Ultimate Power
Yami stared up at the explosion in shock. He refused to believe that Dane was gone, and yet the power of that explosion was so all-consuming that he doubted if any of the Magic Knight Captains could have survived even if prepared and at prime condition.
"Well, that takes care of them," the devil grinned, then dropped his eyes to glare at Licht and Lumiere.
And then, the pair were off. Their coordination was flawless, and their power was horrifying. For a moment, the devil could do nothing but struggle to avoid their strikes. But then, just as Lumiere impaled the devil with a Light Magic sword, the devil spoke, using the infernal language of the devils, and a trident formed from what seemed to be black sludge. And then, he thrust it at Lumiere. The strike took only an instant, but that instant was enough. With a thundering crash and a metallic shriek, the trident swept out to the side, Lumiere rocketing the other way with a deep gash in his shoulder, but otherwise unscathed. The gash wasn't even bleeding, instead appearing to be a chip in a statue. But remaining where Lumiere had been was Dane. He was clothed in a chestplate with shining, radiant, golden metal over his chest and abdomen with pitch black armor outlining his abs and around the chestplate, a pair of pauldrons matching Kali's for shape with black surrounding gold plating in the center, black pants with gold plating on the outer thighs and over his knees, golden shoes, black sleeves with gold plating over his arms' major muscle groups, black gloves with gold plating over the knuckles and the outsides of his fingers, a pitch black star adorning his chest which radiated both Light Magic and Dark Magic power, Raya's wings spreading down and out to the sides from the small of his back and Kali's spreading up and out from his shoulder blades. In his right hand was a long, Dark Magic katana and in his left was a shining Light Magic sword identical in shape to the Diamond Metal sword that had been destroyed in the collision between it and the meteor the devil had summoned.
"What is this?" the devil asked, his grin growing. "You've fused with your spirits? You're more powerful than I anticipated, but now that I have my own body and Grimoire, I am unstoppable!"
He pulled his spear back and thrust it forward again, only for Dane to smirk and vanish in a flash of light.
"Wanna bet!?" Asta snarled, his larger sword clashing with the devil's trident, Asta once again in his Anti-Magic form.
For a moment, the devil looked surprised, but then grinned widely again. "Now, get back!"
Asta rocketed backward, only for Dane to melt into existence from the shadows behind the devil and strike. As his twin blades tore across the devil's back, the devil exploded away from him, his trident spinning away. However, he flipped, ordering it to return to him, then began to flip and spin the trident as Dane exploded forward to assault him again, this time wielding an ever-changing string of different weapons, relying on Raya and Kali's expertise with weapons to make up for his own lack of training. The devil cackled and fended Dane off just as fluidly as Kali had defended herself from both Dane and Raya, but with the key difference of being unable to strike back at them.
"If this is all you can muster-" the devil began.
"Mana Zone, Spirit Magic, Starfall!" Dane intoned, his voice overlapped with Kali's.
In an instant, a multitude of enormous, pitch-black spheres had exploded into existence around the devil and shot inward from all sides, almost instantly forming a sphere around him. As they surged inward, Dane felt a massive, horrifyingly so, amount of power begin to build behind him, but ignored it in favor of watching the devil's trident flip and spin around him, ripping the masses of Dark Magic apart. However, no sooner had the last of the Dark Magic cleared from his vision did countless Light Magic swords stab into him from just outside the wave of Dark Magic spheres. Then, the devil swiped his trident again and smashed the swords, still grinning widely.
"Not bad!" the devil admitted. "But you can never defeat me! With my body and my Grimoire-"
"Oh just shut up!" Dane snapped, sending a Light Magic sword at the Grimoire, only for the devil to smash it.
Except, the devil's grin was gone, replaced by an expression of pure rage.
"At last, we elves get our vengeance!" Licht's voice thundered. "Ultimate Sword Magic, Demon-Dweller Sword, Conquering Eon!"
Then, as Dane appeared beside the others, noticing that Yami and Charlotte were missing now, as was the platform they'd been on, Licht slashed. An all-consuming light swallowed the devil, who shrieked in pain. And as the light faded, the blast had collapsed the floor of the chamber and left a gaping hole in the wall opposite Licht, exposing a massive void beyond and the edges of the hole still glowing red-hot.
"No way!" Asta shrieked.
"It's...over!" the girl with Lumiere muttered in shock.
"He's dead!" Patry breathed. "Well done!"
Except, it wasn't over. The devil's heart hovered before the void, still pulsating. And then, a mouth spread over it into the devil's grin.
"Heal me." The devil cackled as his body began to reform. "Weren't you listening? I told you it would be impossible to kill me!"
Dane narrowed his eyes as Asta's Anti-Magic power began to skyrocket as he pushed himself. However, Dane had no intention of allowing Asta alone to fight this battle. And when Asta took off, the battle began. Asta's blade, which seemed to have grown a bit, smashed one of the arms off of the devil's trident. The devil responded by summoning a trio of rifts which began to spew a flood of the violet sludge. And then, with another command in the devil's language, a horde of worm-like creatures burst from the sludge and lunged for Asta as he was still streaking uncontrolled through the air. However, before they could reach him, Dane appeared below Asta, slashing off a trio of the creatures with a Dark and Light Magic sword, both of them shaped like his and Raya's usual Light Magic Swords. More rushed to attack Asta, only for Lumiere to sweep him out of the way. And then Asta's Anti-Magic automatically targeted Lumiere, sending him exploding into the wall as Asta shrieked an apology.
Patry and Yuno attacked the purple sludge, only for it to absorb their magic. Patry tried again with his Demon Light Magic, and this time, it blasted apart sections of the sludge, though he lacked the control of it that he had over his ordinary Light Magic, resulting in paltry few projectiles and none particularly fast. Dane glanced from Patry to Asta, then to the Dark Magic Sword in his right hand.
"Time to shift tactics," Dane growled, his armor turning blindingly gold, except for on the arms, where it turned pitch black near his elbows, Raya's Light Magic sword being replaced by Kali's Dark Magic sword.
Then, he was off, moving with all of Raya's blinding speed as he spread destruction through the sludge and worm-like creatures. With every stroke of the swords, arcs of razor-sharp Dark Magic raced out, ripping through the sludge. Dane added Kali's Dark Magic variation of Pixie Dust, called Umbral Dust Storm. He added blasts of Kali's Umbral Ray. He absolutely tore at the sludge, doing his best to stem the tide. And he wasn't alone. Yuno eventually joined him wielding a long, narrow sword formed from all of their scattered mana condensed into a Wind Magic sword with a pair of wings as a cross guard, a two foot grip, and a halo of Wind Magic just below the guard. And then Asta had finally managed to reign his Anti-Magic in, a second horn sprouting on the right side of his head, this one standing straight up, and his sword elongated, growing thicker before the blade began to change. The outside remained the flat black of his Anti-Magic, but along the inside, roughly where the blade usually was, turned a dark grey, like a scale, with dark veins of Anti-Magic spreading outward from the hilt along the center and fanning out.
"Anti-Magic Demon-Slayer Sword, Black Divider!" Asta called out.
Dane looked up just as Yuno used a tornado to send Astra hurtling at the devil, allowing him to impale it through the torso. Except, even as the devil dropped his spear, Dane could sense that it wasn't over. Sure enough, mouths opened all over the darkness making up the devil's clothing and wings, shouting insults and threats at them all. And then, as the heart emerged from the darkness on the right side of the devil's chest, all of the mouths began to chant in the devil's language. Dane narrowed his eyes.
"It's time," Dane said, allowing both of his swords to fade as his armor returned to its previous appearance.
Then, he channeled both of their magic to his right hand together and a storm of Magic Power began to erupt from his palm. For a moment, the opposing magic elements fought viciously. Then, they combined, a single sword formed from pitch black light forming in his hand. The devil's head snapped around, but before he could focus his gaze on Dane, Dane was behind him. The blade tore across the demon's back, and all of the mouths covering its body began to shriek in pain. The demon spun, slamming a kick into Dane that sent him exploding into Asta, launching both away. Dane stopped himself, then rocketed forward again, just as the demon summoned his trident back to himself.
"And now the finale," the devil said calmly amongst the other mouths still shouting insults and threats at them.
"You think it's over?" Asta snorted. "You don't get to decide how this ends! You ready, Yuno? Let's go!"
"Of course I'm ready, idiot," Yuno smirked.
"Time to shut this guy up for good!" both declared.
"Then how about you stop talking and get in here!" Dane snapped, flashing around and around the devil, only for his Dark Light Magic sword to endlessly clash with the devil's trident.
And then, the devil launched itself backward, being replaced by a flood of the massive worm-like creatures as well as enormous, dark hands formed from the sludge.
"Hold still and let me kill you!" Dane snarled, flipping and spinning as he slaughtered everything the devil sent at him. "Spirit Magic, Swarming Shadows!"
This time, the massive, shadowy fists erupted from shadows that spread from Dane's own body, filling the space around him and decimating the massive swarm of attacks the devil had sent at him. Then, just as the last of the fists faded, Yuno and Asta passed, carving their way through still more as they closed in on the devil. However, Dane could see that Asta was reaching his limit, so instead, he appeared in front of Asta, beginning to carve Asta a path.
"I'll clear you a path, Asta, and prepare him for a strike on his heart!" Dane called back to him. "You focus on getting ready for one final attack!"
Suddenly, a shining, white light enveloped Yuno, then Dane. Dane frowned, glancing at his free hand as he slashed through a trio of worms.
"Someone's given me a shield?" Dane muttered. "No, not me. Raya."
"A long time ago, I was friends with Lumiere and Licht," Raya explained inside Dane's mind. "When Licht had his Grimoire, his Sword Magic, through which he created the three swords Asts can wield his Anti-Magic with, was powered by a Light Magic element."
"I see," Dane nodded, flipping and spinning as he shredded a trio of hands and four worms all at the same time.
More and more creatures exploded forward to attack them, only for Yuno and Dane to flash around and around, rapidly clearing Asta a path. Asta began to fall behind, but when Yuno noticed, he easily goaded him into keeping up. And then, just as Yuno and Dane used a massive, violent, showy series of attacks to clear a path to the devil, Asta rocketed around behind it. Then, as Dane turned to use Swarming Shadows to beat back a massive wave of the violet goo that was chasing them, Asta and Yuno moved to strike, only for Asta to slip out of his Anti-Magic form. A moment later, Yuno was blasted away by a blast of darkness. Dane finished beating back the sludge, then turned on the devil.
"Spirit Magic, Reverse Flash!" Dane, Kali, and Raya all roared, Dane extending his right hand as his sword vanished, his left hand gripping his right forearm to brace his arm as his Magic Power swelled rapidly.
A split second before their attack fired, Yami's strike arrived, an upgraded version of his Dimension Slash. The devil was split in half instantly, and a moment later, Dane's attack, a beam of Dark and Light Magic as wide as Dane was tall, erupted from his right palm. Blood sprayed from the devil's mouth and the wound that stretched the entire vertical length of his body. Then, Dane's blast struck and the devil shrieked in agony as bits of its body began to be blasted into ash. The devil's enlarged hands, which were holding Asta and Yuno, both released them before being dragged into the blast as the devil was sent hurtling backward.
"Sealing Recovery Magic," the girl that had arrived with Lumiere, who had spent the whole battle so far floating on a trident like a broom, called out, placing her hands to Asta's back, white light shining from them. "Heavenly Prison, Faint Omen!"
The light shone around him before fading, taking Asta's physical injuries with it.
"Asta!" the girl called out, pushing Aasta forward.
"Die!" the devil raged as Dane's spell faded, leaving his body mangled and charred, as much of it burned into ash as was left. "Perish! Disappear!"
"You first!" Yuno roared, sending a massive vortex of razor-sharp Wind Magic at the devil just as the devil fired a barrage of massive spikes of darkness at him.
As Yuno's spell blasted the blasts apart, the devil's remaining mouths all chanted rapidly, a flood of massive worms and hands flooding up at them from above.
"Spirit Magic, Umbral Starshower!" Dane roared.
A flood of pitch black motes of Dark and Light Magic began to appear around Dane and flood downward, erupting into a sea of massive explosions of Kali and Raya's combined Magic Elements. Dane grit his teeth as he felt himself beginning to grow dangerously close to slipping out of Spirit Dive. His mana was running dangerously low, and the devil's attacks showed no signs of slowing down, if anything growing only more and more violent. And then, it was over. In a single, massive strike, Asta's blade had torn through the devil's torso, splitting its heart in half. All at once, the devil's attacks from below ended, and less than a second later, Dane had exited Spirit Dive, Fei catching him, Raya, and Kali as they fell, none of the three having the power left to fly on their own.
"Impossible!" the devil shrieked. "This can't be! Inconceivable! It can't be! I won't have it!" Then, with one final shriek, his entire body disintegrated.
"Thanks for the catch, Fei," Dane sighed, resting a hand on Fei's head. "Good work."
Just then, the Shadow Palace began to shake violently as the purple sludge the devil had summoned before began to move, beginning to rage around like a sea in a storm.
"Shit!" Kali swore. "It's beginning to consume the Shadow Palace!"
"Dammit!" Dane growled, looking down at the bottom of the chamber. "The others are all still down there!"
"I think my body is reaching its limits!" Lumiere realized as cracks began to spread through his body.
"Licht, where are the others!?" Dane called out.
"They're all on their way!" Licht called back. "Except for the human dwarf hybrid who fought Lira."
"Lira?" Dane asked.
"He was reincarnated into the human with Paint Magic.," Licht explained.
"That's Rill," Dane nodded. "Which would make the person who fought him Char...Charmy's part Dwarf?"
"Focus!" Raya snapped.
"I am," Dane said, Dark Magic gathering over his body. "I've found them."
Then, just as Licht and Lumiere's spell faded, he pitched sideways, the shadows suddenly condensing and enveloping him, then lightening again, leaving nothing behind. A moment later, he reappeared from the shadows above Fei, dropping through with Charmy clinging to one side with an arm around her and Mimosa likewise held on the other side. He landed on Fei's back and Charmy swung around to sit in front of him, facing him as Dane held Mimosa between them sideways.
"What about the others!?" Asta shouted.
"That creep beat me to the punch with the others," Dane shrugged. "Except for Charmy who tripped but threw Rill to safety and Mimosa, who fell out of Nozel's mercury puddle."
"Threw him to safety!?" Asta demanded. "If he's still down there, he's not-"
Just then, one of Valtos's portals opened above Asta, dropping everyone missing through, except for Yami and Charlotte, who Dane hadn't been able to reach.
"Thank you for catching me," Mimosa smiled at Dane, her arms wrapped around Dane's shoulders.
"Of course," Dane smiled.
"Your timing was perfect," Charmy smiled, still in the form she'd taken while fighting Rill, and leaned forward past Mimosa, kissing Dane.
Mimosa blushed bright red, turning her head away, but didn't try to distance herself from Dane at all, or complain about Charmy's proximity, either. And as Charmy pulled away, Mimosa curled into Dane's side, resting her head on his shoulder. A moment later, Yami burst up from the sludge with Charlotte, as well as two extras. One was Gueldre Poizot, the traitorous former Purple Orca captain. The other Dane didn't know, who wore black clothes with a dark red cape.
"Captain!" Dane grinned. "Glad you made it!"
"Of course I made it!" Yami called back.
"I see you caught an escaped pig!" Dane called down to him as Fei flew down to catch the four of them.
"Wouldn't you know it, he just suddenly showed up!" Yami called back.
The four of them landed on Fei, Yami holding Kali to keep from falling off and Charlotte holding Yami while binding the other two with her vines. Then, finally, the door opened and they all headed through it, racing through the dark tunnel connecting the Shadow Palace to the outside world.
"We're probably going to hold a party to celebrate beating that devil," Dane said. "You're welcome to join us, Mimosa."
Mimosa lifted her head and nodded instantly, smiling widely. "I will."
Dane glanced over at Mereoleona, who had her arms crossed and a disappointed look on her face. "Mereo, why do you look so put out?"
"I missed the best fight!" Mereo snapped. "And it felt like you got another upgrade!"
"Courtesy of Kali," Dane said, gesturing back at her. "Raya's sister."
Kali huffed, looking away from them both.
"Looks like you're skilled at collecting girls," Mereo smirked. "We're gonna fight someday. I wanna see what you can do!"
Dane laughed. "As long as you promise not to kill us, it's a deal!"
Mereo laughed, nodding. Then, a few moments later, they exited in the air over Clover Castle, all but Dane's group on Nozel's mercury.
"Nozel, I'm gonna borrow this," Dane said, his right arm extending over to Nozel as a Diamond Metal tentacle and ripping the white shawl from around Nozel's shoulders.
"Why?" Nozel asked.
"Because Fana's topless," Dane said, using his Transmutation Magic to rearrange the shawl into a tank top with spaghetti straps, which he tossed to Fana.
She thanked him, hurriedly pulling it on.
"Spoilsport," Raya whispered, Mimosa blushing scarlet as Dane chuckled.
"Down girl," Dane smirked. "Save it for Vanessa and Charmy."
"We should probably deal with the elves on a rampage," Kali spoke up. "You know, before they finish leveling the city."
"Relax," Dane said. "Licht is here. He can just tell them all to chill out."
"William is still lying dormant within me," Patry spoke up. "With his World Tree Magic, we can gather mana and life force from people all over. To make that happen, we're going to need his Grimoire."
"Take it," Valtos said, rising from a portal with the Grimoire.
"And here I was thinking we'd need to fight our way to it," Dane said.
"Spoilsports," Kali grumbled, Raya laughing.
"This is the one, Valtos, thank you," Patry nodded.
"It doesn't matter who you are," Valtos said. "You're still the person that found me that day and saved my life."
"Hang on," Asta blinked. "Are you saying that..."
"Yes," Patry nodded. "Asta, use that weapon to destroy me for good."
"Sure that's what you want?" Asta asked, raising the sword he'd claimed from Licht.
Patry reached up, gripping the sword and pulling it to his chest. "I've already lived twice now. I have regrets, but no fear. After all that I did, I'm not sure this is enough to atone for it."
"Patry..." Rhya said in a trembling voice.
"I'll be the first one to leave, then," Patry smiled.
"Wait, all of you are going?" Dane asked. "But Fana isn't even possessing anyone. Take Vetto, that's fine, but Fana's not possessing anyone."
"Neither am I!" Vetto snapped.
Dane turned a cold, emotionless look on Vetto, as did both Raya and Kali, and Vetto swallowed hard, shrinking back slightly.
"Forgive me, Licht," Patry smiled back at him, everyone having ignored Dane and Vetto. "Please finish this."
"I will," Licht promised.
Patry nodded to Asta, and he began to banish Patry's soul from William's body. As William's appearance returned to normal, Dane stared at the scar taking up the upper half of his face.
"That scar is the result of a curse," Kali muttered to Dane. "You'll need me and Raya together to break the curse first."
Dane nodded.
"Patry," William muttered sadly, clutching at the robes he still wore.
After a moment, he opened his hand, his grimoire snapping open as a seed formed above his palm before sprouting and growing rapidly. As the roots spread outward rapidly, Licht set a hand on his shoulder, then raised his sword, which began to shine. Then, as Licht's powers rocketed higher and higher, dozens of beams of pure, white light burst from the blade, scattering into the city, and flashed down to strike each of the elves. Except, it didn't seem to be an attack.
"Combo Spell, Demon-Dweller Sword, Spirit Light Tree!" Licht and William both chanted as the roots finally formed a truly massive tree, the beams of light all connecting to the tree.
"Now Anti-Magic wielder!" Licht called out. "Use the Demon-Destroyer Sword!"
Asta nodded, then stabbed the sword into the tree. For a half a breath, nothing happened. Then, Anti-Magic spread through the tree rapidly, then cleared. It was like a pulse of darkness within the shining, green light of the tree, but the power of the blade followed the magic of the tree, and then the strands of light Licht had formed. All around the Clover Kingdom, Dane could sense the elves' possessions ending. He looked down, seeing ghostly silhouettes of the elves drifting up out of their host bodies and fading into glittering mana. He looked over to Rhya, Fana, and Vetto, only to realize that they were unaffected by Licht's magic, even when Licht himself was.
"I shoulda known," Rhya sighed. "Apparently the three of us won't be going with you. See, after we got reincarnated the second time, our souls became bound to these bodies. There's no way we can go back to our original forms."
"I see," Licht smiled. "That's a shame. After a journey filled with pain and hatred, it'd be nice if we could talk. But nothing to be done now. Perhaps there's a reason our destinies played out this way. Live on in this world, for all of our sakes."
"Goodbye," Vetto said softly.
"Take care," Fana smiled.
"That figures," Rhya sighed, rubbing the back of his head. "We missed each other again. But if this is what you want, then okay. I guess I'll live this life to the fullest, no matter how much of a pain it is."
"You sure you don't want to stick around, Licht?" Dane asked. "We could definitely use someone with your power. And you could actually live in peace this time."
"Perhaps you're right," Licht smiled. "But it's a bit too late for that." He sighed, turning to Lumiere. "I suppose I'd better be going, now. I wouldn't want to keep my dear Tetia waiting any longer."
"Right," Lumiere smiled, one of his eyes having disintegrated, leaving an empty socket.
"I'm happy we got to see a glimpse of the ideal future that we'd always hoped for," Licht smiled.
"Me too," Lumiere nodded.
"The elf that's in my body," Yuno spoke up, his own facial markings beginning to fade. "Is he your..."
Licht merely smiled kindly. "With you here, it felt like I got to fight alongside my son. Thank you, wielder of the Four-Leaf Grimoire. May good luck always follow you."
Asta held out his Grimoire. "This is yours, right? Tak it."
"Actually, the Five-Leaf Grimoire belongs to you now, Asta," Licht smiled. "Hold on tight to it. It will prove helpful on your journey." He began to leave the artificial body he was inhabiting, and waved a hand. In a flash of light, a perfect steel replica of the Diamond Metal that had been destroyed in the battle dropping into Dane's hand. "It's not that incredible metal you can create, but I suspect that will be easy enough for you to fix. And this sword is special in that you can stockpile mana into it in order to use it for a boost if you need it."
"Thank you," Dane smiled, shifting it into the same Diamond Metal sword with rubies and diamonds on the hilt as his last had been.
"Farewell," Licht smiled as the souls of the elves and William's massive tree began to fade. "And thank you, mages of the Clover Kingdom."
Just then, Rades's magic began to explode up from his Grimoire. For a moment, nothing happened. Then, Licht's now empty body convulsed, its eyes flying open as a surprised, pained grunt echoed from its mouth, its hands clenching in discomfort. Dane narrowed his eyes, readying his sword. And then, the body lowered his head, exposing the black sclera in his left eye.
"Patry," Dane identified him. "Welcome back. Again. What's the big idea, Rades?"
"Am I...reborn?" Patry asked. "No, reanimated."
"That body was only a duplicate that Sally created to look like your original one anyway," Rades explained. "I'm sure you'll feel right at home in it."
"Hey, what the heck are you doing?" Asta asked.
"Shut up, would you!?" Rades snapped. "This is...I, uh...Look I don't understand it either, alright!? Anyway, Licht, or Patry, or whoever...I'm not just gonna let you disappear and live happily ever after! No way!"
"Live happily ever after?" Dane snorted. "He was dying. Again."
"I won't ever forgive what you did!" Rades continued, ignoring Dane. "That's why...I want you to spend the rest of eternity thinking about all the humans you trampled on! Including me!"
Patry was left speechless, staring helplessly at Rades.
"Uh, hey, that might come back to bite you later," Asta warned.
"Quiet!" Rades snapped.
"Rades," Patry said calmly. "I feel like I should thank you, since you've given me the chance to atone."
"Shut your mouth!" Rades snapped. "I'll have your head if it's the last thing I do. And until that day, I want you to spend your life in constant fear! Let's go, Valtos."
Valtos bowed to Patry, then formed a portal for himself and Rades, who both sank into it without another word.
"Wooow," Rhya drawled. "So, after all that, you didn't even get to go back with Licht like you wanted. Ain't that just the way. It's only fair, though."
"Rhya," Patry began, only to begin to fall.
Before he could, William caught him.
"It's you," William smiled as Patry pulled back. "I never expected we'd see each other face-to-face."
"Neither did I," Patry admitted.
"My closest companion who shares my sin," William smiled sadly. "There was so much I wanted to tell you." he pushed Patry back so that Patry was standing upright again. "But first, this. He may not listen, but I owe someone an apology." He turned to Yami. "I know this is a selfish thing to ask you, but Yami, please take me to see Julius at once."
"Of course," Yami nodded, his expression pained.
"In the meantime, we should begin cleaning up," Dane decided as Raya and Kali both headed home, Raya kissing Dane before she left. "I can restore the city myself, but for safety reasons, we'll need everyone to be removed from the rubble first."
"If anyone's wounded, I can treat them," Mimosa said.
"So can the newest Black Bull," Dane said, jabbing a thumb at Fana.
"What?" Fana blinked in surprise.
"You trying to make a joke?" Yami growled. "It's my choice who joins."
"She has a different Phoenix Robe than I got from Mars," Dane shrugged. "I want it."
Yami sighed. "Can't you use Raya's by yourself now?"
"Raya's can't be used on the move or while fighting," Dane countered.
Yami sighed. "Fine. She's in."
"Hey, wait a minute!" Fana said, flustered.
Dane and Yami both turned to her with cold, murderous expressions. "What, are we not good enough for you?"
Fana let out a startled squeak, shaking her head hurriedly and agreeing to join.
"Jeez," Noelle grimaced. "One of Captain Yami was bad enough, but now Dane's acting like a miniature version of him."
"What was that?" Yami growled.
"Nothing!" Noelle squeaked.
Dane chuckled, sheathing his sword. "Alright, you guys go start with the evacuation. I'll start rebuilding my mana so I can fix the city."
Everyone nodded, and Fei and Nozel began to carry everyone toward the ground. Once they'd landed, Dane had barely let Mimosa down onto the ground before Vanessa tackled Dane off of Fei, sobbing out nonsense in between desperate, relieved kisses.
"I'm alright, Vanessa," Dane smiled. "I'm alright." He kissed her before sitting up. "Mind making me a new robe?"
Vanessa smiled, nodding, and used her Thread Magic to make him a new robe in seconds, then at his request, made a second for Fana, who grimaced but reluctantly pulled it on.
