At the Zhau house that afternoon in Royal Woods; Stella was on the video call with Lincoln seeing how they were both getting on at their new schools. "So you actually knocked out Sibella; after trying to show off in front of Tanis?" laughed Stella as Lincoln had explained to Stella of the story from the previous day; changing it so that the ball had knocked into Sibella while she was resting by the tree instead of on the branch as a bat. With his friends being told about his classmates by name but leaving out details that would even hint of them being real monsters. Lincoln looked sheepish at her laughter and Stella then asked "I can't believe that she was cool and understood that it was an accident. Can you imagine that if that happened with one of your sisters?"
"Not something that I want to think about; especially if it was Lynn, Lola or Lori that I had hit..." Lincoln said and Stella understood that if that happened with them then their retaliation would not be pleasant for poor Lincoln. They talked some more with both glad to have this chance and they ended the call with a wave to eachother as Lincoln said "I will see you later Stella and don't worry; I am sure things will improve for all of you at the middle school soon!" Lincoln said optimistically and Stella sighed after the call ended.
She felt the feeling of missing Lincoln again and once again she was struggling to tell herself that it wasn't anything more than missing one of her best friends with him far away. She tried to imagine how she would feel if someone else in their friend group had gone to a boarding school and while she imagined them all being bummed out; they weren't anything to how she was feeling thinking about how Lincoln was the one who was far away.
Probably didn't help that she imagined what it would be like if they didn't have to deal with Zach's newest supposed evidence of his claims.
Not only did it seem like Lincoln was the main glue holding this group together and guide them towards their adventures and solving problems; but Lincoln was especially special to her.
"Could I actually be in love with Lincoln?" Stella asked herself out loud thinking about when the group each thought that she was in love with one of them when all she wanted was to hang out with them as their friend. Same was for Lincoln her first friend but could her feelings have changed as she got to know him?
She decided that she would try imagining them both kissing and then she felt her heart kissing; "I can't lie to myself: it took until Lincoln has gone away for me to realise that I am in love with him!" groaned Stella wondering what was she going to do. Should she tell their friends? How about his sisters; should she tell them?
She thought about that last idea and after some thought concluded that...
It would be the worst thing that she could possibly do at the moment.
She knew that they meant well towards their brother (most of the time anyway, the less said about the Luck incident the better) but Lincoln told her about what had happened when they thought that Ronnie Anne was bullying him because she was in love with them and how they kept reacting to their friendship. She didn't want to imagine whatever scheme they decide to go forward with (they would probably ignore her trying to tell them not to do it) or try to sabotage her friendship with Lincoln as a possible rival to Ronnie Anne.
Plus she realised that Lincoln had a school for girls; there was always the possibility that he would get together with a classmate before she could even see him again.
She was going to have to think about how she was going to deal with this truth that she admitted to herself...
Sibella happily almost skipped her way as she walked to Lincoln's room and knocked on the door; Lincoln answered it and said "oh Sibella; is there something that you want to talk about? I just got finished with a video call with one of my friends Stella back home." Lincoln allowed her to walk in as she got herself ready for the purpose of her going to see him.
"Lincoln; could I please enquire if you have a special someone back home? I can easily picture you having to keep lovestruck girls away with a stick." Sibella asked as Lincoln coughed with red on his cheeks.
"Not really; I have had a few crushed but nothing really worked out..." Lincoln answered and Sibella thought that it sounded like a shame but their loss, her gain so this was a plus for her.
"Well; are you seeking romance because I bet any girl would be lucky to be with such a fun cute boy such as yourself. How about a purple skinned vampire girl?" Sibella asked knowing full well how on the nose that she was being but she didn't want to leave any way for him to miss it and it looked like he was getting what she was saying.
"Sibella... Do you have a sister or cousin that you are trying to set me up with?" Lincoln asked with Sibella's face frozen.
"Wonderful; Sibella the daughter of Count Dracula himself has fallen for a human boy and he is dense." Sibella thought to herself with a sigh; "Forget that I said anything..." Sibella said confusing Lincoln but then she noticed a top hat and a magic set.
"Oh I have gotten into stage magic a bit a little before coming here; want to see a trick?" Lincoln asked and Sibella nodded with a smile having found these human magic acts amusing. Lincoln then showed the empty hat and then went into it but soon scared looking doves came out of the hat and soon there was Matches the dragon eagerly chasing after the doves as they flew out of the hat. "What; how did you find where I was keeping those... Trust me Matches; I don't think that they taste delicious..." Lincoln screamed as he chased after Matches and Sibella thought that it was best to run with him to help.
She could already tell that it wouldn't turn out well for poor Lincoln if he did catch Matches...
