male Team Aqua grunt ordered. The Crawdaunt came right at Dusclops with their pincers emitting water. They swing their pincers at Dusclops, dealing some heavy damage. The Crawdaunt then started to gang up on Dusclops.
"Dusclops!" Sora exclaimed.
"Dusknoir! Help Dusclops!" Phoebe ordered. Dusknoir complied with its Trainer by heading for the Crawdaunt. "Thunder Punch!" Dusknoir lands a Thunder Punch on each one of the Crawdaunt.
"Are you alright, Dusclops?" - Dusknoir subtitle.
"Yes, thanks to you." - Dusclops subtitle.
"Dusclops! Use Night Shade!" Sora ordered. Dusclops fired a Night Shade at the Crawdaunt, landing some damage and landing right on the Team Aqua grunts, making them drop the Blue Orb. Kairi rushes over to it and picked it up.
"Got the Blue Orb!" Kairi said.
"Let's make like a banana and split!" Sora said.
With that said, Sora, Kairi, Phoebe, Pikachu, Angel, Xipak, Celeste, Dusclops, and Dusknoir ran off as the Team Aqua grunts struggled to get up. The first male Team Aqua Grunt made contact with Matt.
"Matt, we found Phoebe and two of the kids, but they got the Blue Orb," the first male Team Aqua grunt reported.
"Then get it back!" Matt exclaimed.
"Yes, sir," the first Team Aqua grunt said, breaking contact.
Meanwhile, Ethan, Kris, Lyra, Lisia, Typhlosion, Wani-Wani, and Marill ran as Lyra is still holding the Red Orb, and Ethan's Rotom rings, and they see it's Sora calling. He answered it.
"Yeah, Sora?" Ethan asked.
"We got the Blue Orb! We took it from those Team Aqua chumps!" Sora said.
"Awesome! Now it's in our favor!" Ethan said.
"Yeah, but I don't think they're going to give up that easily! It won't be long until they come after us again, and the same can be said for Team Magma!" Sora said.
"The same can be said from our end!" Ethan said.
Just then, a couple of Mightyena appeared in front of them and growled.
"Mightyena!" Kris said.
"That could only mean..." Lisia said as Courtney said, appearing and her Magmortar.
"Did you honestly think we'd let you get away with this? Too bad for you if you did," Courtney said.
"Can't blame us for trying," Kris said.
"No, I can't, but I'm going to get the Red Orb back and make Team Magma's dream a reality," Courtney said.
"Not in this lfetime, sister!" Kris said.
"Yeah! You can have this back when you pry it out of our cold, dead fingers," Ethan said.
"I can make that happen, little boy. Magmortar! Use Flamethrower!" Courtney ordered. Magmortar fired a Flamethrower right at them.
"Typhlosion! You fire Flamethrower, too!" Ethan ordered. Typhlosion fired Flamethrower, blocking Magmortar's Flamethrower. They held on tightly, unaware of something hiding not too far from them. It turns out to be a Kecleon as it drops its invisibility and extends its tongue and sntached the Red Orb from her.
"Hey!" Lyra exclaimed.
"Good work! It's time to finish this, Magmortar," Courtney said. Magmortar increases the power of its flames and pushes Typhlosion's Flamethrower and engulfs the Volcano Pokémon in flames. "Now, use Hyper Beam!" Magmortar fired a Hyper Beam, knocking out Ethan, Kris, Lyra, Lisia, Typhlosion, and Wani-Wani. "I did tell you I'd make it happen, but not today." Courtney made contact with the rest of her squad. "Courtney to grunts, I have the Red Orb. Meet me at the helicopter, and bring the Blue Orb to me."
"Yes, Commander Courtney," a female Team Magma said from her end.
Meanwhile, Sora, Kairi, Phoebe, Pikachu, Angel, Xipak, Celeste, Dusclops, and Dusknoir ran as the Team Aqua grunts were catching up with them, but Pikachu and Xipak fired a double Thunderbolt, shocking the Team Aqua grunts and their Pokémon. Just then, a Flamethrower from a Houndoom cuts their retreat, making them stop. The Team Magma grunts sees the Blue Orb in Kairi's arms.
"Okay, hand over that Blue Orb, nice and easy!" One of the male Team Magma grunts demaded.
"Why don't you come over here and get it?" Kairi dared the Team Magma grunts.
"Okay, that's what we'll do then," one of the female Team Magma grunts said.
"I don't think so! Ice Beam!" Matt sordered as Walrein fired an Ice Beam, freezing the Team Magma grunts. He stepped forward. "As my old man always said to me when I was a kid, if you want the job done right, do it yourself. Look, I'm not gonna ask you nicely! Hand over the Blue Orb or I'm gonna take it from you by force!"
"You're gonna have to take it by force, Matt," Sora said.
"If that's what you want! Walrein! Blizzard!" Matt ordered. Walrein fired a Blizzard right at them.
"Dusclops! Use Night Shade to block it!" Sora ordered. Dusclops uses Night Shade to block Walrein's Blizzard. The Ice Break Pokémon then stopped firing Blizzard.
"You're really pushing my buttons!" Matt growled.
"We have a habit of doing that to crooks like you," Sora said.
"Okay, I'll take it by force then!" Matt said rushing over towards Kairi, but she tosses over to Sora.
"Look what I got!" Sora taunted, holding the Blue Orb.
"Come here, you!" Matt roared as he ran after him, so Sora started to run for it. The Team Aqua grunts got up and groaned as Sora is running for it. He stopped in his tracks when he saw the grunts. Matt is running after him. "Get him!" The Team Aqua grunts were about tackle Sora to the ground when he jumped high over the grunts.
"Did he just jump high?!" The first female Team Aqua asked.
"How did he do that?" The second female Team Aqua grunt asked.
"I don't know, but he can't be human!" The second male Team Aqua grunt said.
"I don't care if he's a Spoink, get the orb!" Matt ordered. The Team Aqua grunts obliged with their squad leader and went after him.
Sora kept on running as Team Magma and Team Aqua were trying to tackle him like it was a football game.
"Missed me! Oh, come on, you gotta do much better than that! I've seen Slugma that move faster than you guys can!" Sora said. Just then, several Golbat came and fired an Air Cutter at Sora, making him roll. "That was close." He was about to run again when a Tentacruel's tentacle got in front of Sora's feet, making him trip. "Whoa!" He tosses the Blue Orb in the air and Matt catches it in his hands.
"Got it!" Matt said.
"Aw, man," Sora groaned.
"It looks like the battle's ours, kid. And the war will be over," Matt said, taking out a smoke bomb and threw it on the ground. Sora coughed as he covered his mouth, preventing himself from breathing in the smoke. The smoke cleared as Kairi, Phoebe, Pikachu, Angel, Xipak, Celeste, Dusclops, and Dusknoir have arrived.
"Sora, are you okay?" Kairi asked.
"Yeah, but I lost the Blue Orb," Sora said.
"Don't beat yourself up over it, Sora. I know you did your best," Phoebe said.
"Well, I hope Ethan and the others still have the Red Orb," Sora said.
Back with Ethan, Kris, Lyra, Lisia, and Marill, they stood up and found that Courtney and the Mightyena were gone. And they knew Courtney has taken the Red Orb with her.
"Oh, great. She's gone," Ethan groaned.
"That means they have what they need to get to Groudon," Lyra said.
"Marill," Marill said.
"And that's just the bad news, but I think the good news is they don't know where Groudon is located," Lisia said.
"I hope you're right, Lisia," Lyra said.
Team Aqua have boarded their helicopter to report to Archie.
"I trust that your mission was successful, Matt," Archie said.
"Affirmative, Archie. The Blue Orb is ours, and we're closer than ever to awaken Kyogre," Matt said.
"Excellent work, Matt. I knew I could trust you for this mission. It's a shame that Shelly couldn't accompany you for it," Archie said.
"Well, she'll be glad I did a good job at filling in her shoes. We did hit a a few snags, and one of them being Team Magma showing up on Mount Pyre, and Phoebe of the Elite Four and those kids getting in the way," Matt said.
"Do you have the Red Orb?" Archie asked.
"No, sir. They already have it and they're probably looking for Groudon as we speak," Matt said.
"Then we will have to find Kyogre and the Cave of Origin before Team Magma finds Groudon. Time is against us," Archie said.
"I agree, sir. We'll search the entire ocean if we have to," Matt said.
"I know we will," Archie said.
Meanwhile, Courtney makes contact with Maxie.
"May I presume that your mission was accomplished, Courtney? Do you have the Red Orb in your possession?" Maxie asked.
"Yes, Maxie. The Red Orb is ours, and we're closer than ever to awaken Groudon from its slumber," Courtney said.
"Good. Now we only need to locate Groudon and awaken it and make the world into one giant piece of land and we will rule it," Maxie said.
"Yes, sir. But the bad news is Team Aqua has the Blue Orb, and they're planning on using it to awaken Kyogre. What's more, Phoebe of the Elite Four and some kids have attempted to stop us," Courtney said.
"The Elite Four cannot stop us. And neither will Team Aqua. We must make haste to find Groudon at once," Maxie said.
"Yes, sir," Courtney said.
Back on Mount Pyre, Ethan, Kris, Lyra, Lisia, and Marill met up with their friends, telling each other that they lost the Orbs.
"Oh, this is great. Team Magma has the Red Orb and Team Aqua has the Blue Orb. I know the question to ask, but I'm not going to ask it because it can," Sora groaned.
"Pikachu," Pikachu said.
"Pikachu," Xipak said.
"Yeah, you can say that again, brother," Ethan said.
"Now that they have the orbs, the world is in danger," Lisia said.
"And they'll find Groudon and Kyogre and probably soon," Kairi said.
"Hey, come on, there's no need to be all gloomy. And we shouldn't give up hope. We lost the battle, but we won't lose the war. We brought down Team Rocket, and we can bring them down, too," Kris said.
"You know, Kris is right. We did take down Team Rocket. Me, you guys, Riku, Ash, and Leaf. We did it because we worked together, and they'd still be stealing Pokémon if we haven't put an end to them," Sora said.
"That's the spirit! Never give up hope!" Phoebe said with a smile. "You all make quite a team. And together, there's nothing that can stop you."
"Yeah, you're right, Phoebe. And thanks for that compliment," Sora said.
"And you don't have to worry about Team Magma and Team Aqua for right now, because I'll make contact with the rest of the Elite Four and fill them in. Besides, you have a Contest to participate in, Kairi," Phoebe said.
"And I'm going to need some more practice," Kairi said.
With that said, Phoebe took her leave of the group and wished Sora and Kairi in their goals. Sora made contact with Riku on his Rotom Phone. He waited for Riku to pick up.
Ahead in Lilycove City, Riku, Naminé, Eevee, and Azurill have arrived to the Pokémon Center when his Rotom Phone was ringing.
"Better get that, Naminé. It's Sora," Riku said. He answered it. "Hey, Sora."
"Riku, we got a problem," Sora said.
"What kind of problem? Heartless? Nobodies? Unversed?" Riku asked.
"Actually, it's Team Magma and Team Aqua. We just had a run-in with them and they took off with the Red and Blue Orbs," Sora said.
"That's not good," Naminé said.
"No, it's not," Riku agreed. "Okay, where are you?"
"We're on Mount Pyre, just outside of Lilycove City. Ethan, Kris, and Lyra are with us, too. We were on our way there just so Kairi could train for the Contest," Sora said. "Where are you?"
"Naminé and I are in the Pokémon Center in Lilycove City. We can meet up with you when you get here," Riku said.
"Awesome. We'll see you when get to the Pokémon Center," Sora said, breaking contact. Sora makes contact with Ash's Rotom Phone and filled him in on the situation with their latest run-in with Team Magma and Team Aqua. Soon after that, he contacted Brendan and then Rei, telling them about what happened. They knew it was a good thing.
After a little while after training, Sora, Kairi, Ethan, Kris, Lyra, Lisia, Pikachu, Angel, Xipak, Celeste, and Marill climbed down Mount Pyre and started to make their way down to Lilycove City.
As Kairi is preparing for the Contest, but we can't help but worry over Team Magma and Team Aqua, because we know how nasty it'll get, but will Sora and his friends stop these two evil organizations before they find what they're looking for, or will it be the end of the world? Well, stick around if you want to find out.
