Thursday, December 30th.

As the sedatives wore off, I sat up slowly, blinking away the remnants of drowsiness. I looked over at the woman, Reneé, my mind supplied to me, clutching at my hospital gown, a pang of heartbreak rushing through me for Reneé and Charlie, and for the future that their Bella was supposed to have.

Before I could dwell on it for too long, a soft knock on the door interrupted my thoughts. The door creaked open revealing a middle-aged woman in a white coat, she smiled at her and entered the room.

"Hello Isabella, my name is Dr. Holger, can you tell me what you remember from these last few days?" She questioned me in a soft voice.

"I'm not really sure what happened but all I remember is waking up on the bathroom floor of her house with my head bleeding and then passing out when she helped me up to bring me here." I say gesturing towards Reneé and putting on a confused expression, "Other than that I can remember little bits of my childhood but I can't recall anything else."

I frowned, forcing tears to my eyes while looking at her, "I only know my name because she kept calling me Bella and I looked at that chart at the end of the bed when I woke up."

Dr. Holger gives me a reassuring smile, "Don't worry Isabella, we're going to do our best to figure out why you can't remember anything and see if we can find out what caused it. Sometimes memory loss just happens and there's no explanation for it."

I give her a timid smile and nod my head, "Okay. I'll do whatever it takes."

She smiles and gives me a slight nod. "Let's start with what has happened since you arrived. You were brought in with a head injury and according to your medical history this isn't unusual for you, so we didn't give you stitches but we did have to administer some surgical glue. As I explained to your mother earlier, head wounds are the worst for bleeding so there was a lot of blood but the injury wasn't serious."

"So I'm okay? Other than the whole can't remember anything problem?" I question, tilting my head to the side. She gives a slight laugh and nods her head.

"Yes Isabella, that sounds right. I'll leave you to rest for a bit and when your mother wakes up we'll discuss treatments and what she can do to try to help you remember." She pats my leg as she stands up.

I give her a shy smile, "Thank you. "

She leaves the room and I lay back down and gather my bearings, I have 2 choices apparent to me, either continue on with this amnesia thing and start showing my personality or try to masquerade as Bella herself. I let out a groan and fling my arm over my eyes, pulling on my I.V. line and letting out a hiss at the pulling. Dropping my arm and wiggling back into a sitting position I look around for a clock and see one on the opposite side of the wall.

4:45 pm

I give out a huff and look over at Reneé sleeping on the most uncomfortable-looking chair, "Hey." I whisper trying to wake her up gently, "Re- Mom, hey."

I raise my voice lightly, "Mom! Hey, Mom!" She jerks up and wildly looks around the room.

She smooths a hand down her hair, "Bella? What's wrong honey? Are you okay?"

I give her a shy smile and wriggle a bit, "You missed the doctor coming in, she seems very nice." She lets out a sigh of relief that it wasn't anything serious, I continue, "I'm also kinda hungry and I'm busting to use the bathroom."

She gets up and helps me unclip from everything and helps me walk to the bathroom, "I'm going to run and see what I can find to eat, I'll be right back Bella." She gives me a kiss on the head and walks out, giving me my privacy.

I look at myself in the mirror, my resolve hardening, "Okay," I tell myself, "I can do this." I smile at myself, "Hi. My name is Isabella Swan."

I repeat that to myself a few more times.

I hope I can keep this up.

Friday, December 31st.

After being discharged and getting my treatment plan from Dr. Holger, Reneé wheels me out to the front of the car where a car is waiting, a man steps out of the driver's seat and rushes to meet us. I give Reneé a look of confusion and she looks at the man, "Bella, this is Phil. He's your stepfather. We're got married on Christmas. Remind me to show you the pictures when we get home."

I give her a nod as he reaches us and gives her a quick kiss, "Hey Bella, you gave us a scare. I hope you're feeling better. I'm Phil Dweyer."

Smiling at him I stick my hand out, "Hi Phil, it's nice to meet you. I'm sorry that I don't remember you but I look forward to getting to know you again."

He shakes my hand and chuckles, motioning us to the car, "Let's get out of here and get you settled."

Another day down I think to myself as they help me into the car, Let's hope they don't figure out I'm basically a body snatcher.

Sorry that it's taken this long to post a chapter. Life's been busy.

Hope you like it :)

Edit: Reading back through for some reason I had the doctor wish her a happy birthday when I wrote the chapter, but that was before I put the timeline in, my bad. It's fixed now.
