Introductions
Jim Ellison looked around conference room two and decided introductions were in order. "OK clearly we're all operating on instinct and genetic memory; is that right, Chief?" Jim turned to his Guide.
Blair nodded. "Genetic memory is, in theory, memory literally written into our DNA. If being a Sentinel or a Guide is a genetic trait, everyone identifying us as an Alpha Prime pair and us identifying them as Pride would be a form of genetic memory."
Jim nodded as did several others in the room. "I am Alpha Prime Sentinel Jim Ellison, former captain in the US Army Rangers and currently a detective in the Major Crimes Unit of Cascade PD. And this," he continued, placing his left hand on Blair's right shoulder, "is my Alpha Prime Guide and Shaman, Dr. Blair Sandburg, former faculty member of this esteemed institution and currently a consultant for the police department. I think we should start with Blair's Heart Brothers and go from there," Jim concluded, looking over at the two Guides and one Sentinel who had greeted them moments before. The other Sentinel gestured to the Guides who had a brief silent conversation before the younger of the two turned to his Sentinel and nodded.
Jack O'Neill took a single step forward. "Sentinel Jack O'Neill, General US Air Force, commanding officer of the Deep Space Telemetry Network installation in Colorado." He held a hand out to his Guide. "This is my Guide, Dr. Daniel Jackson, archeologist, linguist and one of Guide Sandburg's Heart Brothers." The general looked to his left, indicating the younger man with windswept hair take over.
"Sentinel John Sheppard, Colonel USAF, C.O. of a separate installation of the DSTN." He clapped a hand on the second Guide's shoulder. "My Guide and Chief Science Officer, Dr. Rodney McKay, astrophysicist, engineer, and another of Guide Sandburg's Heart Brothers." Rodney glanced over to the Sentinel of their Heart Brotherhood.
Flashing a smile worthy of the red carpet, he began, "Sentinel Tony DiNozzo, NCIS special agent and the eldest of the Heart Brothers." Turning slightly, Tony flung an arm around the shoulders of a slightly thinner man. "This is my Guide, Tim McGee, also an NCIS special agent. We're currently stationed at NCIS headquarters in D.C." McGee blushed slightly and looked proud to be claimed by the other man.
One of the two older men in Tony's group stepped forward, "Sentinel Leroy Jethro Gibbs, former Gunnery Sergeant United States Marine Corps, current special agent NCIS. I lead the team DiNozzo and McGee are on." He waved the other man forward. "This is my Guide, Dr. Donald 'Ducky' Mallard. He's also our M.E." Gibbs and Ducky stepped back, indicating the young ladies had the floor.
The more serious of the two spoke first, "Sentinel Ziva David, Mossad liaison to NCIS, Washington D.C. This," here Ziva took the hand of the hyper Goth girl, "is my Guide, Abby Sciuto, one of our forensic technicians." "Hi everybody!" Abby chirped excitedly. As they stepped back she added, "Who's next?"
A tall dark haired man and an attractive brunette woman stepped forward followed by a young adult male and two younger children. "Sentinel Seeley Booth, former Sergeant Major Army Rangers, current FBI agent and liaison to the Jeffersonian. This is my wife and Guide, Dr. Temperance Brennan, a forensic anthropologist with the Jeffersonian. And these are our children," he said, indicating the eldest should speak.
"Newly online Sentinel Parker Booth," the young man stated firmly. "I am currently un-bonded but I suspect I have found my Guide. My half-siblings, Christine and Hank, have yet to present as either Sentinel or Guide," he concluded as Booth drew his family back. Temperance embraced her stepson, murmuring reassurances of love and acceptance regardless of who his Guide was.
A well tanned man with a military cut was the next to step up. "Sentinel G. Callen, former CIA, DEA, and FBI, current NCIS special agent in charge of OSP Los Angeles and according to DiNozzo NCIS's version of Itami Yoji, and while I admit the man has mad military skills, i am neither lazy nor an otaku." This statement was met by a smattering of giggles and some momentary confusion until those in the know explained the anime reference to those who didn't. G smirked and continued, "And before anyone asks, G is short for Grisha; my partner and Guide, Sam Hanna, former Senior Chief Petty Officer US Navy SEALs, current senior field agent NCIS," Callen indicated the black man at his side then nodded to the curly haired lady a step behind him.
A mature looking woman with dwarfism spoke next. "Sentinel Matilda Webber, former CIA current director of operations for Phoenix Foundation. I prefer to be called Matty and have no Guide at present but believe I have found one," she concluded glancing at an older black gentleman with a different group. "Jack, you're up."
The now identified Jack gave an easy smile before speaking. "Sentinel Jack Dalton, former Delta Force and currently the muscle protecting Phoenix Foundation's brains, my Guide and partner Angus MacGyver," the soldier stated, holding a hand out to indicate the dirty blond beside him.
A small smile and, "Call me Mac, I'm a former EOD tech with the Army and now I help come up with unique solutions to complicated issues using the most ordinary and pedestrian things available. Riley, it's your turn."
Riley turned out to be the youngest of three curly haired women, one of the other two being Kensi. "Sentinel Riley Davis, former hacker and current cyber specialist with Phoenix. This handsome man," gesturing to her dark skinned companion, "is my Guide, Wilt Bozer, he's Mac's Heart Brother and damn good at developing prosthetics for undercover agents and FX people." Wilt blushed, a quiet, adoring "Sentinel mine" to Riley the only addition to his introduction.
The third female with long curly hair was the next to speak. "Sentinel Myka Bering, Secret Service currently assigned to a fringe installation in South Dakota. My Guide and partner, Pete Lattimer, also Secret Service. I have an eidetic memory and he gets 'vibes'." The scruffy man-child at her shoulder simply smiled and then nodded to the redhead to their left.
"Oh my turn I guess. I'm Sentinel Claudia Donovan, techno-wiz extraordinaire and cyber security for these guys," she said, jerking her thumb at Myka and Pete before slinging an arm around the shoulders of a nervous bespectacled man. "This is my Guide and the current head of Global Dynamics, Dr. Douglas Fargo."
"Hello everyone, um, you can call me Doug or Fargo whatever works for you. Um, keep me away from anything overly sensitive. I have a tendency to push the wrong button at the wrong time or somehow make a delicate situation worse. I'll let my people talk now," Doug cut his own rant short frantically waving a gorgeous Latina forward.
"Nice, Fargo," she chuckled before assuming an at ease stance. "Sentinel Jo Lupo, former US Army Ranger, former deputy sheriff of Eureka and current head of security for GD. Jo is short for Josefina and anyone who calls me that without a damn good reason will be either shot or tased depending on my mood." The man with softly spiked hair spoke up, "She is not kidding. I'm her Guide, Dr. Zane Donovan, not related to Claudia that we know of, and I'm a scientist at GD," he turned to black gentleman from before, "Henry?"
Henry chuckled before addressing the room, "I'm Dr. Henry Deacon, un-bonded Guide and town mechanic for Eureka." As he stepped back to his corner Rodney McKay spoke up, "Dr. Henry Deacon, the space shuttle engineer?" At Henry's nod of acknowledgement, Rodney hit his Sentinel with puppy dog eyes on full blast. "I'll see what I can do," John acquiesced with a look of fond annoyance. Jack O'Neill rolled his eyes, knowing he'd have responded in kind if it had been Daniel looking at him like that.
The man in a sheriff's uniform cleared his throat. "I guess that just leaves us then," he said. "Sentinel Jack Carter, former US Marshall and current sheriff of Eureka. This lovely lady," gesturing to the mixed race beauty at his side, "is my Guide and wife, Dr. Allison Blake, former DOD liaison to GD, former head of GD, and currently head doctor of GD. These are our children," Carter finished indicating the last people in the room.
A blonde in her late teens took over. "Sentinel Zoe Carter and this," taking the hand of a shy boy with short curly hair, "is my Guide, Lucas. I received early admissions to Harvard in their pre-med program and Lucas was accepted early to MIT." Zoe then turned her head to the young black man on the other side of her Guide. He smiled, "Guide Kevin Blake, newly online and un-bonded for now. Hopefully my Sentinel won't take his sweet time." The last sentence was accompanied by a pointed look at Parker Booth causing the other to blush furiously. Kevin then knelt next to the little girl clinging to their mother's hand. "And this is my sister, Jenna Stark. She has yet to present any Sentinel or Guide traits."
"Um, quick question, just confirming a theory. What exactly do you mean when you say you're Heart Brothers or I'm guessing any other Heart familial title?" Claudia asked. Tony laughed and replied, "That's a Blair-ism. He said that everyone essentially has two families: the one you're born into, family by blood and the one you choose, family of the Heart. At some point we just started to call each other brother and it just developed into Heart Brother." "Thought so, thanks."
