I was at school. It was a pretty normal day except for the fact that we had 8th graders being given a tour of the school. You know I wished that they had given me a tour even though I had a lot of things mostly figured out. I just wished that they hadn't left to fend for myself. I also wondered why they were doing it now. Were the kids going to remember something that they did several months ago? It probably would make more sense to do during the summer just before school started, but I was not a teacher.
I saw Hawk holding a kid against the wall just outside the bathroom.
"What's going on here?" I asked.
"I was just stopping this kid from doing something that he might regret." Hawk explained. "And I was giving him some advice to get out of Cobra Kai."
"We should let him make his own decisions." I declared as I walked with Hawk to class. "Even if you were doing what you said you were, do you realize how bad that looked?"
"If I didn't stop him, he was going to attack Owen and Bert." He told me. "I'm not that person anymore."
Later at our session, I couldn't really call it a class since it wasn't paid for, Johnny was working with us on our offense. He was wearing pads so we wouldn't actually be hitting him. I could tell Johnny was distracted by the work that Mr. LaRusso was doing with the others. Unfortunately, Demetri ending up attacking while he wasn't looking at hit him in the face. It wasn't particularly hard, but the contact was still made. All of us gasped when that happened.
"I'm not going to get in trouble for this, am I?" Demetri asked.
He ended up getting trouble. Johnny ended up tying him up and gagged with a cushion strapped to him. I felt kind of bad for him, but I was pretty sure that he wouldn't actually be harmed.
"So the easiest way to land a point is to aim for the torso." Johnny explained. Demetri was not going to like this but I was pretty sure that he would be fine.
While we were doing that, I couldn't help but notice that he again looked distracted. He was looking inside were Mr. LaRusso was meditating with the others. I walked over to him.
"Dad, are you jealous?" I questioned.
"No." He lied.
"He's not going to take your students away from you," I explained. "If you have any issues, you could just try talking to him about them."
Before he could respond to that, Chris ended up kicking Demetri in the groin. That wasn't good.
"My bad. I missed." He declared. At least he had the decency to end the lesson there. We started to walk out to the parking lot.
"Good job today. You're really showing a lot more toughness." Johnny remarked before he turned to Demetri. "Are you sure you're okay."
"Yeah, they're starting to return to their normal size." Demetri stated. A simple yes probably would have been good enough.
"Hey, Diaz, you hungry?" Johnny asked. "I'll make your favorite spicy Manwich with mayo."
"Actually I'm going to go with Mr. LaRusso. We're finishing my mom's car." Miguel answered.
"Okay well no problem." Johnny declared. He was one hundred percent jealous.
"You really need to talk to him." I declared before he took me home.
I really wished that I could convince him to do this. I wasn't sure if he thought it wasn't manly to talk about your feelings, but not doing anything about it wasn't going to help him either. It was only going to make it worse, but he seemed to be too stubborn to do anything about it. Bottling it up could also cause him so issues in his day-to-day life if he wasn't careful.
The other thing was that I was pretty sure that Miguel did not know that Johnny and Carmen were back together. I decided the best thing to do was talk to Sam about it because I felt that maybe she could give me some advice on what to say to him. The two of us were currently in my bedroom. I was wearing a white long-sleeved tee and a black skirt.
"So I'm pretty sure that my dad is jealous because of all of the time that Miguel is spending with your dad." I stated.
"Well the thing is your dad's always treated Miguel like a son…even more than his actual son." Sam admitted. I wondered if that was part of the reason that Robby seemed to hate him.
"Well I've tried talking to him about it." I stated. "He doesn't seem like he wants to do anything. There's also something else that I wanted to talk to you about. I told my mom that I'm a lesbian last week."
"How did she take it?" She questioned.
"She's supportive of it, but it is why we can't have the door closed." I explained. "Have you thought about telling your parents at all?"
"I don't really know how to do that?" She admitted.
"Well don't you have a friend who's bisexual?" I questioned. I actually hadn't met her female friends. That was probably something that I needed to do. The only people that I really knew at school were the ones that I was doing karate with. "You could ask her."
"Well I can't do it right now." She replied. "I'm going to party for this girl that I used to babysit. Do you wanna come by any chance?"
"Where is it?" I questioned.
"It's at this kiddie place. Please come because I kind of don't want to go." She responded. I didn't know we were at the asking each other to do favors for each other stage of our relationship yet.
Some we ended up going to place where they were apparently having a mermaid-themed party.
"Wow." I commented as I looked around at all of little girls and bright walls.
"Now you can see why I didn't want to come." She replied.
"Well at least you're here with me." I told her as I rubbed her back a little.
"Oh my god. That's Tory." Sam commented as she looked at one of the mermaids. "This is sweet."
"That's the girl who attacked you at school?" I asked.
"Yeah." Sam declared with a smile. I had a bad feeling about what she was planning. I wouldn't be surprised if she did something that she was going to regret. The problem was I didn't know what she was planning on doing, so I might not be able to stop her.
"So I have an idea. Do you think that maybe I could talk to my mom about trying to talk to my dad." I asked. I was mostly trying to get her mind off of whatever she was planning. Maybe I could successfully distract her.
"Wouldn't it be better if you told him yourself?" She inquired. What did she think that I was talking about?
"What do you think that I'm talking about?" I asked her. It would probably be better than just trying to figure it out in my head.
"About coming out to him?" She asked. That was probably something that I needed to try to do, but it definitely wasn't what I meant.
"I meant about how he's jealous about Miguel spending time with your dad," I answered with a bit of a blush. "I think if anyone might be able to convince him to do anything, it would be her."
"Maybe you should just try to let him deal with it on his own." She offered, "I feel that if you try to meddle, you might only end up making things worse. Our dads are in a good place right now, but they haven't always been like that."
She probably had a point there. I just wanted to help him though. I didn't want to make things worse. It also didn't help that I couldn't talk to the person who knew my dad the best because he was part of the problem. Actually, talking to Miguel about it might not be a terrible idea, but I was kind of afraid that I might accidentally reveal the fact that Johnny and his mom were dating. Additionally, I didn't have a way to contact Miguel about it either.
I also noticed that what I was saying didn't seem to distract Sam from whatever she was planning. She went over to where Tory was with some of the kids. I knew that it would not end well. Tory was telling a story about being rescued by a prince. It seemed like she didn't want people to know that she was a children's entertainer. I didn't see what was so bad about being a children's entertainer, unless she was afraid of children or something. Sam looked like she wanted to use the information as blackmail or something.
"Oh was that the prince you stole from another princess?" Sam asked. Was more to them than she had told me?
"The other princess wasn't dating that prince anymore." Tory replied before she went back to her story. She seemed like she was pretty good at getting the kids to pay attention to her. I also didn't know why Sam felt like she needed to harass her at work. Sam kept egging her on at that point that I felt the need to drag her away. I could not stand to watch anymore.
"What the fuck are you doing?" I asked her.
"That girl attacked me at school." Sam reminded me. "I still have nightmares about it."
"So what are you trying to get her fired or something?" I challenged. "Do you really need to ruin her life in order to make yourself feel better? I thought you were better than that."
"Better than what? I didn't start this fight with her." She replied.
"You know what? Do whatever you want, but how do you think that this is going to end? When do you think this is going to end? Are you just going to be enemies for the rest of your lives?" I challenged before I went home. I was glad that I had driven my own car there.
I then went home where I found by my mom.
"What's wrong?" She asked.
"I got in a fight with my girlfriend." I explained. Technically, Sam and I hadn't used that term for each other but I was pretty sure that was what we were.
"I'm not exactly the best person to talk about this. I thought you would have been talking to me about boy problems." She admitted. "But what was the fight about?"
"There's this other girl…" I started.
"Is she cheating on you?" She interrupted.
"Mom! Can you let me talk?" I asked with a blush. I was pretty sure that there was nothing romantic between the two of them. "Now as I was saying, there's this other girl who she has this sort of rivalry with and she just happened to be working at the place the party was at as an entertainer and Sam was trying to start a fight with her or something."
"And why do the two of them have a rivalry?" Mom questioned.
"It's something because she attacked Sam at school. There was a big karate brawl there at the start of the year." I explained.
"I am starting to really regret letting you come here." She commented. "But you should at least talk to her about it later. I know that I may not have set the best example since I left your father, but maybe you can learn from my mistake."
She was probably right that I needed to talk to Sam about it, but it probably wasn't something that I could call her about right now because we needed a little bit of time to be mad at each other. Maybe I could talk to her later.
Suddenly, I got a call from Johnny.
"Hello?" I answered.
"Hey, can you come over for dinner tonight?" He asked me.
"I need to ask my mom first." I stated. I knew then moved the phone away from my ear. "It's Johnny. He wants me to come over for dinner."
"You should go." Mom declared. "I do really like that the two of you are spending time together."
"Do you wanna come?" I asked. I then put the phone back to my ear. "Is it okay if my mom comes?"
"Oh, yeah, Ali's always welcome here." He declared.
The two of us then went to his apartment.
"So it's a little small but it has a lot of heart." I declared.
"You know it's just kind of funny. It's like he turned into Daniel and Daniel turned into him." She stated.
"Don't tell him that. He's a little jealous about Miguel spending time with Mr. LaRusso right now." I explained.
Dinner consisted of sloppy joes, fries, chips and soda. It wasn't exactly fine dining, but it still be good. I hoped Mom wouldn't mind.
"You know even though the food is kind of simple, you're actually a pretty good cook." Mom declared. "If I had known this in the 80s, I never would have left you."
He chuckled a little at that.
"So did you talk to Miguel at all?" I asked.
"I tried. This dinner was supposed to be for him." He remarked.
"So Miguel is the kid whose mom you're dating?" Mom inquired. He looked at me. He hadn't told me that I wasn't supposed to tell anyone. He just told me not to tell Miguel. I had only told Sam and my mom.
"He's kind of my like my brother than my actual brother." I told her.
"Have you talked to your brother at all?" Mom asked me.
"Once. He didn't really want anything to do with me." I answered.
"I've tried with him. He doesn't want anything to do with me." Johnny declared. I decided to text Sam after dinner to see how she was and if we could talk. Instead, she invited me to the drive-in. Well I supposed it was easier to talk there instead of the regular movie theater. They were playing this old martial arts movie.
I supposed it was kind of funny, even though I wasn't sure if it that was the intent of the movie. I was pretty sure that there was no competition that would sanction hitting someone in the groin. I also wondered if Demetri was here and hoped that he didn't see that part.
At that point, I looked outside and saw Hawk was hassling that kid from the tour again, This was not going to end well. It got worse when Robby and then Tory and a bunch of others came out. I had a feeling that a fight was about to break out. I would have to try to make sure that no one got hurt.
"There's a traitor here alright and he's going to get what he deserves." Tory declared.
"Come on guys, we don't need to do this." I tried to mediate. I was pretty sure that it wouldn't work.
"Hey guys, can you believe that they have Mr. Pibb and Dr. Pepper?" Demetri interrupted. Everyone looked at him. "Man, not another rumble."
"What's wrong LaRusso, you gonna hide before your little girlfriend?" Tory taunted. That wasn't the insult that she thought it was.
"Guys stop. We can't do this. We'll beat them on the mat." Miguel declared.
"Oh really. You remember what happened the last time we fought, right?" Robby replied. I seriously hoped that something like that wouldn't happen again.
"Okay. Meet us at the baseball diamond in thirty minutes." Miguel ordered. He then looked at Tory. "And no weapons."
"I won't need them." Tory boasted.
"I did not agree to big fight tonight." I remarked. I was pretty sure my mom would kill me if I came home injured. "Sensei Haruko said that it's best to avoid conflict and not start fights with people."
"We're not." Miguel promised.
We then went to the baseball field and when the Cobra Kais got there, Miguel turned the sprinklers on them.
"That was a genius move. We didn't have to throw a punch." Hawk declared.
"It's my favorite kind of victory." Demetri added. I felt that while it was kind of funny, it was not going to help. They were only going to be mad at us.
The following morning, we were preparing while we waited for Johnny and Mr. LaRusso to come out.
"Henceforth, Miguel Diaz shall be known as The Rainmaker." Demetri declared as we stretched.
"But if they hadn't fallen for it, we still would have beaten them." Sam boasted.
"That could have gone really bad." I declared. I was pretty sure that it still would because they would try to hit us back.
"What could have gone bad?" Johnny interrupted.
"We were about to get in a gnarly fight at the drive-in, Sensei, but Miguel saved the day." Hawk explained.
"Oh yeah, how did you do that?" Johnny asked.
"I told them to come to the baseball diamond right as the sprinklers were going off." Miguel declared. Johnny did not look happy. He probably realized the same thing that I did.
"Congratulations, you just poked the bear." Johnny stated. "Do you think they're just going to take it?"
"From what I heard, it sounds like Miguel practiced restraint and found a way to get out of a bad situation." Mr. LaRusso declared. Making things worse wasn't what I called getting out of a bad situation. "I'm proud of you. You've taken Miyagi-Do teachings to heart."
"Okay, LaRusso, we need to have a little talk." Johnny announced. I had a feeling that was not going to end well either. Hopefully, they would just have a civil conversation.
However, before anything could happen, Kreese and tall guy with hair in a ponytail showed up. Mr. LaRusso looked terrified to see him.
"Gentlemen. It seems we have a few things to discuss." The man declared. Okay I didn't know who this guy was, but he gave me the creeps.
So Jenny and Sam had their first fight and we got to see more of her and her mom together. Not to mention we got to see Silver for the first time. Please don't forget to review.
