"Hey, Rau." Pulse greeted her with a dip of his head.

The young shiny was hiding underneath her covers.

She poked her head out from underneath, blinking in both confusion and fear.

"Y-You're not...you're Pulse!" She exclaimed, slowly crawling out from underneath the covers.

She ran over to him, hugging him tightly, tears beginning to fall down her face.

"I'm so glad you're here!" She choked.

"Yeah, but I'm sorry to say that I'm here to try to convince you that the Pokémon who are taking care of you, Hasira's parents, aren't like what Majnun is." Pulse told her.

Rau nodded.

"I know." She choked out, sobbing.

"Then why aren't you trusting them or anyone other than Hasira and I? I know we aided you and helped capture Majnun, but that doesn't mean the Vaporeon and Arcanine aren't trustworthy."

Pulse didn't bother with learning their names this fast. If he were to hang out with them more—that would meaning hanging out with Hasira which he found gross, then he would consider keeping their names in the front of his mind.

The shiny Froakie looked away.

"It's stupid." She muttered.

"Trust me," Pulse sighed. "There are more stupid things."

He paused, noticing Rau didn't say anything.

He sighed.

"Look, I can't make you like nor trust these Pokémon, but you got to start somewhere. You can at least trust them to take care of you and to feed you. They won't hurt you. I don't know them well and haven't known them long, but they at least seem to care about you. Even if you don't trust them, just trust me. Though, I still don't know why you would trust me over them, but if you don't think they'll take proper care of you like you deserve you can always just come over."

"..."

Rau was silent.

That much about her Pulse liked.

She wasn't as noisy as some Pokémon were.

She struggled harshly obviously as she lost her real parents at a young age, and then her foster mother a few months ago. Pulse at least admitted she lost more than he had.

I'm pretty selfish if I do say so myself. All I've really lost was...my sanity. She's lost more. She's dealing with a lot. Maybe...I should help her. It could prove to be somewhat useful for us both. She could definitely use a big brother: someone to look up to.

A sudden thumping sound could be heard from outside the door.

The door then was knocked on.

"Hello?" The Arcanine's voice boomed as his paw thumped the door.

Pulse was surprised the door didn't break down when the Arcanine began knocking on it.

That Arcanine has a lot of strength. Imagine if he used that for such things such as bank robberies instead of caring for others.

"Rau? Can I please come in?! I have something very exciting to show you." Pax barked.

Pulse could hear the excitement in his voice.

Rau gazed at Pulse with wide eyes before looking at the door.

Pulse just gestures to the door.

"You can let him in, or tell him to go. Who knows what he has, though." Pulse tried to urge.

"I can make him go away?" Rau asked shyly.

She was trying to hide herself behind Pulse.

"Only if you really don't want to know what he's got to show you. Who knows, maybe it will be something cool!" Pulse tried to urge her gently.

Rau seemed torn.

On one paw, she could be alone again and not let anyone else into her life. She could be distrust worthy of every Pokémon that came her way. That would be good for Pulse, but he also knew that could be bad.

On the other paw, she could finally have a normal life. Maybe she'd even begin to make more friends, and then perhaps she could use her skills out in the open.

There was so much to gain from both opportunities.

Her mentality, though, told Pulse that the first option would just make her more of a social outcast than she already was.

She already couldn't look anyone in the eyes. Especially males. She already lost her innocence, and she was only three. That's not good.

Rau seemed to finally decide on an option, nodding in determination as she approached the door shyly.

She glanced back once more at Pulse, who only smiled at her.

This felt a bit nice. Helping others who had nowhere else to go.

He would like to do this more often.

Even he had a bit of heart still attached to him.

Rau turned back to the door, slowly reaching out with a wavering paw.

She turned the door, and the Arcanine gaped at her.

He didn't say anything, but Pulse knew he was in awe that the new addition to the family suddenly decided to let him in.

"What is i-it?" She sniffles, trying to hold back her fear and tears as she stared up with wide eyes at the Arcanine.

The Arcanine slowly walks into the room, trying not to intimidate the shiny Froakie.

He had a newspaper in his paws.

He sat on her bed.

He patted a spot next to her.

Arcanine then nodded to acknowledge Pulse's existence.

As soon as his eyes met Pulse's, they immediately went back to the paper with a smile.

"There's a new squad coming to Poketown." He informed her with his eyes shining.

He showed the shiny Froakie the newspaper.

The shiny Froakie gazed at it in confusion before her eyes started to glow.

"Woah! A...starter squad?"

She then tipped her head.

"What's a starter?"

The Arcanine smiled gently.

"A starter Pokémon is a Pokémon that trainers, humans, usually get to begin their journey through a region. They're the most rarest Pokémon aside from mythicals and legendaries as there are fewer of them around. They are also very powerful as well. Rau, you are a starter. You could join this squad." Arcanine told her.

Her eyes shone.

"What do they do?" She asked in interest.

Pulse didn't like this talk, but listened anyways.

Maybe he could learn something about them that would be useful.

He knew he would have to be careful where he was from now on.

Paarthurnax might have a team of starters he's beginning to draw in, but Pulse had the element to prepare while he still could.

That stupid lizard thinks he can best me?! He thinks he's got the element of surprise?! Well, he's got another thing coming!

Pulse found that there was really no point in hiding who he was anymore, but decided that right now wasn't the best time to show it.

He didn't even know how Rau would react, let alone her new parents and Hasira.

The Arcanine leaned closely to her, warmly. She actually let him get closer this time.

"They're supposed to work like the Police." The Arcanine informed him daughter.

"They capture villains and help out Poketown. They keep the villains at bay."

"Kind of like what the Wurmple were doing, but they're probably doing it better, or worse. Who knows. They're just like them in a way. New and trying to help out." Arcanine barked.

Rau nodded.

"And when can Starters join this squad?" She asked her father with an excited sparkle to her eyes.

She didn't know it for long, but she already seemed obsessed with it.

"Well, I haven't looked that far into it, but since you're interested I can research this as a possible job for you in the future. I don't know how much you miss your old life, but I can tell you that with this new opportunity you will have a chance to have a life. I don't know what happened, but I can tell you you can trust us. But take all the time you need. I'll let Pulse come over any time you want him to."

The Aracanine then stood up, walking out of the room.

So the starter squad has officially begun? Let's see how long that can last? So annoying.

He almost forgot he murdered several Pokémon.

He would probably be the main focus of that rat lizard's squad.

He couldn't let this just go.

He had to scare him into disbanding the squad.

But how can he do that? He probably was as fearless as Pulse was annoyed with the world.

Once Rau and him had a good time finishing up a hangout, Pulse decided to approach Jabetu.

If anyone had any ideas on how to scare others it would be Jabetu. Maybe her new Lampent friend would want to help.

Ghost types are also discriminated against for being spooky, scary, and having quite the strange habits. Pulse convinced himself.

He didn't know if the Lament would turn him in, but he could always deal with the problem with his dark move, Bite.

It was decided, then. He would go to Akaldeep and Jabetu and then ask them for their assistance.

He padded, acting as if he was on his way home before turning to go to the cemetery.

He just prayed they were still there.

He knew Jabetu was hard to find sometimes.

Once he got to the cemetery he had an easy time finding them thanks to a very helpful shiny Dhelmise.

"Jabetu!" Pulse exclaimed as he ran towards his friend who was still happening to be talking to Akal.

The sword turned towards him in surprise, but relaxed.

"What's up, Pulse?" She asked him.

"That little rat created a starter squad! I was hoping that...we could try to disband them." Pulse told her, feeling uncomfortable under the gaze of Akaldeep.

Jabetu glanced at Akaldeep nervously.

"Should we really be talking about it right now?" She asked, giving Akal a very untrusting gaze.

"Yes. It's important."

Jabetu sighed as Akal gazed at him in confusion.

"What is this Houndour talking about?" He asked.

Jabetu sighed.

"I wish it didn't have to come to this, but my friend has...done some bad things. He's basically a sort of outlaw, but just hasn't been proven he's guilty of anything yet." Jabetu informed the Lament who froze in shock.

The Lament then shrugged.

Jabetu then turned to Pulse.

"What is that overpowered lizard doing now?"

"Creating a 'special' squad for his overpowered buddies that are within the same description of 'starter.'" Pulse informed her.

He could feel the beginning of a growl reach the back of his throat.

"What? That's the stupidest idea I've ever heard. Why would you need a squad to declare Pokémon like you special over others? That's unfair!" Jabetu remarked.

"It's even worse. I think he's after me."

Jabetu was pissed off at that statement.

"Why?! Because you killed a couple of Pokémon?! Haven't we all killed someone?! So why do only a selected few get this evil treatment? We should do something about this!"

Jabetu turned back to Akaldeep.

"Akal, I know that this might come as a surprise—"

The Lament glowed brightly as he interrupted the magical sword.

"Nah. I'm good with joining you. I don't like Pokémon that think they're better than everyone to where they have to make a squad to make them even more 'special.' Plus, I'm tired of Pokémon always glaring or giving me side stares as if I'll kidnap them, hurt them, and so on. I'm good with joining you. While this may not be the smartest decision and other ways to deal with this, I'd rather make bad decisions than decisions that will be questioned by any Pokémon anyways." Akaldeep remarked.

"Hey! If you're going to take down that new squad, you'll need more than a few ghost types, and a few Pokémon. I'll join you. I heard everything." The shiny Dhelmise remarked, approaching them.

Pulse didn't know if he could trust either Akaldeep or this Dhelmise, but it was a start.

The official destruction of the starter squad will begin. Paarthurnax won't have his way once I deal with him! No matter what it takes! Pulse thought before turning back to the Dhelmise.

"What's your name, soldier?" He asked him.

"Ciaran."

"Well Ciaran, welcome to the game."
